When I was shopping for my wedding dress fabric I was afraid I would have to make a trip up to New York just to shop for fine fabrics. When I found this store I was floored. A fine quality fabric shop in Richmond!! Not only that but Liliya helped me match 5 fabrics I was searching for in under two minutes. When choosing laces she brought me 3 with the exact qualifications I was looking for, all while giving the same level attention to all the other customers in the store. Oh and her button collection? Warms my heart. Her staff is top notch, her cutter is such a lovely person who is incredibly knowledgeable in choosing fabrics while Liliya is in fittings. They ripped me off! I had my bridesmaids dress altered, and when I came to pick it up Lilya had tacked on an extra $45 from what she originally estimated. No one called to tell me or ask if it was ok. They just assumed I would have the money to afford it (which I didn't). I complained and she gave a bunch of excuses and took off a few dollars. Lilya is amazing!! She took my grandmother's dress from the 1950's and updated it for my wedding I had two weeks ago. She was helpful from the start, recommending the dry cleaner to take the dress to and explaining the process. I was able to show her a few quick images from Pinterest on what I liked and after several fittings (5 or so) it was the dress I always wanted! She resized the dress to my frame, added boning into the bodice, and created a boat neck and 3/4 sleeves using the existing lace. She also talked me into including some of the original details that I originally thought I wouldn't like. It truly was amazing and I received so many compliments on how unique the dress looked. Couture By LK Design - Lilya made my wedding dress fit like a glove! - Fabric Stores Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

I went to Couture by LK Design to have a jacket made to wear to a wedding. I selected the fabric and had initial measures done. A few weeks later, I returned for second measurements, and the fabric was to be cut. When I tried the jacket for the first fitting, there were a number of adjustments that were needed. I noticed the back hem was not straight, and it stuck out. I was told it would be taken care of by the next fitting. It was still the same when I returned, and when I mentioned it, Lilya ripped out the thread and re-pinned the hem and then, left the fitting room in a huff. I returned for yet another fitting, and I now realized I was being charged for each visit to find the back hem still not as it should have been. I was informed, at that time, that nothing else could be done. The wedding was imminent, so I took the jacket. I also noticed the hem at the front closing of the jacket did not close as smoothly as it should have. Upon closer examination when I brought the jacket home, I also discovered that excess fabric at the hem of the front closing of the jacket had not been trimmed away as it should have been. Instead, it was tucked into the hem and stitched over. I also found that the texture of the fabric of the back hem felt different. This may have been due to ripping out the thread or pressing it. Even the label was not stitched in straight. I bought another jacket to wear to the wedding, and now, I will need to find someone to fix the mess that was made of the original jacket. read more

I don't know why it is being reported as closed. I was there today, 2/25/2019, and found exactly the buttons I needed for a vest to replace the ones that were on it that I didn't like. I had taken a jacket there a few years ago and also found the perfect buttons to replace the ones I didn't like. I told the person who helped me that YELP had reported it was closed. This is a darling store with beautiful high-end fabrics at fair prices! The owner is just as beautiful and welcoming as her fabrics. We traveled from Alexandria, VA to check out a few independent fabric stores in the Richmond area - unaware of Couture's business hours we arrived a few minutes before closing; none the less, we were welcomed in and told to take our time - we rushed to pick out a few items and although it was now well past closing hours, the owner took the time to show us other fabrics that she thought we would like, she was also kind enough to share a number of helpful tips on how to sew one of the more elaborate fabrics. Couture also has a wonderful selection of trim and buttons - I will definitely make a trip back to shop at this delightful store! read more
