I took my wedding dress here that needed quite a lot of work done to it. I bought it off the rack, so it needed to get fitted to my body. On top of that, there were holes in the mesh back from previous people trying it on, that required repair. Jenny worked on my dress for about 3 months, and she did an amazing job. The dress fit perfectly in the end, and she fixed the back with such perfection, you couldn't even tell that a repair had been made. The front area of my dress was pretty tricky due to all of the beading and it being so large on me, but Jenny has such talent, that she was able to do her magic and make it work. One thing I appreciated is that when she took the sides of the dress it, she did not cut any fabric away, only overlapped it. So, in the off chance that I needed the dress to be adjusted again closer to my wedding date, she would be able to fix it. Jenny is truly so talented, I am so happy I took my dress here! read more

Great fitting on my wedding gowns for a very reasonable price! Jenny also made two beautiful bustles.

I've been going to Jenny for nearly a decade for all my tailoring need from jeans to evening gowns (I've been a maid of honor 4x and Jenny has tailored every dress). So when it came time to do my wedding dress, there was only one person I'd go to. Jenny did an amazing job doing the alterations and bustle on my wedding dress and at an incredibly fair price! (My tailoring was literally a quarter of what my friend paid for her dress tailoring in 2021). Jenny even did an awesome under-bustle so that my giant train could be hidden under the dress so I could dance (vs. a french bustle which is more common but where I would've had a ton of fabric sitting on my butt). I brought my bridesmaid dress to Jenny for alterations. She did a wonderful job not only hemming but tailoring the bodice to me. Her prices are very reasonable and she does great work. When I went to pick up my dress, I felt the hem needed to be a little shorter, and Jenny did it without charging extra. I recommend to anyone who needs a formal attire to be altered to give Jenny plenty of time (ie a couple weeks). I brought many blazers and a pair of slacks in for hemming. Jenny showed me why it was a complicated job (buttons on the sleeves), but she quoted me a price better than the other 10 places I called. And she got everything back to me in a week, as opposed to a month+ like the other places quoted me! This woman is BUSY, but she had everything ready when she said, for a great price. I needed to have a pair of unlined work pants shortened. The owner lady (Jenny I assume?) wasn't the friendliest, but she did a good job. It cost $10 and they were ready to pick up in 3 days. Store is clean and there's a proper dressing room to try on your item. Parking can be surprisingly busy, as the store is in the back of the same area as McDonald's and Dominos pizza. read more

I'm reading some of the bad reviews on Yelp and I absolutely do not agree. Jenny was incredible! I had 6 weeks to get my wedding dress altered and she said she will get it done for me. She had me come by twice in between the 6 weeks to make sure the changes she made were agreeable (even during her closing hours because of my unfortunate work schedule). She hemmed my dress, took an inch in on my waist and hip, added bra cups, added 2 bustles to pin up my long train (one bustle was for walking and the higher one for dancing) and made my dress straps adjustable so that it'd be more comfortable for me throughout my wedding day. The hemming was perfect! Her recommendations were perfect! She made that stressful part of wedding planning easy and I'm very happy I went there. read more

I've been coming here to get my alteration needs for years. Jenny is usually really sweet and does a great job but today?! I've never been so annoyed! First off, I came in on Wednesday to get my bathing suit straps shortened for an upcoming trip. She asked me if I wanted to try it on. I said no because I was tired. She asked if I was sure and said yes. She responded rudely "okay if I mess it up, it's not my fault." *eye rolls* I knew what I wanted and how much to cut off. She was very unpleasant that day. She quoted me $10 and to pick up on Saturday. Today, the day I came to pick it up, I walked in and she says "crap I didn't work on it." Basically it's been sitting on her freaking counter since Wednesday! I was so irritated and said I'll come by to pick it up on Monday but she said she would work on it now. I decided to stay in the area and called to see if she can work on it. She tells me she's eating and to come back in 15 mins. Fine, I can just go grab something to eat. I come back 30 mins later and she made small talk and asked where I ate and said she'll charge me $7. I should've looked at it before I left because when I got home, I noticed one side of the strap was totally messed up! The seam where she cut was facing up! Wtf?! I am so irritated. I'll just have to go on my trip with F up looking straps and worry about correcting it when I get home... elsewhere! I will post photos later. read more

The tailoring is excellent and Jenny goes above and beyond to take care of her customers. Whether it's gowns, dresses, suits or jeans, the fit is always perfect and done on time. I just had a dress altered and couldn't get to her shop before close because of a meeting that ran long. Jenny met me there, after hours, so I could get my dress and fly to a wedding the next day. I took a microfiber sports jacket in for sleeve alteration. After getting home, I noticed the stitching was badly puckered. I returned the garment for "adjustment" only to be told the the stitching was fine and the sleeves just needed to be ironed. I disagreed and asked for my money back so I could take the garment elsewhere to have it fixed. She told me she could not return my money and only then agreed to restitch the sleeves. Talk about attitude ... Advice: Check her work before you leave her shop. If you're not satisfied with it, don't let her hornswoggle you. I'm regretting I ever went to her shop. The next time, I won't. BTW: She prefers cash up front. She will take CC's but only if you pay a healthy [for me - 20%] surcharge. read more

