Really nice Courtyard! I believe the hotel is fairly new. The lobby and rooms are spacious with modern and functional furniture. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful. I had left laundry in the dryer when we went to dinner and the front desk person took it out for us so nobody else would handle it. The only downside of this hotel is that breakfast is not a complimentary buffet. Like other Courtyards, there is a cafe. I don't mind paying for breakfast, but it was very busy and time consuming. You would be better off going to a local breakfast spot or if you don't have time, there is a Dunkin across the street. read more

I really like this place. I think the placement of the hotel could be better. It's smack dab in the middle of apartments, high end retail space, and a casino. Some people like that...I think it's too busy. The hospitality crew was great, accommodations were on point, gym was nice and clean, pool was small and always open. This is my second visit here, and my stay was as pleasant as my first visit. The front desk associates were extremely friendly and accommodating. I asked for a room with a view, and she searched and searched to accommodate me. My brand. Ew room was modern and immaculate. I asked for late check out, no problem. I was asked if everything was to our satisfaction on my way out. This will be my first choice for the next four years each time we come and visit and watch my daughter play at Union College. read more

Stayed one night here recently and enjoyed my stay thoroughly. This is a new hotel and has all the modern features. Really like the prox card for the room key. Definitely felt like there was an extra layer of security. Had to know off one star since there wasn't a complimentary breakfast. That in-itself wasn't a huge problem, but the prices of the bistro were a bit high. Overall, I'd stay here again without a hesitation. read more

Three year old hotel in decent shape. The room was comfortable and the location is good. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I would like to see this brand cut back on single use plastics, use more compostable containers, and continue to cut back on waste. This hotel had some downsides. The dirty gym was the start. The weights only go up to 50lbs, no pull-up bar, no spin bike, and the weight benches had sticky substances on them like a sugary drink or something was spilled on them. The unannounced fire alarm test was the next misstep. An employee mentioned in passing to a few guests in the lobby that a fire alarm test would happen that day. It ended up happening 40 minutes late during mid-day. Hopefully no one had kids taking naps or were resting for a night shift. Normally these tests are announced with a note under the door the day before and reiterated by the front desk staff. The elevators stopped working for some maintenance later that day, again with no warning. Finally on checkout, the charges were incorrect and had to be adjusted. Addressing the management issues would move this up to a 3.5 star hotel. read more

Stayed here a couple nights for a work event taking place at Union College. Always starting with the good...the place is brand new and beautiful. Very modern rooms, a great size, comfortable bed and clean. I also appreciated the TV that allows you to stream apps like Hulu and Netflix right off their system as long as you login. The lobby was nice with an onsite bistro with Starbucks products and breakfast in the morning and dinner with a bar at night. I thought the food was good although slightly pricey but on par with the convenience of not leaving the hotel. There is a beautiful patio outside with furniture and a fire pit to relax by. So why 3 stars?...the Noise! Maybe I'm too much of a country mouse but this hotel is literally sandwiched between train tracks and an airport. I was woken up both nights by trains running and blowing their horn between 2-5 each morning. While sitting on the patio we had ascending planes flying overhead every 25 minutes and I mean LOW flying planes. Inside the hotel I could hear all the plumbing running above me and for some reason they had tile sections in the hallway (I was on the 1st floor) which means I was privy to rolling bags on tile in the morning. If you're a deep sleeper or used to alot of city noise you may be fine but this is where I lost all my stars. read more

The property next door is somewhat empty right now but I have a feeling this will be a very fun place once it's filled. Everything is clean and new . Lots of places to eat within 10 minutes driving distance but I found everything closes a little early . read more

This was my first stay at this hotel. I will confess that when I am in town, I normally stay at the rival chain's property across the bridge, but it was booked solid last night (Union College's last day before break was today), so I decided to stay here instead. Marriott properties can always be relied upon to be clean and comfortable, and this is a pretty new hotel, so my expectations were high. Also this was my first time in a Courtyard. I had just finished a stay at a Springhill Suites in another city, so I also was interested in how the two, at pretty much the same price point, would compare. As expected, the Courtyard is clean and comfortable, decorated in trendy, tasteful neutrals. Both have digital keys available through the Marriott app, but they are finicky, and need to be *very* close to the lock to work, and sometimes they refuse even then. I personally love the digital key, but when you have more than one party in your room (or they fail as the one at Springhill did), you still need the traditional key card. Also, their main rival's digital key is better. It works through the hotel wifi, not bluetooth, so it works from a distance and is less likely to fail. Both require the app, though, which your traveling companion might not have. Compared to the Springhill, my room was fairly compact, but with some nice touches not found in the Springhill. Outlets with USB ports are available on *both* sides of the bed, not just the left (when facing the bed) side. The bed was very comfortable - much more so than the bed in the Springhill I'd just stayed in. The pillows are a mix of feather/down and fiberfill. The feathers squish a lot, the fiberfill not as much, so you may have to do some combination of punching or fluffing to find your ideal. The large loveseat sofa is comfy, though not at the most comfortable viewing angle for the TV. The Aeron-style desk chair, moved across the room, might be a better bet. The shower stall had an interesting layout, with a very convenient foot-shelf for leg shaving, but not the larger "rain" shower head. It's step-out (no door), with a cubby shelf at the end of the shower so that the towels are right at hand. Extra points for the magnifying mirror on the vanity! The Springhill also has a stall shower, with a door and rain shower head, but smaller and without that important foot-shelf amenity for female guests. There's also a mini-fridge, microwave, and tiny coffeemaker in the suite. Also, the teeniest ice bucket I have ever seen. It's the same height as a regular ice bucket, but half the usual diameter. So, not only does it hold half as much, since there are no spoons or scoops in the suite, once the ice is below the rim a couple of inches, it's extremely difficult to get it out (it's too narrow to use your glass as a scoop). This may seem like a quibble, but I use the ice machine constantly when I stay in hotels (the air tends to be desert dry, and hydration is essential). C'mon, Marriott! It may be cute, but it's not terribly functional. You can spring for the full sized bucket. Also not functional was the toilet roll holder. Attempting to pull the end forward spun the whole roll onto the floor. This happened several times, so in the end, I just simply set the roll on top of it. My last negative isn't a small thing, however, and that is the lack of an included breakfast, which is rather odd at this price point. As I said, this was my first stay at a Courtyard, so this may be something regulars to the brand would be expecting. But I can't think of a single other hotel in this niche, including other Marriott brands, which doesn't offer at least a complimentary continental breakfast. A cup of tea and a bagel to take me out the door on this cold morning was something I was looking forward to, and so I was pretty disappointed to discover that I was going to have to take time out of my travel to find breakfast on the road, since I had already loaded my purse into the car and didn't have my wallet, as I wasn't expecting to need it to eat. I otherwise enjoyed my stay. The front desk staff was kind and courteous, and the room was extremely nice, except for the few minor issues noted. I would definitely stay here again, but probably as a second choice. The rival property across the bridge serves a full, hot breakfast. read more

