Spent few nights here while in Chicago area. The staff members were friendly and welcoming, quick check in and off to the room I went. The room could use some upgrades - especially their TV, they had a 32 inch TV that's been around too long, didn't have any digital channels unfortunately. On the last night of the stay, few of the guests on the same floor were having parties in their room, one room had music blasting, few other rooms had folks yelling.... yeah customers need to realize that, they are NOT at their home lol. read more

Stayed here for 1 night for business. It's in a great location as there are a number of restaurants nearby, including a great breakfast joint just a few minutes walk away. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The service is excellent, especially from the young gentleman at the front desk. Friendly and eager to help any way he can. I appreciated the details such as having a clean water dispenser at the elevator. I like to load up on water during my travels so that was very convenient. The hotel has a restaurant and snack shop in the lobby area for those who want to stay inside and still grab a bite/drink. I would stay here again when I am in the area. read more

My company booked this place for me during my training week in Chicago. I'm pretty ho-hum about my experience here. Nothing great stood out. The positives: - The king sized bed in my room was insanely too large. - They offered up free breakfast (which I never had a chance to try) - They offer free shuttle service (never used, company gave me a car) - They do have a gym - The maids ended up leaving me extra sugar and creamer one day (thank God, two sugars for a cup of coffee??) - They have Paul Mitchell products for guests (which was nice, been a long time since I used those) - Mini fridge in the room - Close to everything in Schaumburg, including a great bar The negatives: - No mini bar - No safe - Gym didn't have a water cooler my first few trips - Gym was very limited on equipment - One elevator was out of service during part of my trip - The front desk wasn't much help at all with directions Overall, this place was just average to me. I wouldn't pick it again, mainly due to the gym. However, if you're here and need a bed to sleep in and don't plan to be at the hotel much, not a bad option. read more

It was fine - not terrible, not great. Location was good and the property overall was pretty clean. Outdoor area and fire pit were great - and we had beautiful weather, so we enjoyed outside space throughout our stay. The bathroom felt unkempt - shower head was clogged and water was spraying everywhere, including out of the bath spout because it didn't seal when switching to shower. The room was clean, but just felt worn and dingy. The pull out couch was pretty miserable (although this is to be expected - not really part of this review). All that to say, the staff was really kind and accommodating. So 5 stars for the staff! Too bad the facilities didn't match. read more

This hotel is close to Woodfield mall and seems like a good location, but the streets around it are all ripped up and it is a depressing area with closed restaurants and industrial buildings surrounding the property. Rooms are dark and in dire need of updating. The furniture is all dark wood with a distinct 1990's vibe. Service isn't great. At check-in the reception person said breakfast was available until 10am. Went down at 9:32 and was told that they closed at 9:30 and they refused to provide breakfast. So a terrible exterior, dated interior, and staff that just doesn't care. You can do better, especially with all the options in this area. read more

Our group had a wonderful time at our overnight Retreat. The staff was very accommodating and friendly in the midst of all of our special requests. It's situated in a great location close enough to Woodfield Mall.but far enough away that it feels special. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Meeting space was great and flexible as needed. This place isn't too bad of a stay and I may return, mostly because of the location but I'll be honest, I doubt it. THE POSITIVES: - The staff is incredibly friendly! I arrived after midnight for my stay and when I walked in, the front desk was very kind and helpful. The woman I spoke to, her name was Jaime and she was positive and upbeat - even late at night. Which was nice. - The rooms are clean. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all with the cleanliness of the room. - The beds are comfy AND large! I fell asleep IMMEDIATELY. - The bar/cafe downstairs is AWESOME! THE NEGATIVES: - The pool was closed and I came here because it had a pool and hot tub... - And I never found the hot tub. I'm not sure they have one. - The gym is VERY basic and tiny. It gets the job done, but it's not an exciting or updated place to be - The walls are THIN. There was some sort of tournament or something happening, so I ended up being next to some INCREDIBLY loud teenage girls. I know the girls wanted to have an amazing time, and I didn't want to be "that adult" that was ruining the fun....but I was hearing children running up and down the halls PLUS banging against the wall for HOURS (ALTHOUGH when I called downstairs to complain, the noise from the girls DID seem to go down a bit. So at least they tried). - The location is hard to find. I struggled to find the parking lot into this place, but that's not a HUGE deal. It's just a bother. All in all, it's not the worse place in the world. The location is next to some awesome restaurants and the staff here are nice, but I wouldn't stay again due to how loud my neighbors are and how easily I can hear what they are doing. Ver clean, cozy, professional looking. The staff was very warm, friendly, inviting when I checked in, it was very helpful and answered all the questions that I had. The room that we got for the night was very cozy, modern, clean, and inviting. Definitely one of the better hotel rooms I've stayed in in the Chicago area. Decent bed, comfy pillows, very much a welcome compared to a few other places I have stayed at around this area. The shower was the big surprise. NO LOW FLOW, even on the 5th floor. Good pressure and a good shower head. I am real anal about my showers in hotels, and this one is by FAR the best I have had in the Schaumburg area. I did have a problem during my stay, which when I went down to the front desk, they were very quick and accommodating to resolve my issue. The only real beef I have with this hotel is that the front desk staff is not always at the front desk, you have to dial zero on the phone at the front desk to contact the clerk that's on duty. But honestly that's a very small issue that is not a big deal and does not really affect how I feel about my stay here. The only reason why this did not get a 5 star review is simple because there is no true free wifi. You get a slow wifi for free, but a speeder access wifi you have to pay for. Boo! This place should be getting a 4 1/2 star rating, but the wifi issues keeps me from giving it a perfect score. read more

