After 4 different therapists and multiple scans, many doctors thought maybe I just need some type of medication. I have asbergers and really bad anxiety so bad it was ruining my life. I tried a few other therapists who came well recommended and It just felt as if they were only listing and not coming up with solutions. The very first day I came into see Dr. Clatch the room he brought me in was very creative and almost heart warming in a way that just felt like a safe area to relax and just vent. When I started I had no car, no job, and no confidence in any of my abilities. After not even the first year after sessions with him he not only influenced me to get more comfortable and share my real feelings with people and overall become a more confident person he gave me insight a hope that came true. I could see myself becoming a happier person and just loving life and learning how to communicate better with people. I would have never typed this before all my words are from my heart and I have a job, a car, and now a beautiful Girlfriend whom I love very much. I've started to talk to people while waiting in the seating area and I usually try to ask them if they too are having the same kind of experience, and not yet has anyone told me that he was unprofessional or even irrational. I go every week and sometimes twice, all the people I see walking out look happy and that is not a lie. I don't need to promote this business I truly believe he is one of the most professional respectful and most kind heart'ed therapist that I have ever met. I met Dr. Clatch 3 years ago. I was looking for a therapist to help me and my son who has High Functioning Autism. I am writing this review in hope that someone will read this and be able to know that you can find peace and happiness for their entire family. For many years I had struggled with finding the right support that my son desperately needed. He was a teenager dealing with not only the struggles that come with Autism, but had anxiety and depression. I truly believe my son would not be here today if it was not for Dr. Clatch and his practice. He was insecure and struggling not only at home, but in school for many years. He did not have the skills to connect and communicate well with others well. But that has all changed. Our college aged child has been suffering from up and down grade performance since middle school. Considering how close they are to entering the world of work and responsibility, we felt it was time to get assistance from a mental health provider. We narrowed our search to several area psychologists covered by our insurance and talked about our child's case on the phone. The one we felt most comfortable with was Dr. Michael Clatch, of Courage to Connect in Glenview. We met with Dr. Clatch as a family and discussed problems we saw in school performance and social interaction. Dr. Clatch assessed the situation and laid out a game plan to meet weekly with our child, as well as weekly meetings with one of their academic specialists because he wanted to try and prevent another sub-par college semester GPA. From our perspective, Dr. Clatch and his associate has done wonders for our child! They have more self confidence, shown more responsibility, and consistently turned in work on time and achieved higher grades than in other recent semesters. They are still working on grade performance and social interactions, but the difference in attitude is significant! We could not be more pleased, and our child is happier too! I am writing this review for Jeannette Collier APRN, PMHNP-BC. My non-verbal, autistic, 12 1/2-year-old son had severe behavior issues that got so bad that he was no longer able to attend his school. Since he was three years old we have been seeing doctors to try to help this cognitive and behavioral issues. We've gone through all forms of medical and genetic testing. Finally, after seeing Jeannette, she looked at the whole picture to try to figure out why his previous medications were never successful for him. She explained his gene site testing results to me and was able to recommend a medication that has helped and completely changed his life. The medication has a very low physical side effect profile and has allowed him to be extremely successful in his new school environment and I have so much hope for his future. I felt that Jeannette really listened to our story and believed me. I feel so comfortable having sessions with her, and I know she has my son's best interest at heart. If you have an extremely disabled child and feel overwhelmed by going to big hospitals and seeing neurologistneurologists and their specialists, I suggest that you try to see psychiatry first. Jeannette will listen to you and she will make you feel comfortable even if your child is really struggling. She will not give up on your child. read more

I would strongly caution other parents before scheduling with Courage to Connect Mental Health Center. I began the intake process but stopped once I reviewed their cancellation policy, which charges fees regardless of notice or reason. As a parent, that kind of rigidity is not realistic, especially when dealing with children, illness, or unexpected situations. After learning this, I called their office, explained my concerns, and canceled the intake. I was told I would not be charged since I had not completed the intake paperwork and would not be proceeding. Despite that, I was later charged $150 for a "canceled intake" -- even though no session or service ever took place. This experience not only cost them a potential client, but raised serious concerns about their billing practices and lack of flexibility for families. Parents should be aware of both the strict cancellation policy and the risk of being charged even when canceling appropriately and before services begin. read more

It is really unfortunate to see negative reviews, because I have only ever been treated with the upmost respect and I think Dr. Clatch and his office staff are very professional and kind people. Courage To Connect was recommended to me by a friend and when I contacted them for more information, they responded immediately. I was able to schedule an appointment with Dr. Clatch for the following week, which seems to be faster than other therapists in the area. We feel like we struck gold!! Dr. Clatch has been so helpful to my family. We really can't thank him and enough! If you are unsure about whether or not to believe the haters I suggest calling and speaking to their office manager. Over the past 25 years, I have taken my autistic son to many psychiatrists and psychologists without seeing much progress. It seemed like the only thing of importance to them was our ability to pay the bills. When I felt hopeless about finding a good therapist, our MD referred us to Dr. Clatch at Courage to Connect. When my wife and I were looking for a therapist, we were hoping to find someone who could help with our son's anger management skills while at the same time give our family insight and tools on how to work together. I found Courage To Connect on google last year, and boy am I really glad I did. Dr. Clatch is a great doctor. He helped my son develop better communication skills and self esteem, and now my sons in college and he is doing great. My wife and I are really impressed. Roger is a great therapist, too, for us guys who want to beat depression. The office is very clean and nice, and I have never had to wait for an appointment. Brianne seems to run the office very well, she is very curteous and contacts my insurance co. for me (they take Aetna! Its a miracle!). Still happy with Dr. Clatch and our son is doing great (he actually just competed in his first mock debate at his school and we are so proud of him!!) But I did want to warn everyone that certain insurance companies are changing (I have APS and it's now going to be Magellan) and the insurance companies arent telling their clients! So if you are considering going to see Dr. Clatch or any of his other therapists make sure you know what insurance you have and ask if they accept it. Thankfully Dr. Clatch's office is working with me and my husband because our son is a current patient, even though Courage to Connect doesn't accept Magellan. The more you know, I guess! This practice is extremely impressive. I see one of the female therapists at the center, and she is GOOD. She is helping me tremendously through a very difficult time. They offer evening and weekend appointments, the office is clean and comfortable. Dr. Clatch (the owner) has checked on me a few times since I started, it's nice to know he cares so much about the people who come through the doors. If you need therapy....check them out.
