We weren't happy with them. They would come to us a few weeks before renewal time and bombard us with renewal information and need everything returned to them in a rush; they would fail to terminate coverage for employees who left and we wouldn't realize until months later; etc. A year ago I decided we were going to switch insurance agents. I knew it would be a bit of a hassle because of how much stuff flowed through our insurance agent, but I felt the long-term benefit of having a better insurance agent would be worth the short-term hassle. After some research I opted to move over to Aaron and Preferred Insurance. My goodness. What a difference. When we switched, ALL I wanted was an agent who would do the basics competently--send us renewal information more than a few weeks in advance, follow up with insurance companies to make sure terminated employees really were terminated. This is going to sound like hyperbole, but it's actually an understatement--I am blown away by the level of service we've received. Aaron is closer to an HR manager (whom we don't pay) than just an insurance agent. Before, our prior insurance agent just got us our plans and it was up to me to get employees enrolled, keep track of premiums, get employees canceled, etc. Now, when we have a new hire, I simply give Aaron their contact information and he does everything--walks them through their options, helps with their applications, gets them enrolled, and sends me the information about their plans and deductions. Switching to Aaron and Preferred Insurance was easily one of the best business decisions we've ever made. They're not only hyper-competent and super-reliable at doing the things you expect an insurance agent to do, but they go above and beyond, which in our case, has allowed me to recapture time that I can put towards improving and growing the business.
