Bought a used 2019 Ford F-150 from Covina Volkswagen in California on 11/1/25 with an Ally warranty included in the sale. Within two weeks, the truck developed major issues: transmission leak, coolant/water pump failure, and ultimately needed a full transmission rebuild. Two separate Ford dealerships confirmed the transmission needed to be rebuilt. The truck sat unusable for over a month while the warranty company delayed and then denied coverage because of a lift kit that was already on the truck when the dealership sold it to me. That issue was never disclosed as something that could affect warranty coverage. Meanwhile, I was stuck paying diagnostic fees, truck payments, and eventually had to spend about $7,500 out of pocket to rebuild the transmission myself because nobody would take responsibility and the dealership stopped responding to my calls and emails. To make matters worse, Covina Volkswagen told me California lemon law "only applies to new cars," even though the truck was sold with a warranty. At this point I've filed complaints with the California BAR and Attorney General. I strongly recommend anyone considering buying from Covina Volkswagen do extensive research first and get EVERYTHING in writing. read more

I bought one for $23 and installed it myself. Look at their response to me when I responded to their survey and said it was expensive. This is their attitude. I bought a GTI a year ago, and it's taken me this long to fully put into words how disappointed I am with this dealership. I strongly recommend avoiding Volkswagen Covina. I've purchased six cars in my lifetime, and this is only the second dealership where I've felt like the customer was intentionally taken advantage of. They rely heavily on the "as-is" clause when you sign the paperwork, which feels misleading and unfair. What really crossed the line for me was what happened after I purchased the car. The dealership kept my vehicle for four hours just to "wash" it. During that time, they were actually scrubbing off the ceramic coating and peeling off stickers. It didn't feel like care--it felt like damage. My advice to anyone buying a car: do not let your vehicle out of your sight during the process. I trusted them, and I regret it. Why shouldn't you get a Volkswagen from here? I'll let you know why I wish I could go back and choose elsewhere. My car was sold to me with the right brake light out. I don't notice until at night when cars were honking when I tried turning. This wasn't checked by the dealership apparently and the car was sold like that. The rolling down window function? When I go to roll my window down it rolls up. I have to make an appointment with service every time it starts doing this again. Already taken it once before to have it fixed, it's occurred again. It's been 6 months and now the air filter or air doesn't work. It blows but no cold air comes out. So many functions on the car don't work at this point. Brand new car, 6 months in. So many problems. I've had a Tiguan from McKenna for 3 years and never had this experience. I don't know why the car was sold in this condition brand new but a total fixer upper. read more

I had a really disappointing experience at this Volkswagen dealership. I went in for an inspection and oil change and specifically asked ahead of time how much it would cost. I was told around $250. However, when I went to pay, the total came out to $450. When I brought this up, the service advisor denied ever giving me that estimate and said the coolant flush alone costs that much. That's not what was communicated to me beforehand, and I would have appreciated transparency before the work was done and not after. To make matters worse, they didn't reset the inspection/oil change light after servicing my vehicle. When I called the next day, they told me I'd have to bring the car back in because it "can only be reset with a laptop." I explained that I work and couldn't return for almost two weeks, and asked if they could simply walk me through it over the phone. They said it was impossible. I ended up looking it up myself on YouTube and was able to reset it in minutes, no laptop needed. Between the misleading pricing, lack of accountability, and incorrect information, this was a frustrating experience. This will be my first and last time servicing my vehicle at this location. read more

I originally left a good review of this dealer on Google. I've since updated my review with additional details that have been going on since I purchased my car from them and I would very much not recommend. Buying this car was a (very bad) learning experience. It should've been a red flag when they were putting a lot of air fresheners in the car because there was a "weird smell". It should've been a red flag that there was no gas in the car when I bought it. Definitely should've been a red flag when the car had (useless) additional packages making the stated online price way less than what I actually paid. It should've been a red flag how pushy they were (I was also alone and I look like a helpless girl). My car's windshield was not properly sealed, per the other VW dealership service I brought it to and got it fixed. Well, that seal issue plus LA rains over the holidays meant a soaked inside of the car, with no warranty coverage. I would be SUPER wary with them on a used car. I would make sure you have someone with you who knows cars and can check it out. I mean, I would never buy a used car from them. Maybe they're better with new cars (although other negative reviews suggest otherwise). And that's just the car itself. I financed through my credit union because I have a great rate. As part of this deal, I traded in my old car which still had a loan with the same credit union. When the new loan was approved, the credit union did an internal payoff and then sent Covina VW the difference. While there may have been miscommunication, what ensued was really inappropriate customer service. I got accusatory phone calls, asking where the rest of their money was. I was always calm and told them that I would seek further information from my credit union. Even when I completely explained how the funds were dispersed, they (sales manager and finance manager) accused me of not understanding. Caused a lot of unnecessary stress. Additionally, working with their finance manager Leo was not it, especially when I realized that the warranty I paid for was essentially useless (and he explicitly w verbally told me it was a powertrain warranty). While I recognize reading is fundamental, I wish it would've been more clear that the warranty I got was not a power train warranty, but covered other features. I expressed that budget was something I needed to keep in mind, but had I known the warranty coverage I was purchasing was not covering what I thought (like the engine....) I would've been willing to pay more (or I just wouldn't have gotten that warranty at all). I'm dealing with issues with a car I bought 2 months ago and finding out I'm not protected is a bitter pill. Leo in financing made sure to note this as my problem as they were the good guys cutting me a deal. Really bad vibes. Last note: I got numerous phone calls and texts from sales associates and the sales manager asking if I was still looking for a car in the months after I bought my car. I literally bought my car from them and they would not leave me alone. Even when I told them and told them to update their records, they still called and texted. A v bad dealership where I would only send my worst enemy! Only keeping 2 stars because of Michael in Service. He helped me out when my windshield wiper fluid reservoir was broken (also absolutely preexisting!). read more

