County Cider is nestled on the top of a hill, overlooking Lake Ontario. The views are breath taking, and make this spot well worth the visit. The service was wonderful; our waiter was attentive and helpful. He even provided our dog a water bowl. As expected, County Cider has a variety of cider options, from dry to sweet, to chose from. The cider was tasty and refreshing; I especially enjoyed the blood orange flavour, something I've never tried before. We ordered the tacos and pizza to eat. I would probably give the food a 3/5; it was nice to have with the drinks but not amazing. Overall I would highly recommended County Cider! read more

The VIEW. (+1 star) County Cider Company's Patio has the BEST view. It is just stunning and dreamy. I can sit in one of the Muskoka Chair and just enjoy a cold cider or 2 for the whole afternoon. The Tasting for $2 includes 4 ciders or 50 cents each. Tasting size is really small and really just for a taste. We ended up trying 5 different ciders: Feral, Blood Orange, Tortured Path, County and Waupoos. Since we were here on a weekday and the tasting room was not busy at all so we got really fast and attentive service. Affordable pints of draft cider in an outdoor paradise setting. What more could you ask for? Well they also have an outdoor restaurant and the food is good. But don't let the special pizza oven fool you, they are not hand tossed or anything like that. Still, ingredients are high quality and fresh. I can recommend the cider house salad and asiago dip (note that they charge for extra bread). I would not come here for a big meal if you are starving. But with a patio and a view like that they could serve nothing and I would still go. The tasting room and toilets don't function well when they are busy. So if you are a large family or group do not come at noon. Also please move along quickly when other customers are waiting. There are products for sale in the tasting rooms. I suggest picking up some of the specialties in the plastic bottles as the regular stuff in 6-packs is commonly available at the LCBO. read more

County Cider gets my vote for "best patio in the County"...so if you're visiting in the warmer weather, definitely stop here for some cider-bevvies with a great view. They also have pizzas made fresh in the outdoor oven. Their original, peach and cranberry/raspberry ciders are refreshing and yummy, perhaps even more so (especially the fruit ones) when cut with a little soda water and ice. We came here on recommendations from someone local to have lunch and to try out some cider. A single taste is $0.50, ice cider taste is $1, and a flight is $2. I thought I would love the fruitier ciders like blood orange and peach, but surprisingly preferred the Waupoos premium cider. It was clean, lightly sweet, and refreshing without having a medicinal taste. For those who like cream soda, you should try the blood orange cider. The wait for a table for 7 was quite long without prior reservations. While waiting, we enjoyed the views and walked through the small vineyard overlooking the lake. Once finally seated, we ordered 4 pizzas and a salad to share. Although smaller in size, the pizzas were loaded with toppings. We enjoyed the goat cheese, pear and chicken pizza. The "Hots for You" with sausage and tomatoes was flavourful. The Fun Guy pizza was loaded with mushrooms, Brie, and was very creamy. Pizzas cost $17.50 each. A star was subtracted for the delay in seating and the hostess staffs' inability to estimate when we would be seated. We came here for lunch on a Thursday and they were packed. We luckily had a short wait and they sat the 9 of us quickly. The pizza were delicious! The Good: The cider is fresh-tasting and smooth, not too sweet. The views of the bay are lovely. The Bad & The Ugly: It's breaking my heart to give County Cider Company a bad review as I remember it being a genuine family-run operation with manners to match when it first opened. Unfortunately, my recent experience this summer was terrible. I'm glad business is booming, but they managed the crowds poorly and service was abysmal. There was a mix-up on their part that delayed our getting a table. Despite waiting over a half hour after sitting down, we weren't approached by a single server. I suspect the kitchen was running behind (they make pizzas in an outdoor oven, so can only handle a certain capacity) but acknowledgement and drinks would have been appreciated. In fact, we probably would have had a few while enjoying the sunshine and waiting for food. We left without ordering and had a few drinks (bottles of county cider - it really is good!) at the Duke of Marysburgh pub instead. Altogether the atmosphere seemed soulless and corporate, incongruous with the laid-back friendliness of the area. It was not unlike being on King St West in Toronto on an especially douchey day. My boyfriend and I have fond memories of idyllic summer days in Waupoos, but in his words, County Cider Company is "like a black hole sucking all of charm out of the region." read more

So now you know that this is not a glowing review of the County Cider Company. Beautiful patio, really great spot to sit and relax. The view across to the lake is amazing and the menu, while not extensive is creative. The service was inattentive and then degenerated into downright rude. More on that later. So yes, it was Saturday afternoon and it was busy in the County. Last weekend of the summer, so everyone is either trying to get the last sites checked off their to-do list or capture the last tourist dollars... I get that, it's the way it works in places like this. We ordered starter and mains and ciders, you know, a typical meal for five people. The food was good, although at $17 for a personal pizza it had better be. Actually, those are Toronto prices, and this was not Toronto pizza. Still, the view, friends, a sunny Saturday... sure, I'll play along with life in a tourist town. I spent many a summer growing up in one, I get it. We eat and order more drinks, you know how the whole thing works. And we enjoy our food. Really, even the picky eater who refused to eat anything but pita bread (okay, he's 11). We finish and are contemplating another round of drinks when SLAM. The bill arrives hard on the table with the terse instruction to pay at the cash inside. Okay, what about more cider? Coffee? Perhaps something overpriced from the bakery ($5 for a small butter tart - are you kidding me)? Apparently not. We had been dismissed and rudely at that. After we recovered, we went back to our visit and finishing our drinks - oh, did I mention that we were not quite finished our drinks? when a second staff member walked over and said "You have your bill. Go pay at the cashier". WTF? At this point K nudges me and motions to the two women at the table next to us WHO ARE PAYING WITH A PORTABLE CARD MACHINE. They don't need to get out and go to the cash inside... again, WTF? As an aside, the kitchen staff working at the pizza oven seemed to be having an on-going verbal fight which was angry and aggressive and really not appropriate... clearly tempers were a little frayed on this last Saturday of the summer. Tacky and classless... it wasn't even entertaining. Needless to say the tip was not great... which is what the cashier muttered under her breath as she checked the bill after I had paid. Seriously. Instead of asking if anything was wrong, she said "Nice tip" and thanklessly gave me my copy of the bill. Again, classy. Ordinarily I would have made mention of these concerns to the business, but at no point during or after are meals did anyone ask how we were doing. No questions about the food. We had to flag down a passing server to get more drinks. Clearly they were not interested in the quality of our experience, so here I am at Yelp. And the bottled cider is stupid expensive. read more

