Love this bakery/grocery on Kingston Road. Btw all the things you read about their sausage rolls are spot on! So good. They have a wide range of prepared foods (fresh and frozen), baked goods, imported items (jams, sauces etc) and fresh vegetables/ fruits. We loved the sausage rolls and the hot cross buns offered over Easter. We also tried their Steak and Guinness pies (frozen) although I did think it was odd they only had the crust on the top. They were very tasty though. We will be going back again and again. Do support local businesses when you can, especially when they are as good as this one. read more

I enjoyed the cinammon buns here. They were not a light or super soft texture but there was tons of very buttery topping which really made them hard to resist. I would get some of them again sometime. read more

Great local business with lots of homemade whole goodies like soups, tarts, pies, cookies, breads, and always fresh.

On the pricier side for lunch, but you get what you pay for. This place always delivers quality lunch time eats with excellent ingredients and fresh breads. I tend to grab a quick bite from here 2-4 days a week. They usually have one veggie option and one meat option for daily sandwiches or pizza squares (served 2-3 days a week). This is more of a grocery store than a restaurant, so don't expect to dine in. Everything is to go. Fridays used to be my go-to days for their pulled pork sandwiches. The pork is still amazing, but I actually preferred the cheaper buns they used to make the sandwich with. I still pop in on Fridays for their sausage rolls or pizza. Lastly, the people running it are absolutely lovely. Always feel good stopping by, and I recommend you do too for their cinnamon rolls, salads, sandwiches, or produce. read more

My only gripe with this grocery store, an independent grocery store, would be that they're not big enough to have everything you need in a pinch when it comes to groceries, it is very reasonably priced luncheonette not to mention their best aspect is the fact that they have so many great homemade foods. The owners are so nice and they have such a wide variety of various things that you could need a few ever get the time to go check it out and you're in the area pick up some items it's great and the staff is so nice I recommend this place to anybody. read more

The food in the back is incredible. Probably the best food I've had in Toronto. Amazing flavours that don't taste like restaurant food, but home cooking. The homemade frozen pot pies and Italian dishes are also really good and convenient to have in the freezer. Turkey pot pie is our winter fave. If you happen to catch a sausage roll left on the center table, count yourself blessed and grab it up, best sausage rolls ever. Courage Foods is a wonderful neighborhood shop. The owners really have a love of food and the community they serve. For such a little shop they offer so much...fresh and frozen take out, made in house that includes soups, curries, mac and cheese, and pastas. They are a YUMMY bake shop. Do not pass up a chance to pick up a ginger cookie, located at the counter. I will walk over with my daughter just to get one. They have fresh produce for sale that includes in-season fruits and vegetables and some processed preserves and cheeses that appear to be thoughtfully chosen. Last Thanksgiving I was able to preorder a sweet potato pie that was absolutely delicious. It was made fresh for us that day. This is what I love about this place. Overpriced and underwhelming. I stopped-in to grab a sandwich for lunch one day. It cost me 7$. It was literally just a sandwich and didn't come with any side. The sandwich was comprised of a croissant, cheap deli meat and some veg. There wasn't even any cheese on it. Not worth it, and when I inquired about a soup or salad combo, I was met with a blank stare. There are better options mere steps away. I've lived in the area for a while and never knew this place had a kitchen just walking by the storefront. I think the Yelp category of simple "grocery" doesn't help because Courage doesn't pop up when searching for dining options (although I don't think they need more publicity as they do brisk business). If you're looking for a flavourful home cooked meal for take out, this is the place. Great for those nights you don't feel like cooking. We've tried all their crockpots on rotation so far, their quiche is to die for and best pulled pork ever! Just be warned that you cannot be in a hurry. Service is friendly and very neighbourhoody, but a little on the slow side. Some might say it's pricey because it is food that you could possibly cook at home. But I think the quality, attention to detail, and delicious flavours make for good value. read more

This shop really helped me feel like a part of the community. The owners and staff are always friendly and welcoming. They recognize you and remember what you like. They participate in all the street festivals. When you enter the shop the smell is intoxicating (sometimes we get lured in by that smell from the street too). The prepared food (our favourites are pulled pork sandwiches with memphis sauce, brownie and sticky bun - which is so reminiscent of sticky toffee pudding) is always delicious! The groceries are good quality items with plenty of choice and often local and organic. We can always get our Elderflower Presse there too, which reminds us of our last favourite home, Cambridge, UK. read more

Fantastic locally owned and operated market, offering fresh fruit, veggies, baked goods, prepared meals and specialty items (think gourmet food products). They have a wonderful line of homemade preserves, jellies and jams. Best pulled pork sandwich we've ever found (usually available Fri-Sun). Great for fresh groceries but also a huge hit in the neighbourhood for a quick lunch (homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, gourmet pizza and snacks). Top notch local mini market with so many great options - everything one can need tucked into a small but mighty shop. The homemade goods are so incredibly good. I've tried the shepherds pie and brisket sandwich and both were so good!! I've also had their pumpkin pie and they carry a really awesome local dairy product. Overall this place is amazing.
