Some of the rooms have the most amazing view of the mountains (some, not all). Easy walk into town down a staired pathway.

Stayed at this location during a work trip. I'll be staying elsewhere if I end up in Lake Placid again. The fitness room is a closet of a thing with a clear view to the pool? Not sure who thought that wouldn't be creepy. The room was okay aside from the shower was broken and the drain wasn't draining. I slept fine and didn't wake up with bugs on me. Service and Hot - Tubs (2) Excellent! We stayed here on 3 different nights in a 2 week Period and Staff were always super Kind and Friendly! Especially Trey the Assistant GM and Mike who helped us Get Hot tub turned on , we called front desk and he arrived in 2 minutes! Super fast & friendly! We had 3 different rooms they were all very nice Tip - Ask for a room on the 4 th floor , less rooms there . Tip - Check in on Yelp and you will get a free Item off Menu in restaurant. read more

Stayed here after we came in early from backpacking due to injury. They accept dogs which is great. We asked for extra towels upon arrival and they were sent up well before we expected them. Plenty of soap for all of us post woodland adventure. Rooms were mostly clean though there was a layer of dust on everything. Cleaner than the woods and had running water! read more

The two stars is only because the front desk lady on 12/23 was delightful. This place is dated and broken. There are 2 hot tubs- one out of order and the other is lukewarm with broken jets. We did get upgraded to a whirlpool tub thank goodness. Bed was comfortable, but even the upgraded room is not worth the price paid. We will definitely not ever stay here again. read more

Beautiful building. Parking lot was almost full, so I'm not sure why the restaurant and bad were closed. Which was inconvenient for our stay. Most people like a cocktail while on vacation. Stay here last week. The staff at the bistro was wonderful. The issue we had was with house keeping and the front desk. The gentleman working Saturday and Sunday morning was rude and indifferent. House keeping knocked on our door twice. Both times after 2pm. I asked the guy at the front desk when we could expect them he said anywhere between 9 and 4. I then asked if he could at least send up some fresh towels. Whole week and we could even get fresh towels. Would not recommend this place. read more

I don't usually give Courtyards 5 stars, but I've stayed here several times over the last few years and have always had a great experience. Stayed here again last night. Rooms are always clean, staff is consistently friendly (without being "over the top") and the lounge area downstairs is very nice. The rooms that I've stayed in are oversized...which is lovely. I was upgraded last night and the room has a gas fireplace and a whirlpool tub. It's easy to get in and out of the parking lot and it's not a terrible walk to the center of town. Never been to Lake Placid. Squeezing in a Winter weekend before it gets too late. I was looking endlessly for a little lodge, or a B&B, imagining rustic charm and a cozy fireplace. In the end, I went with the fallback -- the Courtyard. I am Titanium Elite, so Courtyards don't excite me too much. I was also a little bummed that this hotel is about a mile south of downtown, where all the action is. In the end, it was a solid choice. Staff was super-friendly and helpful, as always in a Courtyard. Our room was clean, nothing spectacular, but had what we needed. We were fortunate to be on the third floor at the end of the hallway by the stairwell, so it was like our own private entrance -- in the back door, up the stairs, right to our room. (This is during COVID pandemic times). Even though the hotel was full, it was quiet. We joked that my wife didn't see another person in the three nights we were there. Due to COVID, the Bistro was open for breakfast only, with limited selection. Some folks hung out in the Bistro around happy hour; the bar is closed, but they were BYOB. Surprisingly to me, the pool was open and folks were in it. Not my thing during COVID. Also, the location wound up being great for us. We were actually glad we were not far out in the woods in a cabin, nor right downtown where all the traffic was. The location is perfect. Two minutes from down town. Walk to the ADK Corner Store. A minute from the Big Slide (great brew-pub, you should go!), Salt of The Earth and a few other little shops along the road. I liked the location. All in all, not the romantic, rustic, woodsy winter stay we envisioned, but a clean, comfortable, well-located place. All good. read more

Expect a lot of places to be outdated here in Lake Placid. Good thing Marriott came along and built a Courtyard. It's a bit off the main street and has a weird location but nonetheless, it brings something fresh and new to this once-booming town. What else can I say, it's a Marriott... Stayed here for two nights. Very clean, updated & quiet!! (We we're also here on a weekday in winter) Price was reasonable as it was off season. Breakfast not included - like 14 bucks a person? -hotel charges you 20$ a day and gives $ back if you don't use it. (Money can be used for things like breakfast or drinks at the bar area) We didn't even bother checking it out tbh, theirs plenty more options right in town! The pool area was very nice however, the hot tub jets didn't work ???! Rather disappointing. They have a wicked nice gym. All in all, probably one of the nicest , updated hotels I've stayed at. read more

