Updating review as the cleanliness and overall maintenance of this hotel has consistently and continuously declined to the point that even as a Marriot member loyalist I will not stay here. Mildew smell fills the halls, shower drainage is terrible, grime and stains in showers and on shower curtains. Facilities not working such as A/C in gym, ac issues in room as well, torn screens so even if you want to open the windows to get air you risk bugs flying in. read more

For starters, the lady did not know how to check me in through my reservation for my job by herself. She paid more attention to her cell phone, and she did customers coming in to check in. She checked in Ppl as working with us, which was crazy to me you're not even understanding what we got going on how dare you take another person but I get to my room after all the frustration of trying to check in the refrigerator is not working I explained to her that unplugged. It press the button nothing's working instead of just changing my room I haven't even unpacked my bags. It would take not even 10 minutes to switch me to another room. She insists on getting the maintenance guy to get me a new fridge from an empty room so she could've just switched me to the one that's empty. After driving two hours to get here, I've never had this much trouble checking into any hotel whether it was through my job or I booked it myself. This was a complete disaster a huge inconvenience. I'm already tired and aggravated and then the fridge isn't working and I have food that needs to be refrigerated as they're already driving with it for two hours and then she's gonna make me wait 30 minutes for a fridge and then as I'm walking out to come to my car as I'm waiting for the fridge she's laughing and giggling on her phone at the service desk read more

I'd like to start out by saying that I get subpar service often at hotels and restaurants, and I rarely feel the need to leave a review, reduce a tip, or complain to the manager, because sometimes bad luck happens. But in this case, it was egregious enough of a poor experience that I have to share. I had to book a hotel same-day for a business trip, and due to having to leave late because of some family obligations and back problems I was having on the car ride up, I was simply unable to make it all the way to Salisbury, safely. I knew I was taking a risk by booking at another town, since there would be a cancellation fee hanging over my head. Now those of us who spend half our lives on the highway know these cancellation risks, and sometimes you just have to eat it. But there were some extenuating circumstances about the inability of this hotel to show a modicum of flexibility and customer service that prove that this place is run by stubborn, money-hungry, don't-appreciate-your-customers, inflexible management that cares more about winning short-term "spitting" contests than actually trying to appeal to the public through reasonable customer service efforts. (1) I made this reservation same-day (around 4 pm), and they were well below full occupancy (gee, I wonder why?) based on the price. Therefore, it wasn't like they had to deny anybody a room or even commit extra housekeeping to my room. (2) I told them, I was staying in Salisbury for 3 (now maybe 4) nights in a few weeks, and I'd be glad to choose them for my stay if they would apply a credit (notice I say not a refund) for a future stay. They adamantly rejected that. That told me they were more worried about standing their ground and screwing over their guest (again at zero cost to them) than retaining a happy customer that would actually bring them more profit! (3) I know this shouldn't matter too much, but I told them that the way my company does reimbursements, I'd have to eat the $150 fee personally, and given that this brand supposedly caters to business clients, I was surprised they had zero sympathy for taking money out of my pocket to make a petty stand. I have five kids. I bust my tail to put food on the table, and these people seemed to derive some real pleasure taking from me in this circumstance. (4) The manager told me there was nothing they could do to reimburse me, but the folks at Marriott Corporate advised that they absolutely could have removed the fee if they wanted to. Again, I cost these bozos absolutely nothing and gave them a golden opportunity to earn a repeat customer, but they wanted instead to win their $150 out of my pocket, just for trying to drive safely so I could make it back to my family. Did these people have to give in to my requests? No, they didn't. They absolutely had the right to take my money, and they had an option not to. They chose to take it, to be petty, which shows you how they think of their customers: "Only provide to your customers what you are required to provide them." I can't wait to find another hotel in the area for my upcoming trip, and I'm going to make sure that it's owned by a totally different franchisee before I book. read more

We stayed here and I must say I enjoyed our stay. I liked the room, the staff was very friendly. The hotel was clean with the exception of the shower curtain liner being old and needing to be replaced. My biggest complaint was that the whirlpool was closed and I love the whirlpool!!! Additionally, I absolutely hate that hotels no longer clean the rooms every day of out stay. But I know that is beyond their control with the pandemic. Overall I would stay here again. read more

Staff was very friendly and room looked really nice. There was a lot of space as well. The bed sheets were very wrinkled though as if they hadn't been changed, but other than than everything was fine. Overall the hotel seemed in good fairly new condition but the walls were really thin and I could hear everything. COVID safety - There is a note at the front desk noting the hotel cleaning staff doesn't / won't clean your room if you're staying more than a day. There is NO breakfast! Not even teas, coffees, or to go snacks that other Marriotts offer during COVID. The website does not note this. They do offer coffee in your room though, but it's just not the same. The GYM is open, but you do have to go to the front desk between 7am-10pm and have them open the door. The gym does have wipes and limited equipment with distancing. Location, it is right off of the main road, near many restaurants, gas stations, and shopping centers. It's about 20-40 minutes to the beach and about 15 minutes to the local university. read more

