    Discharge into sink drain. WIERD/LOUD‼
    Doug C.

I enjoy it here. Note: Avoid room #237 (queen). A water/sump pump(?) is located in the wall next to the bed. It runs a few minutes, more often than every hour, day AND NIGHT. I tried to ignore it, but it is too loud. Plus, It discharges water into the bathroom sink drain. Again, this is loud (like flushing). Strange! Certainly a known problem and certainly not considerate of guest sleep. I was allowed to change rooms... but no apology. Beautiful views out the windows if you avoid those rooms looking at the parking lot.

Went out of my way to stay here while visiting a friend in Greensboro and had an amazing experience! We had a spacious and well appointed corner suite. The Front Office Manager Dylan was exceptional and enhanced my stay in every way. He really made me feel special. Also loved the history of UNC throughout the hallways. The Carolina Inn is very well maintained and updated property. Will definitely stay here again!

This hotel has a significant history and plenty of Old Money class, it is a wonderfully elegant hotel and apparently now participates in World of Hyatt. The Carolina Inn is a hotel listed on the National Register of Historic Places on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, it is centrally located to many restaurants and pubs, as well as the planetarium. Expect immediate help upon pulling into the driveway, the valets are immediately responsive and very willing to help you get settled into the lobby quickly. I have not experienced a more efficient check-in process for quite a while, the concierge is directly across from the front desk and a great resource. Unfortunately, the restaurant was completely booked so we made reservations for a spectacular restaurant within walking distance, I found this to be a better option after comparing the dinner menus. When it comes to afternoon tea or drinks, the hotel restaurant is a great option and offers very comfortable outdoor seating. Being in a pandemic many hotels are scaling back services, resulting in lesser cleaning standards, not at the Carolina Inn. I was very impressed with the level of cleanliness throughout the hotel, even the common areas were sheen and clean. With the exception of onsite dining options, this is a very comfortable and impressive hotel. Cheers!

Such a cute place and spread for afternoon Tea. I've always loved trying tea places when I travel and I've been wanting to try tea at the Carolina Inn for a while. Reservations book far in advance because it's such a little room and a short time window. I took my stepdaughter for the princess tea and she really liked it. It was great that they had kid-friendly options like PB & J. My husband was able to order from the bar menu which was nice. Everything was super cute. The scones were delicious and the tea pots were adorable. It was a little pricey, but I guess you're paying for the experience and atmosphere.

Went to the bar for a drink and dessert. Great food and the bar tenders were fun to watch and really on their game. Nice nightcap for a rainy night

I loved my stay at the Carolina Inn. Very friendly staff, from the time I pulled in to checking into the room to checking out. Had breakfast at the restaurant twice and the service was stellar there, as well. Can't wait to go back!

This hotel was recently renovated! It looks extra nice now! Very well put together. Washer and dryer for use in the hotel.

Booked the hotel for one night while I was visiting UNC. I loved the traditional/colonial and southern feel of the hotel. It recently became a Hyatt hotel, but it still has a small, cozy, local family-run vibe rather than another mass chain hotel. The front entrance and lobby are quite grand and had a traditional colonial vibe. My room was also very cozy and quaint, with lots of light blue (Carolina Blue to be exact) and wood decor. The bathroom was updated with marble tiles and new finishes. I also ordered breakfast for room service, and it was wonderful! It's convenient to the UNC campus, and I found it easy to walk to the buildings for my events. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Overall, I had a great short stay at the Carolina Inn, and I look forward to my next stay in a few weeks!

What else is there to say about this historic and iconic hotel? It's small and quaint, and feels like you're stepping back into time. The restaurants were closed during our stay, but our little room was nicely updated and tastefully decorated. I was a little worried the accommodations would be from the 50s but the rooms and bathrooms were recently updated and very convenient and comfortable. The service reps were all very nice as well. My husband got a bow tie from the gift shop but the shop didn't put price tags on anything. The bow tie was $53! That would be my only complaint - the lack of price tags on the gift shop items. I enjoyed being basically on UNC's beautiful campus and within walking distance of so many delicious restaurants

Entering The Carolina Inn is exactly what I pictured North Carolina to be during my visit here - charmed my socks off! The space is absolutely beautiful, all the staff is so polite, and walking through the halls and into the dining area with the marble tables and large seating chairs feels so elegant. Seriously, so charming especially all decorated in the holiday spirit! Not only that, but the food and cocktails were amazing, cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. The bread corn bites that you get for the table are sooo addicting - I almost got full from it! All the Plate portions are also very generous so there's enough to share around if you want. Foie gras mousse for appetizer doesn't seem like much, but when you add each element onto the toast, it's a punch of flavors and all the ingredients are so fresh. Jam and foie gras is such an amazing combination - can't go wrong ordering this for the table to share. The scallops were prepared with earthy tones which was different and delicious. The sauce and bed of rice underneath was perfect. We also got the gnocchi which was on the sweeter side but still yummy. Dessert we were stuffed but couldn't decide between the poached pear and chocolate cake so of course get both! Our favorite was the cake, very dense but if you love chocolate, this is perfect for you. I imagine this place is very popular for weddings and special occasions as it should be! But definitely stop in for dinner, you will not regret!

