Hotel is clean, beautifully decorated, and I had a great stay. Offers continental breakfast, fresh brewed coffee of different roasts, and my room had all of the amenities. I'll start with the positive first, the front desk was very polite and helpful. They even recognized my ESA certified dog and was not charged a pet fee. The lobby was very lovely, and I appreciated being on the 5th floor which needs a room key to get to, none of the other floors needed that, which was nice if you're a woman traveling alone. My room was very big and spacious because it was a handicapped room. Ok now the bad. The elevator had moving blankets up because of renovations. My room had white sheets with stains and holes. The fitted sheet had stains and the flat top sheet had the holes. The white bath towels and wash clothes also had stains and a couple of them smelled horrible like throw up. My room didn't feel very clean but luckily I was only there for 1 night while traveling a long distance. I don't know what my room was next to but it sounded like someone running a tub faucet to fill a never ending pool of water. I was on the 5th floor no where near the pool so I have no idea what it was. I could hear it really loud in the bathroom and loud enough once the room was quiet when I was going to sleep. The sound lasted all day and night. For the price I definitely wouldn't stay here again. The room was decorated so ugly and way different from the other photos online and very different from the hotels website and other reviewers photos. My room looked more like a cheap Super 8 or Motel 6 with bright lime and neon colors. So ugly it was awful. It was far too expensive for dirty sheets, stinky towels, and a gross cheap looking continental breakfast. Ps. The mini fridge in the room smelled like mildew and made everything I put in it smell the same. Also the ice in the ice machine on the 5th floor also smelled moldy. Beware. read more

3.5 stars and a decent hotel. We arrived early, an hour before check-in, and our room wasn't ready. I didn't think a hotel in this city would be busy, but it seemed fully booked the weekend we stayed. We left to eat and checked in later. A gentleman mentioned our room smelled of smoke so he lit a candle in the room. It was much appreciated as I hate cigarette smell. We had a problem with our first set of keys but they resolved it quickly. The room could use some updating and the carpets can use cleaning/ replacing but overall it was fine. I was just glad to get a decent hotel that allows pets at the last minute. The breakfast buffet was standard and okay. read more

Traveling from Houston to Tallulah LA. After trying two other hotels that didn't meet my expectations in Vicksburg MS (*Marriott & Riverview) I thought I would check out The Hampton Inn in Vicksburg. Liz was the front desk clerk, she was the nicest person I had met since arriving in MS.. Liz got me all checked in, after two previous dismal hotel rooms, when I got up to my room on the 5th floor I was pleasantly surprised..Mind you the Elevators will scare you, as they are prepped for workers renovating, but my room was clean, spacious and away from the Elevators. The only con I have for this hotel is the parking lot noise. If you are trying to sleep in you may be awakened by someone leaving the parking lot. Also they have a good breakfast eggs, turkey sausage and potatoes.. I definitely recommend this hotel. read more

This place is dismal. Rooms are just a step above a Texaco restroom. Mold in shower. Furniture and carpet badly stained. Furniture delaminating. Dim lighting, some full of dead bugs. Toilet needs to be flushed twice. I definitely did a thorough check for bedbugs. The hotel has signs everywhere apologizing for being under renovation. But I wonder if that's just a cover. Oh, and the bananas at the breakfast bar are rotten. There are probably a dozen other hotels within a mile of here, and I'd bet most all are better than this dump. read more

When we first walked in the lobby smelled like grandma spilt a gallon of her perfume. We got our key and went to the room of horrors. The room was filthy, bugs, blood, used tissues and more bad perfume. Outdated room. Came back down to checkout and a woman having a medical issued barely dressed passed out at the elevator. I picked this hotel off of reviews on google and Yelp. I liked what I saw on the outside. Very stately and reminded me of old southern mansions. Inside was very clean and lots of space to sit. If you are a government employee/military/vet ask for your government rate. The lady at the desk was nice and they had rooms available. I was on the 2nd floor with views of the street. Also there is Happy hour from 5-7 with free drinks. Good selection of beer, wine, and a few liquors. I thought everyone was nice and most people were traveling through or came here to do some sightseeing. Bed was comfy. Pillows were not my thing. And I thought it was odd to have the coffee maker behind the bathroom door in a shelving area. I'd rather get coffee downstairs near the desk. I asked for restaurants near by and received a booklet close by. If I was in the area again I'd stay here. Also the air wasn't turned on when I went into the room it was pretty cool already. But I turned my air on and man it got cold quick. read more