everything was pretty decent. The pool was good. Should have been deeper cuz it's only 4 feet deep. The fitness room has a few treadmills and some dumb bells... The air conditioner was good in the room. the bed was comfy... OK! here's the only gripe! It is a problem though. every channel on TV would just freeze and then no picture and comes back in again. I'm not sure if they are using internet TV or what or satellite but you can't watch any TV. Game of Thrones was on and I can't even watch it!! It just keep freezing! This is a very well appointed hotel, with a business center, whose claim to fame is its closeness to a River Casino. The beds are super comfortable and its people super helpful. They have a 'bistro' open for breakfast at 7 am, and open again in the evening for snacks and drinks. They have a 'marketplace,' which includes refrigerated drinks and sandwiches. So, some food and drinks are available 24/7. There's a lot of construction immediately adjacent to the hotel, building what looks like will be condos, apartments and shops. I have one issue with the hotel: no concierge level. So if you want a cup of coffee at 6 am, say, you're out of luck. I suppose it's that way because it's 'Courtyard' Marriott, but the prices are full Marriott. This hotel prices are much more than you would expect for a Courtyard Marriott even though you really are in the middle of nowhere (unless the casino is all to you). read more

Found this hotel while looking for something close to the Rivers casino. We had never been to the area before. Hotel was excellent. Clean, modern rooms. Comfortable couch & bed. Room had mini fridge, microwave & coffee maker. Toiletries were Paul Mitchell. We didn't use pool but it looked nice. They had an optional breakfast, for the price of the room it would have been nice if it was included. Location was excellent, in a new up & coming community area with access to the river, boat docking, restaurants & apartments. Shops coming soon. Walk to the casino was not bad but they also had a free shuttle out front which will take you to the casino or downtown. If we come to this casino again we will stay here. read more

New hotel opened November 2016 on the river by the new casino. Stayed one night in December about a month after opening. Very friendly staff, new hotel so everything is clean. Super convenient to downtown Albany and many local destinations before the Casino opens in February. A nice addition to the area! read more

Gave us a restaurant suggestion a few miles away and it was not disappointing. He was spot on with his recommendation. Hotel is super clean. Wish there was free coffee available after hours. Courtyards are nice. This is no exception. Even better because it is brand new. The room was beautiful. We had a nice view of the Mohawk River. The facilities were immaculate. I frequently travel to Schenectady for business and as a loyal Marriott customer, I was excited to hear about the new Marriott! I have stayed there a number of times now and from the minute I walk in, I feel at home. Everyone from reception to housekeeping is extremely friendly and courteous! I enjoyed breakfast at the Bistro, the girls were very accommodating and the General Manager even stopped by to say hello and ask me about my stay. My last trip, I took the FREE trolley downtown for a dinner meeting. All in all a great experience!! read more

At this time there is construction all around so not as appealing as it will be. I thought I would be able to walk to the train station but I was not totally correct. I made it there but it was a walk to remember for sure! The hotel itself is nice. The rooms and beds are wonderful. I went for my college reunion and opted for the new hotel in town because all the other ones were sold out. I had to take a cab at night which was not too expensive but I much prefer walking. During the day the college had a shuttle bus that came around but again I prefer being more local and traveling by foot. They are very local to the new casino! So if you are a gambler, you are good to go! If you are going for a Union College weekend, you are better off at the Hilton Doubletree, Stockade Inn or even the Hampton Inn if you want to walk to campus.... Just saw another review below. I paid over $300 for this room which is ridiculous we all know, but it was reunion weekend so all the hotels were expensive. There are Mohawk River views? What!!! I wish I had that instead of my parking lot view! (...well I have to admit I asked for a quiet room to be away from the construction so facing the lot was apparently that!...too bad I didn't know.) read more