Lovely cute boutique hotel with nice amenities and friendly and helpful concierge. Beautifully decorated and clean, while the location can't be beat if you want to go for some awesome choices in dining about 8 minutes walk to the main Franklin Avenue. Very comfortable bed and quiet rooms. Lovely stay overall.

A very elegant restaurant in a historic inn. Came close enough to lunch time so we stopped here. Haven't been in this place probably in 20 years and it is as nice as it had been. We had the southern grits and shrimps and pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. Sandwich was in the traditional mustard and vinegar Carolina style. Staff were courteous and friendly. The building is a real classic so highly recommended to give it a try.

What can I say? The ambiance blows you away when you enter. The historic, vintage yet charismatic look and feel makes you want to stop right in the lobby, sit down and breathe in all the history before checking in to your room. But instead you take a few deep breaths and take in what you can and proceed to the desk to check in. Oh but before you do, grab a cookie or two from the complimentary cookie jar strategically placed right next to the check in desk. Peeking from behind the desk are friendly eyes with matching smiles. Within a few minutes you are politely checked in. Cruise on down the long halls with plenty more to see of the rich history of good ole UNC (Chapel Hill) that is. . When you finally make it to room after the welcoming educational delays, there is more warmth and delightful ambiance in store. A soothing mural drapes around your bed and you need to get dressed and go out to the events that await but you have to lie down, relax and take it all in instead. Unfortunately by the time I got to the room and was awe struck by the view, I had no more I wanted to photograph for others to view. I just wanted to relax and selfishly enjoy the ambiance and the view. Needless to say I enjoyed.

IMO anybody who has actually been to Italy would agree, every detail evoked the charm of a Tuscan villa but with the perfect amount of modern luxury. Our room was well designed and clean, and the overall experience felt truly elevated. But the true highlight was dining at II Palio (their signature Four Diamond restaurant). Simply put: the food was phenomenal. From the perfectly crafted brisket and short rib burger--to the house-made meatballs and incredibly seasoned, fresh oysters, every dish showcased top-tier ingredients and culinary precision. Finally, the overall service was exceptional: Hotel staff were welcoming and gracious as well as knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoyable. That said, the addition of II Palio is second to none! If you need/want a comfortable stay at a hotel, this is not it. This is not it…read more I'm writing this review at 5 AM after having had very little sleep last night due to the super uncomfortable mattress. I honestly feel like sleeping on the floor would have been as comfortable as this mattress in this room. And for what I paid for this room I expected much more, much better. Checking in downstairs I was greeted by a beautiful spacious lobby, a fresh scent in the air, and the check in reception desk staff was friendly and super competent. I chose to park on site because it was freezing outside and I didn't want to have to walk too far as I'm traveling by myself. Parking below the hotel is available for a cost. Getting down under the building in a larger vehicle can be a little scary. But I managed to easily find parking and hopefully later today when I leave, I won't have any issues. I took the elevator from the parking lot up to the fourth floor where my room is and easily found my room. But when I open the door to my room, it smelled like dirty sheets. Like dirty hair that needs to be washed. It did not smell like the fresh scent of the lobby. The decor is very masculine and uncomfortable. The couch that I sat in started to unfold itself as I'm sitting in it is the best way I can describe it. It's like it can turn into another bed in the room, but it's so poorly made that while you're sitting on it the bottom cushions start to slide out like it's going to turn it into the bed. Very uncomfortable and hard. The actual king size bed looks like it's going to be super comfortable. It's got nice, fluffy sheets and pillows on it however, I cannot get comfortable in it as it is hard as a rock. My hips are killing me and my right arm keeps falling asleep. I cannot find a comfortable position. There is no alarm clock, so I have to check my phone to check the time. Good luck figuring out the light switches. I spilled some water and there are no paper towels, so I chose to use a washcloth to wipe it up. Thefloors are laminate so wiping it up should've been easy and I expected the washcloth to be virtually clean when I picked it up, however it was filthy. So when was the last time these floors were mopped? And then I started looking around that's an area rug and there are several dark stains on the area rug. I had to turn the heater on because the air conditioner was running and the room was freezing. I mean outside it was 33°. The heater was so loud. I called downstairs and they offered to send someone up, but I was already in my pajamas so hopefully after I check out, they will check it out because it sounded like a freight train was in the room every time it came on. The walls are pretty thin and I know this is a college town and there was a concert here tonight. I knew that I would hear sounds from the street, but it was the sounds from the hallway and the rooms around me that was super annoying. The iron never heated up enough and water spilled all over the clothes I was ironing. Had to use the hair dryer to remove the water. Some previous yelpers said the water pressure in the shower was light. I found it to be perfect. But the hotel provided shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all had a male-centered fragrance. Overall, I'm very disappointed in the stay. I have a pretty long day ahead of me with a lot of driving and I got basically no rest. And my back is stiff.
