While there are many places in San Diego that do lymphatic drainage sessions, most use only manual lymph techniques, which yields detox results that are average at best. I have been to Cove about 4 times in the last 2 months and oh my lord let me tell you about this oxygen facial. Danielle and Lisa are both incredibly knowledgeable about every step of the process and you can tell each part is well thought out and is optimized for the best results. I have noticed several benefits that actually have LASTED from this facial. 1) Personally, I have extremely dry skin (like Joshua Tree in August dry). It is now three days after my facial and my skin is hydrated, soft, clear, and glowing. The oils and the oxygen truly did penetrate my skin and make a difference. My makeup went on way smoother as well. 2) The cupping blew my mind. We did one half of my face first and Danielle showed me the side by side, and the difference was extreme. It looked like i had gotten a face lift (yes really.) My smile line and forehead lines were completely gone and my cheek was lifted and photoshop-esque. Let me start with this. GROUPONS. We love them, and I get a lot of them, including Living Social, Zozi, etc. I have purchased so many in fact, I have learned a few KEY musts when using them. I shall share them at the beginning of all Groupon based reviews going forward. 1) KNOW that wherever you are getting your Groupon from is about to get slammed with Groupon purchasers. 2) Knowing this, check the expiration date before buying, and plan to use it in the 2nd half of it's "shelf life". 3) If appointments are required prior to redeeming said Groupon, WAIT three-five days (seriously) before calling. If an online system is available, USE it. These can still need a human to call you back though, so again, be patient. 4) When it comes time to write your Yelp review (as I have found many Yelpers are Groupon/Living Social users too) do not base the ENTIRE star system rating on your Groupon experience. Why? It's completely graded on a curve. A bad curve. It's an influx of customers the store/company/etc is completely unused to in almost every case. I feel they all get slammed and their review rating plunges to low depths it has never seen before. *** Now onto my personal review at Cove Wellness Spa..... First off, I don't feel it's exactly a "spa" so to speak, but more of a detoxification spa, or detoxification center. However you want to call it. Building Facilities: It's on the 2nd level off a quiet building with underground parking (nice) and has a cute courtyard garden when you come out the elevator (unusual yet relaxing). Inside upon entering is a small, yet simple waiting room. On the wall are shelves offering cleaning and nutritional supplements, as well as pamphlets and information sheets on cleansing, detoxification, etc. It reminded me of my Natropathic Doctor's office on O'ahu, especially with the courtyard garden thing going on. As someone who is a Professional Organizer/Interior Designer I would not consider Cove Wellness Spa "cluttered". In fact, I found it to be pretty ok for a Detox Spa, with only a few design elements I would do differently. Only because it's what I do and I can't help but look for something to improve wherever I go! Services Performed: I purchased a Groupon for a Colonic and this was my first time here. It was not my first time getting a colonic. I have had oh, probably nine colonics in the last six years. So I ain't a beginner here. Haha. The girl who gave me the colonic was very sweet, and when I asked how long she had been performing colonics, she said ( I think) six years. That's a long time, and I was pleasantly surprised, as often a "spa" has people on the front end of their career it seems is usually the case. I've had some amazing colonics, in Australia, Hawai'i, Colorado, and California. She was right up to par with the best ones. It really does make a difference when going to a beginner, or someone who has 5+ years experience. She performed the entire procedure well and had the vibrator machine for my belly for at least 50% of the time. She clearly knew her way around the machine/technique as I had some great eliminations. The room was nice with a sliding door with curtains, allowing a pleasant breeze during the hour I was there. I think I was the last client of the day (it was a Friday at 6pm), as it was pretty quiet, which added to my experience. I recommend later in the evening for that reason. They had all the necessities I expect to be at a colonic facility, including a discreet passage to the restroom. The experience continued after my appointment though, and one of the reasons I will definitely return...it's right by the beach! So afterwards I went out to a healthy dinner with a friend who lives nearby. We even got gluten-free cupcakes nearby (which is in another review I need to write!). So yeah, MY five star review is based on: +1- I got a Groupon so I scored a deal. It's a win win no matter what. +1-They had underground parking which was awesome, and a time saver as going ANYWHERE in La Jolla involves parking anxiety for me, and I am always running late (working on this!). +1-The building was nice, clean, had a courtyard garden, and was like my natropath's office. Did not seem cluttered at all. +1- I got a colonic, so my tracts are clean, It's a win win no matter what. Plus the girl was a 5+ year colon hydrotherapist (had to look that one up, ha!) so I felt it was even worth a full price repeat appointment. +1- It was near the beach so I could get a healthy oceanside dinner with a friend after. Huge disappointment !! I visited this spa for a coffee colonic being reassured that being on a light food Diet and clear liquids would be beneficial turnabout this was a huge waste of time and money. The "new" machine didn't seem to be operating correctly unless of course having to hold up the tube with your hands and shaking the air bubbles is standard operating procedure. very frustrated and I do not recommend this place to anyone. It was obvious that the cupping process is what they try to push since that is twice the cost of a colonics. read more

