Grabbed some pizzas to go on a Friday night during a Beer Week festival. Downtown Athens was jumping, as was Courtside. Very busy, but our pizzas were ready a little early. Credit to the folks in the back for their efforts. As for the pizzas themselves, they were pretty good, in general. Thoroughly enjoyed the Nashville Hot pizza, and the sausage on our BYO was quite tasty. Only complaint would be that they were a little doughy, and a few slices on the square cut BYO had no toppings on them. Overall, these were quality pies. Courtside wasn't around during my time here, so I'm jealous of the current students who get to enjoy solid pizza options. read more

Sunday, April 25th, stopped in at Courtside Pizza in Athens, Ohio with hubby, daughter and son in-law for a late much needed lunch. We parked in their private parking lot and went inside. The young man approached and said we could sit where ever we wanted and some tables in the back. We went and found one near the windows to watch the pedestrians walk by. The waiter came and asked our drink order. We had to QR read the menu on our phones. Tony asked for PBR but he brought a Budweiser. I had Pepsi. We ordered Fiesty Bold Jalapeño Poppers with Ranch dipping sauce (very good) and a small Supreme Pizza. It was all very good. Tony asked for another PBR and showed him the menu had PBR, but they brought another Budweiser. Noel and Adam ordered a sandwich and 10 Garlic Wings and Poppers also like ours..food was good but they only brought 5 wings instead of 10. Waiter seemed a little scattered brain. Potato pizza is pretty unique. Layered potato slices baked w ranch bacon cheddar and jack cheeses. Side of sour cream. Darned delicious! Decent pitcher prices - Sunday evening is a chillax way to watch a game or groove to the beats spun by the bartender. He takes requests... our particular evening was 90s rap. Too.... cool. First time I have had Courtside in about 8 years and it did not disappoint. Best pizza in Athens by a wide margin. They have recently added some new pizza's to their menu. We tried the "Loaded Buffalo Chicken" which had chicken, buffalo sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese and red onion. A great improvement over the already good Buffalo Chicken pizza. The bacon/red onion give the pizza a nice crunch to compliment the chicken. Their pizza has always been known to be heavy on cheese with crunchy crust which has not changed. Very cheap although note the prices have went up a buck or 2 which was not indicated on the website. Even with that getting a large specialty pizza for under 15 dollars is a steal. read more

I generally order delivery or pick-up from this place and the pizza is AMAZING, generous amounts of toppings and cheese, amazing sauce, and plenty of it. Excellent price, I believe you can get a large one topping for 7 bucks, delivered (less tip of course). They have slice night where cheese is a $1 a slice and pepperoni is $1.25 or $1.50 on Wednesday nights. If you eat in there is a full bar and pool table, however, be prepared as it is uptown Athens, and there are plenty of college kids to contend with! The pizza here is top notch. A large casual area decorated in a classic sports bar/ pizza shop theme allow plenty of space for large parties or a quick bite to eat. Plenty of HD screens show all your key sporting events. The pizza has a sweet sauce and the crust is thick, bready and sweet as well. One of my shining stars, Keely, is an attentive and approachable bartender making the service easy, breezy, beautiful, courtside. John is a secret pop that always gets the job done and makes. shit. happen. Grayson has one of the best ice throws in the game and brings the energy and music. Now to my girl boss, Rachel. Rachel is a manager at Courtside and keeps it all running with her badassness. Lenny is the flight and IPA expert that bring the noise. Anthony or as I call him, Tony, the door and security man is the powerhouse behind the whole operation. And finally, Ty. Ty is the king of the castle. Employee touched my butt then of course refused to admit that it happened when I called him out. While I'm telling him that he doesn't need to touch me in order to get behind the bar, other bartender interrupts me and demands my money. Most people tend to overlook Courtside when discussing the best pizza in Athens. I do think Avalanche is better because it has a wider range of toppings and I think the ingredients used are of better quality. However, Courtside is great for more classic pizza and it's inexpensive. I've never been for slice night, which is a great deal. I've also never tried some of their more nontraditional signature pizzas, but I've heard good things. Service has been fast and fine. I usually don't want to listen to the roar of the bar crowd, so I usually get my pizza to go. Courtside is a good alternative to Avalanche and it's much better than our chain options in town. read more

I ordered a pizza roughly around 10, its midnight and it still has not arrived even though they told me it would take 45 minutes to make.

Called in a pizza back in October over homecoming weekend on a visit to Athens at about 11:15 PM or so. The pizza was over 20 dollars plus delivery, but always willing to pay that for a local pizza place. However, after an hour and a half, no sign of the pizza. Called the place, and they said that it was "probably out for delivery, but we are too busy to know for sure". Almost 2 and a half hours from the order time, our pizza showed up! It was room temperature at best. We called in to let Courtside know, and they said they were "too busy to do anything about it tonight" and to call back the next day. I called back the following day, and they told me to "call later on in the week when the manager is in". After one more failed attempt to reach the manager, I finally just gave up. This service really sucks, and I understand that they can without a doubt get away with it because of how much business they do, but they really just do not care. So a few years ago we stopped to try a new pizza place to us. We instantly found a new favorite place to get pizza. For us this is what pizza should be. The crust is great and the sauce is amazing. The price is truly some of the lowest prices we have paid for pizza anywhere we go. Portions are good and we usually have a slice or 2 left. We drive almost an hour just to eat pizza. I went here to get some drinks with my boyfriend and it was a total shit show. We bought two doubles which weren't even doubles and found a table. As I reached under to pull out a chair the whole table fell down. I told the bartender that their property was faulty and our drinks were spilled in the process. They didn't care about it and couldn't even remake our drinks which we paid 22 dollars for. I use to spend a lot of time here but now it just seems like the owner couldn't care less who he hires or puts in charge. read more
