I moved to Gresham about 8 months ago and immediately found Countryside. I'm so glad I did. I take my bulldog once a week for daycare and quite often to be boarded. In February, she developed an eye ulcer and I was sure I would have to cancel my trip. I called and told them what was happening and asked if it would be possible for them to administer the eye drops every day. They were so accommodating! They made sure she got extra attention because she couldn't play with the other dogs and updated me every evening on how it was going. She came home happy and healthy. Edit to show a picture of his eyes right before boarding to show no pre existing condition that they are claiming he came in with. Edit- I added the pic of the intake form where I mentioned I wipe his wrinkles which is supposedly where I said he needed his eyes cleaned? Again I never said he had eye issues and I didn't mention his past eye allergies to countryside. He did NOT go in with an eye issue. And he was seen by ophthalmologist less then 24 hours this wasn't days after. Full disclosure he was seeing ophthalmology because as a puppy he had cherry eye in the right eye not the left eye that sustained the ulcer at countryside. That was in 2020. Def not related. I took him last year to ophthalmology to be checked for entropic eye lashes and to check for dry eyes because of cherry eye. His right eye (again not the eye damaged at countryside) would get discharge off and on and cloudy, he was evaluated and did not have entropic eye lashes and was put on a steroid gel . His eye had cleared of the cloudy area and no more discharge and he was not taking the drops daily as it was clear. He was set up with ophthalmology for that. His left eye is the one damaged at countryside and that eye was not being treated. I have documentation from his doctor on his eyes. His ophthalmologist also knows this is not related to anything from has past. She said it could have been from another dog. Countryside won't tell us what happened. And I see Terry has changed the comment from the staff cleaning his eyes to washing his face. I sent Terry a picture of his face (after asking if she knew who the owner was after getting no where with Jeff) from less then an hour after pickup on messenger. It showed the gunk around his eyes. I saw countryside commented on my complaint saying they were cleaning his eyes during his stay because of a previous issue. They also emailed me saying that I told them he had eye ulcers in the past. This is completely untrue. The eye injury he sustained at countryside has nothing to do with the allergies he had in the past and the only 'instructions' I left was about how I wipe his wrinkles to keep his skin dry. (I have the paperwork that shows that) They have lied consistently and at first I thought maybe they somehow they just neglected him so much that they didn't see his eye injury (which would be totally inexcusable also) until they made up the story that he had an eye problem coming in. He has a very well documented health history that includes his eyes. I would not recommend this business to anyone. I've never done business with anyone this dishonest. It's disgusting. His ophthalmologist knows this is a new issue from boarding and that he's never had this problem before. They did refund the four extra med charges I found on my receipt. Be careful with who you trust with your babies! And if anyone else has problems with this business and wants to compare notes or needs someone to testify I am definitely willing to help! Brought my dog here for boarding my dog was fine he didn't get sick or anything. The customer service was great they made us feel comfortable which was nice cause it was our first time leaving our puppers. The only thing I wish they did better was sending updates. I asked if they could keep us updated and if they could send us pictures. And they only updated us once with 2 pictures and my dog was there for 2 weeks And I had to message and call them for like 3 or 4 days until they got back to me. read more

Last week I took my two dogs, a 14 year old Yorkshire terrier and a 5 year old Rottweiler to Countryside to be boarded for nine days thinking that they would get the best care. Everything was good with my Yorkie but not with my Rottie who was kept in a little tiny space and wasn't allowed to go out and be in the yard. She's a pandemic puppy that was not socialized and does have issues, but I wish they would've called and I would've had someone come pick her up and not have her treated the way they treated her. Been going to Countryside for years and especially love groomer, Katie. Recently, I've had a few encounters with Jeff in the office and won't be returning because of him. The last time, I entered the office with my dog where there was one person standing there without an animal. Jeff comes from the back with two dogs and yells at me to get out. After I went out and dropped my dog with the groomer, I went back in the office and told Jeff how rude and unprofessional he had been. Went to my car, and he followed me out to tell me he was thinking to refuse service to me because I yelled at him (which I did not) And maybe I should go to a place where I can read a sign in the window (which read one family at a time). He's right, I'd probably could have searched the windows better, and found the sign and read it. I don't have a problem that he asked me about the rules, I have a problem with how he spoke to me and then went after me after the fact. read more