I purchased a 60 minute hot stone massage from Groupon. I called to book my appointment & it took about two weeks to get in which wasn't bad. I arrived for my appointment at 11:05 & was asked to fill out a new client form. The massage started at 11:15. The therapist did a decent job. The only problem was that when I looked at the clock once my massage was done, it was only 11:55. They scammed me out of 20 minutes! I called back a half an hour later because I realized that I hadn't given them my Groupon code. I also questioned why the massage was only 40 minutes. No one returned my call. I had to contact Groupon to take it up with them. Cove Wellness didn't offer anything to make up for the "false advertisement & length of service." I got a deal on groupon for a "cellulite reduction treatment" for $59. I'll start with the pros first. I did feel better after the treatment, i didn't really notice any reduction in cellulite, but i imagine that you need to combine with exercise as well as multiple treatments, and the treatment did not hurt at all. The place is small, but it looks clean. Now, the reason why i am giving a two is because when I went, I had to wait like 40 minutes for my treatment, and I was already like 5 minutes late trying to find parking. (Downtown La Jolla area) I don't mind waiting, but apparently she was on her lunch or something, which I thought was pretty unprofessional since i had waited so long and she didn't even give me a "car problems" excuse or "another client" excuse. Another person was there and i was told to just strip down and wait in a bed, while waiting. The person who did my service herself was nice and chatty and i could tell she was very passionate about her work, but I noticed that every once and a while while she was talking, she would sort of stop moving the machine a little (in an unintentional way) from i guess multitasking, but it wasn't a huge deal. Then i got to show someone my tatas for free, since as I was getting up to dress, i guess she left one of the doors open and someone happened to be coming out of the bathroom and could see me across the room. I don't get overlyembarassed about that, but it wasn't ideal. The 2nd time I went, was much much better. I had Julia, who wasn't as chatty as the 1st, but I liked it too as it was more calming. I dont know what the big stink is about-- I had an awesome experience here. My bf had bought me a Groupon for a hot stone massage. I decided to wait a couple months before cashing in.. I know how busy the Groupon places get right at the beginning of the deal. So I made an appt, parked right in their downstairs lot, filled out some paperwork, and was on my way. My cmt was amaze-balls!! i think i fell asleep at one point. The ONLY complaint was that the room was verging on the bad side of warm.. the window was open, but there was no breeze and the thermostat wasn't set low enough for my comfort level. Of course, I do tend to run kinda hot ;) But seriously, i was kinda sticky from the humidity. Not awesome. Next time I'm requesting the room cooled right from the get go. read more

They are wonderful! I was so comfortable with the therapists, they're so warm and caring. The website does say they are open Sundays, but they're definitely not. Only one complaint... I bought a series of several services... and didn't realize that when I went for the last one, it had expired... so they would only honor it for half-price and made me pay cash for the other half, which I didn't think was fair... considering they already had my money, they should have honored it and not insisted I pay anymore money than I already had. Words cannot explain just how wonderful and amazing this spa is. I went in for some information, 3 hrs later I'm so relaxed and happy! I have always had bowel issues and I have had colon cleansing done before, but this one was way more comfortable. Then I went into the jade sauna, and that made me sweat out a bunch of toxins. Last but not least, I had a cupping session. I lost an inch off my waist, half inch off my hips and my back pain is gone. I came in last week to use my Living Social Deal and was very impressed! I was a bit hesitant because it was my first time doing a colon cleanse but Lisa, the owner, was very knowledgeable, a joy to talk to and quickly put me at ease. I was lucky to have her as my therapist and we chatted about the many benefits to this practice. The environment at the spa is welcoming and soothing. I am happy that I felt this way because I want to continue the treatment and with this experience I am actually looking forward to going back! Was a bit hesitant at first, as I had very little knowledge on medi cupping rather than the conventional lymphatic manual massage. Made an appointment for a massage, but this was different than other massages I've had. They said it was something like an orthopedic massage. She focused on different areas on me than she did on my husband, based on what we needed. It was possibly the best massage I've ever had. Different, not as relaxing during the massage as some areas were sore and she had to work certain areas, but it helped my back so much! Even a shoulder injury from years ago felt different! I had a GROUPON that I had to use up by May 15th so decided to go when on Easter break. It was not hard to find and parking is a challenege but I parked farther away and walked in. Easy