Slightly on the older side when it comes to room amenities. The property is kept in good shape so it's not very noticeable if you're not a regular traveler. My last visit I was here on business but was able to have my wife along for the short trip. She had a run in with a supervisor of the housekeeping department. I left my feedback with someone at the front desk. I'm a platinum elite member so that allows me to check out later, 4pm late checkout if the hotel isn't overbooked. This stay they weren't. But this supervisor knocks on the door and says we need to checkout by 12pm. The desk agent said they had plenty of rooms. I wasn't in the room at the time this happened but I did seek him out to find out who he was. I informed him of my member status and walked away to speak with the desk agent. Still a guest at this hotel and just had to post my review here. Location is great and surroundings quiet and clean. First time in North Carolina. Checked in by a sassy young man, Robert. Made it clear, he hated his job. Room was cozy but remained quiet dark despite turning all lamps in room; the 2 besides were already falling out of wall. Unable to plug in most items i brought since al sockets in room do not have a USB or C. Was warned at check in, the Internet was down and we were asked to bring our laptops to front desk to get help with connection. First night was without incident until midnight when i felt warm and decided to turn make the room cooler by adjusting the AC, and took off the blankets(3 in total) and noticed stain and long strands of hair under the 2 sheets. Next morning requested my room cleaned because its done every other day as stated at check in. Came back and room wasn't cleaned. Spoke to front desk, a lady and a cleaner was sent over- showed her the stains on the blankets and asked if these are actually changed when rooms are cleaned, she confirmed "sometimes"...but she did bring in clean sheets and changed everything except the mattress. By evening- around 5:30pm, loud and banging music could be heard from the space right below me which happened to be a party space, this continued and at 9:30pm; I stopped by the front desk to pick up something and i casually brought up the loud music and Robert just went on and on yelling at me and again complained about how he wasn't paid for this and that and I should speak to the manager in the morning- no apologies or any professionalism at all. Music definitely wasn't reduced or off till after 10pm. I did inform him there was no need- and left. Will i stay at this location again- Definitely note. Main reasons I stay at the Courtyard is because of the laundry facility but the laundry here was a NO- smelled like sewage and was dirty. Overall- not a welcoming atmosphere. read more

This Courtyard location hosted our quarterly meeting. Upon arrival, I found the staff providing less than stellar service. I did not feel welcomed in this hotel. I was never identified as a Marriott Bonvoy member. I wanted to get a beer at the bar, but no staff were working. The room was OK, although the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Even during our all-day meeting, the service was abysmal. I hope UNC choses another host hotel for the next meeting. read more

I enjoyed staying here while on my business trip. I was automatically greeted with such hospitality and even given bottles of water to take with me to my room (something I am not used to). My room was very nice and clean and fully stocked with all the items needed. I already knew the hotel did not provide free breakfast when booking, so that was not an issue for me. The hotel does have a little restaurant/bar which I did not see was open when I would leave in the mornings, but I did go to the bar in the evenings and also experienced great service there as well. The location of the bar is very close to surrounding restaurants and the highway. I would highly recommend to those of you traveling to the area. read more

The hotel was accepting vacancies on a UNC basketball weekend so chose it relative to its proximity to UNC Hospitals. We booked our room using the website and were able to use points accumulated from being Silver Elite members. The room was clean, but the furnishings and decor were a bit dated. We crashed into our queen beds and enjoyed a quiet sleep. Breakfast is not included, but we were able to buy coffee and muffins from the kiosk Starbucks in the Marriott. No frills, but a comfortable sleep. Only complaint really was almost no toilet paper in bathroom, one roll was left empty and the other almost finished up. We would definitely stay here again though. read more

This also caused us to recheck in each morning, wasting time, Especially on a very important day. They have done no service recovery to help. Cleanliness: 3/5 Service: 5/5 Room was a bit stuffy and little bit of rust around the bath fixtures and drain. Then the water was shut off most of the day and when it came back on all the water coming out the taps was filled with rust. See attached videos and pictures. The staff was very accommodating during the issue and apologetic however it required my family and I to spend extra money on simple things like drinking water. We were still charged the full rate and even $6 for a small fruit cup for my son. read more