I think these guys make the best cider in the County. There's a broad selection of flavours to choose from, but what I like most is that they also make dryer ciders that have fuller, richer flavours and pair better with food. There is a patio with a spectacular view of Lake Ontario, but the restaurant does not offer any gluten free options so I have never been able to eat there and can't tell you anything about the food. We shared the charcuterie plate which included local cheeses (amazing!), my husband had the lamb burger (perfectly done) & I had the cheese and caramelized onion pizza (fantastic!) along with a couple of their ciders. I read the reviews that state prices were high but disagree - for the fresh ingredients and setting it is reasonable and we will definitely be back. We also took a walk among the vines afterwards. My husband and I came here four years ago for my birthday and 6 months into us dating. I think we both knew at the time we had met "the one". It was an absolutely perfect weekend and one of our stand out spots was the County Cider Company. I remembered the pizza until this day and the beautiful view. It was also because of this place that we tried really hard to hold our wedding here two years ago. Due to our guest numbers, we were unable to hold our wedding here. Last weekend we came to Prince Edward County with the in laws and our niece and nephew. Of course we wanted to visit this particular spot again and boy, did we and our family fall in love. The pizzas were as delicious as I remember and the view was even better than four years ago. We obviously ordered a bunch of ciders which are delicious and refreshing. We ordered the Cider House Salad, the Fun Guy Pizza, the Pollo Pizza and the Margherita. The Salad was delicious. The Fun Guy and Pollo Pizzas are so so good! As cider lovers, we were excited to check this place out in Prince Edward County. A great little cidery! We did a tasting ($2 for 4) and the Feral was our favourite - don't be fooled by the pink colour, it's not too sweet at all and has a really unique flavour. We also had lunch which was nice - the outdoor seating is great and there's a beautiful view and the orchards and the water. We tried the chicken pizza and the crossroads (bbq) pizza. Came here on a kind of crappy and cloudy day. I've never been to a Cider Company before and expected a little more. They have free tastings of the Waupoos Cider, and County Cider they make, but it's not different than the ones sold at the LCBO. It would be nice to have something more exclusive, something different. There was two flavoured Ciders, but they didn't taste very good. The grounds, there wasn't much to see except an expanse of field. Looks like lunch can also be served here too. There might be more to this, but I didn't see it. This little business is a booming entity for the County. It's range of cider is quickly becoming popular near and far and it's hard to find a time when the tasting room/store is not filled with patrons. If you do stop in for a tasting, you'll find yourself able to taste the full range of the product offerings - everything from a tart apple cider to a more sweet peach cider. They also offer a patio that I think serves food over the summer months. There is a beautiful view of the lake from the property, so you'll be wanting to stick around for a few minutes to snap a photo or two. read more

We've been here in Prince Edward County for a week and we've been back to this location three times for lunch. They're only open until 5:00 p.m. The patio sits on the edge of the orchard and vineyard with a great view of Lake Ontario in the background. The menu is wood oven pizzas, lamb burgers, chicken wraps, beef burgers, and some nice salads and dips. The Asiago artichoke dip is fantastic. Best of all is the ciders. My favourite was the County Cider Apple Cider and my wife loved the Tortured Path cider that is only available at this location. They're both dry so if you like sweet, try the Blood Orange. Service was great every time we were there and the food was always consistently good and came to the table nice and hot. I'd highly recommend this place for a great lunch, some great cider and a few minutes to sit and relax. read more

I feel badly giving such a negative review for this place, considering the man behind the bar in the tasting room -- who I assumed to be the proprieter -- was lovely and hospitable. He walked us through the ciders and was friendly and knowledgable. The service on the patio, however, was awful. Our group all decided it may have been the worst service we've ever had -- at the least, the worst service in PEC. The server (brunette, tattoos on her arm) who was helping us was unfriendly, unhelpful and generally seemed indifferent to doing her job. When she took our orders, she did not bother writing them down. Sure enough, she got my drink order wrong. When I finally got her attention about five minutes later -- she was distracted talking to a group of whom I assume were regulars -- she did not apologize or acknowledge having made any mistake. In fact, I was left from her attitude of feeling as if I were inconveniencing her for having to correct her for her mistake. When it was time to leave, that was made clear to us because she brought us the bill -- making us all feel unwelcome And when we did go to pay the bill, and asked to split it, she said tersely: "you should have asked me at the beginning of your meal." Being admonished like that by the server felt tacky and left a bad taste in all of our mouths. Of our group, we have worked many, many years of customer service. We all understand it can be hard at times, but we also understand the difference between good and bad service. This server, who obviously did not care about her customers' experience, and made us all feel like we were inconveniencing her the entire time, was simply was not up to par. Added bonus, the food has really improved since they first opened the patio restaurant. The salads and charcuterie were very good. I tried the pizza 2 summers back and it was pretty awful--- why bother getting a pizza oven if you are just going to use manufactured, frozen par-baked pizza dough? But, did I mention the view?