They put us in a different room but it was still dirty and not what we reserved. We had 5 people and were supposed to have 2 queens and pullout. Instead we had a pullout, roll in bed and a king. The reason I moved from Marriott properties years ago was because their hotels looked liked this too frequently. I really hope this isn't a sign for Hilton. The staff was very friendly. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Vicksburg, MS twice in December. Never again unless the rooms are repaired. PROS: the staff is friendly and hardworking. The lobby and dining area are lovely and beautifully decorated for the holiday. The breakfast was good and featured pumpkin spice waffle batter which made delicious waffles! CONS: Room 401 had mold and mildew growing significantly in the shower area. Room 419 (accessible room): had mold and mildew growth in the bathroom; was missing part of the safety latch to secure the door; had a gash in the bathroom door; had a broken toilet flush handle (it broke during the night so we pulled the chain in the tank to flush rather than having mgt get someone to fix it); had significant water damage above the bathroom lights; had a mattress with no support left in it; had no slip prevention in the bathtub which was incredibly slippery; had a shower wand that wouldn't stay up and yet couldn't be reached from a sitting position on the shower transfer seat; and, the room- darkening curtains had tears which were repaired with tape. We did not bring any of this to the attention of management because we were exhausted from our travel, and needed to head out on schedule in the morning. Thus, we are providing this information to management electronically. We have been staying in Hampton Inn and Suites properties for decades. This hotel is not representative of the standard to which we are accustomed from this brand. I have provided photos of some of the issues in Room 419. read more

If I could get less than one star I would! This was the filthiest Hampton Inn we've ever stayed in. We tried to get a refund for our stay, and all they wanted to do was give us points on our Hilton honors. They no longer welcome Hilton honors members as such, and don't give you that $.25 bottle of water when you check in. Your status has to be 40 times to maintain your status for the year. We went from last February to March being silver members, and we have to stay another 10 times to keep maintaining the silver level. We will not be using Hampton Inn. We stayed at four Hampton Inn on our trip in February for our anniversary, four of those Hampton Inn had Issues with heating or cleanliness. Their hundred percent guarantee is not 100% guarantee. They will put points on your Hilton honors card which will not do anything because there's not enough points given to even have a stay. At the very least I would not recommend any of the Hampton Inn in Mississippi. I did wait three weeks before posting these pictures for the GM from the Vicksburg Hampton Inn to call me on the phone. Hotel in desperate need of updating. New owner needs to get to work STAT. Staff incredibly kind and understanding. Switched from first room because it was dirty , had odor and bathroom had mold. Was given another room without fuss, but it was as bad and worse when I opened bathroom to find two "crickets" behind bathroom door. They were dead, but what the heck! How did they get there?! Are there more around the room? We went to desk and said we would not be staying and staff were very kind and did not charge me. This is NOT what I expect when paying for the Hampton Inn brand. I'll give this hotel two stars only because the size of the room made our stay slightly more pleasant. The bathroom was not clean at all and had peeling and mismatched wallpaper. The room had plenty of outlets by the bed for our electronics but that was about the only redeeming feature besides the room size. Hampton Inns have really been disappointing lately. We won't be staying at one again. We're trying our luck at a similarly priced Marriott tonight and so far we've been impressed. read more

For some reason many hotels, including nicer ones, have air conditioning that's crapola. -Large shower stall and a shower control that makes sense. -Nice complimentary breakfast layout each morning and a complimentary snacks/drinks time in the evenings. -Comfortable lounge area. -Convenient location right next to the Highway 20 exit and across the street from the Vicksburg Military Park. Not far from the historic downtown area. I'll stay here again if I ever make it back to Vicksburg. read more

