Used Expedia to book a suite. We got here, and they put us in a tiny room. We inquired at the front desk, and the nighttime guy was extremely sorry for the mix-up. We said no worries, and he assured us the next night would be in the right room. He even gave us the room number that we should have been in (301). The next day, I called the front desk, and Kimberly blew me off at first and blamed the third-party booking agent. Her attitude was terrible at best. Then she put the GM on. This lady was more condescending than Kimberly. She wanted us to pay MORE money to have the room we actually booked and paid for. Terrible terrible staff!!!! I am a Marriot Bonvoy for years. Maybe my worst experience ever at a Marriot facility. Dirty wash cloths in the shower, no toilet tissue, no cups for coffee, and no coffee downstairs at 6:30 A.M. The room was spacious and convenient for a one night stay. But it was also easy to spot that cleanliness was not a top priority either for the cleaning crew nor the managing staff. There was body hair throughout the room (the bathroom floor, tub, sink, toilet, behind the door, on the desk, on one of the beds). I didn't request a new room because I arrived after 10pm and was checking out early the next morning (around 9am). The front desk team was pleasant both during check-in and check-out. When scrubbing the sink and tub, the build up around the drain crumbled off very easily indicating it could use more thorough cleaning. We were visiting in Alexandria for a wedding and stayed 2 nights. The staff at the front were very polite and had a sense of humor. Our stay was okay. This hotel definitely needs to be fixed up. Our room had a what looked like previous leak in the ceiling that the drywall was never repaired. It was black. There was a strong mildew smell. Making your customers pay for parking per day on top of your stay when they have their own parking lot is kinda of ridiculous. No buffet breakfast just a restaurant. If customers pay to park you need to add free breakfast too. I would not stay here again. read more

stayed there this weekend while visiting family. the lobby looked updated but the rooms need a lift. my complaint is that we were not notified that there would be work on the hotel. at 6 am we were woken up by loud banging . When we called front desk they claimed they didn't know what it was but had other complaints. Everyone in the hotel was talking about being woken up that early on a Saturday morning. Workers were working on the roof. why would they start so early in the morning? They could have waited until at least 9 or 10 am. Also the desk could have notified us upon check in that there would be construction. The lack of concern from the front desk was obvious Also the tv went out that morning too. So we also was left without tv the rest of the stay . so we were unable to sleep , Relax or watch tv as we planned this weekend. That Is unacceptable. Wish I had stayed somewhere else . This has definitely been the worse stay I ever had at one of their hotels and should be compensated for at least one of the nights stay. read more

If all the hotels in the area weren't booked tonight, I would NOT be staying here! I've already gone through an entire packet of Clorox wipes cleaning up this germ filled, filthy room! Do not stay here!!!! After a very long day of traveling between three different cities, I was looking forward to a nice hot shower and a good night's sleep. I wish that were the case ... I checked into my room and immediately noticed the smell! I discovered it was coming from the closet. Their extra blanket and pillow are inside a plastic wrap, and they must have put them inside while they were still wet. It reeked of mold. My bathroom has urine stains on the floor and the toilet is disgusting! It is filthy and even has a yellowish-brown ring around the bowl. The light switches are so filthy that dirt is actually stuck to them and looks sticky. My headboard is covered with stains and you can clearly see that neither the housekeeping dept or management cares one bit about the cleanliness of their rooms. Dust covers the furniture and the floors are so dirty I won't take my shoes off. When I complained about the cleanliness of the room, I was told by the front desk clerk that their hotel is considered to be the most professional in the entire area! You be the judge after viewing the pictures of my room at check in. I was told the manager would be up to look at the room. He never appeared. In fact, I never saw him at all. I requested to be let out of my two night reservation but was told they would have to get permission from the manager. I suppose this is the same manager that was "on his way to look at my filthy room", and never showed up, since I never heard back at all. Save yourself the grief, hassle, and money (I am paying $192/night for this GERM INFESTED PIT)! Stay at a Hilton. I am a Silver Elite member but after today's experience, I will never set foot in a Marriott again (keep in mind, this is happening with the COVID-19 virus alive and kicking all around us)! Don't waste your money!! The quality of this place has gone down tremendously!!! Our room was dark, smelled like mildew. the shower door was coming apart at the top and bottom. Looks like someone tried to fix it with caulk? But they made a mess. We ended up checking out the hotel early and losing the money for half of our reservation because our room has baby ROACHES! The Assistant Manager refused to give us a refund because whe didn't "show him a body". I was speechless! Who would save that?! Oh well. We left and went next door where we usually stay. The staff was super nice and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and had all of the great amenities you woukd expect from a Courtyard Marriott. I stayed here for a weekend while visiting family in Louisiana. When I walked everything was spotless. It was exactly what me and my father needed after a long flight. The guest services were well. When I asked for an extra set of towels and clothes they didn't hesitate. The Starbucks at "The Bistro" was great as well. The WiFi is fast. I had my iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro (Mid 2017) connected and everything ran smooth. The TV has ESPN, History, 4 HBO channels, Disney, Nickelodeon, and 40+ other solid channels. I have been a Hilton loyalist for many years. This hotel will lead me to explore Marriott a bit more. It's clean, stylish and brand new. I am having trouble believing I'm in Alexandria (sorry Alexandria). I usually stay at a HGI and I didn't realize how much of a creature of habit I had become. Stayed for a week in this brand new, comfortable hotel. The staff was friendly and the room was continuously cleaned. The decor is upbeat and the hotel is very quiet. I had good reception and channel selection on the TV. The hotel is situated in a great location, within walking distance of a Taco Bell and Albertsons and a very short drive to Wal-mart, Best Buy, the mall, and several restaurants. My only complaints are there is no continental breakfast and the food they do serve is not that great. Also, the in room refrigerator is pretty much useless and there is no microwave. There is great free WiFi reception, however, and the curtains block out every shred of light from the outside! Big plus in my opinion! read more

