We have not moved for 40 years. So there was much anxiety when we faced with downsizing in our retirement years. We are 110% satisfied with Countrywide Moving and Storage. They did a great job from start to finish. The gentleman who came to our home to take inventories answered all our questions and explained every issue regarding long distance moving. The estimate was accurate to the penny that that was exactly what we paid at the end. During the move, the movers were all highly professional and friendly. The owner of this company would not show proof of his insurance. As a paying customer, i have a right to know that the company i hire has General Liability and Auto Liability in the event they hurt someone, and Workers Compensation in the event one of their employees are injured. A customer should not have to worry about getting sued because a company they hire wont show their proof of insurance. Update: Despite having an email confirming a quote and a conversation with their salesperson that they refused to release their insurance certificate to me because i dont have a right to see it (per the supervisor/owner), and they took a credit card deposit from me (which they refunded), the owner has called me several times demanding i remove my review and threatening legal action. I was very happy with a different company - the one that moved my car. And I have moved cross-country in the past and been happy with those businesses, which were based out of California. Because I try to support local businesses, I hired this one this time. It was a mistake. The owner's admits, that his company uses third party subcontractors. I hired his company and, among my many complaints, is his company's refusal to take responsibility for the move - as opposed to trying to pass me off to someone else. read more

UNRELIABLE I contacted these movers a month and half in advance of the move, knowing that since it was a small move they would need time to schedule everything. Told them they could collect the goods as early as they needed as long as they could hit the August move in date. Then when I call them today they informed me not only could they not hit the date but even hitting the end of that week was "iffy" and there was nothing they could do for me. Great Service from beginning to end. I usually don't take time to leave reviews but I can't help but give credit where credit is due! My husband and I scheduled a long distance move from the Philadelphia area to the Washington, DC area. We had a full 4 bedroom home to move. I spoke to Kerry, she scheduled my service, gave me a quote over the phone, and followed-up with me several times before our move to make sure I didn't have any questions or concerns. She offered excellent customer service. Its important to note that I got 15-20 estimates from local and national moving companies. It took me a while to find the right price with the right quality service (I'm very particular about service providers). Countrywide had the BEST PRICE considering the service provided. I did receive some lower estimates but they wanted to charge me by the hour. Countrywide gave me a FLAT RATE. So I had peace of mind that I would not be scammed or surprised with additional charges on moving day. I moved in June. The 3 movers ( Will, Tyree, and Kurt) showed up on time and got right to work. It began raining REALLY bad (for at least 6 hours) and these guys continued working to load up the truck in the rain. They never complained and were always pleasant. All three of them went above and beyond to make sure that our belongings were safe. Our belongings ended up filling up the truck. Because of their experience Kurt, Will, and Tyree were very strategic about how they loaded up the truck, so all of our items could fit in one trip. They also helped to pack up a few items that needed packing, including our 2 big screen televisions... The next day Tyree, Will and Kurt showed up to our new home about 126 miles from our previous residence. They unloaded the truck quickly, re-assembled all of our beds, took directions very well about where to place our items and did not mind when we asked them to move items a second time. All of our items arrived in the condition that we expected and we could not be happier with Countrywide. We would use them again without hesitation. Based on all the great reviews, I filled out their detailed web form and submitted it to get a moving quote for a move basically 5 miles from one small apartment to one house at end of the month. I got no response from the web form. I called them the next day to find out if they'd gotten the form and when I might expect the quote. I got a guy who was polite but kind of curt. He asked me when I submitted the form - after business hours or what - I honestly didn't remember if I sent it at 3, 4 or 5 pm. He told me they had received nothing via the web and to give them my number and they would have to call me back "in a few hours" (? a few hours? this is just for a quote on a relatively small amount of stuff.) He then asked me when I wanted to move and I said end of the month (since I am on a month to month lease and it is not cheap and I have already closed on the house). He proceeds to tell me they have no availability and that was the end of the call. I understand that sometimes companies might not have any availability but this wasn't exactly the five star professional communications experience I was expecting from the other reviews. Based on this contact I would strongly recommend that other people not use the web form (My computer is only 2 years old and usually has no problem with web forms) and also that if you want to use these guys you better plan way in advance. Edited to update previous review: I did hear later that day from Kerry who apparently had received my form via the web without the other person's knowledge and sent me the estimate via e-mail. She was very pleasant to deal with but confirmed what the other person said - no availability for any dates near end of the month - so I was not able to work with them. Since Kerry was fine to deal with, despite the lack of availability, I have increased the rating from 2 stars to 3 but the first person really was not that great to deal with so maybe the best thing is to just call and ask for Kerry. read more