Awful experience!!!! Wasn't told about the "new" emergency contact policy until arrival!! It is now your own responsibility to transport your animal if injure or sick. Being someone who moved to PDX with no other relative or contact, they basically told me they " would do what they could" but they would only possibly help if this "hand was forced" but they couldn't provide me a policy on what they would be accountable for while taking care of my pet. This IS NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR YOUR PETif that is their policy!!! I don't feel safe leaving my pet. I used to LOVE Countryside but this isn't how you keep clients! read more

Love this place! Dropped Dior off for a 3 day stay and when I picked him up he was happy and well taken care of. Countryside came highly recommend and I highly recommend them!!! Place was clean and very professional. The last place I took my dog to was horrible. When I pick him up he was filthy, didn't eat. Just refreshing to see they truly care about your pets. read more

This place looks so promising and would be great for most dogs but I didn't feel comfortable bringing my dog with epilepsy here as they stated they don't have anyone to check the dogs occasionally at night or cameras available. I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you have a pet with special needs. read more

I've been taking my dogs here for a while now, they came home with kennel cough after one visit - but this time I found a bite / puncture wound (pretty deep) on one of them. How on earth this happens without anyone noticing or informing me is pretty scary. We will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

We have boarded our very young petite golden doodle at Countryside twice now, because we're visiting from out of town. We want our dog with us when we travel but not necessarily with us everywhere we go after we arrive. Countryside has been the perfect place to board our dog! She loves the playtime there also. It's more fun for us to shop and play in Portland when we know she's in good hands, having fun too! The staff at Countryside is top notch. They all love animals of course. What amazes us is that they also know how to treat humans with professionalism and great customer service. This is an all-around 5-star, raving review for a business that gets everything right! We've also heard great things about their classes and dog trainers. Next time in Portland we'll have to stay long enough for them to teach her a few things!! read more

I travel quite a bit for work and have been using Countryside for a little over 3 years to board my Doberman when I'm on the road. I've used many kennels in the past, but these people are by far the best I've ever worked with. It's a bit of a drive for me to get there from SE Portland, but well worth the travel. The staff is amazing, very attentive, helpful and friendly. My dog is a notorious tough cookie, he doen't like many people but he loves this place and they treat him wonderfully. They will call you if there is any problem, making you feel peace of mind leaving your baby in their care. They can be a bit pricy for the area, and they do charge for lots of add-on services, but I can say that it's worth the cost. Definately try them if you need to board your pet, I would highly recommend them. read more

The gals at Countryside Pet Spa are Aces! Each one of them truly loves the pets they take in. My wife and I travel on occasion and have used Countryside Pet Spa exclusively for years. They do have a bunch of froofy stuff for yippy dog owners to buy ... but any self-respecting big dog owner will just shy away. That said, everytime I take our dog in I always buy the Snack & Snuggle ... I mean if I'm separated from my family, I'd probably like a snack and snuggle. I can't recommend Countryside Pet Spa enough! read more

This was the first time we boarded our 10-year old cocker spaniel. The website made it very easy to make a reservation, and we were able to send the vaccination records via email. Check in was very easy, and all staff are friendly and helpful. The boarding area is clean, and the grounds are extremely well maintained. Dogs are fed and watered twice daily and get a nature walk every day. The prices are reasonable. We were very happy with the care our dog received and have already made a reservation for January. read more