It seems to me now everything is excusable if company says "due to COVID....". We were not told that there will be no house keeping service prior to check in (nothing on webpage, no mention from front desk at check in) but no one came to clean the room, no fresh towels, no refilling toiletries. We, the guest, have to go down front desk and bring up the all of those stuff ourself. We paid to stay in hotel and need to do the job which hotel employees supposed to do!!! Wish things were at least notifies at the reservation. This was not our first time staying this particular hotel, and price we paid now and prior to COVID is not far different. That seems to me that we were basically paying way more since there services are way too worse now. Very disappointed. read more

The Marriot had a great reception area - fancy fireplace, a lounge area in the middle, to the side, and a restaurant area on the other side. However, the reception area in general is a small. We checked in pretty easily and were able to change our room without a fuss (from a King bed to 2 Queens). The bedroom was nice. The carpet did not look worn. The bathroom was very clean. My only gripe is that the mattresses seem to be a little old and did not offer much support. The pillows were also old - they seemed like a collection of all the unwanted pillows in the world. On the up side, the room was rather large, even having a desk and a love seat. By the way, only suites have refrigerators. Extra note - If you want to get a late check-out, you will have to ask the day of. If you stay at this hotel, you will probably need a car. There is a bus stop near the hotel, but it would be hard to get around town if you rely on the bus. The hotel is a few minutes drive away from UNC, Trader Joes, and Whole Foods. Overall, nice stay, I would stay there again, but maybe bring my own pillow. read more

We stayed for graduation weekend in a King Suite. We were very impressed with the service and location. The hotel itself is simple but adequate. The rooms are clean and simple with everything you need (ours has a fridge and microwave) but they are by no means trendy. The hotel has a small gym and an indoor pool. The parking is included with the cost of the room. We requested a pack and play and had no issues obtaining one. I was most impressed by the service. Everyone from check in to housekeeping was pleasant and helpful, especially everyone at the front desk. The Friday park and ride is located across the street from the Marriott and has shuttles to the UNC campus daily and during the graduation ceremony. A huge plus! There is a shopping strip located across a main road that has a Harris Teeter, coffee shop, pizza place, and cafe. Easy driving access! It's also a quick walk but there are no sidewalks. Overall a great location with amazingly friendly service! read more

I stay here quite a bit for work. Mostly have had good experiences except for 1 stay. Went to order food at the bistro and was told they were so backed up that I'd have to wait 45 mins to even place an order. I then went to the bar area to get a drink and there was no bartender to be found. Waited about 20 mins and asked front desk staff and was informed he stepped out and would be back if I waited.... The location is really awesome in terms of proximity to UNC and and the hotel itself is really nice and clean. An update: I fee like service has improved but the hotel could do with some updates to the rooms. Lobby is nice but AC unit was super loud in room and decor is faded and dated. read more

This IS the nicest Courtyard by Marriott I've ever stayed at. In fact, in nicer than a majority of their full service locations. The staff are incredibly polite, courteous and friendly, the hotel is fresh, spotless and welcoming. They have a nice Bistro which is somewhat comparable to most Courtyards in regard of food selection, there is a separate full service bar and tons and cool seating areas. The rooms are fabulous. They're clean, very spacious and up-to-date. Extremely nice location and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend and can't wait to visit again. read more

This Courtyard has all of the modern Courtyard updates like a grill and treats available, but also has a very nice bar with TV's, etc. It's close to town but outside of the most traffic heavy areas, as well as being very close to some nice restaurants, etc. read more

Do not stay here if you want any sort of fitness center. Extremely tiny space with 3-4 treadmills and a rack of dumbells. No pads, no benches, no machines, not even any space to lay down for floor work (if you wanted to be on a bare floor). Even if you were standing with dumbells, you practically are backed up against the person on a treadmill. Simply appalled Marriott pawns this off as a fitness center. Otherwise, the rest of the hotel is fine. read more

The front desk customer service was welcoming and spot on. They offered great restaurant selections and laughed with me easily. The room was standard, clean and nothing to really report. I enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. The only area I'm not 100% completely satisfied with was the "Starbucks" I purchased in the morning. The sign said Starbucks and the price was typical to what I pay but the drink on Saturday was average and drink on Sunday- TERRIBLE. I didn't even finish it. Single shot chai, soy milk, no foam. I ended up with hot milk with a flavor of coffee hinted (no chai) and lots of foam. Overall though, good experience. The staff at front desk should be recognized and rewarded for their good energy all weekend. read more

