3/4 times at this location, stayed at many Hilton, Hampton, Courtyards, and Marriott's. Food/Drink: walked in and was greeted. Breakfast in the am 6-10 wasn't bad. Eggs, bacon, cereal, juice the usual. Gym: Nice size, bunch of equipment, and amazingly nothing was broken!? Pool/Spa: whirlpool was down, and the swimming pool was a little small. Dinning Area: Large area, and plenty of seating. Prices: A little on the expensive side, really much more than expected and for a standard King room $121 a night is steep. Parking: Plenty of space, side and back private lots. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean and decent in size. Atmosphere: During the winter, pretty slow. I did not wait long at the desk, Christmas tree and menorah up in the lobby. Nice electric fireplace gave it elegance. This was disappointing. We paid close to $400 per night for a two night stay. The hotel is older and could use updates for sure. We were given and accessible room. I wish they would have asked us if we wanted one. We would have declined. The bathroom flooded every time we took a shower and most of the furniture in the room was removed for accessible purposes. This left no where to sit but on the bed or floor and no where to store our things. We also asked for the room to be cleaned during our stay. They front desk said they would. We came to back to find the room uncleaned, we really hoped to get the garbage emptied but they just put two towels in the bathroom and left. Would not return here. read more

Room was not as picture described. Paid for a King room pictures showed working desk and chair. My room had a wobbly round desk and a fabric covered chair. I am a working photographer with a deadline for pictures so I called the front desk and was told by whoever answered she was new and they were booked so she couldn't offer help or a room switch. The internet wouldn't connect (got an IP address but never got a login page popup in my browser) either via the Wifi and again she had no answers for me other than come down to the lobby. I spent 90 minutes debugging the problem with chatGPT and ultimately got the phone number from there to call Hilton tech support and they whitelisted my IP address meaning they put no restrictions on it to login etc it just started working. There were only enough linens for one person and there was no bath mat in the bathroom. The power plugs by the bed didn't work, and I have a CPAP machine so I had to pull the bed away from the wall and unplug the wall lights to plug it in there. I plugged my iphone into the USB-C plug by the bed and in the morning my phone was dead so that didn't work either. I parked in a handicap spot (I have a placard) and between me on the end and the next car was an access aisle which is hatched with diagonal lines. Some over privileged yahoo decided to wedge his car in between illegally on top of the access aisle. I ultimately had to call the town police to get them come down to the hotel to make the patron move their car because it was so close to my door I couldn't open it. I called the front desk before checking out and again no manager was available. I called again an hour later and still no manager. I wrote an email to the address on my invoice and it took 48 hours to get a response that they were offering me 10000 honors points for my trouble. I found that unacceptable and called and spoke to Ms. Carrie Friello who was rude to me said that's all they were offering back was the points said have a nice day and then hung up on me. I was illegally evicted in January, so I was hotel hopping. I paid IN FULL for four nights at the Hampton through Expedia, and I am asking ALL TO BOYCOTT THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Let me tell you why. Shortly into my arrival, the hotel DEMANDED that I fork over my credit card, with an open line of credit, for the hotel to charge as it saw fit for ïncidentals," which they declined to define. I refused. And then the manager - possibly the most wicked woman on the planet, began to furiously knock on my door, while I was sound asleep, demanding my card or she would call the police. I told her I would gladly depart with a refund. She refused to refund me the three unused nights I pre-paid, AND THEN CALLED THE POLICE. I had to rush to my room, the key to which she had deactivated- locking me out and my dog in- and rush to gather my life's belongings. And I accidentally knocked one of their shi@ty paintings off the wall because the space between the bed and the wall was barely a foot wide, and the frame broke. I was tossed out into the cold, and Expedia refused to refund me because they could not find my reservation number. SEVEN MONTHS LATER, I WAS CHARGED WITH AN E FELONY FOR "DAMAGING 3K OF ARTWORK," AND MY CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. I WAS THROWN IN JAIL AND DRAGGED BEFORE A JUDGE IN SHACKLES. The staff is rude. This is a Hilton property that caters to animals and not people. When we checked in the rooms they smelled like wet dogs. we tried three rooms and they all we dirty and smelly, We were able, not by the help of the front desk, to get a room in nearby Glen Falls which was great. Hotel Location perfect for the events that we went to that town for !!! Nice breakfast and breakfast area. Swimming pool and hot tub was nice. The hot tub didn't run to full capacity but it was running none the less. Our Air Conditioning stayed at the same temperature from the time we checked in till the time we left. It was hot like 75 the whole time and the maintenance person came in and said to wait 30 minutes and it should be fixed but it didn't change and it was late at night and we just went to bed!! We booked far in advance for a reUnion weekend, got a great group rate, a large clean and modern room and a friendly hotel staff. The location was very convenient to the college, easy to find on the GPS, and had plenty of parking in it's private lot. The hotel goes beyond the usual Hampton perks besides the standard breakfast and wi-fi. There was a cheese and cracker tray and fruit set out in the lobby in the evening to compliment the Hampton cookies. The pool and exercise facilities looked clean and inviting although we didn't use them. Everything worked well in the rooms, obviously well-maintained. We had a corner room facing State Street, so we did hear street noise at times, but nothing excessive for a central downtown hotel. A bistro is just steps away, other pubs nearby, and a CVS conveniently located across the street. Schenectady is not booming, but is revitalizing and is an attractive well-lit downtown at night. read more