This is my go-to place to stay when I'm half way home from visiting family in Texas. Traveling alone at times especially, I feel safe in the well lit parking area, and it's a comfort walking into the wide open, brightly lit lobby. It is immaculately clean, well appointed, great breakfast, but best of all are the staff. They called and told me I had left my refrigerated medicine in the room, and the hotel mgr Michael Hudson and his assistant William shipped my meds to me overnight, complimentary, and emailed the tracking number. This Hampton Inn has a bit of the antebellum mansion look, pretty yellow paint and two cannons out front. It's located right off the freeway and across the street from the entrance of the Vicksburg Military Park, so it's impossible to miss. The lobby is larger and more impressive than most Hampton Inns, with shiny patterned floor and fireplace. I believe the hotel is only partially integrated into Hilton's online reservation system. When we tried to reserve a room on the top floor, it showed that all rooms on that floor were full. During covid, I found that hard to believe. We travel frequently (well, we used to before March) and as a light sleeper, I prefer a top floor room at the end of the hall if it's available. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and understanding and were able to switch our reservation to the room we wanted. If you are a Diamond member, the hotel has reserved parking literally right next to the front door. Parking is free. The room was up to the Hampton standard. Maybe a little older than most, but roomy and clean. Beds were comfortable, wifi was fast, TV worked and it was quiet at night. Breakfast was above and beyond for a Hampton Inn during covid. The hotel serves a warm sit down breakfast, best breakfast we had at a Hampton during our trip through the South. Tables were spaced out, everything was clean. We felt extremely safe. It was so nice to have a real breakfast for free, and not just a bag with a water and a muffin. We would highly recommend this hotel! read more

Stayed here last night with a good start of the woman switching us from a king to a wanted two queens. The beds were on the small side and pillows seemed to be tiny blocks. Always bring your own pillow for a great night sleep. Room was clean but the bathrooms need a big time remodel. Some of the wallpaper was peeled back and tub looked like it was from 20 years ago. We had a problem getting hot water from the bath so I had to fill the ice bucket with hot water from the sink to toss into the bath itself. This hotel is right across the street from the Vicksburg Battlefield. They don't use digital key so if you are using app like we do, it will just show that your room is not ready. Desk clerks not wearing masks, despite all the Hilton propaganda saying how safe they are being. TV remote is sitting on top of a paper saying it's been cleaned. Not sure that it had or not. Our room's refrigerator had a humongous piece of ice across the entire width of unit and was probably 6" high by nearly that deep. So obvs fridge isn't getting looked at. And isn't operating correctly because it literally can't breathe. There is a nice courtyard behind hotel. They were serving their free nightly cocktail hour, as well as full normal breakfast, but we didn't use either so I can't comment. Indoor pool was open. Ripped bedspread, huge grease spots on dust ruffle and dirty smears of something all over wall right by headboard make that not very appealing. It's very 1980s in its look, which sort of blends in to historic town. Best part, after five minutes of checking in I called desk to see if I could use a vacuum. They didn't even question why we would want one so quickly. I overlooked first several pieces of whatever was in the carpet throughout room. I overlooked Doritos chip in carpet bc let's be honestly, lots of hotel rooms aren't vacuumed between every guest. Hey maybe maid forgot. But when I saw the toenail by the end of the bed I had to draw the line. That's gross even when it's your spouse, let alone the precious guest! Come on Hilton. I can't believe this is your brand. Have some pride. So I vacuumed my own room. And for a first, didn't tip the maid. Been in seven Hampton inns last seven nights across states, this was average but appears to be operating like covid isn't happening aside from all the posters declaring it so. Other tip - the gas station next door is tiny and had three girls working in it for some reason. Neither the boys bathroom or the GIRLS restroom had any soap. That's wrong I'm so many levels, even before covid. We did visit their museum downtown, which is worth a stop. Tons of local and Civil War period pieces. read more

I'll not lie. This is an older hotel for sure, but with that comes an appreciation for the old south appearance. I have been coming to Vicksburg for business for the last 3 years, and I stay her by choice. There are several new hotels in town, but my choice is the Hampton. This hotel exudes the epitome of Southern Hospitality. The staff greats you as you check in with a big smile and a warm welcome. In the morning the kitchen staff are always smiling and quick to help. In the evening Randy is ready to serve you during the hospitality hour(s). I love the old artwork on the walls. They are directly across the street from the battlefield so, if that is why you are here, you could not stay closer. I have brought my immediate and extended family to town, and I have put them up in the Hampton Inn because I know they will receive quality care. The hotel and staff never disappoint. read more

