It's not shown in the photos but I was surprised to see several flies hovering around the bagels. Since the bagels are out in the open, I think they definitely should do a better job of keeping them covered to keep flies away. Especially, now it's summer time, it'll be even more important to keep the food clean and protected.

The bagels here are pretty good. I do find it a bit overpriced. A bagel and cream cheese will cost you about $7. Today I noticed both a surcharge for credit card and a charge to toast my bagel...neither of which I was informed about. I have never been charged a toast fee

I and some friends stopped here for a quick breakfast aB1 sandwich - egg, chorizo, pepperjack cheese, jalapeños, onions on an everything bagel. I've been dreaming of that bagel ever since. Perfectly toasted, solid flavors, and filling - everything I ever want in a bagel. Do some shopping on court street and stop by for a little midday meal!

If you're coming to Court Street bagels strictly for the bagels (and maybe cream cheese), this spot is ELITE. The bagels are perfectly chewy and not too dense in the middle. I'm absolutely obsessed with the pumpernickel, but you can't go wrong with any of them. That being said, I'm more of a bagel sandwich than a bagel and cream cheese girly (because protein). I really enjoy the sandwiches I've had (particularly anything with lox or eggs). The sandwiches are fresh and decently portioned. I do find they can be a little bland/under-seasoned (nothing that a little hot sauce can't fix), but the bagels alone are absolutely worth the trip! I would like to request that y'all fix your online ordering system so that each numbered item on the online menu also has a description :) We end up ordering in person every time because we don't know where the numbers are!

I was on a hunt for a new bagel spot as my local place was becoming not so tasty anymore. Food: I ordered a bagel with avocado and turkey bacon and tomato and was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality. Service: The cashier was kind and pleasant. I will definitely be returning. Ambiance: Standard bagel shop. Roomy enough for seating, small but just enough space to maneuver around and dine in if you choose too.

What a find! Had a delicious everything bagel with egg and turkey and it did not disappoint. This place is small but it sure does get busy and packed! The gentleman behind the counter on Friday morning was the kindest person ever, not only with new customers, but with his regulars also. Service was fast and fyi cash only!

10/10 bagel shop in Brooklyn! My friend and I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan just to try it after researching the best bagel shop in NYC. Well worth the walk! Be prepared to wait, it's a small place but they work fast. It's also CASH ONLY, so plan accordingly! Lots of bagel options, and even more cream cheese options to pair. I went with the Sundried Tomato cream cheese on Everything Bagel. Look at those chunks of tomato! There was no shortage of shmear on that bagel. My friend got the Apple Cinnamon cream cheese on a plain bagel and raved over it, too. We also witnessed the sweetest thing while there. The owner is super hands on, I get the sense he's there every day. A couple of patrons didn't realize it was a cash only place and got to the point of paying when they realized it. The owner kindly told them it was no problem, to just come back later to settle up with him. I thought that was so kind of him! It really says a lot about him and his business. He truly cares about his patrons. I was also amazed at how cheap it was! I think my bagel with cream cheese and a Diet Coke can was $4.50! Please add Court Street Bagels to your list of must try places in NYC. I can't wait to go back!

In the morning when coming home from work, I would walk by. One time I stopped here to check it out. They do have a large variety of bagels.

Go to bagel place in the neighborhood. They have good vegan options. Quick service. Good (not great) coffee.

If you are in the neighborhood, you should pop in and buy something to show your respect. What you should buy is the herring. And specifically, if you happen to be lucky enough to stroll in during Holland Herring season in June/July, that is the herring to get. Even if you just had a giant meat based meal a couple doors down, you can still make room for one herring. Consider it the Jewish equivalent of surf and turf. Although one of my friends said visiting both LES icons was more akin to a "bang bang". Sometimes it's the small shops that make the biggest mark. This is certainly the case with R&D. The place is tiny, but the fish is mighty. I can't speak highly enough about the Holland Herring. So silky. So delicate. So much fun to eat. Held up by the tail, dragged through a mix of chopped onions and pickles, and lowered down into your awaiting mouth. These things are large. They are going to take a few good sized bites. Enjoy the contrast of textures and flavors. Tilting your head back to eat it almost demands that you close your eyes and savor every moment. Yes, the entire herring case is a marvel. While most folks will walk out of R&D with nova (what most people call lox, but is really cold smoked salmon), the real score is the sable and sturgeon. Or, if you are a salt lover, you can get legitimate belly lox here too. It satisfies the soul to see an appetizing store holding the line. Sure, you can put your smoked fish on a bagel or bialy with cream cheese. However, I submit that fish this good should really be enjoyed in its purest form. Maybe if you want to cut the salt, lay some on a thin piece of old world 100% rye bread. Not the squishy deli stuff, but the hard eastern European kind. Perhaps a dolop of sour cream. A few chives if feeling fancy. My old cantor used to love creamed herring with pickled onions on chunks of challah. If you go the herring route and it's not Holland Herring season, I fully endorse this approach. But don't sleep on the Holland Herring. Get one. Eat it on the bench outside or bring it across the street and eat it standing up in the park. I heard rumor that once upon a time folks would eat them right at the counter. That seems a little messy for my taste, but far be it from me to keep a herring lover from their delightful fishy morsels.

It's a pretty spacious bagel spot with ample seating menu's with pricing for all items they sell which is helpful. Food: 3/5 I ordered a jalapeño bagel with turkey bacon, and scrambled eggs. The bagel was okay nothing to rave about your standard bagel. Nothing to make me fave about it. The texture was chewy and a bit doughy if you like your bagels that texture this may be the spot for you. Overall my bagel was about 10-12$ I believe. They charge extra for a rainbow bagel and other specialty bagels like jalapeño. Which is pretty expensive so make sure you're aware of that. Service: 3/5 The customer service was mediocre. The guy at the front wasn't the most pleasant. Very much get you in an out top of place. They weren't rude but not the most cheerful I'd say. Ambiance: 3/5 standers bagel shop nothing really impressive or spectacular. I will say when in the area due to the lack of places to eat that make REAL food. I have come back here and the bagels have been decent. Would like the staff to be more pleasant.
