This Courtyard by Marriott seems a bit dated but the room we got was decent: clean, functional, and comfortable. It also came with a small refrigerator and microwave. The parking lot is kind of small and not very convenient. We parked in the back and it's kinda far. The stay in this location doesn't include free breakfast as in most other locations. Prices are not that cheap, maybe due to its proximity to Monterey and Carmel.

Lobby and bistro bar area

This Marriott Courtyard is located close to several shops and good restaurants which is very convenient. The parking lot is a bit limited and crowded on weekends. Service here was very good on all fronts. Management was very caring and helpful. Service alone earns another star. The lobby is very nice with plentiful seating. However there is no complimentary breakfast here but they have a bistro bar as an a la carte type counter service. Breakfast sandwiches were a bit pricey and sandwiches were just ok. The bistro bar only opens at 5 pm at night but it needs a more inviting atmosphere like music, lighting and happy hours for guests. The bar was not very popular here. We opted to go to the liquor store down the street. The rooms here are clean and sufficiently appointed with extras like microwaves and refrigerators. The hotel was a 3 star hotel and fine but with great service to make it a 4 star hotel.

The lobby is very small. They don't have enough parking lot. I booked online but when I arrived they said the room was not available. The front desk lady said she would give me the match price if I could cancel my reservation. The room has a strange smell which feels like cigarettes. The bed is very comfortable which is better than the Hilton garden. Hilton Garden has firm beds but this hotel offers soft beds. I like the feather pillows. Parking is an issue. They offer parking tickets. Hilton Garden offers water and coffee in the lobby but here nothing is offered. Probably I will switch to a Hilton credit card next year.

No true nightstand - just small tables.

Just stayed at this location for a sports tournament in the area. The pullout bed is a twin size, and when I opened it to make it up for my daughter, the previous guest's used bedding was still wadded up inside. The cushion on the pullout was ripped on the edges, and the blackout curtain was floor length which would be fine except that it covered up the AC unit. The hotel is under construction so there are messes everywhere, the parking was vastly reduced due to construction waste and equipment being parked there. They noted that they would waive the $12 parking fee due to the construction, and it's hard to believe they ever charge for self parking in an unprotected lot in Salinas. We tried to order food from the cafe when there were few customers and were told it would take 45 minutes. There were no drawers in the room. Overall, it was a miserable stay. All this for the bargain price of $225 per night plus taxes and fees.

Cannot upload a video but if you look carefully...this door stopper design is pretty......amusing

Overall, this hotel is as yelp 3-stars says: "OK". Firstly, they are still doing construction on this property. I stayed here last weekend and there were areas blocked off, the wall was half peeled off, and some areas were pretty dusty. My room key card also kept de-activating for some odd reason, and had to go to the front desk twice to get it fixed. This was a bit of an annoyance but I was only here for a weekend. We did bring 2 dogs with us and this hotel allows pets. $100 does seem a bit steep compared to other hotels for a pet fee. However, they were happy and there were more than enough grass areas for the dogs to do their doodies. Irresponsible people though who leave dog poo laying on the grass... Overall, it was an "OK" stay. Nothing special to say. Just wish there was more amenities offered at this place given the construction to attract more guests. There is no free breakfast and it's $12 parking every night (like....why? There's ample space!). The sound deadening was alright at least and the beds were comfy. I would consider staying here again if I were here for a weekend. However, for longer stays, I would much prefer to look elsewhere. Lastly, I wanted to upload a video I took of this hilarious useless doorstop. However, no video upload so enjoy the screenshot. If anyone can tell me its function, please correct me.

Stayed here before and not much to complain about but tonight on trying to enter the room initially the keys wouldn't work went to reception to replace , no apology just a " that's weird " and a "there you go" Second set of keys first got the green light but door wouldn't open , second key on second set worked thankfully And now for the real surprise walked into room every draw was open the sofa bed was half in half out and it's cushion was against the wall, and the cover for the drain in the shower was pulled out and against the wall Rang happy on reception and it was " wow that's weird " after explaining it looked like someone had searched the room looking for something it was " I'll let housekeeping know " ? She did offer to transfer us into another room but not knowing what to scorch we decided to roll the dice and stay here Should say room was spotless and great value for what it cost but bloody hell not a great start lol

I stayed here for a work trip. Nothing special about the property. There's a common space in the lobby with an outside area and a fitness area. Also, they serve food in a "restaurant" area like right when you walk into the lobby. It reminds me more of a food court. The woman working the front desk when I checked in, Joanne, was very nice and probably one of the highlights of my one night stay. Room is nice, clean, and spacious but not spectacular. I went to look at the in room coffee selection and picked up a condiments package that was open but positioned to look like it was brand new. They have full bottles of shampoo/conditioner/body wash which is nice compared to the tiny bottles most hotels have.

Grout is gone and tiles cracked
Manna O.

I hate to do this, but I gave many chances to fix it and got nothing but lies. I travel a lot for work and prefer Marriott, but I will not use this place in the future after my last visit. The bathroom tile was cracked and loose. I didn't realize this as I walked in and cut the bottom of my foot. I called the front desk to report the issue in and making sure I'm not responsible for it. They were overbooked and I was already unpacked so I stayed in the room. I placed towels on the ground since I was not boy going to be in there for 1 night.

