Short version: mediocre…read more Long version: I tried this truck several years ago and it was awful. But I like to give new places a chance, so I tried it again. They have improved. The rice is not an overcooked glutenous mass, it's decently sticky and they give you more than any one person should really eat in a single sitting, about twice as much if not more. However there was a slightly odd flavor, I suspect that they are using unfiltered tap water and the water on Whidbey is hard. I got the Teriyaki Chicken and Chicken Katsu. Unfortunately, the katsu was no longer crisp when I got it home 10 minutes after being handed it. The breading looked good and was the right flavor, but it just fell off of the chicken. The chicken was too thick for Katsu, they need to pound it into a thinner cutlet. They use breast meat, which is fine for Katsu but not great for the Teriyaki. I suspect that they chose to standardize to one part of the chicken to simplify their process. Thigh meat is better for teriyaki because it's fattier and therefore more flavorful and also harder to overcook. The salad they include will appeal to most people, it was a spring mix with a ginger vinaigrette. No complaints there other than I don't care for spring mix, but I would not expect them to change that for me. Their teriyaki sauce is weird and thin. They would be served better with a more traditional thicker sauce that clings to the meat. I won't bother going back. I can get better Katsu elsewhere on the south end of Whidbey and better Teriyaki in Oak Harbor.

I ordered two tacos with Chicken and a burrito with chicken. The tacos are very small, the size of street tacos but are very good! The burrito is HUGE! Not as big as Jumbo Burrito, but still very big! The burrito is made with refried beans, rice, onion, cilantro, and your choice of protein (I might have missed an ingredient or two). There are 5 or 6 choices of proteins available. Some of the choices are chicken, carne asada, and chorizo.. I don't remember the other choices. The food was very tasty and comes with the option of mild or spicy salsa. I chose the spicy salsa because I love spicy food!! There are two picnic tables with built-in umbrellas for seating if you decide to enjoy your dinner on -site. I really enjoyed my food and will most likely return soon!!

They are incredible juicy with their special sauce, pickle, tomato and lettuce. The patties are NOT thin and NOT like a thin fast food burger. Even the brioche buns are a perfect pairing. Thick, juicy and an ultimate hangry killer! Honestly some of the best burgers we've had in a long while. And the prices are insanely reasonable. $12 for a big burger and fries. I couldn't even finish it all. Also these have this really awesome Burger Challenge for $50. If you can finish it all in 30min it's free with a free winner shirt. It's a 6 patty cheese burger, 3 grilled cheese, 12 pieces of bacon and pieces of brisket. But comparing our large burger to the description above, I think it would be a difficult challenge. The employees are very friendly, helpful and happy. This truck is definitely worth the drive. Located right by the main entrance of Deception Pass State Park. My husband got the one that has an onion ring (kinda like a western burger, forgot the name) and I got the inferno. I'll start by saying the fries were perfectly cooked and I thought they had a good flavor to them. The burger was also good. I asked for the inferno sauce on the side, cause the burger already has jalapeño on it, and boy am I glad I did. The sauce was too hot for my liking. No biggie just kept it off, it tasted great without it and wasn't dry or anything. I will definitely go back another time.

With a little time on our hands we drive into Anacortes since we've never really been there, only passing through to catch the ferry. Realizing it's the 4th, we happen to catch the tail end of the Anacortes 4th of July Parade. At this point it's around if not after lunch time. Well with crowds and traffic we go on a walk-about in search of food and not more than a klick from our position we find this nice little lot by the marina with some food trailers. Choices, choices, choices, those being Chinese food, BBQ and Gourmet Hot Dogs. First choice was the dogs, but the line was a little long for us. So we went with BBQ...again glad we did. It was a bit of wait, since it had just opened not to long ago, some folks already waiting and one person doing food prep, cooking, taking orders and running the till, he mentioned waiting for someone else so help was on the way, but he did great, and the wait wasn't that bad. So for lunch we had one beef brisket sammy, two pulled pork sammys, one topped with coleslaw and with other with mac-n-cheese and beans on the side. First the sides, both probably one of the best I've had, no seriously. I'm not a real big mac-n-cheese guy, but this one was damn tasty. I love that I could tasted the cheese and it was not weak in flavor. I thought it was as good as if not better than that one Pike Place Mac-n-Cheese place. Then there was the beans, OMG, those baked beans were no joke...awesome! I so wished I'd gotten more of that. Then the sammys: The brisket was so tender, so juicy with some excellent flavor. Not smothered in BBQ sauce, it was just the perfect amount and tasted so good! The pulled pork sammys were excellent, lotsa pork with the perfect amount of sauce so they complimented each other flavor-wise so it's not all BBQ sauce you taste. Bottom line, some DAMN GOOD BBQ! Some restaurant's idea of BBQ is to take meat and cover/drown it in sauce-ugh. i.e. Applebee's bottomless riblets (only thing going for it is that it is bottomless-but it's nothing more than BBQ sauce with meat texture....I digress). Anyhow, the next time we are passing through, this definitely will be a stop. Surprised not to find it on YELP so I had to add it myself. It was that good! This family-run operation is located in the beer garden at Farmstrong Brewing. Their food is what I'd call "elevated food truck," with a rotating, bistro-style menu often featuring the freshest and most in season ingredients. While I've never had a bad bite here, the star of the show is definitely their mac 'n cheese. Their sandwiches, tacos, and Asian-inspired dishes hit home runs as well. The best part is, everything they serve pairs well with any of Farmstrong's delish beers or house-brewed ciders. Most recently, I had their smash burger tacos paired with a La Raza Mexican Lager - oh yeahhhh! They also have many vegetarian options, and if you're not too hungry you can't go wrong with their crispy fries.