I wanted to mention how wonderful Keno was today on helping the Volkswagen customer, myself. We had just recently bought a new buzz from the VW dealership. We were charging the battery at an electrify America and all of a sudden it cannot go back to drive. We had to get it towed after contacting Volkswagen roadside assistance to see what's going on internally with the electrical system. We waited for three hours for the tow truck and by the time it arrived to Covina dealership the service center was winding down(Ruben had left for the day), but Keno stepped up and made sure that the handoff was smooth even though I had nothing to do with sales. He makes me want to Buy more Volkswagens and it make sure dealership look really good that it's filled with people who care. He definitely deserves a raise or promotion Next time it comes around. I'm very impressed with his professionalism and compassion. He puts himself in the client's shoes and goes above and beyond. I would caution on buying a VW Buzz as there have been a few issues with the in the internal system since buying one. Still 5 stars for customer service . Very disappointed with this dealership. What happened here goes beyond poor communication -- it felt like a deliberate bait-and-switch. I was led to believe I was purchasing GAP insurance, but the contract shows I was sold a basic protection package instead. This kind of practice is highly misleading. You sold the car for full msrp and on top of that you bumped up the interest rate 1% over what your dealer has advertised on your website. We checked this once the papers were signed and not before since the general manager promised and asured that you guys gave us the lowest apr with the 800+ credit score. it started with me looking for a vehicle that I saw on an ad. Of course when they gave me the out door price, the vehicle in question was $3000 more than the price on the ad. And I noticed that they had put $3380 extra on the vehicle listed as "items" which I thought was pretty vague. I then questioned the sales person why the vehicle was $3000 more than the listed price on the ad. They said that they marked the vehicle down as much as they could, and they couldn't sell it for that price. Which is insane.. then I asked what the items were and they told me it was for the typical vehicle add-ons GPS paint protection and other stuff that is great for just padding their profit. The interaction I had was one of the worst interactions I've had with any sales person I've dealt with in the last month or so of looking for a vehicle. Unprofessional with very little knowledge and just completely out of touch with their job. I would most definitely skip this dealership. There are so many more places that have customer service that is good sales people that know what they're doing and they're not trying to scam you right off the bat. I am going to be looking into the Better Business Bureau and other others to see that the bait and switch fraud that they're playing at this dealership doesn't go unanswered. read more

I had an extremely dishonest experience with Volkswagen of Covina. After signing a contract and purchasing my car, they called me back a week later claiming they "couldn't finance with the original company." They then tried to force me into financing with their company at a much higher rate -- even threatening to take my car if I didn't agree. On top of that, they wasted hours of my time by stalling and pretending to be "on calls" just to tire me out and pressure me into signing. The entire experience was manipulative, exhausting, and completely unprofessional. I'm usually not a review type of person but this dealership screwed me over. And maybe it's a bit of my fault, but also it's important to add that this dealership didn't act in good faith. I came in to purchase my first vehicle (alone, yes I know I shouldn't have) I had just moved and didn't have a parent or a male figure with me to prevent me from getting screwed over. Long story short, they sold me a vehicle that had impending engine failure. My car was burning so much oil that I used a bottle of oil a week + with the thickener. This problem started 2 weeks after purchase and due to my inexperience I didn't know what that problem was, stopped using the vehicle and took the car back to the dealership 3 weeks later. They said they couldn't help me nor could they do an engine swap since I technically bought the car "as is". Still shouldn't be legal to sell a car with impending engine failure just two weeks after purchase. I contemplated taking them to court but simply don't have the time as I'm currently in clinicals. They offered to buy the car back for 2k. For reference, I bought the car for 7k. Deeply unsatisfied as I am a broke college student, and this kind of ruined my finances. The dealership didn't apologize nor help me. The manager (bald) didn't really seem to care about the new car I bought from them. The only employee who seemed like a good person was David, and showed that her cared. Anyways, maybe try a different dealership since they don't really care about customers, or the cars they sell. Or maybe just try to buy from David bc everyone else especially the guy who is in charge of repairing the vehicles who told me "that's just how my car is" when I know a mechanic told me my car needed a new engine. I gave the dealership many chances to make things right with me as I just wanted this problem solved, but they ignored my emails, and said the could no longer help me. I bought a cargo van back in May obviously didn't assume I would need to get rid of it so soon but that was the case. The first visit back in May was good. Everyone I worked with was very polite and helped me out. One thing that was interesting is my monthly payment at the paperwork signing was slightly higher than what the final offer we agreed to was. It was because the finance manager had added the LoJack option without asking me but I let it slide because it was a feature that was helpful. I went this weekend to get into a lease and put the negative equity into the vehicle. It was a hefty amount. The salesman was helpful and very polite. We ran an elite id4 which despite the rebates was not going to work with the negative equity but I trusted them. The numbers came back much higher than expected and there was no real effort to work out a deal other than yeah we tried lol. I had went to VW in Woodland Hills and prior to this and the numbers were almost in line with what I wanted but they work with Carmax and offered $3k less for the trade than everyone else. Luckily I had went to Honda too just to see what they had to offer and they offered me an accord lease at a really good deal with the negative equity included. I did really want a VW but it really just depends on what finance guy you get. If they are really wanting to make a deal And help out by running a few options which wasn't the case in this situation. Disappointing but at the same time it doesn't encourage you to push for a deal and give them the business if they are not really willing to help out. The difference in how Honda went out of their way to make a deal work that was right for me was even beyond what I would expect. I would suggest that if you feel like someone is not offering the best deal trust your gut and find a dealer that has your best interest at heart. Overall nice people here but lack the effort that would've been mutually beneficial. read more