It's a Marriott Courtyard, like it says on the tin. Rooms are a bit dated but otherwise clean. $15 for onsite parking. No free breakfast.

The common areas look finished but it was hard to tell with my room as certain aspects like the bathroom show age. Plenty of up front parking and no parking fee! Luggage carts (although they all have flat tires) and two elevators made it easy to unload my vehicle and get to the room. The bedroom was very large, and the bathroom was roomy. There are not enough lights in the bedroom area and it was difficult to even unpack. The mattress was cheap and awful, hard as a rock. The standard low flow shower head turned a ten minute shower into a 20 minute shower. Housekeeping knocked on my door an hour before checkout but didn't speak any English so I have no idea what she wanted. The counter staff were friendly. Overall this Hampton Inn is average although I would not stay here again due to the uncomfortable mattresses.

But once guests received keys, they can come in and goes by swiping their keys. Free bfast. Love that. Gym and laundry are ok. Laundry coin only. Pool is square so it was a bit challenging to swim for exercise. Location next to fwy, and Starbucks is next door. Lots of construction areas around. Areas surroundings are pretty concerning. I stopped by Vallarta supermarket and love it, i was able to buy food for three days. Room is decent. Its called suite but doesnt have couch. Work space yes, microwave and fridge yes. Coffees in the lobby seemed available 24/7. Monterey is about 30 minutes from here, will try that area next time, or Morro Bay.

I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience needs to be shared…read more I had a prepaid reservation at Best Western Salinas Monterey Hotel for myself and my two young children. We had already driven in from Bakersfield earlier that day to attend a funeral and spent several hours there before going to check in. At the front desk, I was told there would be a $40 additional person fee. I questioned it to better understand the policy, and was told that if I didn't accept it, my reservation would be canceled and I would still be responsible for the full prepaid amount. As the conversation continued, the explanation kept changing. I was told the room could only accommodate two people regardless of age, then that it was corporate policy, and later that it was related to fire safety and California law. The room included a sofa bed and had even been described as an upgrade, which made the situation even more confusing. At that point, I agreed to pay the additional fee just so my children and I could stay and deal with the rest later through corporate. Despite that, the proprietor still refused to honor the reservation. While I was still standing in the lobby with my children and on the phone with customer service trying to resolve the situation, the proprietor canceled my reservation at the front desk. My seven-year-old daughter became very upset and started crying, and there was no empathy or effort to help resolve the situation. We were left without accommodations and had to drive three hours back to Bakersfield that evening, getting home close to 11 PM after an already long and emotional day. The drive included long stretches with limited services, which made it even more difficult traveling with kids. This wasn't just an inconvenience -- it was how it was handled. The situation could have been resolved, especially since I was willing to pay the fee, but instead it escalated unnecessarily. Very disappointing experience.

The front desk explained that they had breakfast available from 7-10am, a pool and vending machines. Parking was easily accessible. Additional parking available as well. The room was tidy. There is a microwave and fridge available. Per my Mom, the bed was a little hard and they didn't clean behind the sink area. Besides that, it was a decent hotel. The staff were exceptionally nice and happy to help. This morning our breakfast table was a little off set and the employee helped us adjust it. Also, we forgot our room key and the housekeeper opened the door for us. In n Out, McDonald's and AmPm are within walking distance.

A big issue was that a few us booked this hotel, or next door at the Courtyard, so that we could all stay together during a golf trip. One of my friends was given a call saying his room had been flooded so they had to cancel his reservation, but made very little effort to find him a new stay and decided to displace him instead. They pretty much told him he had to find a new place to stay at 8pm during a time when all the hotels in the area were booked due to a marathon.

As others have noted, the stairs are a bit steep but we had no issues with it. The downside of the property is that it feels quite impersonal. You check in like you would at an AirBnB rental. There is ostensibly an innkeeper on site but we never met (nor needed) them. There were also some difficulties getting our reservation payment process finalized. Even though we reserved via Booking.com, the property uses their own system and the information did not coordinate well. It took multiple messages back and forth with a remote service center before things got squared away. Knowing what i know now, I would just book direct if the rates aligned. Mistakes can happen, but what was most disappointing was that the receptionist didn't apologize and simply reassigned us to another room. The second room wasn't much better. It was warm because the air conditioner barely cooled the room. The microwave and refrigerator were old, the shower had very low water pressure, and the body wash dispenser was almost empty when we checked in. Overall, the room was in poor condition--not even what I would consider acceptable. The complimentary breakfast was also disappointing. It only included toast, coffee, cereal, Danish pastries, and yogurt as the only protein option, with very limited variety. The front desk staff didn't seem welcoming or happy to assist guests. There also appeared to be too few staff members, resulting in long lines at check-in. Instead of feeling welcomed, it felt like guests were an inconvenience. I wasn't expecting five-star service--I simply wanted to feel comfortable and at home while away from home. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst motel experiences I've had. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend staying here.
