We were really looking forward to spending a week here with our family and bringing the dogs with us too. Unfortunately, we were told in error that the hotel was dog-friendly, only to later discover it wasn't. My husband (who is a platinum) tried calling the manager several times to confirm and work something out but never received a response. Rather than risk driving four hours to Walla Walla only to be turned away, we decided to change plans. For the first time in a long while we skipped a Marriott stay and went with the Hilton instead and it turned out to be a great choice. The Hampton Inn in Walla Walla welcomed our dogs with open arms, had beautiful suites, and made us feel right at home. It's been years since we stayed at a Hilton property, but this experience reminded me that sometimes looking over the fence is the best way to go. read more

Overall, the hotel was comfortable. The girl checking us in wasn't on her game. My husband is lifetime platinum so he asked if there were any upgrades and she put us in a larger suite room. He also asked if we had an option for anything checking in (points or an item or bottled water), she said she had no idea. When we got to the room, someone else was checked into the room and they had taken the sofa apart. We went back to the front and I said "that room isn't ready for someone to check into it... can we have another." She said "are you sure?" I said "yeah, pretty certain." Then the other girl said something about the prior guest realizing he was too tall or big for the pull out and must have left it. The room itself was comfortable but it was just a weird experience. We had a peaceful night's sleep. I also would say that hotel front desk people should be a little more on it especially when you have more of a high ranking guest. This is the first time we have stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Walla Walla. Previously we stayed at the Marcus Whitman Hotel. Decided to try the Courtyard as the prices were lower and the rooms more modern. The hotel seemed pretty new and the room was larger than we expected. After looking at the website, we decided to get a double queen rather than a king since the king rooms seemed to be quite a bit smaller than the double queens. The room was quiet, but the AC unit was noisy so we shut it off at night and opened the windows a bit. There is a refrigerator and microwave in the room and lots of desk space. Even though they did not have a complimentary breakfast, the Bistro had decent food. I ordered a breakfast sandwich which was quite good. Very pleased with the Marriott and would stay here again when we are in Walla Walla. read more

Quick one night stay for work. Checked in using my mobile app and let them know I would not arrive until 9pm. Hotel was not full, plenty of rooms, and as a Titanium elite I thought for sure they would upgrade my room but the did not. Hotel is newer and clean/well kept. So disappointed in the customer service at this hotel. We stayed here because of our elite status, but there's definitely no benefit with that. The girl that checked us in and the bartender were the only ones even remotely engaging and nice. Don't forget to request room service if you want it. It's the first time we've encountered that, and literally nothing was said to us at check in about it. I might forego the points next time and just find a place that values it's customers. Pulling into the parking, there is plenty of parking and not a far walk either. Entering the hotel, it was a little different than others. Plain entry, but still attractive. Looking to the right are many options for hanging out. Sofas, chairs, table with chairs. Smaller groups to meeting groups. And a very moody hidden area with sofas. The bar/eatery is attractive and welcoming. Everything is very clean looking. There are many options in seating in this area too. But in this area the coolest thing are the booths with their own private tvs. There is a couch area near a fireplace too. The main area is probably the best area in any Marriott that I've seen so far! Our room 348 is simple and basic just like our last stay at Hilton yesterday. There is a funky closet with frig and microwave in it. We ate dinner in the restaurant here and it was fresh and delicious. We shared the Modern Cobb Salad w/ranch, the meatball flatbread, and the apple cobbler w/ice cream. The staff were awesome! read more

Space couch, space couch... [1] The Courtyard Walla Walla was a comfortable place to stay close to downtown Walla Walla's shops and restaurants. Within a half mile, you could dine at a casual cafe or upscale restaurant, or sip wine at one of the many tasting rooms scattered through town. If you are traveling with kids, a handful of fast food dining is at your doorstep. Because the property has been open just over a year, everything was ultra-modern, clean, and exactly as pictured. We requested a room (1 King, sofa bed) on a high floor and after checking-in using the Marriott app, our room on the top (3rd) floor was ready upon arrival. The bed and bath were comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was good, and the flat screen TV had a nice amount of channels including several HBO options. Basic wi-fi access is free [2] and parking is plentiful and complimentary. There is an indoor pool, but the temperature was unpleasantly cool in July. I wonder if they only heat it during the winter months? There is also an outdoor spa and small fitness room. Breakfast is not included, but they had a large dining and lounge area on the main floor with food and drinks for purchase. There are also convenience items and a microwave behind Reception.The lobby had a business center to work on your laptop and a quick print table. There were several cozy areas with TVs to watch a show or game as a group. Our experience with the hotel staff was excellent. Not to say that everything was perfect, but when we hit minor bumps in the process, all were met with a positive attitude and quick resolution. We had three minor issues during our stay and one was corrected by the time we reached our room after talking to reception. One suggestion I have for visitors is that one side of the hotel is next to a power plant. I personally get the heebie-jeebies about being near power lines, so I recommend you ask for a room on the other side of the hotel if that bothers you as well. While the hotel itself was beautiful, unfortunately there aren't really any good views from the rooms. For an easy an accessible place to stay in Walla Walla, this hotel definitely met our needs. [1] The modern Euro decor featuring the oddly shaped couch (which turned out to be a sofa bed) had us singing, "Space Couch, Space Couch," like Peter Dinklage in the recent SNL skit. [2] You can pay $4.95 a day for better 'high speed' access, but I didn't need it for our casual vacation use. read more