Awful Experience. If I could give it 0 stars I would. We arrived on our first night and we were checked in to a room which smelled so foul we had to instantly leave. We could not stand the horrible stench for another minute, so we asked to move, and they grudgingly obliged. We checked into our new room, and although the Smell was less than pleasant, we made it work. We also asked for new towels and pillows which were never given to us. Even though we asked every day, our room was only cleaned once over our four-night stay. If you are in Salisbury, DO NOT stay here. Much better options at the microtel, or anywhere else. read more

Clean, affordable, quiet, good location. I am surprised that they do not have a bar or food other than breakfast. The hotel staff at check was less than friendly. I admit that I'm tough on hotels...because of Wifey's job I've stayed at some amazing places on the corporate dime. When I have to pay for a hotel on my own I have high expectations so three stars really does mean it's totally acceptable. Check in was quick and easy, the room was perfectly fine, and from what I saw the place was very clean. AC worked great and the shower had good pressure. Priced a little high I think because of multiple events going on in the area. I did NOT like the fact that the only breakfast and coffee options was the Starbucks in the lobby. Yes I could have made coffee in my room, but I'm so used to free coffee that I was kind of annoyed. Plus I don't like Starbucks food items. Luckily there are about 20 places to eat breakfast in the area so we survived. I'd come here again if the price was right, but there are cheaper options in the area that were just booked to capacity this trip read more

Yikes. I expected more from Marriott. The hotel experience was underwhelming. Our room smelled stale and the linens were humid/ tacky feeling. There wasn't a working fan in the bathroom. When I saw the dust piles up in the vent I was glad it wasn't functional. The pool was small and freezing cold. The shed of pool towels was sparsely supplied and the hot tub had murky water and caution tape around it. Overall we enjoyed our stay. All the staff we encountered were genuinely welcoming as they acknowledged us each time we left or came back. The hotel smelled cleaned as well as our room, the shower had good water pressure, and check in/out was a breeze. It seems from some older reviews that there was a bed bug issue but we checked our beds and found nothing. The beds were comfy but I did feel like my side of the bed was lacking some support since I was sinking a bit. There were also some stains here and there through the hotel (our room, bathroom, elevators, floors). My only other gripe was the pool water was too cold for my family and I to enjoy. The hotel was conveniently located near plenty of food places as well as target, walmart, and Kohl's so we would return given the chance. read more

We've stayed at many Marriott chain hotel so my rating is based upon the services, furniture updates, cleanliness, and location. As we arrived, we were greeted by a very nice staff at the front desk. We were soon given the keys to our room on the second floor. The room was decent size...two queen beds, tv, desk, chair, and single seat, mini-fridge. Unfortunately, the microwave is downstairs in the sundry by the receptionist area. In any case, the room looked clean and we unpacked and decided to hit the pool. The corridor walkway and elevator was dirty and looks like someone spilled some grease oil. The pool is much smaller than I thought and sadly the whirlpool spa is closed and under repair :( My kids still had fun in the water even though it felt too cold for me so I passed. In the evening, I went to their little gym. It was two treadmills, a broken elliptical, a bike, a rack of all free weights. It's a small area but it will do as long as there's no more than 3 people in that room, I'm fine. Dinner was great. No, not that we ate at the hotel restaurant! The location of the hotel is so close to all shopping stores and restaurants. We can literally walk over to our destinations! Overall, all Courtyard Hotel doesn't serve complimentary breakfast and we knew this when booking here but because the location is close to our day's trip, it was worth staying. If it wasn't for the convenience on distance drive, I wouldn't bother staying here when there's many other hotels. read more

My Girlfriend and I were VERY disappointed from our experience this weekend - New Year's Eve 2016. Despite a great rate, this property desperately needs to be upgrading. Our room was not too clean. Nonetheless, the staff was polite, kind and helpful. Most upsetting was the indoor poor and the hot tub which was in poor working order along with its temperature control system not working. To be honest and clear, the water was freezing cold. Again - Staff was very nice! But - this place needs a lot more work. Beds in our suite were somewhat comfortable. The bed was about the only thing worth praising. I got locked out of my room due to a problem with the lock. My wife asked the housekeeper on our floor to check if the housekeeping key worked while I went to the front desk. The maid informed her that it was the lock, not the key and I told the receptionist that, and she refused to send a maintenance guy to fix it unless I went back upstairs, checked the key AGAIN and called her from a phone upstairs. A little bit of common sense and customer service would have gone a long way here, but instead, my time was wasted. This horrid place doesn't deserve any stars. My family and I took our 10 year annual family vacation to Ocean City and stayed at this hotel as usual. The management is new and they don't care at all about their guests. We never expected these issues. Here is a thorough list of the issues we experienced. -BED BUGS -Filthy mattresses -Filthy sheets on bed (even the "new" ones we brought up from the lobby had stains.) -The refrigerator did not work -Filthy bathrooms (with mold on ceiling) -VERY RUDE STAFF (some of the housekeepers were pleasant) -Filthy floors (even the lobby was dirty) I could definitely list more things wrong with this place. My family and I will never stay at this hotel again. We would rather pay more and stay somewhere sanitary. read more

