    Classic Bagel & Lox Sandwich
    Christina C.

Walk in and take a number the entire café was full of people waiting. Service was finally, but really the stand out is the lox bagel, with the scallion cream cheese, which was fantastic. Garlic bagel flavor was also very good. I also got a cinnamon raisin bagel, plain cream cheese and I wasn't too impressed with that. Got at latke but it wasn't warmed up and I wanted to eat warm not cold. Defineirly has the feeling of old shop with charm and character.

They clearly prioritize hygiene here. The interior is so spotless that it is pitiful! On 6/20/26, I purchased food that I cannot get anywhere else: smoked trout mousse (relatively low in sodium), authentic pumpernickel bread (recommended for its comparatively low glycemic index), and in-house smoked Gaspe smoked salmon (relatively low in sodium). Everything tasted phenomenally good. Miguel had given me samples of some food so I could make a decision about what to purchase. This place is not the cheapest, but you're paying for top quality. You can't go wrong here. My customer experience was exceptional.

Everyone comes here for the amazing bagel sandwiches, but you can also just taste some of their incredible fish by itself. That's what I like to do when I come to this fish heaven, to eat layers of stained glass thin gravlax and smoked delights.

I came to Russ and Daughters with my sister to try their bagels and we had a good time. You get a number inside, and it is pretty crowded. The area is smaller, but there are arrays of smoked fish and other delicacies around. There is some seating outside. The person making our bagels was so meticulous when preparing the sandwich! It really shows how much care they have with every order. The bagels themselves were good. It filled us up, and the flavor is what we expect! Fish quality is good, and I liked it! I got the Super Heebster, and the whitefish was good too.

The bagel is crispy, the lox is super fresh. But I do wish they added more lox, considering the $17 price tag. The addition of the scallion cream cheese alongside tomato, onions, and capers tied everything together. I also got the freshly squeeze lemonade which was actually really yummy. More tarte than sweet There was a little bit of a line but it moved pretty quickly

100% hype is justified. Probably the best bagel I've ever had. I got an everything bagel with salmon with scallion cream cheese and would say you can't go wrong with this combo. The bagel seasoning was on point, the salmon was fatty, rich, and tasty, and the scallion cream cheese was a nice touch compared to your standard cream cheese. Would recommend ordering online for pickup to skip the long line. There's no seating at this location but there is a park across the street diagonal to the store with benches.

World class bagels. When the regular bagels are they're toasted they can be a little hard. The gluten-free bagel with vegan cream cheese is stellar. I got it two days on the row and it's I absolutely lovely. They have counter service, no inside seating. You take the ticket and then they usually call you in order based on the screen showing the next number. I didn't have a world class experience though the second day I ordered here. Vanessa took one look at me, made eye contact for about three seconds and then decided that she was gonna take the order from people who arrived after me maybe cause she just liked the look of them better, thereby skipping my number . They weren't even ready to order either which made it especially awkward, and she didn't call any numbers so I would've been an asshole if I jumped in and said "No I was actually here first." After she took their order, I actually checked with them to make sure that they did in fact come after me and had a higher numbers than me. Vanessa, in the future, just call the numbers in order. At work be professional and follow the systems that your employer has put in place because it's not a good customer experience to feel discriminated against. I didn't say anything at the time. I just left a tip and checked with another employee to make sure I knew her name, for the proposes of this review. But, it was INCREDIBLY awkward because two other employees called my number and the number after mine, which were the numbers that belong to me and the people Vanessa helped. The bagels were five star, but I knocked off a star for Vanessa's lack of professionalism.

This is a great shop for bagels and everything to go with the bagels. Have coffee, some pastries and cake cakes tons of bagels and toppings. It has great historical value as well. This is one that if you're in this part of town you drop into. This place was established in 1914. It looks the same as it did back in those days.

Good people work here. Good people making Good food. What more do you want. Spacious, famous spot serving up NY classics like Bagels and Lox, Matzah Ball soup and Latkas. I opted for the Horse Raddish Spread to give it some kick and was happy with the outcome. Bagel was toasted, but still soft and everything tasted fresh. Lots of seating inside if you want to eat as the store is quite large. Ended up taking home some Rugalech as well. The staff were super genial and approachable. 4th Generation family run business. You can't go wrong here. Prices aren't the cheapest but despite being "only" a bagel, this is the best in the biz and the biz is competitive in this town

2026 New York. Bagel and schmear. Third (?) visit. Super Heebster $19.00 Whitefish and Baked Salmon Salad, Horseradish Dill Cream Cheese, and Wasabi Roe Overall, always great. "As good as it gets."