I recently stayed at this Courtyard location in Alexandria the weekend of September 26-28th while visiting someone I knew in the area. I booked my reservation in advance. The person at the reservation desk seemed nice enough and pleasant. At first glance, my room appeared neat and clean...until I went into the bathroom. The floor had hair and dust as well as the back of the toilet. The shower door had black mold around the bottom of the inside door and grime on the walls and safety handle. This was not the result of one or two missed cleanings. The shower had not been cleaned in some time for the amount of build up showing on the walls, floor, and hardware. On my way out an hour later, I stopped at the desk and asked the same nice, pleasant desk clerk if she could have a cleaning person clean the mold and hair from my bathroom shower and floor to which she smiled and said, "Yes, I'll tell ____to clean it". When I returned later that evening, I didn't see anyone at the desk so I went straight up to my room. The bathroom had not been cleaned. There was an Albertson's located directly behind the hotel so I walked over and purchased a bottle of bathroom cleaner with bleach and a scrub brush. I managed to get most of the yuck off but all of it. The next morning, there were cleaning maid everywhere you looked in the hallways. The same lady was on duty the next morning but when we made eye contact, she disappeared in the back. After about 5 minutes of standing there waiting, my ride appeared in the front and I walked out only to see the same desk clerk outside smoking. She was out of sight behind a pillar in the front. When you walked outside from the front doors, I was hit with a blast of cigarette smoke. Ive stayed in many hotels in my lifetime all over the United States and abroad. Ive encountered instances where lodging a complaint to the same person a second time is just a waste of my valuable time. This was one of those instances. This is a well designed and decorated Courtyard. The rooms are large and comfortable. The lobby is spacious and pleasant. One downside is they have no complimentary breakfast or coffee program. They do have a Starbucks in the lobby, though, which is a convenience to guests. But of course that comes at a cost. I only stayed at this hotel one night, but it has turned into a week long dispute and waste of time. The hotel charged me twice (no, it's not a charge for incidentals, I had that charge on my credit card too) and the hotel staff were as unhelpful as possible. I'm not really sure why when a customer calls about being double charged that the staff thought it was a good idea to be downright rude. Hello, I didnt charge myself twice, YOU did. After talking with my bank, one charge came from keying in my credit card and another charge came from the staff swiping my card upon check in. If you're a gold or platinum reward member, stay elsewhere if you are expecting a free breakfast or substitue amenity for being a loyal Marriott guest. For some unknown reason, some Courtyards, including this one, provides no such thing. And no apologies either. They don't care. I do a lot of business here and always stay at this Courtyard. I have decided to stay elsewhere--where loyalty is appreciated. I would suggest the Holiday Inn Express, which is conveniently located at 2340 MacArthur Drive and has more amenities to offer. Horrible experience. I've booked two rooms for my cousins for Saturday, but the staff booked it for Friday instead. When they went to check in they couldn't and had to rebook the rooms, this is after I've been charged. I spoke with the employee about it and they said I would be refunded. A week later I still didnt receive a refund so I called and spoke to another employee about the situation and he said hes gonna talk to the manager and he would call me back. I waited 6.5hrs and no call back so I gave them a call and spoke to the employee again, and he said that the manager said that they couldn't refund me my money. So because of a mistake their employee made I've paid 206.40 for rooms that weren't used, and my cousin had to pay them another 206.40. read more