Absolutely the worst experience from any hotel I've ever booked with. This entire experience has turned me off and I never want to stay at a Marriott property ever again. They overbooked and told us they were so sorry after driving 3 hours they couldn't accommodate us, even though we had already booked online through the Marriott website. I spent over an hour mostly on hold speaking with people who were trying to have me drive another 45 minutes back the way I just drove to get here and wouldn't get me into any other hotel closer because the only place they had space was at the beach and that was more than I paid... well thanks for all your sorrys! They helped greatly and I believe that Marriott cares nothing about people who stay at their hotels. Thanks for making me drive three hours to tell me your own site overbooked and there is nothing you can do for us. I have two young children who after spending 3 hours in the car was enough. I will never give you a penny more. Absolutely disappointed with your customer service that can only provide sorrys to accommodate a mess up on your side. Maybe invest in better technology. Thanks for nothing. I'd recommend before booking here, DON'T but if you insist then call to make sure the hotel actually has you in their system because their system is broken. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Courtyard Marriott. The staff was courteous, very helpful,friendly and polite. The lobby breakfast at the Bistro was excellent. The food services venue run by Curtis Hinds was outstanding. Under his guidance most of the customers enjoyed the great service. My 5 year old granddaughter especially enjoyed the swimming pool and the breakfast. We will be sure to put this on our places to stay. read more

I'm a big fan of marriott hotels along with Hyatt and the W chain. I ended up booking this one for my brothers graduation from Salisbury since everything appeared to be booked up months ahead and I didn't want to get stuck in a crack motel. I did book this several months ahead, mind you. I don't believe it's normally this crowded in town-it was the event. This was a decent room with a king bed and a sofa bed. It could comfortably sleep 3, possibly 4 if you want to share the sofa bed. The shower was cool with a little "bench" which was neat. The room had a mini fridge which is always appreciated and a coffee maker but the coffee was awful. I drink my coffee black so it needs to be decent enough not to drown out with cream or sugar. Our room was clean and on the first floor. I'm always nervous being lodged on the first floor since I'm afraid someone will bust open my window, but they were fully booked. At least the doors are on the inside (not motel style). That's muchhhhh better. If I were in the Salisbury area again, I might stay here. It's relatively far from the school-I'm not familiar with the area but it was 10-15 minutes. I would look for something closer if I could but for a night, it was a good stay. read more

We reported the bed bugs and the front desk employee moved us next door to the same room and kept it in service. We asked to be relocated and the GM AJ who was very combative told us he couldn't do anything for us until he had dogs come through to look for the bed bugs, which never happened and as a result we had to sleep in the car with my 6 month old daughter for two days and never received a room or any type of compensation for our troubles. My mother and father in law were both bitten and we took photos and video as evidence. Even when we provided said evidence to AJ the GM he still sent us packing to live out of our car for the duration of our vacation. AJ treated us like we brought the bugs ourselves. And as a result we will never give this location our business again. Brown stains everywhere by the way. Check your beds. read more

This hotel gives the marriott brand a BAD NAME. The assistant general manager has to go. Jennifer weaver . She has TERRIBLE interpersonal skills. Never has a smile on her face. If shes the GM, what is she teaching the rest of the team? I hope I never see her again if I ever come back here. She is horrific!! Terrible, is an understatement . The customer service is a different story. You better be ready to clean your own room because house keeping is a total joke. Just put up your "do not disturb" sign and dont waste your time. I stayed here for a conference at SU, which is only a short distance away. The hotel staff was friendly and the room was comfortable. It was clean and spacious with the usual amenities: coffee, hair dryer, tv with all the fancy stations and large comfy pillows. My favorite features of this hotel: the mattress and the awesome bench built into the shower. Seems like an odd feature, but it's mighty convenient when you want to sit and let hot water run over you. read more