We stayed in the hotel this weekend. The rate was 305 dollars a night. At arrival all the clerk wanted was my drivers license and credit card. We asked if breakfast came with the room and she laughed and said NO especially not this weekend. She also said if you want your room cleaned you need to request right now. When we checked into our room it had a view of the garbage dumpsters and the wash. We contacted the less than helpful clerk and asked to speak to the manager and was informed they were gone for the evening but they would contact us and talk about our concerns. The room was clean. The manager never contacted us and on check out the morning clerk was surprised they hadn't spoken with us. She also said that the rate was elevated this weekend because they new it was graduation session. She agreed that we were being gouged and reduced the night rate a little. Just finished a great stay at the Courtyard. The hotel is in great shape and is located about 5 blocks from the restaurants and shops of downtown. The amenities are fairly low; but the rooms are very comfortable. The highlight of the stay, though, was the staff; who were consistently friendly, welcoming and efficient. We stayed there for 4 nights from 5-9 June. During this 4 days the Starbucks restaurant was closed from Mo - Tue. We booked with our Marriott points and the hotel is a category 4 but I wonder how can you be a category 4 if you don't even supply coffee and breakfast for purchase, just plain nothing. I was never a fan of the Starbucks bistro, the old breakfast buffet was much better and you could just eat some fruit and a coffee instead of purchasing a whole plate. This hotel looks nice, BUT, this hotel has the worst sound insulation between rooms than any hotel I've ever stayed. Pretty disturbing when you want to sleep and patrons come to their room on either side of you with no immediate plans to go to sleep, (television, chatter, etc). This may be my new favorite Marriott Courtyard! First time here, and I've really enjoyed my stay. This is a brand new hotel (about 9 months old) and they've done a great job. The decor has a boutique feel (which I love), and even better I got upgraded to a king suite. My room is awesome - #236! Separate living room with a full sofa, chair and desk/TV area. Lots of room. Also a nice bar area with a sink, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. I love having those amenities. Bedroom has a king bed, which is incredibly comfortable. I also like that each room has it's own thermostat. There's also a second flat screen TV, so you're covered for watching TV in bed. Bathroom is huge, as is the shower. Water pressure is great, and I like the modern fixtures, which again gives it boutique feel. Good blow dryer (always a plus in my book) and soft towels. Service has also been really good, and they have a large restaurant and bar area with plenty of seating. Didn't use it this time, but maybe on my next visit. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel and so happy they have a Marriott in Walla Walla. *Oh yea - the location is also really good. Very close to downtown, so very walkable. read more

This is one of the nicer Courtyards that I've stayed in. The room was fairly small, but they did a great job of making it feel larger by designing the interior well. The mini fridge and microwave were hidden in a cabinet by the window. The couch, was more of a love seat. The lamps all had additional outlets and USB ports to charge digital devices, even the lamb behind the couch had two plugs for those that want to charge a device while sitting on the couch watching TV or working. The bathroom was quite nice and clean. I had dinner in the Bistro and the food was good for the price. The steak is about what I expected from a Hotel that has a bistro vs a real restaurant. I was even brought a free appetizer, and the staff all made me feel welcome. If I find myself in Walla Walla again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here. read more

We stayed here after winning a stay at an auction. This location was not right downtown...but very close. It's a quick drive (I guess you could walk) or a short cab ride (if you've tasted too much wine). It was pretty easy to get to everything; restaurants, wineries, etc. The staff/manager was very accommodating and the stay is a good value. There is a pool, hot tub, nice "courtyard" as well as a bar and restaurant. They also have an area to buy drinks and snacks. The room was nice, clean, in good repair and comfortable. My only complaint was that the room was not very dark. There was a green blinking light above the bed (smoke detector) and night coming in under the door to the hallway. But all in all a good value and nice place to stay when you visit Walla Walla. read more