Yelp Review 2026 #8: I love lox and bagels. This Russ & Daughters location was within walking distance from my hotel and they open somewhat early. They have a cafe at a different location but I heard it gets busy. All I want is food and don't need vibes in the morning. It's a takeout spot. It wasn't busy when I came here. The best part is I was able to place my order online and just go to the pick-up counter making it even quicker and more convenient. They have pickled herring, canned fish, different kinds of salmon, a variety of cream cheese and spreads, smoked fish, roe/ caviar, babka, bagels, olives, latkes, fried fruits, jams, pickled vegetables, cookies, chocolates, candies, etc. And that's what ate up most of my time. I may have gotten my food quick but getting distracted with the fun stuff they have and checking out everything in the store made me stay a bit longer. I got my lox and bagels and it was delicious. The bagel had a nice chew - the perfect New York bagel and the lox was absolutely smoky and tasty that's balanced by a nice schmear of cream cheese, tartness and saltiness of the capers, and little crunch and zing from the onions. You can't get this anywhere else!

I finally got to try Russ & Daughters after seeing so many YouTube reviews that had me drooling and wow, it absolutely lived up to the hype. Probably the best lox bagel I've ever had. There was something different about the fish compared to the usual smoked salmon out there. I had the classic on an everything bagel and added the caviar cream cheese, my gosh, deliciouJust look at the photos and you'll see how generously packed it was with thick layers of salmon and cream cheese on both sides. Totally worth it. Will come back!

    Lina L.

I love I love I love. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this bagel had me emotional like actual teary-eyed on the bus afterward because it was THAT good. I ordered the classic lox bagel and wow... genuinely well worth the $20. The bagel was soft without being too chewy, and the lox was silky, rich, and tasted insanely high quality. Just really beautiful smoked fish done right. You can tell they respect the ingredients, and honestly it shows in every bite. I would crave this again immediately. If you love smoked fish, you probably already know this place. And if you don't... prepare to become a little dramatic about a bagel like I did. Next time I might just get the fish and assemble it myself with my own bagels because that's truly the star of the show lol Humble, classic, and weirdly emotional in the best possible way ever.

I arrived & joined the line at 12:05pm on a Sunday (5 mins after opening) and waited until 1:10pm before ordering. The line is deceiving since more than half of it was inside but I didn't realize how far it extends to the register where you actually order. There was around 40 people waiting when I got there...again, 5 minutes after opening. Anyway, I committed to the line and realize it's wildly inefficient. There's only 1-2 people taking orders and 2-4 different workers standing around or doing something occasionally. They really have to figure out how to reduce these inefficiencies, at least on weekends. Now for the food, it's definitely amazing for NYC standards but not quite as good as Texas, in my opinion. The Brisket had some tender & juicy bites which I loved but most of it was on the dry/lean side. I wish the worker asked us for our preference. The Pastrami Sandwich was a good try and only available on weekends. The meat is smoky and savory, and tangy from the brown deli mustard. I actually loved their Mac & Cheese! It was so creamy, cheesy, and satisfying. Even the Hometown Slaw was just right. Not too creamy, not too vinegary, and gave us a fresh bite to cut through all the savory meat. The worker was nice enough to give me some pickled onions which I absolutely love with my BBQ. I wish they had some more local beer options but the Stiegl Goldbrau Lager Pint was great to sip on as someone who likes light & refreshing beers. Despite the atrocious wait time, I'm really glad I got to try it!

Like many restaurants on Stone Street, the outdoor seating is made up of large communal picnic tables surrounded by TVs, making it a fun place to catch a game. The atmosphere is lively, especially during major sporting events, so if you're bringing a small pup, I'd recommend keeping them in a carrier while walking through the crowds or tucked safely under the table once you're seated. Unlike some nearby restaurants, the staff immediately brought me a fresh water bowl without us having to ask. That simple gesture always makes me feel welcome. Mom ordered the fried chicken, and wow...the portion was enormous! Three crispy pieces of chicken served with cornbread. Honestly, it may have been the best fried chicken she's had in Manhattan. Naturally, I was lucky enough to receive a few bites under the table, and I can confirm it was delicious. The cornbread was another standout--served with hot honey, although it was so good it easily stood on its own. Dad ordered the pulled pork...which looked fantastic. Unfortunately, he decided sharing wasn't part of the meal plan because he cleaned his plate before I could negotiate a sample. Between the welcoming staff, generous portions, and excellent comfort food, Route 66 is an easy place to recommend if you're spending time on Stone Street. Dogba's Verdict If your humans are craving BBQ or incredible fried chicken after a day exploring FiDi, Route 66 is a great stop. The seats were weird though. They were tall enough where you can't reach the ground, yet the depth and slight incline of the bench left me feeling that I was going to slide out of the seat. We ordered a bucket of chicken tenders with fries along with Mac and cheese. The food was average at best and was lacking seasoning / flavor. The chicken tenders were more like sliced chicken...they were thin pieces - and they needed salt. The Mac and cheese was also lacking salt. With the Mac and cheese, there was something missing along with the salt, but I couldn't place what was missing - I wasn't a fan. The restaurant itself is a fun place. They gave games, good music and there's some good people watching. The place wasn't bad - it just didn't wow me at all.