I stay here whenever I'm in Schenectady and they are a lovely little hotel with all amenities necessary for a short stay. The staff is always friendly and very accommodating. The public spaces are always clean and the noise level is always respectable and I've stayed on all levels! With new hotels in the area, I'm sure the pressure of competition is being felt but this little place has my heart. I'll not be switching teams anytime soon! read more

I know the service industry has been hit hard with loss of business throughout the pandemic and staffing shortages, but the condition of the rooms in this hotel is awful. Sheets on the bed didn't look clean when I arrived (a hair and stains on them), shower and bathroom floor were severely stained/discolored, furniture and walls are stained. I had to go buy disinfecting spray and wear shoes the whole time I was in the room to feel only slightly comfortable. I've stayed in this hotel several times over the years when traveling to the area and have had good experiences previously, but things have gone significantly downhill. Can't recommend and won't be returning. read more

There are definite cleanliness issues at this Hampton Inn. The shower head in our bathroom was covered in black mold, as was the grout around the tub. The toilet sounded like it was going to explode each time it was flushed. The breakfast was super basic but sufficient for our needs. The room was large and clean, and there were no issues during my 7 night stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. Had I stayed in a suite alone, it would have been great! Sadly I was with my parents, which meant I was sleeping on the sofa bed. And it was one of those really bad sofa beds with the frame gouging my spine and hips. I think the pain actually put me to sleep. It wasn't that bad but compared to the real bed it was a nightmare. On the other hand, they had free hot breakfasts every morning, pool and hot tub open until 11pm, decent mini-gym, small "business center" room with the interweb, and the suite had two good sized HD LCDs with all the HD channels. Very disappointing! I stayed at this hotel Labor Day weekend 2020. I always inspect the hotel mattress for bed bugs when I travel. Upon checking the mattress at this establishment, I found a yellow dried stain which may have been urine. Upon check-in I had been advised that housekeeping will not enter rooms due to Covid-19. Additionally, when I made my reservation, my room was the last available. Therefore, I had no other alternative but to sleep on top of the covers. I refuse to sleep under the covers on what appeared to be a urine stain. Upon check out I advised the guest agent of my dissatisfaction with my room & I wanted to speak with a manager. The guest agent was unbothered with my grievance, as she nonchalantly handed me my receipt which was close to $400.00 & advised me "she will let them know". As I stood in the lobby waiting for my vehicle, what appeared to be someone from the mgmt team asked the guest service agent what was wrong with the mattress? The agent told the "alleged manager" about the stained mattress. The manager replied "that's why we use mattress covers"! Soooo, does that mean management is fully aware of the hotel's unsanitary conditions and they just cover it up with mattress covers? This is appalling & troublesome! I spent one night with my pet and parents. The beds were huge and it's $50 additional per pet. The place was so clean. The bathroom everything was stocked up and no bugs ANYWHERE. Heat and AC are adjustable on the wall. My family brought our own sheets and it's a good thing we did since the amount of hair on the linen wasn't appealing. Breakfast is from 6-10AM and checkout is 11AM. On the night we checked in the pool was open. It's not heated but I didn't really care since it was nice to relax in. Pool is open from 6-11PM (I think that's great since it's April and the weather is horrible outside). There's a fitness room and vending machines at the end of the hall by the elevator. read more