This is the nicest Courtyard Marriott I've stayed in. As a platinum elite member of the Marriott loyalty program I stay in numerous and varied properties around the country. I was in Walla Walla for business recently and stayed for 4 nights. The design of the hotel is such a compliment to the area and major industry (wine) it serves. But what makes this property so special are it's staff. I can't say enough great things about Logan and Rebecca the bartenders who made relaxing at the end of a long work day so perfect. They were the exact right blend of professional, personal and thoughtful. The team in the morning who ran the restaurant, took coffee orders and kept things moving did an incredible job. I highly recommend this as a property to visit and stay. I will be back. read more

This hotel is wonderful.. I stay here on my business trips two-three times a month & always have an excellent experience! The front desk agents are always very friendly & helpful. I believe her name was Rosa, helped me the last time & I absolutely appreciated her positive energy. The hotel is very clean kept. The bar & restaurant area is nice, good drinks & great food. The rooms are very spacious & upscale! I wish the hot tub & pool area was larger but I believe they only have about 300 rooms so it's a decent size for the property. The rooms are all nicely decorated, spacious & clean. I believe all of them have a microwave & fridge. The beds are super comfortable & the rain shower in the bathroom is everything. This is a great place for business trip it has everything. The shuttle drivers are very nice they take you and pick you up to places bcz there is not many Uber drivers in Walla Walla. Chad was amazing seems like an experienced service provider. Doran was very nice too but needs to get little comfortable w guests, he has a great potential, he was very nice and on time everywhere. I'm a Marriott traveler, meaning I want my points and a nice comfy place to sleep. The hotel has a shuttle from the airport and you will probably be traveling with the crew. ( we booked the shuttle back with the crew too). Hotel is about a 10 minute walk to all the action. Meaning the downtown area. With all the food and wine you want. The hotel was clean, modern and accommodating. The staff went above and beyond. Having to do multiple jobs. Shuttle driver and front desk. Been traveling to Walla Walla for several years now for a close to home break from the daily and weekly grind. I have to say The New Courtyard By Marriott is top notch not only in room's, amenities and location but most of all the staff is absolutely wonderful. From the greeting walking in the door to the guest rooms staff, maintenance team and especially the GM. Everyone is smiling, friendly and welcoming! Their 1st impression is a 5 star one for sure! The room was spotless, bed was comfortable and had everything I could imagine. Towels were bright white and nicely displayed in the bathroom. The Marriott group did a great job with the hotel and I am super impressed. The GM and her team are just exceptional and unless they are booked on a weekend I plan to come to town I will not stay anywhere else in Walla Walla or surrounding area's. We loved our room. The sofa was perfect for lounging to read or watch TV. There were some issues with individual outlets not working. However, this thoroughly modern hotel had more than enough available outlets to make up for it. They even have multiple USB ports for our many devices. The Bistro was a hopping place. The drinks are not inexpensive, but they pack a punch! This is an excellent addition to the Walla Walla valley. read more

Where to begin. Let's start with the good. The employee who works both the front desk and the bar, Danish (pronounced like Duh Nish), was the lone person to show any care or concern. Too bad he isn't in charge, maybe something would get done. Joe, the engineer, seems to know what he is doing but he also has no power (budget) to remedy problems and is "waiting on corporate" to resolve issues. Now what was wrong: 1. The Air conditioner didn't work well. It would cycle on for about a minute then off for about ten. This is due to the "cabinet" they built around the unit causing the cooled air to be sucked into the return air. The return air temperate sensor (not the room themostat) then detects the air as too cold and cycles the compressor off. The room never gets cold. I built a "duct" out of cardboard and duct tape--see photo. This helped get the room down below 71, but was not a good solution and what a pain--I should not have to do that!!! It wasn't even a warm weekend for Walla Walla. The cabinet needs to be redesigned, or they should purchase some portable A/C units for rooms that won't cool down while they are "working with corporate to solve the issue". They offered us the following resolution: "if you want to move to another hotel we won't charge you for the night". Seriously? We were there for Spring Release weekend, every hotel was booked up many months ago. Maybe go out and buy an A/C unit, or even a fan might have helped move the warm air towards the return air intake--or build the ducting contraption I made for guests--ugly but functional... something other than you are free to leave---heck, even offering a credit/discount or free breakfast might have been a nice gesture but they offered nothing and didn't seem to care at all (other than Danish). 2. The beds- terribly uncomfortable for being brand new--we had a king and we being pushed together as the middle was not supportive compared to the edges. 3. A blinking light in the room- very faint, about once every 3-5 minutes, only visible in the dark, but very annoying when trying to sleep. 4. The curtains. really cool they are on an electric track and open close for you with a gentle tug---not so cool: they don't do a decent job getting the light blocked edge-to-edge and come morning the room is bright with the curtains closed. This needs to be redesigned as well. 5. The shower. Our shower curtain was not long enough--the lip on the shower and the bottom of the shower curtain had a gap, which meant that you could not have the bottom of the shower curtain inside the shower and half of the water drained onto the floor of the bathroom. Very annoying. The showerhead, however, was wonderful and worked really well! The bathroom "fan" which was a vent supposedly sucking from a central fan did not remove moisture or smells quickly and was very weak. The hotel other than the room: 1. Breakfast- I ordered the "scramble" which came with your choice of meat. The "scramble" was not a scramble. The scramble was a basic 2 egg breakfast that came with scrambled eggs and your choice of meat on the side. Someone needs to teach them that a "scramble" is eggs scrambled with meat, onions, usually peppers, etc. all together and served, in most cases, over hash browns of some sort. Not here. Also the potatoes were very bland deep fried nuggets. 2. Luggage carts- This is Walla Walla. The main tourism is wine tasting. Most people buying wine bring it to their room to keep it from getting warm in the car. Most hotels without bell service don't need many luggage carts as guests usually wheel their suitcases in and out. Here, the average guest in Walla Walla is going to be loading their car up with several boxes of wine on a Sunday morning to head home. 3 luggage carts for the entire hotel simply does not work. They need many more. Until they get more, although they don't have a large staff, they could have a person or two act as a bellman for a few hours on Sunday morning so that the few luggage carts they have actually get returned quickly instead of being brought up to a room and kept for hours. They could also get some basic hand trucks or moving carts. I had to use a business center rolling chair to move our wine. Get a clue and try to service your guests. Overall I slept very poorly and wound up in a bad mood all day Sunday due to being exhausted. There are some good things about the hotel, such as the location, it was very clean, the hot tub was outdoors, the lawn was beautiful, parking was plentiful and if they fix several issues, as described, it will be a reasonable option. As it stands now, however, they have a long way to go. I personally found the experience horrible and don't intend to return to this Courtyard nor any other Courtyard by Marriott--the problems seemed to stem from a poor design and trickle down corporate policy that was not adapted to the local market rather than something done wrong locally. read more