2 stars because my stuff came in one piece from Philadelphia to California but I would not recommend them or use them in the future. First, they are more pricey than their competitors. I paid 2400 for the move (almost 3000 after extra charges). I was ok with that because I figured they were less likely to charge me for every little thing and because I believed they would be more reliable and get my stuff to me on time. I was wrong. They charged for everything from tape to wrapping my stuff, in addition to the $2,400 I paid. My stuff also came a week late. Still they would have gotten a better review if they hadn't brought a THIEF to my home. The truck driver hired a mover that he didn't vet and ended up getting robbed by him. The idea that you would bring someone into a person's house without checking them out is outrageous! When I told them about this, they said they would check it out and get back to me. Haven't heard back from them. Just stay away. read more

There is no reason to not use this moving company. I have moved many times in the past few years, and I'm sorry I did not know about these guys sooner. (Not to mention the fact that they offered the best price for what I needed.) First of all, customer service leading up to the job was incredible. Kerry responds to inquiries and phone calls very quickly. She also worked with me and was very patient in answering questions and making sure that we were on the same page. The day of the move could not have gone better. Eric and Steve showed up exactly when they said they would, and they were extremely professional and friendly throughout the day, especially considering the difficulty of the move. We arrived to move me into my 6th floor apartment in a New York City apartment building, and discovered that not only was there only one slow, small elevator; there were three other moves going on at the same time. While the other movers in the apartment were wasting their clients' time waiting for the elevator, Eric and Steve took numerous trips up and down the six flights of stairs until the elevator opened up. These guys hustled to get all of my items (including some quite hefty furniture) into the apartment, and even put my bed together for me. My siblings and I had to empty our mom's apartment as soon as possible after she passed to avoid additional maintenance fees and to get it sold. We had partial loads to California and Massachusetts as well locally to Springfield, PA. When I began calling on June 25 to find a mover for July 1, I discovered that July is the busiest moving month and requires three or four weeks lead time. Big name moving companies couldn't even schedule an estimator before July 11. When I spoke with Jacob at Countrywide on Monday morning, June 27, he committed to the local move for two days later, June 29. Because we were very organized and had a detailed list of the number and types of boxes and the type and size of furniture to be moved, Jacob made an estimate via email. By Tuesday afternoon, June 28, he had arranged for the partial load to Massachusetts also to be pick up on Wednesday to go to storage for a September delivery. A few hours later Jacob had managed to scheduled a pick up of the California load for Thursday, June 30. Although their contracts stipulate cash only at pick up, Jacob arranged to take checks and saved us many trips to the bank. Countrywide had a "can do" attitude for the moment they answered my first phone call and worked tirelessly to accommodate our ridiculous schedule. As we worked through scheduling and moving I received frequent calls from Jacob updating me on the arrival of the local move truck. He assured and worked with apartment management to get the huge truck going to California) into the complex. We had done 95% of the packing and required very little special packing and wrapping of our loads. Everything got moved out of mom's apartment so quickly and easily. Countrywide did a fabulous job. Only a few small items in one box were broken in the California load. All the rest was handled gently and efficiently. I recommend Countrywide Moving and Storage unreservedly. TL/DR: Mediocre service; the owner told me he would release private information learned by the movers inside our house in retaliation for posting a bad review. Note: As a courtesy I provided a draft of my review to Countrywide prior to posting. We have some fundamental disagreements on my day-of concerns, so I modified my review to focus on concerns on customer privacy/service. The good: Prior to the move, Kerry was helpful, professional, and made sure we had the details we needed. The movers were polite, friendly, respectful, and flexible. They didn't mind when my husband and I changed our minds on where something should go, and even helped us unpack a new couch that was still in the packaging - not originally part of the deal. They were up front about what they can't move (propane/gas cans, baskets...); neat, on time, careful with our walls. We felt comfortable giving them a better-than-average tip given the above. The mediocre: If this were the end of it, I might not have even gotten around to writing a review of the company. 