For four girls squeezing themselves into one hotel room for a wedding, this was perfect! Clean, quiet despite being right on the main drag, conveniently located. The lobby is really pretty and everything was perfectly clean. They had a little shop for things you may have forgotten while traveling. The parking lot is small-ish, but it's private, so you don't feel skeevy leaving your car there. The rooms are really small, but for four college friends, we're used to little personal space. I even slept on the armchair instead of in the bed (drunk and with a pretty wild head cold), and I was perfectly comfortable. The only thing we probably needed was more counter space to make ourselves pretty for the wedding, but I mean, for a normal amount of people in a hotel room, it would be totally fine. What an overall miserable experience. I booked this hotel because it is dog friendly, which is is...but that's it. When I checked in the room was fine, the location is sad. Inner city and dangerous. After I checked in I realized I needed to get my carry on bag out of the car in the hotel parking lot, it had been stolen. The police didn't even bother to come to the hotel and they haven't followed up with the on the phone police report. The hotel management shrugged their shoulders and said "sorry", and "we aren't responsible". After I met another guest who stays there regularly for his job he said the same thing had happened to him. Brand new (or nearly new) hotel in the heart of Schenectady. Wow, it's been years since I've been in Schenectady, but the change here is amazing. Way to go local civic, business, and theater leaders. Now the hotel. Rooms are large, clean, and nicely furnished. Being nearly new and super clean is certainly a plus for travelers. Parking is easy, and the staff was very friendly. The hotel's location provides for many local eating and drinking options within a stone's throw (using yelp for guidance of course). If you need to stay in or near Schenectady, this is hands down the best option. My only complaint would be that it is a little far from Union College, my usual destination, and one would need to drive at night time, as compared to the local Holiday Inn (but this Holiday Inn is a bit worn out). read more

I've never actually stayed at this hotel and I can assure you that I will never. I am getting married at Key Hall in February and had booked a block of rooms at this hotel in JULY. My thought was, "This is a really big hotel, there should be plenty of rooms, and everything will work out just fine". Well, I was VERY wrong. I dealt with Martha, who presented herself as nice enough. But by August, things had begun to crumble. Our wedding code was initially a three letter code with our last initials and "W" for wedding. Simple enough, right? Perfect for our wedding guests to book, right? WRONG. Shortly after we ordered our Save the Dates and printed cards with our wedding codes on them, the Hampton decided to change the wedding code to a six digit, completely random number sequence. Martha assured me that the code had not changed, but interestingly enough, my guests had trouble booking so they held off. The code does now work, thankfully. A few weeks later, my step mother called the hotel directly to try to book and was told that there was no wedding block for our wedding weekend dates. I called shortly after my step mother had called and was told "I have no idea what happened" and that there was "some kind of error code" that popped up when the person tried to put in our dates. My step mother consequently ended up booking at the Parker Inn (which is actually much less expensive and MUCH more preferred). I emailed Martha and she copied and pasted some generic apology to me and then went on to say that she contacted the tech department and the error shouldn't continue to occur. Fast forward to a couple of days ago, when I emailed Martha and asked her to please add ten more rooms to our block (because, by the way, they only give you ten blocks at a time and require you to request an increase when the rooms get all booked up). Martha said she would add ten more rooms to our block. Exciting! At this point, the Parker Inn is totally booked up, so I'm feeling relief that the Hampton will be available... NOPE. Several of my guests came to me today and said that the Hampton was completely booked up for the entire weekend. So... was I lied to when I was told that ten more rooms were added to my block??? I am so, so, SO disappointed in the chaos that has gone on at the Hampton. As I stated at the beginning of this, had I known how much of a headache this would be, I would never EVER have sent my guests to this hotel! read more

