Expect a lot of places to be outdated here in Lake Placid. Good thing Marriott came along and built a Courtyard. It's a bit off the main street and has a weird location but nonetheless, it brings something fresh and new to this once-booming town. What else can I say, it's a Marriott... Oh, and by the way, we like their pool. It's not that big and you really can't go do laps but they have 2 spas. Last visit: 05/08

Hands down the best stay yet! A coworker and I flew in for work on 8/1/17 and only needed a place for the night. The two gentlemen at the desk saw where our work had reserved a one bed room for two males. Laughing at us, they upgraded us to a king suite so we could have some privacy and our own sleeping area. Once to our room we were amazed at the lack of the "hotel/motel" feel. The suite exceeded our expectations. Once we settled in we went out to explore the local area(1980 Winter Olympic Games were held here). The small town was packed with Lax players due to a tournament but it was still very enjoyable. All of the bars and restaurants were filled so we just decided to eat back at the hotel. The bearded bartender at the little restaurant was a wealth of knowledge about the area. He explained aloud about the area making us jealous that we didn't talk to him first. The food we ordered was well above hotel expectations. Overall, I would definitely come back for a personal vacation just to stay here.

Some of the rooms have the most amazing view of the mountains (some, not all). Easy walk into town down a staired pathway.

Terrible policies. Will not book with Marriott again. What a scam. Will be looking for other lodgings no matter where I am visiting.

Stayed here for quick stop for work related travel and it was nice. The pool was closed temporarily, but everything else was great.

After spending a week at this hotel, I have many reasons why I would not recommend it…read more -The tub in our room did not drain properly, so we were standing in our own bathwater while showering. -There's no fan/vent in the bathroom. -The curtains do not open all the way, so you pay a premium for a lake view and cannot really enjoy half of it unless you sit right in front of it or go outside to an uncomfortable bench on a narrow balcony. -Most of the front desk staff was flat and unhelpful. -We asked the host to refill the black tea bags in the free tea/coffee area several times over the course of a few days-she would not do it and would only hand us 1 or 2 tea bags at a time. Is black tea too expensive and that's why the guests only get green tea?? (even though there was black tea days prior). We are paying $274 a night to be here for a week. That's a lot of money to pay to have to ask for black tea. -Very understaffed in the restaurant at night. I felt bad for the staff, they were trying so hard (except the host, she didn't try at all). -I talked to another guest who had lots of complaints and was on her FOURTH room because she kept having to switch due to issues. -The mini-fridge froze like half the food, (and no I did not put it in the freezer section). -Housekeeping was not prompt (would come around 3pm when we were back in the room to work remotely on a different time zone). -One of the self-service washing machines is SO loud you can literally hear it from 2 floors down. -The free kayaking is closed for the season while the other kayak rental in town is still operating...That was not clear when booking. The first day we were there, it was 85 degrees F and lots of people were out kayaking. It would have been nice to know that that wasn't going to be included. So overall, I would not recommend staying here. We wished we had stayed in Saranac Lake, but in Lake Placid there are plenty of other hotels with great views (and maybe the curtains would actually open all the way so you can see it).

It does sit on top of a big hill which could be a challenge for some if they're wanting to walk everywhere. We enjoyed being able to walk everywhere with our pup. The breakfast buffet was surprisingly very good and had a nice variety of options including an omelette station. The gym had older equipment but good enough for a vacation workout. We were very happy with how dog friendly it was and would stay here again!

While we really liked this resort I would not necessarily recommend it those with physical challenges. There are actually 3 separate buildings that compromise the resort. The building we were in had a lot of stairs and no elevator. The "main" building interior is beautiful and there are man made waterfalls out front. The main building does have an elevator but the amenities, like pools, are pretty spaced out and require considerable walking. The room we stayed in beautiful with a wonderful view of the lake and mountains beyond. Of very special note: the Guest Services Manager- Ms Lia Collins- is a truly special person. She went beyond normal policy to help us out when unexpected circumstances caused us to cut our stay short. She treated us with caring and compassion- not just as customers. I highly recommend this hotel - aside from my accessibility comments. In my opinion- if accessibility is an issue for you- that you stay in the main building. Just be aware that there will be some walking. Overall a very nice place to stay!!