My experience here was a disaster. I had the gal hem and bustle my wedding gown for $120. Upon picking it up, the bustle was crooked and the lady just didn't want to listen to what I wanted (an even floor-length across the dress), she argued back saying "she knows what she's doing" in her thick Vietnamese accent. I changed, then ran out with the dress in tears. Literally - it was the most traumatic part of wedding planning. I felt so insulted and taken that I just called the fiance from the car sobbing. Of course, I didn't have time to fix the dress or take it anywhere else before the wedding (my fault), so sure enough, on my wedding night, the bustle got caught dragging and it came undone 10 minutes into the reception. I had a lop-sided dress all night thanks to the bad alterations. It shows in all the photos, but in the end, I accepted that because I didn't take it elsewhere to get it fixed. If I can say anything - wedding dress or not - she doesn't deserve more business! read more

I fully recommend Elegant Designs for dress alterations. Jenny was very easy to work with and she was able to alter my bridesmaid gown in less than a week. The store that my gown came from had quoted me upwards of $80-$100 depending on the type of alterations. I had also checked out two additional alteration shops, and they both quoted me around $80 - $100. I called Elegant Designs and arranged for my dress to be altered. I stopped in with my dress and shoes, and I was quoted at a more affordable rate. Jenny was very professional and saw that my dress had, not 2, but 4 layers to alter; but insisted that it could be done in a week. She called a week later, I tried on my dress (with shoes on), and the alterations were beautifully done. From my understanding, Jenny works with only one other seamstress, which is amazing judging by the turnaround that many positive reviews stated. The store I had purchased my gown from recommended to get my dress altered at least a month before my event, and the reason is so that there is time for when any improvements need to be made to the alteration. Arranging for alterations 3 weeks before the wedding was cutting it very close, but Jenny made it happen! I told her that she had many positive reviews for her store, and she was very humble about it. In fact, she was very kind and helpful to me, which put me at ease. Thanks Jenny!!! read more

I do not recommend this place. Although they did not ruin my dress, they just didn't really do much, and what they did do looked poorly done. I took a bridesmaid dress here and was a little surprised when a bottom hem and strap shorten came out to $70. I was trying a new place and figured I'd give it a try. I came back to pick it up weeks later (which I thought was strange they needed so much time) and didn't think it looked good but I paid and left. I came back today because the hem is not only too long but totally uneven and the straps look awful. They just folded it over and sewed a seam on top, it's a thing strap and now looks super bulky. I came back today and willingly expressed I know I was fine with it last week but when I got home I felt really unhappy with the product. I don't want a full refund because I acknowledge they did do work on it, but I wanted at least half back for the unfinished work. After claiming it was simply that she steamed it, running out of checks, and not having cash on hand in currently waiting for the owner to arrive for my refund. At this point Jenny has claimed she got yelled at on the phone, informed me that she's been talking to her sister in the back and it's my fault for leaving last week, and most recent it's my fault I don't have the credit card to refund to. Quite honestly I don't trust them to run my credit card again. The good news is my dress can be fixed, the bad news this place isn't good, I have to take my dress elsewhere and this lady is rude AF. I do not recommend this place for any type of alteration. read more

She gave incredibly horrible service. As soon as my husband and I walked in, no one was there so we rang the bell provided. She came out and said "did you ring the bell?" with an immense amount of attitude. We showed her the pants we were looking to get altered and she began complaining saying it was going to be a lot of work considering how thick the jeans are and began raising her voice in order to "prove" her point. We decided to take our business else where so I can't comment on the quality of her work but overall, I wouldn't recommend her to any of my family or friends considering how rude she was. Jenny was absolutely amazing! i bought a (non returnable) secondhand dress in April for my wedding, and found out shortly after that i am expecting and this dress would need to be let out more than we originally believed. the dress store recommended a seamstress and they wanted almost $1000 to add a corset back to my dress. i found Jenny's shop and she had me come in right away to consult about what to do. She said she could let the dress out and match the fabric and nobody would be able to tell the difference, and she did it! she did an incredible job and i loved how the dress looked on my big day. she charged me a fraction of what the first shop wanted and didn't want to accept my tip when it came time to pick up the dress. the details she added made it impossible to tell that the dress had been changed in any way. she matched the fabric and lace detailing so well. it fit wonderfully and i will be going back to her for any other alterations i need in the future, as well as recommending her to anyone i know that needs an alteration! Since I live out of state, she was able to work with my schedule for whenever I was in town and would give me a call as to her updates with it. They get one star because the alterations were done nicely. They get the second star because she did alterations on a bridesmaids dress and another dress in 4 days. And that's where the good stuff ends. When I went to pick up my dresses from Jenny, the owner, I tried my bridesmaids dress on and noticed there was an oil spot on it. (This was right after she announced to me she was charging me $7 more on top of the RIDICULOUSNESS $75 I had already paid her because the sun dress she hemmed for me and two layers.) She claimed she had no idea how that had happened and insinuated that perhaps I had brought it in like that (I hadn't. It had never been out of its plastic bag.). She was gone for about 10 minutes. When she finally came back out she said I would have to come back tomorrow because she was going to take it to the dry cleaners and she had no idea how anything could have gotten on the dress. I told her I couldn't come back tomorrow because I was leaving right then for the wedding. She then proceeded to YELL at me and SCOLD me because I waited until the last minute! WHAT the WHAT? YOU get stuff on my dress and you are going to yell at me. I told her to give me my dress and that I wouldn't be paying her a cent more. I then had to find a dry cleaner in a city I don't live in to dry clean and steam my dress and hope they could get the stain caused by JENNY out. Lucky for me I found such a person and they also kindly pointed out an even larger stain on the back of the dress. You know we all make mistakes and sometimes things happen. Had she been nice about the whole thing, apologized or even offered to return a portion of my money I would have probably given her 5 stars. The fact that she took no responsibility, badgered a paying customer and was plain rude means I won't ever go there again, I made sure to write this review and I will discourage everyone I know from going there. read more