1. All but one of the movers: fast, efficient, diligent. The last was nice but always taking breaks, not really working, moving small mirror here and there, stopping my husband to show him videos on his phone. Three separate entities observed this behavior: me, my husband, our neighbors. 2. We moved from a very small (albeit full) 2 bedroom house 15 minutes away. Despite estimating with Kerry, the truck was not enough to support the move in a single trip, and the company did not go back to finish. The movers finished two hours ahead of the estimate - in theory, nothing to complain about, but in our case because the move wasn't finished, it indicates something went wrong in the estimation/execution process. If, as Countrywide responded, I substantially underestimated the items that needed to be moved, then the move wouldn't have been "completed" so early. My husband and I had to take off work the next day, rent a truck, and finish the move ourselves. Countrywide perceives that my husband told them "not to worry about" the rest of the items, but neither my husband nor I recall that conversation. Some ownership can be on us (Maybe we underestimated by some percentage; we didn't do a thorough enough walkthrough before we left with the movers; I didn't think to call the main office to demand resolution during the actual Sunday move); some of it on the company (didn't execute on the estimate they had; didn't offer a solution; missed items that we asked them to pack; expected the customer to find a solution on the day of rather than the professionals) and we can argue back and forth all day. At the end of the day, while the above was disappointing for us as customers, it's not the end of the world. The very bad: When I called to provide this feedback, I was anticipating a quick, "Sorry, we should have offered to go back to the house for you to finish the job, and I'll talk to the guy who wasn't working hard" and leave it at that. I was/am not looking for any compensation. But unfortunately, the owner told me he would respond to this review with some embarrassing private information from our house the movers shared with him (I can only imagine he was referring to the personal intimate item I had inadvertently left under our bed? I can't recommend a company that threatens to expose sensitive details from men who have been inside your home). The owner pointed out several times that he "saved me money" by finishing early, missing the point that we spent more time and money to rent a truck personally to finish the move ourselves. He said everything was our fault, that I'm the type of person that is "never happy," and that he sees no issue with the mover stopping work to watch YouTube videos on his phone during the move. He told me he will involve lawyers if I write a bad review, and he berated me multiple times for not knowing all of the movers' names off the top of my head. In the past, someone must have implied that the owner's accent was problematic because at the beginning of the call he told me that I was complaining only because I must have issues with people with accents. This was literally not even on my radar before he mentioned it. He was adamant that he wouldn't apologize. I could never have imagined this reaction to my call and a chance to satisfy a disappointed customer. I hate that he has our credit card information, house address, and whatever other personal information he refers to, and am admittedly nervous about whatever he plans to share in retaliation to this review. After the above call, Kerry called, apologized, let me know that my concerns were serious, and offered to send another truck back (no charge) to finish the move. By then we had already finished loading our personally rented truck, but I wish I had talked to her prior to/instead of the owner - this was certainly more than expected. Kerry was great in setting up the appointment, Jacob made the time to see me after my work day and explained the process thoroughly. On moving day I got a courtesy call letting me know they were on the way, the guys were friendly, careful and FAST. Got a job that was estimated at about 7 hours done in 4 1/2, which is great when you're paying by the hour! Would definitely recommend them to a friend or anybody else. read more

Last year, I moved from a one bedroom apartment complex to another one bedroom apartment complex. After looking online and getting reviews from friends and family, I provided Countrywide Moving and Storage with an estimate of what I needed to move and felt like the phone representative was very pleasant to work with. I stressed my concern with moving my 4K TV and she went over the insurance option with me but also let me know that they are very good at making boxes to protect them during the move. I did the move on a weekday and they showed up a few minutes before which I did appreciate. They got everything loaded up super quick and they also got everything unloaded even quicker! I was quoted several hours however due to the hard work of the three men that moved me, I ended up paying the minimum charge for the service. I was overall thrilled with the moving experience and when I move again (which might be in the next several months) I will be giving Countrywide Moving and Storage a call before any other moving company!! read more
