I love this food truck, very affordable, great portion sizes. And great staff. Love their carne asada fries... Also ask if they have lengua( cow tongue for a meat option) , they don't always but when they do it's out of this world!!! Honestly way better than rocket taco. For the equivalent of basic tacos, (no guacamole no sour cream).rocket will have more options but this truck nails the basics !

$18 for this burrito and a side of rice

I just went to this taco truck for lunch today and boy was I surprised to hear my total come out to $18. $12 for the burrito which was okay for my hunger but $6 for a side of rice?! Smh never have I ever been to a taco truck that sold a side of rice for $6 till today.

Good grub: authentic spices and reasonable prices. I usually get the tacos but have not been disappointed with their burritos or plates. I'm happy they're in the area for a quick tasty lunch - just try not to hit them during Nichols Bros lunch time.

Visiting Whidbey island for a few days and I was really in the mood for some good Mexican food and saw the positive yelp reviews and came here. I got a burrito and it was authentic and delicious as I would have expected from any good taco truck. The burrito was huge and filled with delicious goodness - rice, beans, guac, pico di gallo and the choice of your meat. It was a very filling and delicious meal! Will come back again probably tomorrow to try the tacos!!

The soft tacos with beef, were seasoned well, the beans had great flavor, not too aftertaste which I enjoyed and the rice was soft and moist. The chips and salsa they bring to the table was also delicious l! Definitely keeping on the list of places to stop for a quick lunch if we are in this area again. As always stay safe and healthy out there and see you all at my next bit!

It's not quite a 4 star place but it tries to be.... Their lunch prices and choices are unheard of! So I ordered the pork chimichanga. Many other options and price points but try to find such a big lunch with decent to good quality for $10? There were a few older single fellows that came in too for a beer and a lunch combo around us too. My wife ordered the shrimp fajitas and liked them though done a little differently. Generous portions of beans and rice and the give you bean dip with the salsa and chips immediately upon seating. We dined in the mostly empty fining room. Service was pretty good although the staff tends to hang in the kitchen and chat. My wife really did enjoy her blackberry Marguerita that I suggested to her from other reviews. I was never too excited about trying this local place in an old strip mall but glad we did. I'd eat here again and try the menu out. This was a very good value for Whidbey island or anywhere for a pretty good food and drink experience.

One of the front desk staff recommended El Molcajete Mexican Grill, about a 5 minute easy drive away. Parking is right out front and there is plenty of it. Handicapped too, with no stairs or steps to get in or out. Nice, clean, welcoming and I LOVED the carved Mexican diningroom chairs with the hand painted agave plants. The artwork on the walls was mighty impressive too. Very pleasant. It was not crowded the night we went and it felt like a local, "regulars" crowd. Older, with lots of experience with the giant Margaritas served. I think there was at least one at every table. Husband tried the CAMARONES A LA DIABLA ($23): grilled shrimp with hot red sauce. Served with lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, onions, rice, beans, avocado slices and tortillas. It was HUGE. The plate it was served on reminded me of the turn-table plate from a microwave oven! I tried the TACOS DE CAMARON ($23): grilled shrimp folded in three corn tortillas drenched with red sauce. Served with lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, rice, beans and avocado slices. I actually would have just ordered the regular street tacos if I had known mine was going to be drenched in red sauce. Both meals were tasty but neither of us could finish the huge portions. Staff is friendly & efficient. Food arrived very quickly too. There are two TVs on the wall, both tuned to some sporting event. I believe the sound was off as I also heard Mexican music quietly playing in the background. Nice place if this is your vibe for Mexican food (aka Tex-Mex). You won't leave hungry or unhappy, especially if you have a giant Margarita!

We did have to wait a bit longer for one of our tacos to come out, but the server apologized for the delay as she brought out our other food ahead! I appreciated this as I'd rather have part of my order sooner than wait longer for everything to be ready. We honestly weren't sure how quality the Mexican food on a PNW island would be, but this was truly very good! I wish there was a location down in the Tacoma/Puyallup area cause I'd go frequently! If you are in Coupeville and are craving tacos, this is the place to go!

From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. I believe the owner was the one who served us, and he was incredibly friendly and attentive. The service was excellent, and the restaurant has such a charming atmosphere. They have cozy tables for two as well as larger tables that can comfortably seat a group of 10, making it perfect for any occasion. We ordered the Parrillada (Molcajete), which came sizzling with onions, bell peppers, cheese, sausage, and both chicken and beef fajitas, served with handmade corn tortillas. Everything was incredibly fresh, and you could truly taste the difference in the tortillas they were some of the freshest I've had in a very long time. The chicken and beef were both tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the fresh guacamole and chips, burritos, a refreshing limeade, and a Mandarin soda. Every bite was delicious and tasted authentically homemade. One of my favorite parts was the location. We were seated by the window overlooking the waterfront, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. They also offer free Wi-Fi, which is a nice bonus. If you're in Coupeville or visiting Whidbey Island, Molka Xete is absolutely worth the stop. Delicious authentic Mexican food, wonderful service, fresh handmade tortillas, beautiful waterfront views, and a welcoming atmosphere you really can't ask for more. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!