Made reservations via Hotel.Com and upon arrival was informed that room service was no longer an expected service unless specifically requested. Was also informed that breakfasts and the lounge were closed even though restaurants and bars were open in the area. Morning coffee? No sir. Starbucks had taken over the lounge and that expected morning brew would now cost you. Asked for fresh towels when we went out for breakfast and upon return, found towels on bed but soiled towels were still in shower where we left them. Not blaming household staff for the less than steller service but find this chains basic service mode lacking. This is management at its cheapest. We paid 141.00. per night for the same service that one would expect from Moter 6 at twice the price. My advice, save your $ and look for a better lodging. Very disappointing experience. read more

Nice place, very modern. Room was spotless, bed was comfortable. We stayed 2 nights and our room was not made up, so that was odd. Toiletry products are really nice and smell delicious. I was very impressed with the staff, they were kind, knowledgeable and courteous. They have a small cafe/restaurant that takes up the bulk of the reception/first floor area. You cannot sit at the tables unless you're patronizing the cafe. It was rather awkward to sit at one of the couches in the general area to eat our dinner we brought in when all the tables in the cafe were available. read more

I recently adult and and nonalcoholic bottles of beverage to be put in my sisters and brother-in-law's room at the Marriott. They were there celebrating a special birthday at my sisters. When they got to the room the bottles were there and my sister was absolutely shocked. What a wonderful thing! The staff I dealt with over the phone was courteous and patient with me as we try to figure out what would be the best thing and what they had available. I left it up to her she picked the perfect thing Prosecco and carbonated apple juice thank you thank you Marriott your staff couldn't have been more delightful to deal with I am very sick and taking a lot of drugs I couldn't quite clear my head to think of what was the right thing she picked and did an excellent job thank you again. read more

I reminded her of my amazement at a $14.25 meal only being served with "FRENCH FRIES"... I told her that I WILL NOT ADVISE any of my business associates to EVER order a dinner at this hotel!! The MARCUS WHITMAN HOTEL will always treat your dinner as the dinner it should be... With something that includes a vegetable... AND NOT EMBARRASSING SUCH AS FRENCH FRIES!!!! I am on a business trip and want to feel like I am somewhat home away from home. I'm totally embarrassed to have even ordered this meal... 2. The meal "after it was prepared by the chef" was prepared to order and done correctly... With "fingerling potatoes and cauliflower and green beans... It was FANTASTICALLY prepared for me and my company to see... 3. The service staff is wonderful as always... I have been here before for drinks that are wonderful. The server I had was able to get rid of the damn EMBARRASSING "French fries" and replace it with the "fingerling potatoes and vegetables" at no additional charge. Way more than I could have hoped for out here. Their restaurant offers local wine selection from Walla Walla including from Three Rivers winery.