Peasy. I was greeted by Lisa the receptionist and offered cool water. The place is small but calming with music and decor. I was fifteen minutes early and had to fill in a form which is typical. I was then greeted by Byron ( was not expecting a male massuse) so that was a little unexpected. But he was very professional and WONDERFUL..I was really IMPRESSED! He has been there for a year. He did the hot stone therapy which I had never had before. He integrated it into the massage of the back, arms, and legs front and back. WOW,..It felt heavenly. I would periodically ask him questions and he would provide clarity and information as to what was happening with my body. Personally, I did not share the same expereinces that the other yelpers have posted below. From their posts I was kind of expecting the worse but instead was pleasantly surprised. Lisa was so helpful with explaining the services available and benefits of each. The spa was very inviting and relaxing. I felt so comfortable the entire time. I chose to try the package with 3 services, lymphatic treatment + coffee colonic + jade sauna. It was AMAZING!!! Lisa answered all of my questions about the procedures and more. All of the services happened one right after the other so there was no down time, but it was in no way rushed. The sauna was by far my favorite part of the series. I laid in the jade stone sauna for 30 minutes, sweating within 2 minutes and continuing after it ended which helped tremendously in the detox process. This was my first experience at Cove Wellness Spa. I came in for a colonic as part of a Living Social deal. I had no issues making the appt as I made an appt for just a few days after I called. It was my second colonic I've gotten and it was by far a better experience than my first. Lisa, the owner and the one who gave my colonic, was friendly and extremely knowledgeable on colonics and holistic health in general. The room was very set up in a way that made the colonic seem more comfortable than my previous one. The office entry way, colonic room and bathroom were all very clean and tidy. Best European Spa Experience!! So Lucky to have access to this gem in the heart of La Jolla. I went in to have a facial by Elizabeth post op from a facelift. She was wonderful!! I had a special 2 hour Lymphatic facial that was recommended. The results were not short of amazing!!! I was still pretty swollen and tender 5 mos. after surgery which is typical. After just one treatment the soreness was substantially gone!! I was thrilled! The swollen parts of my face have gone down too. So hey this is a very good thing ....so naturally I purchased a series!! I very much appreciate the staff at Cove Wellness they are well trained and dedicated to health and beauty. This place used to be good but not anymore the owner-manager Lisa is a mean rude old lady who has a chip on her shoulder, she doesn't know how to treat people, and about 10 of the reviews here on Yelp say the exact same thing , the first few years that I went there 2006/2007 everything was fine but I guess she's in financial problems and she takes it out on the people that come into her business, So the last time I was in there she was just so cold and so moody I was really turned off it was like a 180 experience different than what I had experienced in the past, I noticed that Yelp is now hiding honest reviews and this particular business throws up a lot of fake reviews if you've ever used Yelp before you know that a fake review is where the person only has one review and I've never done any other reviews and the businesses will usually throw a bunch of those up or they have their employees threw up a bunch of fake reviews also to drowned out the real reviews and then Yelp does a new thing or they if they get money from a business , they take the one star reviews/ (Real reviews) and they will hide them so the public will have a hard time finding the real reviews and then we will have to read a bunch of fake reviews about the business this is what Yelp does nowadays...... read more

I visited this wellness center and had the most relaxing and rejuvenating massage, by Maria. I asked her for a deep tissue/sports massage, and she delivered exactly what I needed. In fact, it was so relaxing that I fell asleep a few times... Her energy and demeanor were so peaceful, that I felt at ease immediately, and was able to settle right in my first time here. And, based on this visit, I would return for more treatments! The location is convenient, being right in La Jolla Village on Ivanhoe Ave-near Prospect, and reasonably priced parking is available right under the building if you can't find the 2 hour free parking on the street. The space is clean, comfortable, and uncluttered, which helps the atmosphere of relaxation. Everyone in the office is pleasant; very helpful and friendly. The building itself ("El Patio" building) is well kept, and there is a lovely fountain in the center of the courtyard that adds to its charm, and peaceful feeling. The owner/operator, Lisa, is a very friendly and knowledgeable resource. When I asked her about the other services they provide, I was surprised to learn of all the different things they do there. I was intrigued by the variety of services (including colon hydrotherapy, electro lymphatic therapy, Jade Infrared Sauna, Lymphatic Oxygen Facials, etc.) and will likely be trying a few over the next several months. It is impressive that Cove Wellness has been in this business in La Jolla for over 20 years, and I am sure that is a testament to the service they provide. If you are in town for a wedding or a relaxing vacation, I highly recommend this place for a massage, and although I haven't experienced one, yet, the Lymphatic Oxygen Facial sounds amazing!