After staying one night in this hotel my wife found bites all over her body. The denied the possibly a first, but after an inspection they confirmed the room at bed bugs. My wife was traveling for work after this and had to be around new work colleagues while being covered in these disgusting bites. It was embarrassing, she made unfortunate first impressions, and she was extremely uncomfortable which caused loss of sleep. She had to get an emergency prescription from our doctor. I had to fumigate our house and cars and rewash all of our clothes. The hotel provided points for the inconvenience but refused to agree to my terms (slightly more points). Marriot customer care didn't care AT ALL and has stopped returning my emails. AWFUL experience! read more

For the moment I stepped in I was made to feel very welcome. Reception was sleek and inviting. My room was newly refurb end, clean with great climate control as it was cold the first time I visited and warm the next. Wifi was great in the room and free for elite members even the higher speed. The bistro/bar in reception was open late and great for a night cap. The hotel was close to the mall and other main attractions in the area. A couple of weeks ago, I found myself staying at this hotel in Schaumburg as part of a training I was leading. We used one of the conference rooms in the hotel, and I stayed in a double room for 3 days and 2 nights. The staff were incredibly friendly, and responded to any of our questions/needs/concerns as best as they were able to. The hotel is clean and modern, with a great breakfast buffet in the mornings (not free). The cable channels were a little limited, but included HBO, and there was free internet (BYO-Ethernet cord if you don't have wireless) in the rooms. The location is really convenient: its right across the street from Woodfield Mall and several nice dining options. If the weather is nice, I suggest walking. There is an outdoor seating area with chairs and a gazebo, a lounge area when you walk in with a TV and free internet/printing, a laundry room, a pool/hot tub "spa", and fitness center. All great options for people with time on their hands. There is something funny that happened to me there: I was walking from the lobby after requesting lotion since I forgot mine, when I got into an elevator that was waiting on the lobby floor. When I got in, there was an older man just waiting in there. Which I thought was weird....needless to say he was not a guest at the hotel, and after walking towards my room at the opposite end of the elevator and looking back only to find him looking at me from the elevator, I was a little rattled. What happened was a nearly 20minute attempt for myself to try and "lose" him in the hotel. I don't know why I didn't tell the staff, but I know if I had, they would've responded appropriately. Nothing like that had ever happened to me, so I was just shocked. However, this doesn't detract from my overall rating of the hotel, it wasn't their fault, I don't think.... read more

As a business traveler I stay in more hotel rooms that anyone could care to, and while I don't swear allegiance to a particular hotel chain I thought this place was great! Admittedly I prefer staying at a slightly higher tier hotel (Westin/DoubleTree), this experience will definitely have me coming back! -Super comfy room, great amenities! -Bistro in the lobby is new for concept for Courtyard. One thing i have to mention is the amazing AC units they have in the rooms; i have never stayed at a hotel where they really let you choose your own temperature. Great location right in Schaumburg right across the Woodfield Mall. Good pricing. Staff was friendly. Rooms are pretty spacious & comfy. The guy working The Bistro counter was very friendly. My only cons were with the bathroom. 1) unfortunately, like another reviewer wrote, upon check in there were black hairs all over the tile. 2) not nearly enough towels provided but were delivered immediately after calling for more. 3) the shower heads could stand to be updated. The water comes out rather violently. 4) the water pressure is strange. It would go up & down randomly & the temperature would change as well. The valve was also super sensitive. We stayed as a family with a child and really enjoyed our experience. The room was clean, well appointed, and comfortable. There were the usual conveniences, plus an in-room fridge. High-speed internet access was free. The staff was friendly and the customer service above average. We forgot a power cord for a medical device (big problem) and the front desk provided us with a spare (fast and considerate solution). We did not try the pool, whirlpool, workout room, or breakfast. The bathroom was especially nice and the beds (we had two queen-sized) comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. The location is unbeatable. It's near everything you want to do in this part of the Northwestern Chicago zone. Parking was ample. Security was sufficient. The sound barrier between rooms was decent (although ask for a room that is not near the stairwell doors at either end of the hotel -- you can hear that door opening and closing). Recommend you go through Hotel.com for cheaper rates -- we did and thought that the rate we got ($79/night with $99/holiday night) was a reasonable value. We did not much enjoy Schaumburg overall (crowded, heavily commercial, unnecessarily expensive), but we would stay at this hotel again if we were in the area. read more

