The company Good Goods in Darien, CT is owned by Artee fabric and home-which has an "F" rating by the better business bureau. Please read all reviews before doing business with, or even worse leaving your possessions with them. On December 10, I left 4 suede chair cushions at their shop in Darien in order to have an extra slipcover made for each cushion in a different fabric-which I purchased that day at their good goods store. I was quoted $60 per cushion for labor, with a completion date prior to January 3. The woman then said that if I want the work done-they actually had to charge me DOUBLE the quote-$120 per cushion for labor. I agreed only because she guaranteed the return prior to Jan 3. Fast forward today is January 16. My cushions are nowhere. I've heard multiple excuses, from a "broken delivery truck", to "they will be here next week". I was then assured that they would ship them to my alternate address. The inept store manager will not respond to any further correspondence or provide any shipping or tracking information despite her multiple promises to ship my cushions. This is a shady company to say the least. I'm not the first client to report missing merchandise recently under the watch of the "new and improved" staff. Customer service by the owner ARTI MEHTA and her entire staff is NONEXISTENT. read more

I shopped at Artee Fabrics & Home in Richmond last month to purchase fabric for new throw pillow covers. I provided the person who helped me with the swatches I had previously picked up along with the quantity and dimensions of my pillows. I explained that I do not sew and needed assistance in calculating the fabric needed for a simple envelope cover with a knife edge for all of the above. He made the calculations then set off to cut the fabric. I received the covers back this week from the person I hired to sew them and learned that I was sold double the fabric needed in all three cases. To say I am livid is an understatement. I understand that the person who helped me was providing a service in helping to calculate the fabric needed but if he wasn't able to accurately do so, he should have simply told me that. I would have found someone else who could, touched base with my seamstress or learned online. I feel like I was taken advantage of and subsequently have fabric I don't need and additional $$$ out of pocket that was totally unnecessary. I had chosen to shop at Artee Fabrics & Home rather than purchasing online through Rex Fabrics knowing that the price per yard was significantly higher but I would be supporting a local business. I am seriously disappointed in that decision and will not be returning. read more

Artee Fabrics is glorious! You won't believe their selection of interior and outdoor fabrics until you see it for yourself. I overheard one of the sales ladies on the phone mentioning that they have 2,000 rolls in house. It's like heaven! Take some time to speak with the staff, they are always super helpful and a plethora of knowledge. Not only can they help you with yardage requirements and calculations, they can even have coordinating fabrics manufactured to match any fabric they carry (or you have in mind) for your interior design projects. read more

I recently had three living room chairs reupholstered by Artee. Polly was very helpful in finding me the right fabric after I had tried and failed at other stores. It was a complex job involving a lot of curves and button tufting, and the work was done expertly and promptly. The store's customer service was also excellent. read more

I brought window seat cushions to the Newton, MA location to have covers made as a housewarming gift. I was told it would take 3-4 weeks. I paid half cost as a deposit. When I was supposed to pick it up that they needed more fabric. and, when I dropped it off I asked for clarification on the extra time. The woman in the shop said she couldn't be too specific. First, she had written down the 3-4 weeks time first time. Second, I sew (paid to have it done due to busy schedule) and know how much fabric it would take to effectively complete the task and intentionally give them extra the first time. Their inefficiency cause me unnecessary extra money. Third, she smiled when I asked why they had failed to get it done in the time initially specified as if having a casual conversation. No respect for my time or money! She was rather comfortable with her lack of integrity and lack of professionalism. Certainly will not be doing business with them again. read more

Me and my husband are looking for fabric to do our own curtains we went to this store because we thought they have a lot of options, which they do. We had two different sales persons assisted us through out different trips and they were nice and helpful. However, we bought their blackout curtains and expected it to be 'blackout', it is not. After we address this issue with the store, the manager was out that day and we leave a phone number for she to contact us when she gets back. The store manager called and claimed that their blackout curtain is 99% blackout instead of 100% blackout (that's not what the sales person was told, sales person was as surprise as we are when we inform them that those curtains won't block the sunlight completely). First of all, we have three panels of fabric layered against one another and trim pieces to cover on both edges so it's not like light is creeping in from edges or we don't know what we are talking about, secondly, I don't understand why she trying to argue with us after we try to inform her that there is a misleading of product information here. No apologies, no sorry for your inconvenience, without offer any solutions she just ask in a aggressive tone 'what do you expect here?' No one is trying to scam you lady! We are the one being rip off here, we didn't even ask to refund any of the fabric although we have every right to do so! we stay up couple nights to do measurements and sewing and realized our finish project isn't up to our standards, that's very frustrated for us more than anyone knowing our time and money is wasted! Not to mention we detail explained what we want to achieve (completely blackout) before we make our purchase (sales person even check with the manager at the time). So her confrontational attitude really make us hard to swallow. What a terrible way to treat customer! Basic customer trust went right through the door! Couple things to prepare yourself before visiting that store - expect zero customer service, attitude with wrong product information, wasting money and wasting valuable time. I'll be honest - I did not go into Artee today expecting great customer service. Having been in before, the impression the place gives is that it caters to a certain demographic, and I in my jeans and t-shirt knew going in I didn't look like it. How wrong I was, and how pleasantly surprised I was! Upon entering, I received a cheery hello from a staff member who was helping some other ladies. I browsed uninterrupted for about 15 minutes, whereupon I was approached by a very kind saleslady. I explained my project and showed her some photos of things that are in the room the fabric would be used in, and she was really helpful in showing me options and helping me compare. Ultimately she helped me select a fabric that fit my needs, looked great and happened to be on sale too! I really appreciated the low key approach and the thoughtful assistance I received. I didn't feel rushed, and I didn't feel pressured to buy something I didn't need or want. The selection here really is amazing. Prices range from very reasonable to quite expensive, but it's all very high quality and absolutely gorgeous. The fabric choices range from elegant to bohemian and everything in between. I didn't end up checking it out, but they also apparently have a sale room in the back, which, from my brief glance in the doorway, looked full of great things. Next time I'll definitely take a real look - I'm looking forward to my next opportunity to stop in! read more