We arrived on a Saturday the place was absolutely packed but we were seated within about 5 minutes. We were seated right near the smokers and it was so cool to watch them prepare each dish. The presentation here is phenomenal as is the quality of all the meat here. A fresh salad with oil was brought complimentary to the table and it was delicious. We ordered the Buffalo smoked chicken wings and Baba-Ghanoj for appetizers. The chicken wings were so tender that as you picked them up the meat literally fell off the bone! The sauce was subtle but had a nice Buffalo kick at the end. The baba-ghanoj was served cold and was perfect with a little sprinkle of salt. The fresh pitas paired perfectly with it. I'm glad I did my research on this spot as everyone recommended the fresh mint lemonade. Wow amazing and refreshing I love that it came out as a slushy like consistency. I could easily drink them all day and they're probably amazing to eat outside in the warmer months and enjoy. We each ordered the meat platters in 1lb portions which are served with fresh smoked rice that is so good and filling. I wanted the beef shank but sadly they were out and ordered the smoked beef short rib. They served everything on a platter for us which the presentation I must say is outstanding . My boyfriend ordered the smoked brisket and it was so tender and flavorful he kept saying "it's terrible you won't like it because he didn't want to share it at all LOL". We had no room for dessert but I cannot wait to return for our next dinner date night! I would definitely give it 4/5 stars. Nothing was terrible the only complaints I had is once we were seated and our order was taken our server asked if we want appetizers first which we said yes and everything came out at once. Which is fine not terrible just our table was packed and hard to eat. Additionally once our food came out it was hard to get anyone's attention for more drinks but it was no too much of an issue that it ruined the night as they were definitely way too busy and seemed to be short staffed. I definitely want to return and check out the rest of their menu. I highly recommend making the trip to Kanoon!

Anyway, I'm glad I read the reviews and checked out what we wanted to order beforehand, and asked questions at the cashier. Sure, it's not that hard, but one really shouldn't have to actively track down multiple staff for directions on where to go or how to order at a restaurant. The deal is: decide which meat(s) you want from the poster (there is no menu), place your order (sold by the pound) with the cashier, pay, go to your table, and a server will bring the food to you when it's ready. The meat is (at current writing) $45/lb with unlimited sides and soft drinks. We ordered 1 lb each of beef brisket and lamb shank (1 lb = 2 shanks), which was the perfect amount of food for us 2 hungry adults, 2 teens of modest appetite, and a toddler of negligible appetite. The meat is simply seasoned (Arab bbq style) and came out lukewarm, but is off-the-bone tender and we enjoyed them with the variety of sauces. There are four types of sides: cucumber & tomato salad (good), spring mix, saffron rice (fine but my toddler loved this), and mashed potatoes (bland). It is a well-balanced meal, not too heavy. The chefs are friendly and we watched one film a demo almost certainly for social media. He even let us taste some of what he was seasoning, though there were no pyrotechnics as I had hoped from seeing some of the reels. The service wasn't bad - not terribly proactive but not non-existent either, and we always received what we requested. They could do better with customer guidance, but now that I know what's up I'd come back for the food and would like to try some other meats next time. Meat Moot has many franchises across the Middle East and Turkey, and NJ is one of only 3 locations in the US (the other 2 being in the Midwest). Street parking only.

I've had many BBQ experiences across the states. This is by far the worst one with the driest meat…read morethat my party and I have ever tasted. Granted - we hope it was because we ordered this for delivery and that the flavor and texture changed somehow somewhere during transport. We had the brisket, pulled pork, and mac & cheese. Both of the meats were dry to the point I had to stop eating within a few bites. The mac & cheese was the better dish but it was still soupy with not a lot of macaroni in it. If I wanted to order a soup, I would have ordered a soup. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I'll stick to Fette Sau in Williamsburg.

First off the customer service here was beyond anything I've encountered in recent memory. They're new and want to make an impression I'm sure - and it shows. Everybody made sure that we were well taken care of and everything was to our liking. We had the pork belly, gochujang wings, brisket and some drinks. Everything was great, quick to order, and delicious. Another reviewer said the gochujang wings were too spicy... Now granted I can handle my spices but I can genuinely say they were not too hot to handle at all - if you like spice. Less than habanero and more than jalapeño for reference. Games area was fun and cute and free. Nice place, good location in Astoria, great food, games and EXCEPTIONAL customer service. Hope to see more from them!