We traveled here from New Orleans, Asked for a bottom floor room. Ended up in #303. It was supposed to be (NON SMOKING) smelled like stale cigar smoke and old alcohol. The carpet had huge wear holes in several places and stains, and ripped sheets. We turned the window ac on and it only made the smell worse. Since we reserved a room for 3 days, we asked to be moved. The next room #331 was much cleaner and no smell. However the carpet was in the same condition as the first room. How did these positive reviews get here? I have stayed here a few times, pre-covid, and although it's well past it's prime and can use a serious refresh, it has always been clean. Not so this time. I have been in gas station restroom that are pristine compared to this! The bathroom was just nasty! There was serious black mold all over the base of the door and along the track and pink scum elsewhere. The shower door had so much scum on it it was clearly visible and even had what looked like hair conditioner in a streak down it. The toilet bowl looked like it hadn't been cleaned out in a while, no rim around it but definitely not shiny clean. The vanity was clean enough. The floor of the bathroom was so sticky our shoes stuck to it and left visible footprints!! We put towels on the floor to keep our shoes (no bare feet here) clean. The room was basically clean except for the charging station that was just gross with gunk on it. As I said the hotel needs refurbishment, carpets were scary, the black out blinds had a hole in them, and the door needed to be rehung, but I could have been ok if that was all that was wrong. The location was great and the bed was comfy and sheets appeared clean but those were the only positives. I didn't eat there and didn't with any staff except for a breakfast lady who wanted to be left alone. I can't imagine ever staying in this hotel again much less paying $200 a night for the privilege"!! read more

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in the perfect location for those wanting to visit the National Military Park as we did. We couldn't have picked a better location. The guest reception in the evenings, on-site store for drinks/food/ snacks, & morning breakfast are all very nice extras. Also, I am a sucker for an indoor pool & hot tub! When the indoor pool is freezing and the hot tub is boiling, it can ruin it for me. However, must say, this hotel does it RIGHT!!' The indoor pool is the perfect temperature. Not too cold. And the hot tub was the perfect temperature as well. It was relaxing & I didn't feel my insides boiling or begin to sweat to death. I didn't want to get out. Also, both were VERY clean. VERY! The room was nice. I would take the corner chair between the bed and window out as it makes it difficult for someone to get out of the bed on that side...unless they pick the foot rest up and put it in the chair...which is what we did. It also has some noticeable stains, as does the desk chair. While a bit off putting, after a long day of sight seeing, you don't care about the stains any more & the very chair I complained about IS quite comfortable. The bathroom is nice. Wallpaper is starting to come up just a bit & there is the faintest smell of mildew. I assume it may be coming from the shower curtain? The assortment of sodas & water in the refrigerator so we didn't have to leave the room to buy a drink were appreciated. And a storm took the electricity off and on the last night of our stay & the power was out the entirety of the time we were up and planning our departure (over 3 hours). In that case, being on the 5th floor stunk because we had to carry our luggage down all 5 flights, but the front desk was very apologetic. The 5 star is for the receptionist ( Marcia); I believe that was her name. She was were helpful and pleasant from the start. She also went out her way and assisted this family with a very old lady to their vehicle. Now the hotel is old, to be expected. The room and decor really need be to updated. When we are traveling back home to TX (Vicksburg is about 8 1/2 hours from where we live in Childress) we like to stay at this hotel. It has always been very clean, quiet, and typically reasonable. It is also located directly across from the entrance of the Military Park. The antique cannons in front are also a nice and interesting touch. There is black mold around the shower doors in my room and mold all over the bathroom ceiling. The room immediately small musty when you walk in and the sheets were stained. I would never recommend this hotel. It seems like a serious health issue! Other friends staying here have the same experience. You could not pay me to stay here again. read more

One of the nicer Hampton Inns I have stayed at! Very nice lobby, and they have a reception with free drinks from 5 until 7PM. The breakfast is typical Hampton Inn, but the rooms are very nice and it's a great location right across from the National Battlefield and walking distance to a Circle K right next door so you can keep the party going in the lobby even when the reception is over! I highly recommend staying here if you visit Vicksburg. read more