Artee used to be Printer's Alley Fabrics. They have a nice selection on fabrics and also have a whole room of discounted fabric and remnants! I have to update my review....after going to Artee today and having a horrible experience, I have to say I will no longer shop there. First no one said hello. Then after waiting 5 mins for someone to ring me up, I went to find someone to help and found two staffers giggling and chatting up a customer. She seemed annoyed with me for interrupting and said someone would help me when they had a chance. When someone finally helped me they didn't even say sorry for the wait. I have always been on the fence about this place since they always seem short staffed, but today was not a staff coverage problem, but a staff politeness problem. read more

It's not very often that I am ignored and treated like a fungus. Won't be going back because the service was shameful. My daughter and I recently visited the store in hopes of getting new drapes. When I inquired about an in-home consultation, the first employee introduced me to the person that does such consultations (Lisa). I was a little surprised by Lisa's underwhelming desire to be helpful, but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt (everyone has bad days, I thought) and I left with an in-home appointment scheduled for a week later. Forward to the day of the appointment when my appointment time came a went without any signs of Lisa. As I am walking out the door to return the samples I had borrowed, Lisa calls to confirm that she will be at my house during the afternoon. When I expressed my frustration over her incorrect time, she became very defensive as opposed to apologetic about her mistake (I do know that I had the correct time since my daughter was there with me and witnessed me making the appointment). Let's just say that I will not be giving Artee any business. Good customer service seems hard to find these days, but Lisa's attitude was completely unacceptable. read more

The first time I went in was by myself, just looking and touching and generally getting a feel for the shop. I did purchase something and let the staff know I'd be back. And I did come back, with my sister, her 10 year old son, and my mother less than two weeks later. We looked, touched, browsed and when it was time to ask a salesperson a question (in the discount room, my sister had a question on pricing) the salesperson standing not three feet away from her continued to have her conversation with another person about a deliveryman, completely ignoring us... Hello? Customer service? None to be had from that particular person. Don't know her name but I will not be shopping there any more. The other person who cut our fabric selection was wonderful but it was a damn shame to be treated like a non-entity. read more

One employee at front desk, I the only customer. She couldn't be bothered to offer any assistance after I waited a good long while for her to wrap up her personal call to help. When I asked for help, she was very rude and condescending and told me she was the only one on duty and didn't have time to help me and walked away. Artee has an excellent selection of fabric choices and Margie knows how to pull them together to create a stylish look that will please any customer. She has excellent taste, does a wonderful job with color and makes wonderful suggestions. From a re-upholstered sofa to chairs, recovered bar stools to window valances and custom and inexpensive pillows, the look was perfect for us. Service was superior and attentive. Horribly rude. I came to Artee looking for fabrics with my mother and she walked out disgusted that we had been ignored throughout our entire visit. Like other reviewers said, they sat around chatting and refused to help us. When we left my mom said "I have never experienced such awful customer service in my life." We happily found better fabrics and customer service at another retailer. read more

I was so surprised to come across these reviews describing the same experiences I have had. I love their fabrics, but I am frequently ignored while the manager and others chat up the decorators whom they seem to know personally. I'm sure the decorators spend big bucks but that's no reason to treat other customers as if they don't exist. I just don't get it. I can even be standing at the counter ready to make a purchase and they continue to have personal conversations with their buddies without even making eye contact with me. Exact same review as everyone else- amazing selection and great discount room but horrible customer service! The lack of acknowledgment that I was even there (for 15 minutes) turned me off so much that I walked out without even buying a single thing.