We planned to use Country side to board our 2 cats during Christmas this year. Unfortunately due to a winter storm our trip had to be cancelled last minute but I wanted to take the time to say that Countryside was beyond helpful. They were professional and knowledgable during a stressful time. We had never boarded our pets before and were nervous about the process but after visiting their website and a short phone conversation I felt 100% at ease. Both making and cancelling the reservation was quick and painless and I was able to easily email the cats records to them. They were smartly priced and even offered a first visit discount. I have been sending my dogs to Countryside for over 10 years now. The new Owners (the Johnsons) are fantastic and their staff is amazing! I am very particular about where my dog stays. She's a goofball at heart but has some challenges typical to her territory guarding breed. The team at Countryside pays attention to each animal and their particular needs. I feel totally comfortable leaving my girl there and she is always happy to go back. She comes home relaxed and sleepy. The changes I've seen take place at Countryside since the Johnson's took over indicate to me that they are more focused on creating the best possible facility for the animals in their charge instead of just expanding the facility to take on more animals. I recently had to extend her stay with them for a family emergency and they were incredibly kind about it. It was such a load off my mind to know that she was well cared for. I drive 45 minutes to take my dog to Countryside, and I am happy to do it. A++ all the way. read more

I have to say I am very disappointed in the service my animals received just this last week 6/25-28/15 Rates have changed( gone up) with new owners and I'm not sure they are the best fit for us anymore. Both my Bassets always stay in 1 pen. Old owners gave a discount for this, no break now so I pay $55 per night. Countryside advertises a new discount if you bring own food, I did and found it was only good for 1 dog ??(I even questioned it). The beds that I brought for my girls were somehow cleaned ( but not labeled) and then given out to other animals in the shelter for use ?? The new owner had to go through and search the other pens to retrieve them as help seemed to be unaware they had even had arrived with them and had no clue where they were. My Ella got a scratch on her nose (from rubbing her nose against door till it bled was written on card). I'm not sure how long my girls had been without their beds and wonder if it could have attributed to Ella's stress level. I know it has never happened before. I'm not sure my girls and I can take the "Resort" and Spa experience anymore so, I'll be looking for a new kennel. read more

Very disappointed. First time ever boarding our dogs because we had a family emergency. I asked if my two dogs could be boarded together because one has high anxiety and I was assured they would be. They mentioned the only time they would be separated was for a few min each day to eat. We arrives at 4 pm yesterday and went back to get our dogs and they were in separate kennels. I asked how long they had been separated and she said since 9 am because one did not finish eating. Our dog with anxiety has red spots from chewing on her legs from being nervous. We got home and one of our dogs literally fell asleep on us snoring for hours - she was so exhausted. We won't return. read more

Had my 2 dogs kenneled over night for a total of 23 hours and was charged $150 because they claimed it was two days. Pretty sure every other place I have kept my dogs charge by the night. Who kennels their dogs for just the time from morning till night at an extended kenneling facility? The little douche manager was completely useless in resolving the issue. Normally we take our dogs to natures acres which is a much more professional business and has ACTUAL dog runs in the grass attached to each kennel. Our dogs seem to enjoy natures acres much more than this place. Neither us nor our family/friends will be back and would not recommend it to anyone. If you do venture here, I would get a price quote ahead of time so you don't have a surprise bill waiting for you like I did. Very unprofessional place ran by a group of kids. read more

My husband and I just recently got married in Troutdale. We wanted our dogs to be in the wedding but they would have to leave right after the ceremony. That's when Countryside Pet Resort comes in- we took our two herding dogs there after the wedding and we couldn't have been happier! We had visited the resort a few times and had a few concerns after the first visit. After talking with the awesome owners, Terri and Todd, we were totally at ease. They knew we were hesitant about leaving our dogs in a kennel for the first time so they talked us through everything and even gave us a tour of the grounds! They were so understanding about all of our questions and concerns, and Terri is so responsive! so whenever I had a question, she would contact me straight away. Huge shout out to Todd- he has such a kind demeanor and our two rescue dogs seemed to love him! One of our dogs doesn't like men very much, but he seemed to just adore Todd! We had a wonderful experience and I would recommend Countryside Pet Resort to anyone! read more

We recently moved to the Round Rock area and needed to find a new place to board our dog. Countryside Pet Resort was happy to do a meet and greet, and let us check out the facility. The building is clean and the location is nice. The staff is friendly and you can tell they love animals. It's a bit of a drive for us, but I think it's worth it. Our dog later stayed there for a few days. Of course she was happy to come home, but she was in good shape and seemed just like her happy, normal self.
