If I could improve something, it would be Yelp's ability to give 0 stars. Will not be coming back - would have left the first night if it wasn't for every other option nearby being sold out of $1,500+ for my group's size. As soon as we stepped in, there was a musty smell, very apparent mold on the curtains, and stains on the carpet. The walls, floors and furniture were dirty and/or stained. Bugs in the light fixtures. AC unit was practically non existent, and old. The matt on the tub floor was dirty and grey, along with the complimentary soap dispensers. Both the hand towels and bath towels were stained (either stained grey or some other fluid that I don't want to know). The continental breakfast was coffee, bread, and premade waffles. The TV turned on but was only white noise with the inability to change channels. Oh, and the "new" rolls of toilet paper that were installed for new guests was basically enough for four wipes - staff was nice enough to fold the first square of each roll though. Price was good compared to other properties for a reason. Close to freeway and quite noisy so bring earplugs. Room had faint smell of long ago tobacco and was just very very tired. Just seemed like the place isn't bringing in enough money for the owner to invest in the building properly. Worn floor mats in the shower, lots of bugs in the ceiling light, no clock, a blinking message light on the ancient phone the desk is apparently unable to clear, stuck shower diverter. As another reviewer noted, no exhaust fan in the bathroom so have to open unscreened window to vent. Lots of patching and wall damage from decades of changes. (Wouldn't cost much to run around with a bucket of touch-up paint, but nobody cares.) The night I was there lots of loud white trash (sorry, but it's true) smoking dope and fighting with each other; a tatted-up, shirtless, ex-con looking type with pants down his butt sucking a joint and trying to get into the pool. I was too scared to try the "continental breakfast" which looked like little more than bagels, but there is an iHop you can walk to. No nightstand clock, USB charging, or easy-access outlets at counter level. Good thing I brought an extension cord to charge my junk. (Wall outlets were not hard to get to, but were old and felt quite loose. They're also not tamper-resistant so not up to current code.) On the plus side: staff was friendly, the bed, while looking pretty lumpy and worn, was actually comfortable and I slept well (though why they insist on putting a stack of 5 pillows on the bed baffles me). Also seemed like they might have changed the bed-area carpet relatively recently since it didn't seem as worn as the rest of the place and only had a couple of minor stains. Plenty of hot water. Microwave and mini-fridge are nice to have and worked well. Never turned on the tee vee. Blackout curtains on the main window worked well -- and believe me, you'll want them. I believe the pictures are self explanatory here. The room was disgusting! The walls needed a good wiping/sanitizing. I honestly didn't want to touch any surfaces in the room. There was no soap, body wash, or conditioner. We had one small bar of soap to share between the two of us. The furniture was heavily stained so we didn't want to sit on anything there. Clean, friendly, quiet, and safe. I had to go to the area for a family emergency and had my wife, niece, and nephew with me. The price was more than reasonable for the area and we got so much needed rest. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I have no complaints. read more

I would not recommend anyone stay in this motel. The room was not clean and the furniture was shabby - stains on the carpet, hotels in the upholstered chair. The shower had been remodeled and had a bracket for soap, etc. The bracket was filthy and had no body soap, shampoo or conditioner. There was 1 very small bar of soap to be used at the sink and in the shower. The motel sits right on the freeway and car noise is very loud. Try a different place. read more

