Hopefully all of the rooms have been or are being updated because our experience was very pleasant, compared to some of the other pictures and reviews I saw. There was free breakfast daily, which was your typical hotel continental breakfast fare. It's always a nice touch to have free breakfast when you're traveling, so that you can save a little money on meals.

Nothing to write home to gma about. The sausage gravy tasted very watered down & we miss the usual IHG bacon & cinnamon rolls. Coffee was hot & did its job! Monday-Wednesday they offer light dinner/snack too - which we score very low. As the soups tasted watered down & the salad seemed old or previously frozen; soggy & discolored. No crackers for soup was offered-garlic toast was tho!! We recommend eating supper out at one of the favorite Holland area restaurants! Our reservation was for 2nts, yet, has 2 separate reservation numbers. We placed 2 calls to the hotel & let the young lady at front desk know this to insure they knew we wanted the same room each night, didn't require housekeeping & wanted to be sure there was no confusion! All 3 items had a huge fail. As the morning after the 1st night at 830am the GM walked right into our room. Even tho we had our "do not disturb-guests sleeping" sign hanging on our door per check-in reps recommendation. She & I were both shocked to say the least I explained the situation, she apologized repeatedly for not knowing & thinking we had checked out. Which we had done & rechecked right back in (again 2nts 2 different reservation numbers fiasco ) We don't sweat the small stuff!! But, still we giggled This hotel does not have smart TV's - don't plan on streaming anything via Netflix. They do have Direct TV tho! Confirmed reservation cancelled the morning of check-in -- no phone call, no help, no manager…read moreWe reserved this hotel in January 2026 for a July 24-26 stay while our daughter competed in a softball tournament (confirmation #43976875), locking in a good rate six months out (less than $200 per night). The credit card we used to make the reservation expired in April 2026. On the morning of check-in the hotel ran the card on file, found it had expired, and -- instead of picking up the phone -- sent a single email at 8:35 a.m. giving us until noon to call with a new card "so we can honor your reservation." We were already traveling and did not see it in time. Our phone number was on the reservation. Nobody called. We arrived at 4:00 p.m., the posted check-in time. Our name was literally on the lobby welcome board as IHG One Rewards members (Shannon H). Despite that, the front desk told us the reservation had been canceled, the hotel was full, and there was nothing they could do. They did not offer another room. They did not offer to help us find a room anywhere else. They offered no assistance of any kind. The manager we were told was responsible, Eric Waitrovich, was "not available." The only suggestion we got was to call IHG ourselves. We did. IHG escalated the case, agreed the hotel was in the wrong, and told us the hotel was supposed to help us find alternative accommodations and to cover the difference in cost. IHG also told us that this hotel's staff had been rude to their representative and had hung up on her. We ended up booking a lesser hotel elsewhere at nearly double the price. They told us to call the hotel general manager the next day to discuss the issue. For context: rooms at this property were still listed around $600 per night that weekend (Summer in Holland - 3x our reservation). I'll let other travelers draw their own conclusions about why a six-month-old reservation at a lower rate was cancelled over an expired card that a 30-second phone call would have fixed. I called back the next morning to reach Mr. Waitrovich, as IHG had suggested. He was "unavailable" again; staff said they couldn't reach him and didn't know when he'd be in. We even gave the hotel a written chance to make this right before posting this. General Manager Eric Waitrovich responded -- not with an apology or a fix, but by insisting that our expired card made the reservation "not guaranteed," that the hotel "will continue to book reservations until the capacity of the hotel is achieved," and that this is "not alterable under any circumstances." In other words, management confirmed in writing that it treated a six-month-old confirmed booking as forfeit, sold our room to someone else, and stands by it. That, more than anything, is why I'm writing this review. The best part of this is that since the hotel canceled the reservation the morning of our stay, after the "no penalty-cancellation" date, we received a notice that stated that the hotel intended to still charge us for the first night of the stay ("A charge of $198.69 USD will be charged to your card on file.") at a place they refused to allow us to stay at. So the hotel canceled our stay, refused to help, and then intends to keep our money. After we received this notice, I then spoke with IHG again, and IHG indicated that the resolution of this issue is up to the hotel General Manager who made the decision in the first place (Eric Waitrovich). Lastly, I tried to leave a review on their website, but the ability to leave reviews is limited to confirmed guests. Since our reservation was cancelled, they won't allow me to leave a review. If you book here, understand that a "confirmed" reservation may not actually be honored, that management may be nowhere to be found when it isn't, and that they may even seek to take your money when they cancel your reservation. We won't be back.

I was annoyed that when I came in at 11:30 at night I couldn't just use Dyki front desk. Let me into my room. They couldn't even create a physical card at that time. The front desk person, Candace was very helpful. She assisted me and carrying my blinds up, let me in when I went out to my car Was just very pleasant the entire exchange. The following day, my room temperature felt unreasonably warm. I kept attempting to adjust it, but it would return to 78° each time called downstairs and once again it was Candace to the rescue. She came upstairs reset some things and everything was perfect. The room itself was clean and comfortable. It's a decent sized room. Breakfast each day was hot and very well stocked. There are nice places to sit outside. Despite the issues with the facilities themselves, the overall experience was decent because of the helpfulness of their staff.

As a Marriott bonvoy member, I was pleased that I was greeted warmly and offered the welcome gift of a chilled bottled water and my choice of sweet or savory, local-made popcorn! Now, the pitfalls. The AC doesn't cool well. I am hot all night and it runs and clicks on and off but is it really 67? I'm hot. Also, the door does not shut behind you when you enter your room. The lock jams up sometimes and anyone can enter! (See pic). I tried to take a shower and wash my hair- well the conditioner was almost completely empty! I got one squirt out of it. Then I disassembled the apparatus to flip it over and get whatever was left out of it. I left it on the counter, see pic, and the cleaning staff didn't even think to refill it or replace it. What?!??!! They made my bed, sort of, see pic, I could do just as good. They took my hung up towel and the shower floor towel and did not replace it. I thought the hanging towels were for environmental respect- to use again? And where is my shower floor towel? Now the floor is soaked and I don't have a towel to throw down there other than my bath towel. So I called to complain. The lady at the desk said the cleaning staff just throws out the trash, changes towels and makes the bed. No vacuuming, no replenishing, NADA. She said i could request a deep clean. No. I don't need a deep clean. I just need the empty conditioner refilled, and if you don't do that on an interim Cleaning service, then it should've been done before I checked in! It should have been refilled when you did the deep cleaning from the prior guest that stayed in this room. This is all very simple stuff. So I would say the lady at the desk does a nice job checking people in and greeting you and wishing you well when you come and go. The hotel itself is fine. The breakfast crew is doing the Lord's work. But the cleaning crew needs to step up their game . There are plenty of hotels in Grand Rapids. If they improve, I would give them five stars. UPDATE. I stopped by the lobby to get conditioner. The desk attendant apologized and gave me four small travel size bottles. We chatted awhile and I found out their management is focused on cleanliness and many team members are high achievers. I stopped by the gym. This gym is better than any gym I've seen at springhill suites and town place suites. It's spacious and has more equipment. The pool is heated! It had some green lighting underwater. Looked very clean. The whole place lit up when I entered. With the overhead lights off, the green pool lights looked like a dance club. Ha. There's a shower off area and a water fountain. Plenty of towels. Lots of chairs. No loungers. But then again, it's indoor. A window faces the back parking lot. Again, I'm pleased with the hotel. I love that third shift gets the breakfast out early, and the staff members have been so kind.