For the low rate I received while staying there, I'd say it's worth it and would stay there again. Good location, very convenient to downtown SCH. Breakfast was decent and included in the rate. Lovely Hampton Inn in downtown Schenectady. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, lobby was clean and inviting and complimentary breakfast was decent. Coffee was just okay but I freely admit to being a coffee snob so that one's on me. My biggest gripe would be the lack of a refrigerator in the room - a small annoyance but if you are staying somewhere more than a couple of nights, it's a nice touch and if you have leftovers from a restaurant it would be nice to be able to refrigerate them and since there was a good Italian restaurant right there, it felt wasteful. Location was central and easy to get to whether you came by train or drive here. Quiet with a nice fitness center, too. read more

Six months later maybe I am calm enough to write my review ... my BLOOD BOILS whenever I mention this to people ... and trust me I have told hundreds of people to avoid this place. 1.Computer crashed so had to take our info three times on paper. 2. No wifi - could not work as when it did come up we could not get it to connect as they spelled our name wrong. Despite it being on 3 different pieces of paper. 3. Hot tub not working nor was the heater in the pool. 4. Hubby went to car and forgot room number... As computer was not working he had to call me on cell to find out room as front desk had no idea what room we were in. 5. Noise from.street insane 6. Very very very very very very very very very hard to find.... 7. $180 ($240CAD) for this bulls**t. ...we got a rebate due to wifi problems as we stopped there so I could specifically work instead of driving on to home When we got the bill they had added $150 in "incidentals" to bill, like many hotels do, Took 5 days to release the money back and as the buy/sell rate for converting USD frm CAD is higher for "selling" and lower for "returning" we lost $12 in the process. The cleaning staff was really nice (hence the star), but the late night front desk guy had serious attitude. I turned in my key and all he said to me was, "do you need anything." I was like, "a receipt?" Then I asked if they called a cab for me, as I requested the previous evening. His response was, "well, they should've. Who did they call?" How was I supposed to know? He told us to make do that is all we have. We only moved to this hotel because our Hotel Double Tree lost power just down the road. In all our travels which is often hands down the worst experience ever. This hotel manager should be replace and staff should be re-trained. Stayed here recently for a business trip. Staff was very courteous. The room was clean, the hotel itself was well maintained. The business center was really useful to print boarding passes etc. Although the view could've been better...if I was in Hawaii :) I have no complaints. Guests for my daughter's wedding stayed here and we all had a great time. Rooms were large, clean, cool, and quiet. The only suggested improvement is that the scrambled eggs were squeezed out of a plastic bag in full view of guests, like disgusting space food. The eggs were inedible. I can't tell you how the stay was because I never even got a chance to get past the sales department. I tried to set up a room block for my wedding coming up in 2012. I called twice in 2011 with no response, I called again in February 2012, and then again in March 2012. I still had no response, so I decided to e-mail. I finally e-mailed the sales department, Bethany, and she wrote me back within 24 hours saying they are all booked for the weekend I needed. I am EXTREMELY upset because had I known this in the middle of last year, I would have found another hotel with room blocks. So now the Marriott is going to get about $5000 of my business and Hampton Inn gets ZIP! I hope your manager reads this Bethany. read more

Stayed here for 5 nights while visiting with family. We enjoyed it and felt that the hotel was a very good place to stay whir in the Schenectady area. The rooms and lobby was clean and nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly and professional. The morning breakfast was good and served well. It made a huge difference for us, since it was in the mid 20 degrees outside. To come down and have a nice breakfast and listen to watch the news was a real plus. We would definitely stay here again. Stayed here to two weeks while on tour with a show playing at Proctors. Rest of our group was at another hotel a drive away, but we wanted to be closer to the theater. I was a little worried about the previous reviews, but was glad we gave this place a try. Our room seemed very clean and new. We didn't have the best view or a lot of sunlight, and I wish that they had better non feather pillow options. I'm allergic and the foam ones they provided were verrrrrry thin, but really that's the only things nearing a negative. Small but nice/clean gym. Cute pool and jacuzzi. Full disclosure, I didn't get to use the pool during my stay, but it looked nice and clean. The hotel had a lovely lobby with a sofa and fireplace, and a nice and bright common room for breakfast. Oh and free coffee all day that was surprisingly good. Our room had a nice size mini fridge and a microwave, which proved handy since most area restaurants were closed after our show let out. But during the day, the hotel was blocks away from everything you'd need in downtown Schenectady. If you are staying in Schenectady this is a great option. read more
