The rooms feature wooden frames and drabby colors. My room was on the smaller side, but offered all the essential: bathroom, desk, chair and bed. The gym was on the top floor, and while small features common cardio and strength training equipment (treadmill, elliptical, leg press, free weights, yoga balls). The space feels intimate. A lot of the machines are quite close together because the space isn't super large. From the MSP airport, it's about a 20 minute drive.

Then the front desk opened it for me. When I entered, the guy at the front desk said, "You gotta use your key to get in at all times." And I said, "At all times?!? It's only 6PM" -- I would have understood if he said "You have to use your key to come in after 9PM"... but he responded with something about the unhoused population that are in the streets of St. Paul. So... I enjoyed the hotel. But honestly, wouldn't ever come back to St. Paul unless work takes me back there. It felt like the entire city was under construction. Prior to booking, I called the hotel directly and made it very clear that I would be traveling with my cats. I was explicitly assured that this would not be an issue. Upon arrival, I checked in with the cats present and again confirmed that I was traveling with animals. No concerns were raised. In fact, staff -- including valet -- interacted with us without any issue, and everyone was pleasant during my first night's stay. Originally, I had booked one night, but due to a delayed meeting I requested and was approved to extend my stay for a second night. Everything seemed perfectly fine until midway through the second day, while I was out at lunch, when I received a very abrupt and unprofessional text message from someone claiming to be a manager. The message stated that pets were not allowed, that housekeeping had entered my room and discovered the cats, and accused me of sneaking animals into the hotel -- which is completely untrue. I had left a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door, and I had previously been told by staff that rooms are not entered under those circumstances. My cats are quiet and would not have drawn attention. I was shocked and confused by both the accusation and the manner in which it was communicated. I rushed back to the hotel immediately to resolve the situation, but management refused to listen to my explanation or acknowledge that multiple staff members had been fully aware of the animals from the beginning. My approved second night was canceled, and I was ultimately asked to leave the premises and find alternate accommodations with little regard for the disruption or inconvenience caused. While most of the front-line staff I encountered were kind and the room itself was acceptable, the handling of this situation -- particularly the rude communication, lack of professionalism, and unwillingness to consider the facts -- completely overshadowed the entire experience. As someone who frequently hosts clients and recommends accommodations in the St. Paul area, I cannot in good conscience recommend this property.

Pool Access: The indoor pool was a decent size--not too deep (max 5 ft), which made it great for kids or casual swimming. On-Site Mini Market: There's a secure, key-accessible snack shop in the lobby, which is super handy for late-night cravings. I took advantage of the SPAC- Saint Paul Athletic Club facilities while I was there- Sauna, Steam room, and pool. Sad they didn't have a hot tub, but I made due. This is a hotel that you can go to and be very low key. They don't have a restaurant on site but their continental breakfast is a great deal. Everything was fresh. You could tell they needed more help since the line to drop off my keys was 30 minutes at one point. The management did apologize to everyone in line for the wait and ended up reimbursing the valet daily fee for waiting so long. The room was very clean and quiet, other than some street noise. The location is in downtown but a quieter area but an easy walk to restaurants and bars. Breakfast was typical HP style and quality.