First night review....the room is nice, the size is decent. However, when we ordered dinner, it was an oversight and we didn't get anything. The night shift crew took over and my son asked about our food. The kitchen had closed and our food order went unattended. Trace, the night shift attendant, got the kitchen back up and running and got our orders out and it was yummy. Then, the second shift crew noticed this and gave us complimentary breakfast vouchers for this oversight. It was a shame that the previous shift forgot about our order, but the way the rest of the staff accommodated us was great! Thank you Trace! read more

I agree with the comment from the other review: "Nicest Marriott we've stayed in" -- this is a "new construction" hotel -- meaning it's modern and has all the updated decor. Nothing moldy oldy here. Clean contemporary feel. The staff is friendly - most of them greet you in the halls (unlike say, the Crown Plaza, where no one ever said hello to me during the week we were there) and are helpful if you ask questions. The hotel is toward the end of the free trolley route, right by the Horse Show. But the location is NOT CENTRALLY LOCATED to town. Most of the hub bub is on Main Street or Saranac Rd, but this hotel is way off. Free WiFi throughout the entire hotel (yea!) Free coffee downstairs in the morning (yea!) Free cookies by front desk in the evenings (yea!) Queen/Full beds in rooms. They don't have King size beds (normally, we ask for king + pull out coach format rooms when traveling with our kids). Outside, they had a door marked "Ski Storage" for what it's worth. Horrible / non-existent cell phone service (NO AT&T signal, even Verizon has spotty service inside building) (boo!) Breakfast Buffet is $13/$8kids - standard *basic* breakfast. Nothing to die for. Bar/Lounge (small) area has a good amount of couch seating for the space. Minor note, seating configuration was not done in a way to promote watching the TV's at the bar. Some tables had checkerboards / backgammon printed on them - don't know if game pieces are available or not. All new "updated" decor. Pool is very small, but well designed with two hot tubs above with "cascading waterfalls" (as per marketing materials) into the pool below. Each spa has 15 minute dial timer switch for the jets. One spa's jets are broken. Pool depth is 3 feet 6 inches in the shallow end, and 3 feet 8 inches in the DEEP end. Pool hours are long - I believe they are 6am to 11pm? Seating is limited (10-12 chairs) so I don't know how crowded it could get if the hotel is sold out of if is a rainy day, etc. But the pool was clean (READ: clear water, not murky, and it was warm, spas were HOT, and clean fresh towels were on hand). Gym is located right off pool, but similarly it is small (no bottled water here, but there is a water cooler). Even though the location was off, this hotel was pricier than the Crowne Plaza by the Olympic Training Center. Having stayed in a hotel right by Main Street, I really suggest you carefully consider the location in relation to your activities before booking. read more

Hands down the best stay yet! A coworker and I flew in for work on 8/1/17 and only needed a place for the night. The two gentlemen at the desk saw where our work had reserved a one bed room for two males. Laughing at us, they upgraded us to a king suite so we could have some privacy and our own sleeping area. Once to our room we were amazed at the lack of the "hotel/motel" feel. The suite exceeded our expectations. Once we settled in we went out to explore the local area(1980 Winter Olympic Games were held here). The small town was packed with Lax players due to a tournament but it was still very enjoyable. All of the bars and restaurants were filled so we just decided to eat back at the hotel. The bearded bartender at the little restaurant was a wealth of knowledge about the area. He explained aloud about the area making us jealous that we didn't talk to him first. The food we ordered was well above hotel expectations. Overall, I would definitely come back for a personal vacation just to stay here. read more

Sad came here for 3 days still here . And I'm very disappointed this is decently not the usually Marriotts I'm used to staying at . Got the breakfast and dinner package and it's sad to say I'm not happy first morning of breakfast was something I could've got free at comfort inn. Second morning after complaint a few new items but nothing that spectacular which is sad because I spent a decent amount of cash on adding in breakfast and dinner . Pool could've been a lot warmer I mean it's winter up that heat already in the pool water . Not super clean for the room rate I payed I'm very unpleased. Doesn't seem like a Marriott to me at all very sad . WiFi what WiFi connection stunk so working was a no go so lost a real lot of money this long weekend very sad . read more

As far as courtyards go this place is great. It's decor is beautiful but still fits the area. It's new feeling, clean and has a friendly front desk staff. The beds are comfortable. Parking is a little lacking. Full bar and ability to rent movies from your rooms tv is nice. It is disappointing to have a pool and hot tub area filled with kids. I wish they would bring back adult only hours but I heard parents complained about that past policy. read more