The room gave off a dirty vibe, it was clean but could've been deep cleaned and more presentable. The WiFI did not work for us at all. The shower took over 30 mins to heat up in the morning. Check in was easy, concierge was thorough and kind, pool looked nice. Parking was easy and free. Single King was priced at $141 for one night. Tv was easy to use, bed was made slightly sloppily, kind of looked like the sheets were reused and there were small stains. Room didn't smell amazing. A lot of bugs. Ants by sink, moths in curtains, ear wigs in bathroom light fixtures. All in all front desk staff is good but the room is dirty. First and foremost, the only great thing were the staff, the two ladies at the front AND the handyman were wonderful!! (I'm mad at myself for not getting their names!) They were apologetic, kind, helpful! That being said... we ended up trying 3 different rooms before we decided NOT TO STAY at all and they gave us a full refund!! First room we went to was actually scary before we even walked into the room. The neighboring room had total partiers, smoking, loud music, doors and windows wide open, then we walked in our room: Stunk, filthy, stains everywhere, curtains broke.... I immediately called front desk and asked for different room. Which like I said earlier they were apologetic, kind, helpful.. Second room was a bit better but when my husband walked to the bathroom area he almost slipped (we are older) on a puddle of water. You look up and the ceiling was disgusting and had longtime water damage which was literally dripping as we watched! AGAIN... great staff, and met the handyman for the first time and was super friendly and ordered it closed not to be used. On to our third room... room was bigger, a little brighter... but still dirty, mold in the window and shower, filthy carpet, AND tv broken and the little old fridge was frozen over ‍ Please save yourself the hassle and headache, DO NOT STAY HERE! To the owners..... you are soooooo fortunate to have some very lovely staff working for you and having to deal with I'm sure angry people! They were so good to us despite the challenges this place gives them I'm sure everyday! You need to seriously remodel this place, condemn it, or something. My next step is the Better Business Bureau! we booked this hotel for our vacation. the sheets were nasty when I pulled back the comforter I found out sheets had multiple stains on them. the room had a funky smell I went to open the window only to find it had mold on the ledge and a cracked window with no screen. the floors were dirty. the chair in the room has so many stains on it. the hot tub was broken. we only had one night stand lol. the wallpaper was starting to peel and there were big cracks on the walls and the curtains were ripped. the only good thing I can say about it is that the bed and pull out couch were comfy. the breakfast they provided was pretty decent. read more

First issue, no reception on TV, not a big deal for me but big issue for the kids. I need usable wifi for work communication. Wifi was not usable. It registered the whopping speed of 2kps. Right after dark there was tapping on the window. I looked out to see some shady person in the parking lot. He walked away quicky. An hour later I heard a sound outside my door. ( My vehicle was parked right outside the door. Less than 10 feet away) The same person i saw earlier was hitting my driver window with his fist. I went outside and he just stared me down. I want to say that this place is fine if you're looking to stay somewhere for a quick night. But surely enough, the room, and the front service was just not up to par. The front office seemed very hesitant, and unwilling to provide extra towels, and comforters, while coming off rude. The room we stayed in had plenty of spiders to count, and the clock and lamp was unplugged. Even our bathroom light didn't turn on. Also, the AC unit was defective. I guess a positive thing about this place is that pets are allowed to stay. But that's all I can really say was "good" about my stay here. My husband and I stayed here 2 days during Monterey Car Week in August. The room was the worst I have ever stayed in. The electrical outlets were broken, I mean the covers were cracked and pushed back into the walls. The handles on the furniture were missing with screws sticking out, the bottom of the air conditioner had fallen out and was so loud it woke you up during the night. The swimming pool was so dirty and cloudy you couldn't see the bottom. The Laurel Inn had increased the price to almost $500 for the two nights because of Car Week. Normal prices for 2 night on Friday and Saturday is about $150. Don't get me started on the bathroom. Yuck! The only pro in the stay was the breakfast was good. read more

The hotel did not have to give me any credit at all, but they gave me a full refund. This worst place I've ever stayed at. Keep reading. I had to go on a business trip (Sept 2020) and had to go to Salinas. I found out day before I had to drive over to Salinas so I had to find a hotel in less than 24 hours. I took my boss with me from work. I took a chance with this price for 2 rooms- 1 bed each. I asked for a non- smoking room. I arrived around 11pm and the lobby lights were off. Kinda suspicious. I walked in, took about 10 min before somebody came around the corner. My boss & I walked into my room first, and the second you opened the door, it smelt like an ashtray. Stains on the ground, hair on the ground.. it was gross Then, my boss being shocked, we went to her room and her room smelled like weed. In her room, there were needles in the wall, stains on the ground, ants dead on the wall (looks like they sprayed them to kill them but did not clean it up), graffiti on the door, hole in the door... We weren't happy. We picked up the phone to call the front desk and THE PHONE DIDNT WORK EITHER. We didn't have much of a choice, we had to get up @6am the next morning so we stayed the night. Beds were not too shabby (they were pretty clean). We got up & checked out. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights. We went down the street and we were much happier there. read more

