Miss Bagel has good food, but the operation seems completely overwhelmed. We've given them multiple chances, and breakfast sandwiches routinely take 30+ minutes to be ready after ordering in person. Ordering online doesn't help either: multiple times we've arrived after the stated pickup window only to find they haven't even started our order. They're also frequently out of items we already ordered. Most recently, they told me they were out of everything bagels--even as I pointed out an everything bagel sitting there. Today was the last straw. I waited in line for about five minutes without a single order being taken. The guy ahead of me and I both eventually walked out. The shop was mostly people standing around waiting for food, with barely anyone actually eating. The food may be worth a short wait, but not this level of unpredictability. read more

It's not that bed stuy lacks good bagels. It's that it lacks good bagel shops. Many of them are sardine-tin-sized pick-up-and-go joints. Most of the time, fine. But Miss Bagel delivers in more ways than one. Decently-sized shop, friendly people, and everything tastes fresh. What's really impressive is the creativity. The Xian Famous Bagel is inspired - the combo of chili oil, scallion cream cheese, egg, and hashbrown is *chef's kiss*. Exactly what you want in a breakfast sandwich. And the bagels pack that classic, Brooklyn fluff. (Could maybe use a touch more seasoning on the everything.) But they also offer delicious non-bagel sandwiches - which pleasantly surprised me. I got the sunset park chicken cutlet hero. The bread is nice and springy, the schnitzel has a great crunch, beautifully sliced onions/lettuce, and the sandwich was still warm after a long walk home. Versatility and quality. That's what makes Miss Bagel special. The purveyor of all genres of hangover cures. Oh, and the babka SLAPS - chocolate bomb of deliciousness. Add bacon if you eat bacon, the hash brown is so crispy and flavorful, egg is not too runny or overcooked, the scallion cream cheese perfectly compliments the hot oil. My first New York bagel and I love it. We ordered ahead on their website. They made the cortado when we got there. I think it was very considering as the drink could get cold quickly in cold weather. Unfortunately we got this delivered so I can't say anything about the shop itself. The bagel had good flavor (I wished it was hotter). I got cucumber and dill cream cheese and it was quite flavorful. I visited this place on 8/16/23. Not only were the bagels bland as can be and the sandwiches tasteless, but the service was unfriendly and slow. The bagels at the local deli are better. After posting a similar review on Google, the owner and her husband retaliated against me by posting fake and defamatory reviews about me as an attorney (I practice in California). When I discovered it was the owner's husband who posted the reviews, I contacted them and advised I would take action if they were not removed. Not only did they NOT delete these highly offensive and fake reviews of me, they were edited to be even more egregious. Needless to say, I have taken action. Pleasant, great customer service and we did not wait long for our bagel sandwiches. The food - we ordered: Bagel with Scallion Cream Cheese - my daughter enjoyed this on a garlic bagel and was surprised of the generous portion of cream cheese. Ate it all and whatever excess cream cheese that spilled onto the waxed paper. Thumbs up! Bagel BLT - not on the menu, but I asked on behalf of my wife and the worker said no problem. She actually needed to take a photo of it because it looked that good. Tasted even better as well. Avocado Toast Bagel special - my son ordered this and used a lot of expletives to describe how good this was. Yesterday, I had the Taylor's Ham Egg and Cheese sandwich (not pictured) on an everything bagel. I am not from Jersey and had never heard of Taylor Ham. It's like having ham bologna that looks like thinly shaven pepperoni or spam. I didn't hate it but wasn't pleased with my brunch bc of it and the egg is hard fried. Today is a new day. I went back to Miss Bagel and learned about Taylor ham. Cool. I love that I tried a regional favorite. I asked if Miss Bagel had any other ham. They offered sliced smoked ham. The Smoked Ham Egg and Cheese everything bagel (I added mayonnaise to mine) was so good. The mayo and melted cheese paired perfectly with the smoked ham and everything bagel. This is why this sandwich was simple and delicious. The smoked thinly sliced ham was the star. The bagel sandwich was tall given the sliced ham so I had to press down onto the sandwich to take a bite. Given how wide my mouth had to be to get around it, the smoked and salty sweet aroma of the sliced ham coupled with the melted cheese and spices of the everything bagel made for a surprisingly satisfying urban umami moment. The egg is more hearty than it is memorable due to it being more of a browned hard fried accompaniment to the rest, yet for a girl who loves a tasty ham, cheese, egg sandwich, I absolutely recommend giving this breakfast sandwich a shot. If you don't know the Taylor, don't stumble on it. I recommend the smoked sliced ham, egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel with mayo for added creaminess if you like it. It's a bagel spot with pretty good food. Except... instead of ducking in and grabbing a bagel within a few minutes, you're typically waiting 15-20 minutes. I cannot comprehend how slow this place is. Typically there's a cashier and then 1-2 folks in back slinging food/coffee. They seem to get caught up in personal conversations a lot, with a line of customers standing there awkwardly. Also, despite ordering very specific things, I consistently find random spreads or toppings added to my bagel. It's one thing if I was ordering a specific special that came a certain way, however on multiple occasions I've ordered a BEC and have ended up with: chipotle/sundried tomato spread, pesto spread, jalapenos, and cream cheese in one case. Not sure if this is purposeful ("let's add some culinary flair!"), or just getting orders mixed up. IDK. It's a shame -- they have a great location in Bed Stuy (not a whole lot of other bagel places around), and frankly the food is very tasty, but the service is unfortunately lacking and makes me hesitant to come back here instead of hitting up a bodega for an admittedly inferior food product, but much faster service. read more