Do not come to this place ever!!! We drove over 6 hours from Manhattan and came to the hotel today around 2:50pm as check in time is 3pm, however they said our room is not ready yet. So we waited in the lobby for an hour with my two kids and luggages. No update. Then I asked the front desk if my room is ready yet. She says that she does not know as she is a front desk and she does not know what is going on upstairs. I did not pay $350 per night to have this miserable experience. Let's see how long they will let us to wait in the cold lobby. read more

I have stayed at this Courtyard twice now. It is not the Ritz, Four Seasons or the JW Marriott but for the area, it is good. They have been there six years now and have been (are) doing some updating. FYI-another chain has just built and opened a new place right on Mirror Lake. The renovations are almost complete. The pool/hot tub (indoor) is small but OK. The gym is small but has two really good treadmills. Breakfast is (was) included and last month the breakfast was much better than this month. It looks like they are adding a restaurant so breakfast may not be included in the future. The Wi-Fi works well. The new "social" room they just finished is nice. The rooms are large and clean and the bathrooms are big too. The employees are friendly and knowledgable. All in all, for being a Courtyard, it is good. But after my experience with this Marriott - charging me for a room I couldn't make due to weather cancelled flights (even though I called several hours before an early afternoon check-in). I booked my stay during the shoulder season, so I think I might have been 1 of maybe 4 guests in the entire hotel. It was blissfully quiet! My check in was great, my room was great and I had ordered a salad from the Bistro. The only really minor issue I had was the water temperature was kind of hard to regulate in the shower. It felt like all the hot water kept disappearing after 30 seconds. It was weird. I know they're in the process of a renovation, so that might have had something to do with it. Stayed at this Courtyard from 7/20-7/25/2017. We frequently travel and often stay at Courtyards and other Marriott properties and this one definitely ranks near the bottom. Overall cleanliness was okay. Beds are old and lumpy, with bad pillows. TVs are outdated. All of the front desk staff and coffee car employees were awful, downright rude and do not deserve to work in hospitality! The first morning, one of the coffee bar employees insisted on arguing with me that the bananas were ripe, when clearly they were green and bruised. At first I thought she must have been having a bad morning and gave her slack, however this uncharacteristic behavior was consistent all mornings at this hotel. Last week I traveled with my family to Lake Placid to enjoy the festive week between Christmas and New Years. I once again stood at the CY. We are no strangers to this hotel. The building looks great when entering. During this week the hotel is crowded. The staff is very pleasant and the place looks clean all day long. We had 2 rooms. On one day of our stay one of the rooms were not cleaned. I spoke to the Staff and they sent up amenities and towels. This was the first time I had a service issue here so I'll give em a 'mulligan' The food is OK. They have a daily breakfast and dinner service. There is a bar service in the evening but there are only a few stools. There is very ample parking on site. What makes this hotel desirable is the proximity to Main Street and Whiteface. The Prices are a little high but it is the 'Christmas Week'. If you are traveling in the area take a look at this place. read more

Great hotel in a central location. The hotel is just over a year old. It's staff was extremely nice. Very clean and modern rooms, not the normal green & maroon tacky Marriott colors. The common areas are warm and inviting with a fireplace. They offer breakfast in the morning and a bar menu in the evenings, but no room service. Can't give it 5 stars because it's not a full service hotel but it's the nicest Marriott I've stayed in. read more

Enjoyed a lovely weekend in Lake Placid thanks to the courteous staff at this hotel! The hotel was clean, well staffed, and offered a fun, upbeat atmosphere. Every interaction with the hotel staff was pleasant and I felt like they were genuinely happy to help us with anything we needed. The front desk employees were very attentive and quick to respond to our requests. Great location, decent gym + pool + hot tubs. Outdoor fireplace added a nice touch. Horrible service and not kid friendly. GM is aragont and the security guard is on video lying to guests and trying to intimidate the kids. He was telling parents he had keys to the rooms. At noon some kids were told they were being to loud. Noon lol. They weren't even my kids if you advertise for a hockey tournament then you should be set up for them. If not dont advertise for it. I am sure 2/3s were hockey families there. They cost more for the weekend than the hotels in the area and they do less. Personally if you have to have a security gaurd roaming thru the halls with a key i dont want to stay there. Been doing hockey tournaments for 10 years now and this was probably the worst experience. Maybe they should hire an activity person to help with kids vs a guard. And seriously if you want that quite of a place that you cant be loud at noon then you need to stay at a bed and breakfast. At least the agm had the courtesy to talk to me in person but because the GM couldn't be bothered nothing could be settled. My video will show the true colors of the hotel. read more