If I could give this Hotel 0 stars I would. Last night, my family was bitten by bed bugs!!! We have pictures and video to prove it!! The night manager provided some bug spray and moved my family to the room next door! (Like bed bugs don't travel). This is ridiculous because we have stayed at this Courtyard Marriott Salisbury, MD for years and never had any problems. The other problems include: air conditioning not working properly (blowing warm air), black mold in bathrooms on walls and ceilings, cracked shower tiles, hair in sinks and on mattresses, dirty carpet, dirty elevators, dingy linen, condom box under mattress, pool area closed (they lied and said it was working when we called and when we arrived, they said it wasn't working) and the list goes on and on. The lobby is leaking and they have a trash can collecting the dirty water dripping from the ceiling! This is pathetic!! They have sub par accommodations but high prices as if you're receiving high quality. If you don't want bed bugs, skin problems, or breathing problems, don't stay here!! We will NOT ever stay here again. Lesson learned. read more

Hotel was disgusting. Stains all over the carpets. We tried to use the pool and ended up with slimy residue all over. The next afternoon our dirty towels were still all over the pool chairs. Hot tub was roped off with caution tap with dirty stagnant water sitting in it. Breakfast staff were lazy and borderline rude. Back door key didn't work and constantly multiple employees smoking in the "patio area".no one has done cleaning or gardening in months. Went for a girlfriends getaway weekend to Ocean City. This hotel was really clean and well-kept. The rooms were much more spacious than other Courtyards I've been to. The staff here was attentive and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel is located right in a strip mall with lots of restaurants and shops surrounding it, so you won't have to worry about going far for food or any knick-knacks you may need. I would go back if ever in the area. read more

The hotel is fine. Staff very helpful and always polite. The lobby eatery for breakfast is slow. Staff is new and have not worked through basic operations for expedient meals. But they were also very apologetic and very polite. The food is average. I don't recommend including meals in the hotel room price. There are other food places near by. read more

One day I came here and nothing was done in the room. I've gotten used to seeing some things slip here but this day, nothing, was done. They have great staff at the front desk and the restaurant that's open for breakfast. Most of the staff that clean the rooms do an awesome job. They quit servicing coffee in the lobby now so I guess they're looking to find ways to cut back costs. Sad. This is a pretty nice hotel for the area. It has everything I need. The rooms are well appointed, with good work desks. Everything is nice and clean. They have interior corridors. There is an exercise room with a couple of treadmills. Breakfast isn't at cheap or fast but it is tasty enough. The Wi-Fi in the rooms had a very strong signal, which is important to me. Staff was friendly. Computer and printer in the lobby worked well and were free to use. I'd stay again. read more

Kammy Oneail I stayed at this hotel during the USSSA tournament earlier this month. I filed a very detailed complaint to Marriott and have yet to have a response from the hotel. This place is absolutely horrible. The mold is out of control. The ceilings are crumbling in. The patio is never cleaned so it's overrun with flies and ants. The hot tub was lined off with caution tape like a crime scene. The price we were charged, $240.80 a night, to stay in this hotel was ridiculous for the service we received or lack thereof. The AC did not work in the lobby and hallways and struggled to keep up in my room. My room was only cleaned once during our 4 night stay, and not by request we wanted it cleaned everyday. We were not given towels unless we went down to the lobby to request them and at such time were only given 2 because "they didn't have enough". We asked for pillows and they said they didn't have any. Our room keys were constantly deactivating themselves. The manager, Anthony, was NEVER available to discuss issues. I could go on and on. Never again will I stay in this hotel and at this point it will take a lot for me to go back to a Marriott! read more

WORST HOTEL STAY EVER. The hotel carpets were filthy throughout the location. The rooms need to be updated and touched up (bathroom shower chipping, refrigerator not working properly, the room smelled like they mopped with a dirty mop, no ONE has dusted in my room in years). Pool and jacuzzi were cloudy. The description of the room said they had a refrigerator in the room but when I complained that the refrigerator was not staying cool, I was told by the one at the front desk that it's not a refrigerator, it's just a cooler. Then I was told by maintenance that it's not a refrigerator so it won't freeze things. I never wanted it to freeze anything, I simply wanted to keep a few items cold so my diabetic mother could eat if and when necessary. When I first got to the floor, my room was on, (Rm 315), I could find it because the room did not have a number on it just a handicap sign. So I eventually tried the room with the handicap sign on it and found that I was given a room that should be reserved for people with disabilities. I was then told that it didn't matter because it's just handicap accessible but what if a disabled person needed the room? Just like handicap parking, I shouldn't park there unless I am disabled. The room was moist. This was the worst stay ever. I am very disappointed. I was offered a 10% discount and when I asked to see where my discount was notated on my bill, the "General Manager" who was very rude, disrespectful and very unprofessional tried to threaten to take the 10% discount away because I asked to see it notated on my receipt. Up until that point all the other staff members were very kind, helpful and professional. I am glad that no one learned how to be rude like their so called leader. I asked for a contact person for corporate and the "general manager" refused to give me any information but like I told him, it's 2018, google will be my guide. With all going wrong with my hotel stay, my elderly mother was sick so I really did not need my hotel room to be such an issue.
