Our initial inquiry was sent on a Saturday, but the owner, Ruy Barbosa, replied within an hour. He met us the following workday to go over our needs and discussed various options. He projected confidence at being able to renovate our deck yet maintain its overall look. He was willing to work with us and the city's historic commission to preserve some key features of the deck. During the course of the work, Ruy and his staff were responsive to questions or changes that we requested. Communication with them was great. They were eager to please us and found ways to make the project stay on-time and within budget, even when curve balls were thrown at them. Overall, they renovated our dilapidated deck boards with composite flooring. They removed heavy railings and pillars, completely overhauled the structural supports, installed the composite flooring and finally replaced the railings & pillars. Additionally, we had them pressure wash and paint the deck. The cost associated with the structural supports and flooring was very much in line with what we believed was reasonable. We liked their work so much that they have also redone our rear porch & steps. Currently we are waiting on estimates for three more home projects. Before and after photos attached

Brutal experience with them back in 2022-2024. Would take weeks and, more than once, even months…read moreto get them to come back and do any work (see screenshots of my text interactions with them -- note the dates). They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

Stan came over, saw my situation and right away knew exactly what I want. He saw that it was very narrow and said he can make it a little wider. While he was there, I mentioned that I want to have my foundation wall finished with stucco. He told me he has a guy who can do that too. Well, I got a couple of other quotes from others and I knew after that Stan was the right guy for the job. His numbers are very reasonable and I can tell he knew what he was doing. While looking for a company to come out and install an enclosed backyard fence for our dog, most…read morecontractors were leery about installing posts in the steep setting. We were disappointed several times between no-shows and bids with significant compromises. Luckily, we called Joe, who was comfortable doing around 60% of a fence install on hills. Joe expertly installed 300 feet of mixed chain link and vinyl fence, which alternatively blends into the background in the woods or stands proud next to the house. It looks fantastic, and we're thrilled with the result. (And so's our dog.) Give Joe a call. He'll likely be able to help on a flat yard or even something that better approximates a cliff.

We just sold our house and were reminiscing on all that has happened here and this incident was discussed. At that time, I was young, and my mother (a single mother) was doing a major renovation to our attic, creating a third floor and adding 4 rooms and a dormer. She hired Bill Moore for the job and it started off fairly well. The dormer was done, and the rough framework for the stairs and rooms was assembled. He had all the drywall delivered and put up, (not mudded or sanded) and then DeckMasters never returned to the job site and would not return phone calls. He manipulated my mother into taking out the permits in her name, had her pay most of the costs upfront, and abandoned the job site not completing the work she had paid for. We had to pull in additional contractors and the job took 4x as long as originally estimated. If my mother went after him we would have had to pay legal fees and at that time, especially in the middle of an addition, that was not feasible.

After multiple attempts at getting projects finished even providing lists, sticky notes on all issues throughout the home and multiple conversations, he made excuses for his shoddy work. If I asked about why something was done a particular way, he would say my husband directed him to do it that way. If my husband asked him, he would blame me. If we both confronted him, he blamed his helper. Weeks later and I am still cleaning paint splatters off of my wood floors and furniture. He ruined a pair of my husband's pants with paint and instead of being honest with us about it, he stole them, threw them out and claimed it was his helper that took them because his helper got paint on them. I am still cleaning up paint from the new trim work that he installed and all of my light fixtures from where he did horrible cut in work! I have new doors that are broken and were installed broken. I have nails sticking out of the new trim that he installed that he never countersunk. I have streaks in my ceiling where he tried to get away with a thin layer of paint instead of properly painting the ceiling with two coats or at least a coat of Kilz to cover any water spots from a previous roof leak. I have to hire someone to come in and clean up a patch job that he failed to do properly. I still have nail holes in my trim that I am having to fill and repaint myself. All of these items where things he was paid to do. Not to mention the 10+ hours of painting I did to help him catch up. He also threatened that if my husband did not pay him the full amount he felt he was due, he would place a lien on our property. He knows that his work was shoddy but he also knew we were trying to sell our property and a lien would have prevented that. I will be happy to provide photos to anyone that would like to see the "quality" of work that he does.