The one thing that really bothered me about this place is that I paid for a room with a king size bed and we did not get one. The room was also not very clean. When we got there the bathroom had little black hairs all over the floor. The wall next to the toilet had red/orange stains splattered on the wall. It almost looked like blood...You could also feel that the carpet was really dirty and sticky. When I went to check out I was told that there was some incidental charges on my card. When I asked what the charges were the person at the desk told us that my room had ordered food. This was not true at all!! I never ordered any food and the person I came with never ordered any food either and we sure as hell did not get any food delivered to our room! The lady at the desk was very nice about it and deleted those charges. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to a friend and I would not want to stay there again. read more

The Courtyard Chicago Schaumburg was very nice. I only had a one night stay, but I was pleased. The front desk staff were friendly and made sure to give me documentation that had been left for me by conference organizers (reason for my visit). The bed was soft, the room was clean, and there was even a mini fridge. My only complaint was my room layout. Although it didn't affect me in my very brief stay, the tv in my room was pointed away from my bed and situated almost behind a post. It would have been extremely difficult to sit in bed and view it, had I been inclined or had time to do so. read more

A friend and his wife came from out of town. They stayed here for three nights during Christmas 2020 holiday. Staff wore masks. During entire stay most visitors did NOT. They never saw staff encourage wearing of masks. Social distancing was NOT followed. Patrons gathered in lobby and other areas and visited in close proximity within their own groups and even close to those NOT in their group. They never saw staff encourage patrons to social distance. Lines for breakfast had people standing right next to others, no markings were on the floor to ensure visitors maintained the six foot distance. Staff did not monitor the lines. Because of this, they were unable to have breakfast. The way these things are being handled makes me worry if the hotel even does any sanitizing for Covid-19. read more

Reading these other reviews makes me laugh because people will find anything to be upset about. The price was great. The room was clean and spacious. The staff was very friendly. We always choose a hotel with a pool and hot tub and this has both. A very nice way to relax after a long day. Fire pit on the outside would have been sweet to chill by but of course mother nature had other plans. I would recommend this place to everyone! Don't be swayed by the jack holes on this website who, it would appear, will complain about anything. Its a great place with a great staff and great amenities! We chose this hotel when stuck in Chicago because of weather delays. Not the most hospitable hotel staff. Went to the bar, waited for the server to finish talking to her boyfriend and come serve me because I was the only one there.. Then charged me full price for a beer and proceeded to charge the next two patrons "happy hour" prices for their beer because she was slow... not happy about that. Went to get breakfast at 10:05, was told they could not cook me anything because the kitchen closed at 10. To me, you know you have a hotel full of guests that are stuck, you would be hospitable since you are in the hospitality business. read more

Fiance and I stood here on new year's eve and the room was nice and clean but the pillows were awful!! Also the Starbucks was closed, we checked in at 4pm WTF!? And it remained closed all night, very stupid! We requested extra pillows and blankets since none were in our room and the girl forgot about us twice! Said she would be right up with it and had to check on pillows but will call our room if she has none then bring up the blankets. That never happened! Stayed here on business last week. This was my first time staying at this location and checking in as well as the staff I first encountered was very good. First impressions was that this would be a great stay. However after returning from my work training the second day I noticed that I was missing medicine from the counter in my room. Keep in mind that this medicine was located beside the coffee maker and was on top of several other packs of the same medicine. I immediately reported the missing medicine to the front desk and they told me they would be contacting the housekeeping manager. After returning from dinner I came back to my room and also noticed that I was missing money as well. I let the same front desk agent know that I was also missing money and she replied that this was a very serious manner because of it. The next morning I left a "Do not disturb" sign on my door and proceeded to my work training. On lunch I came and spoke with the same lady I had worked with the previous day who introduced me to Hector. Hector then explained that the medicine was thrown away because the housekeeper thought it was trash and took the money because she thought it was a tip. I didn't buy either answer because of where the medicine was located (not to mention I had only taken 4 pills out of the 24 pack) and the money that was taken totaled under $3 with a handful of change (it was also the second day of my 5 day stay). Hector was very condescending during my encounter with him and although they gave me my money back the entire exchange with him left a bad taste in my mouth. Truthfully I'll go out of my way to not stay at another Courtyard location just because of this experience. read more

I usually have a good stay at Marriott but this one was not great. The lady at the front desk was very nice and having checked in on the app, all we had to do was grab our keys and go to the room. The room was where the issues were, the heat doesn't work, no matter what we did it was blowing cold air, even after we turned it off. The in room coffee is bad, and there is no sugar, creamer, etc. While they have a mini fridge in the room, it never got very cold and there are no controls to change the temperature. Another issue is the lack of outlets in the room, there are no outlets on the head wall an none by the nightstands so you won't be able to have your phone near you when it's charging. What outlets there are are weird, the plugs on devices are loose in them and jiggle around or fall out, not sure what that's all about but it's annoying. Last, they have Dish Network and it stinks. One night there was heavy rain and the television was out for over an hour, I probably won't stay here again. read more