My husband and I stayed at this Courtyard for 3 nights this past weekend. We paid just a little more for a lovely upgraded king room, which was roomy and nicely appointed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the food and speedy service at the very reasonable cafe for breakfast each day. We had 3 items that could have made our stay even better: 1. Pay more attention to details of housekeeping. The room was clean, but on check in there was a clump of long hair that was left on the bathroom floor. Definitely not ours, as we have short hair. The second day, no coffee or fresh cups were left for us. 2. The coffee in the room was horrible, horrible, horrible. So having none the second morning wasn't horrible. But many hotels we have stayed in provides decent coffee to brew in the room, and leaves enough for more than one cup of regular and one cup of decaf. 3. No ventilation in the bathroom. While the infrastructure was in the bathroom, there was no venting. After a shower the mirror stayed fogged up and the room stayed hot and muggy. And that's encouragement for mold. We certainly would stay here again. Just wanted to point these three deficits out. read more

So far I'm totally happy with this place. The price is reasonable the room is an actual suite and it's pretty big! It has one and a half bathrooms which is a plus. The workout room is open 24 hours. They have a washer and dryer, which for me is a must! The only negative part is that the breakfast is pricey and doesn't look too appealing. It looks like nothing is nearby but there's several restaurants and a grocery store nearby. Plus I-40 is just down the street! read more

I wish I could stay I had a good or bad experience here, but I can't even tell you that because their customer Service is absolutely awful!! They don't respond to emails, or calls! I even left the GM a voicemail. I'm getting married nearby and wanted to select the hotel for my guest. I have at least 75 guest coming from out of town. Could have been bug business for them on a slow weekend, but customer service and a return call is very low priority for this hotel. A shame. I can't really find too much to complain about with this hotel. Gorgeous building with amazing landscaping. I did request a king bed room and they didn't have any ready, so I was okay with the double queen room which worked out fine. Very quiet in my room (never heard any neighbors), which was nice compared to other Marriotts I have been to. I paid $144 per night plus taxes, but it was part of a group rate for work. Two different times I needed something from the small store, and they ended up giving it to me free both times for no reason other than to be nice. The chocolate cookie with sea salt is amazing warmed up and I really like the black cherry drink. Overall nice stay, thanks! read more

Recently I spent 2 weeks at the Marriott & found the staff helpful & friendly. Most nights I had dinner at the Bistro, enjoying it very much. I probably tried everything on the limited summer menu. Jennifer was always willing to make me a Caesar salad to go with the delicious burger since I did not want fries. Our friend throws an annual New Year's party in Chapel Hill and rather than brave sketchy drunk drivers on the ride back home, we stay overnight here, which is in walking distance of her place. So for that, it is perfect. Rates are fairly reasonable and rooms are nice and clean. The only downside is, if you're staying with a group of friends, trying to get someone else to check in besides the one who registered is a pain in the butt. And you'll call in circles trying to find someone who will give you the right answer. read more

I stayed at the Courtyard for a week, and was at a class in one of the boardrooms everyday. Needless to say, I spent my fair share of time there :P The accommodations are decent, but the one day that I really wanted my sheets changed, I had to call and ask--housekeeping had just made my bed with the old sheets on it. They were very quick to rectify the problem, so I can't complain. I would not recommend the food at the hotel. The breakfast buffet is not too bad, but the lunch/dinner menu leaves much to be desired and is pricey. There are a few good places in walking distance, and the public transportation system is free and very easy to figure out. Also, the internet connection is very slow, but free. The front desk staff are awesome and really made the week as far as I was concerned. They had some great suggestions and even managed to find a corkscrew when we needed one...very strong kudos were in order. read more

My husband stays here for business at least once a week and the kids and I tagged along over Father's Day. Both my husband and I love this hotel. The is quite reasonable for the clean and comfortable room you get. The room is set up more for business where you can pull out the table to make an L shaped desk. The WiFi has never failed and you can't hear other customers. The amenities are fantastic with a snack room to purchase any last minute food, a bistro with Starbucks that is open for breakfast and dinner, and a small bar for my husband to get a beer at the end of a long day. The dining seating area is nice with small TVs in the booths and phone charging stations elsewhere. The pool is indoors and small but ok for just a quick dip. The staff has been exceptionally helpful, professional and friendly. I will keep reserving a room here for my husband as long as he comes to Chapel Hill for work. read more