Receptionist was awesome, she took care of us and made sure we knew where everything was. There is a trolly that goes into town every hour and it's only a $6 cab ride otherwise. The room was amazing, had a seperate living room area with a fireplace. Has a spacious bathroom and little kitchenette which was perfect since we had our 4 month old. very disappointed with this incredibly expensive stay. when I arrived, there's no place for people to park to check in so you have to go to the back of the hotel for no one else has parked yet then circle around the outside to check in. When I entered the hotel, the front desk staff was chitchatting with some guests about their favorite foods. I don't mind you finishing your conversation but at least acknowledge my presence with more than a glance and don't carry on the conversation for another four minutes again not acknowledging my presence the entire time. i'm not sure if the issue was you couldn't be bothered to check me in or you thought that my standing there at the front desk with credit card in hand meant you were put out? should I have interrupted your conversation to say "excuse me, I would like to check in" -- which would have been rude, but it is New York? When I was finally acknowledged, there was no welcome to Marriott, did not ask my name, just said I need your ID, did not acknowledge my gold level membership, did not confirm how many nights I was staying, did not confirm my rate, nothing, just, "here is your key" - well excuse me for interrupting your conversation. when I asked where the room was in relationship to the parking lot and the various doors around the hotel, I was told "the elevators are right here so park as close the front doors you can." Yes but where is my room in relationship to the parking lot? "It doesn't matter the elevators are right here." I would like to park near the room, "there aren't any other elevators just these here" i wanted to shout, omg woman, it is the second floor! I can walk up one flight of steps! instead, I asked, "oh, you don't have any stairs in the hotel?" "yes we do, but the elevator is here." that's okay, I can walk up the stairs I just need to know where the room is in relationship to the parking lot. Her response "I don't know" ... but she did make sure and get the plug-in about how I should go buy food at the restaurant. before starting on my trip, I believed there would not be a microwave as courtyards generally do not have my question the rooms. So I double checked the website which said there were microwaves and then called the hotel to confirm. I was told yes microwaves in your room. .... there wasn't. Very frustrating because I would've brought a little microwave with me for my weeklong stay if I had been told accurate information. I had requested a top floor room, which I understand they cannot guarantee your request, however, at least acknowledge in some way that you're not going to honor my request especially considering I stayed 57 nights at Marriotts this year. bottom line, the entire checking experience left a very sour taste in my mouth. The room itself was okay, although the lighting is very poor and the television is set up behind the closet so there's only one spot in the room you can actually watch TV. location wise, it was a short drive into town, but definitely a drive. there was lots of parking on the backside of the building and the room was nice size and the cleaning staff being very diligent about getting to the room in the morning versus some hotels who wait all day to clean. i've always been puzzled by the fascination people have with courtyards when Marriott has so much better lower-priced options, this day again reminded me a courtyard is not about nice value, it's about .... uh, I don't know. not nice staff, and residence inn is always much better. read more

Yikes. We booked 4 hotel rooms for an after wedding/skiing outing, and the room given to my father and his wife was occupied at the time of check-in. Instead of letting them know, the staff allowed my father and his wife to enter a room with people already in it... and someone was showering at the time. We had an amazing stay this past weekend. The accommodations were clean and updated. Maid service very thorough. The cafe was nice for breakfast and after dinner drinks. The manager Trace was so accommodating and welcoming. I have stayed here several times and each experience has been equally nice. I always enjoy my stays at The Courtyard. The hotel is comfortable, beds are great, pool and hot tubs just right. The dining area has recently been updated and it appears that more people are actually dining there and enjoying a drink or snack later in the evening. I haven't eaten a meal here but it is nice to know that it is available. read more

A member of the housekeeping staff stole very expensive Beats Headphones from our room. I unpacked the headphones and left them on my desk as I normally do. I left for the day, came back to my room and went to sleep. When I left the next morning and came back that evening, the headphones and their case were missing from my room. I reported this to the front desk and manager working on Monday 5/27/2019 at 10 am and she seemed careless. She told me she would call me back within one hour and never did. I called the hotel to followup that same day around 5:00 pm and spoke to Ivan. Ivan said the housekeeping manager knew of the situation and that he would leave a note to followup with me. As of 5/29/2019, I have not heard from this hotel. I am a Marriott Lifetime Platinum Elite and Titanium Member. I have been loyal to Marriott for almost 12 years and this is how I poorly I was treated. I would like the hotel general manager and Marriott corporate to contact me. read more

As a Marriott platinum member I was very disappointed with the service at this Courtyard. Delayed check-in until 5:30p? Toilet ran 24/7 since we checked in and maintenance did nothing after being called three times. Manager clueless. There are much better places in the area read more

Stayed here for quick stop for work related travel and it was nice. The pool was closed temporarily, but everything else was great.

I have been coming here with my family for a few years during February break. While there are hotels closer to downtown, we prefer to stay here. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel has great open spaces with seating and TVs for you to relax and enjoy time together. I am a big fan of Courtyards for family gathering and this one does not disappoint. read more