I love this property. We moved to the Marriott to stay for an extra day with family and we should have stayed here first. I have stayed here many times and even through it may not have the "freebies" that some Marriott status holders prefer, like a free coffee or adult beverage. It is a great property with a Market and Bistro. The outdoor area is great for relaxing. The rooms are clean, spacious and more importantly--QUIET. It is close to shopping and many restaurants. Marriott now has an app that you can check in early. YAY! It worked for us. I would recommend this property to anyone for business stay or pleasure. read more

At first glance this hotel looks above average. However, once the staff speaks you will soon realize you booked the wrong room. The cheap atmosphere and the "bartender" actually used the words "chickney" when I asked how the chicken ceaser salad tasted. If you are going to charge 11$ for a pile of bagged romaine at least provide decent service. Ordered a Blue Moon, the manager went to the gas station and bought a 6 pack and then charged me 9$ for one beer. I would never stay here again. read more

This is is a great hotel. Everything has been recently updated. The rooms were clean, the lobby was very nice, and the staff were great. I have no complaints at all on this hotel...except from time to time they prices sky rocket to unbelievable heights. I've seen this place go for anywhere from $110-$180/night. I spend lots of time in Alexandria for business. However, I only stay at the Courtyard when their prices are reasonable, about 25% of the time. I haven't quite figured out why the prices spike from time to time, especially when other hotels in the area are at their usual rates. Oh well. Its worth it when the rates are in the $130 range, but once they go above that I stay at the Comfort Inn and Suites. Other than that a great hotel. read more

I had a wonderful stay at this Courtyard hotel. The room was very clean when I arrived, and the housekeeping service while I was there was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful...upon my arrival I discovered that I had forgotten the key to my luggage lock! Panicked, I called the front desk. They were at my room immediately with tools and were able to get it open. The room was excellent overall. Great size, and included a small fridge and microwave. The bed was incredibly comfortable! I usually have trouble sleeping away from home, but I slept like a rock here! There is complimentary coffee in the morning served in the very nice lobby. I enjoyed sipping my coffee while sitting in one of the comfy seats in the lobby watching the morning news and reading the paper before heading off to work. I didn't use the available business center, fitness area, or pool but they did look nice. I did, however, take advantage of the free wi-fi...a definite plus. The location is great...everything you could possibly need is within walking distance, and everything else is just a short drive. I definitely recommend staying in this hotel when visiting the Alexandria area! read more

It's really a 3-star rating. But they try really hard, the outside fire pit and lobby-bar area is really nice, and this rating is relative. Relative to the podunk town and the other hotels this one rates a four. Great staff, problems are inconsistent housekeeping. Every other day I would find a hair in the new towels. Sometimes they were really thorough though: one time I was leaning over to reach something in such a way that I saw a glint under the bed, I checked it out and it was a woman's earring fomr a previous stay. I left it in place. A day or two later I found it (and its twin) nicely placed on the night stand . Housekeeping must have found it and assumed it belonged to my party. Of course it didn't, but this shows how thorough they were in cleaning/inspecting. Sometimes. Overall, yeah, great place. Exercise room is typical - a few elipticals, small room, a couple of treadmills. Water was always cold in it and there were always towels for working out. They have a bench and a set of dumbells so that is nice. They have a nice pool but it was February so... I was there on business, not vacation, so was hardly in the room. Pretty much sleep, shower, check some emails then out the rest of the time. I would use it again as my default go-to in that area. read more