Typically use this hotel for price & convenience. Plus, their breakfast spread is decent. This stay was upsetting because the housekeeper had knocked on the door & I responded that I would answer in a minute. I was naked. She just flung the door open, looking straight at me. Then closes it. There is no door way to where I was standing at that sink. (Rm 237) she got a good view of me fresh out the shower. The staff is rude and the practice is not even close to what other hotels serve my way home was that day that was very rude and I asked for a late check out and told him I would pay for a late check out. I went to the office at almost one to get my deposit letting them know I didn't know that there would be a late check out fee and she told me she's keeping the whole deposit so I paid $100 deposit and I would have only paid $75 to get the room for that night and said I paid $100 for an hour and a half. And she was extremely rude about it. My family stayed one night celabrating my wife's 74 birthday. It was without question the most rundown motel we have ever stayed in. The fireplace did not work. There were 6 drawers that were missing handles. There was a large hole in one of the walls next to the bathroom. The couch was nasty, with some kind of white spots on the cushions and flipping one was a bad idea. There was a large opening between the rug where they had joined two pieces together and old gum stuck on another part. The bathroom had been renewed and was clean but took pictures of a face cloth that I used to wipe down the trim, with what looked to me like mold. The bed was fine and clean. read more

We return here because of the location. However, this stay had problems - extreme noise from upstairs! ZERO sleep. Very bad. Night clerk said he would contact the noisy room but noise did not stop. The second night did not have noise/they left. Also, no coffee in the room - was told coffee would be delivered/never arrived. On the plus side, grab n go breakfast was perfect! Love the tiny cutie, granola and a treat. VERY nice. And, coffee was available in the lobby, so that was good. We will stay here again, but not as happy as previously. I've had occasion to stay at the Laurel Inn on several occasions in the past few months. I've been very happy to get good pricing from hotels.com, so returning here was easy. Aside from the pricing, the thing I like is that the Laurel Inn looks like it has been well-maintained for decades. It is an older motel (the architecture is a dead giveaway), but it doesn't have the feel of an older place. Yeah, the furniture is a bit retro but I'm most interested in safety, value and cleanliness. I get all three of these here. Breakfast is okay. Not by any stretch a grand spread but always nice to have eggs and bacon/sausage as options. The Black Bear Diner, which is on the property, isn't impressive. I had to drive to get decent dinners on the nights that I stayed at the Laurel Inn. If you're looking for a good value in a clean, safe place, just off the 101, I recommend the Laurel Inn. read more

We had to drive all the way to Morgan Hill!! The General Manager didn't even apologize when we told him why we were leaving! We will never stay at this inn again!! This is the second time we've stayed here and this is our assessment: Pros: cost effective, conveniently located, ample parking, breakfast included Cons: on both stays, the rooms were not ready by 4:30 (they argued that check-in is after 3 pm so there's no obligation for it to be ready by 4:30)- that makes absolutely no sense. We had a group of 8 people, 4 of which are small children, waiting in the parking lot for 45 minutes. We had been on the road for 6 hours and everyone was exhausted. The quality of the continental breakfast is below average. The bacon and eggs don't taste "real" and the little dining area is very small. The cleanliness of the room is questionable. The bathtub was disgusting and had black marks all over it (like dirty feet had stepped all over it) Next time, we won't be staying here again. We gave them the benefit of the doubt after our first bad experience but it appears that this is common practice (rooms not being ready). We'll be taking our business to Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn. read more
