Cove Grooming is one of Marin's best kept secrets. So much so that I debated writing a review for fear that Cove will become as popular as it deserves to be. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Mary Elizabeth in particular is wonderful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We brought our dog here when she was just a puppy and have been coming ever since. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our dog gets excited to see Mary Elizabeth every time, running into the lobby to greet her.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Mary Elizabeth was beyond patient as our dog went through the various stages of puppyhood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The space is adorable and has a wonderful area for dogs to get their post bath zoomies out. Instead of cages for dogs to be stored in after being groomed, there are pens which make the space feel warm and gentle. This review is for Mary Elizabeth only! I was referred to this shop and made an appointment which was December 11,2025 I met Mary Elizabeth and stated I only wanted a trim! It is winter and I keep her hair longer. My dog got shaved and I was in shock when I picked her up. In the 10 years of grooming my Maltese has never looked like that. She had less hair on her ears than when she was 8 weeks. Today is February 18, 2026 and I still am having problems as her ear hair as not come back and we are just getting around to thinking about a trim. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I did report this to the owner Paul but it never went anywhere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have decided after this length of time I needed to report this as my schedule has been groom once a month and I still am looking at maybe a week or two. Her excuse was mats but the whole time I spoke with her she was rubbing her hands through her hair. Never once did she mention mats and in fact she quoted my price that was for no mats. This review is for Paul and Natasha--[[HIGHLIGHT]]Paul (the owner) has been very kind and accommodating; I have two small dogs and he's been really helpful about scheduling since I rarely need two full appointments.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And Natasha is just the best--she takes the time to calm the dogs down, gives them massages and makes sure they're comfortable, and does a great job with the groom itself as well--after the first time I took my schnauzer/dox mix there, she mentioned he doesn't like the blow dryer, so she towel dried him instead (so thoughtful!). Her space is clean and there are never really other dogs there; the environment is as peaceful as you get at a groomer. We just moved back to Sausalito recently and I've taken my little 4 lb yorkie to get groomed there twice so far. Both times they've done an amazing job. Sara just did her and I am thrilled ! Our puppy broke her leg a little over a month ago and Sara was very kind and listened. She seemed very warm, and I could tell my puppy was in good hands. I've been taking my doodle Rocky to Natasha at Cove Grooming for over a year, and both Rocky and I are very happy. Natasha is exceptionally gentle and works to the dog's comfort level; for example, she suggested we skip blow-drying Rocky since the dryer makes her nervous. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ever since making this change, Rocky actually pulls into Cove to see Natasha versus running away like she's done from other grooming locations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Natasha works on one dog at a time and doesn't rush, which means the dogs are never in an uncomfortable position or left tied up. Natasha prioritizes dogs' physical and psychological comfort and safety, so you can feel confident entrusting your baby to her. And she gives a wonderful haircut as well! read more

I've been taking my dog there for several years and Natasha is wonderful with Alfie.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love that they don't crate the dogs in between grooms and instead have nice little pet suites for them. Plus an amazing backyard for them to get some sunshine if they need to be let out! Natasha is so great with Alfie and he always comes back well groomed and happy. I brought my chihuahua to Cove Grooming for a bath a few months ago. When I picked him up he was coughing and gagging all the way home and continued the rest of the day. I went back to Cove the next day to find out what they used to groom him. Another groomer was there and she referred to the grooming station as a "torture chamber" and she brought me to the back to show me. I found a bungee cord hanging like a noose, used to hold the dogs' heads while they're bathed. The bungee cord didn't hang low enough to safely reach down to my dog's neck without it choking him. I brought my dog to the vet, still coughing and gagging, and was told that he has the symptoms of a collapsed trachea. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the owner of Cove Grooming and he told me they didn't have or use a bungee cord on dogs. He lied.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I took and have video of my entire tour of the "torture chamber", paying special attention to the bungee cord, clearly not nearly low enough for my 7 lb dog. Unfortunately I was in the midst of moving due to a personal tragedy and I didn't have the wherewithal to follow up. Several months later my dog still has coughing and gagging episodes several times a day. I've wanted to travel and bring my dog with me but I've learned it's not safe for a dog with a collapsed trachea, or even partially collapsed, to fly, FYI. read more

We can't say enough wonderful things about this place! Matthew is awesome with our cocker spaniel - whether it's a full grooming or simply a bath, our Ralphie always looks AND smells delicious (yes, I said delicious LOL). Matt is kind, warm, and patient, and I'm just so sorry that it's taken me so long to write this review! Cove Daycare has also been heaven-sent to plenty of very busy (pet) parents like us, and we are sad to hear they've closed this part of their business. Sure hope Cove Grooming sticks around! Truly caring place. It's so wonderful that it's not packed full like an industrial scale washing operation. I've been really happy with how happy my dog has been there. We have just moved to the area with two bernedoodles and took them here for a full groom. Jesus did an amazing job on our guys and both came out super happy; so much so that when we walked by the next day they tried to go back in!
