This is a wonderful local family run restaurant. We had dinner and came back the next day for breakfast. Service made you feel like you were part of the family. The lamb is outstanding directly from the owner's farm. I had a special buffalo blue cheese burger that was exceptional. Perfect amount of blue cheese and perfectly cooked. The portions are exactly as shown in the pics. Mounds of fries. Breakfast was also wonderful with generous, tasty portions. This place is worth driving some extra miles. The outside of Cowboy Club looks like a basic roadside restaurant. The interior has the feel of a diner mixed with a saloon. We were seated immediately for lunch. Service was friendly, and the food took about 1/2 an hour for our four orders. We had pancakes, French toast, and a burger and fries. All were good, but the star of the show was the fries. They are hand cut in spirals and fried to perfection. We had to order another "side" to share which was an entire plate filled with delicious fries. read more

UPDATE: The food hasn't changed since the last time I was there, avg fair and all. What made the burger deluxe you ask? The slice of tomato pickles and white iceberg lettuce slices. The soup of the day was a white bean concoction over loaded with beans and a piece of celery. Absolutely flavourless worthy of only one spoonful, served cool. plenty of French fries were served it kinda reminds me of a birds nest. The service was exceptionally slow considering it wasn't full of guest. I was sure we'd been forgotten at this point. The food mightve sat at the pass for a bit because it was also room temperature. Now the decor is the same and I think they keep the lights down so you really can't see lol. Now I'm sure your asking yourself why I went back? Been here a number of times over the years and it's pretty much the same thing. The food is good but not great but the service is usually really good. The steak isn't the best cut, I get the 12oz sirloin and I usually have to throw away about 25% of it because it's all fat or all gristly and can't be chewed. We just had Thanksgiving dinner at the Cowboy Club and it was delicious! This is third year we have come here for Thanksgiving. They offer appetizer, soup, salad, entree, and dessert for $39.95. I always take home enough for a second meal. This year they offered salmon, New York Strip steak and lamb in addition to turkey. Dessert choices were pumpkin pie, lemon meringue cheesecake, and cranberry white chocolate bread pudding; yes, I get the bread pudding. The serving sizes are enough that my husband can eat his serving and I can bring home leftovers. I get 2 meals for $39.95, which is a bargain. We have had the same server for 3 years and she is so upbeat and involved. I think that that makes up for the dishes taking a little time. It not bad considering how freshly prepared everything taste. They are a small rural business that works very hard to deliver some very unique tastes and presentations. we are so happy we stopped at the cowboy club for breakfast. We both had omelettes that were stuffed full of goodies. The fried potatoes were the best I have had in 20 years. For being an out of the way location, the service was great and the establishment was very, very clean. Nice little stop in Wellington on the way to Salt Lake City. (NOTE: The town is a speed trap. When the sign says 40, they don't mean 41!) A great loaf of fresh bread is brought out when you order. My husband got the hamburger steak with grilled onions, my mother-in-law got the chicken fried steak, and I got the special of the day which was a chipotle burger with pepper jack cheese, an onion ring and guacamole on brioche. They all came with vegetable bean soup, which is flavorful. As you can see from the pictures I posted, the servings are HUGE. Two people could easily share a meal and have plenty! My burger would've been great if the guacamole hadn't had way too much lime juice in it. It seriously clashed with the chipotle. The curly fries were good and weren't greasy. My mother-in-law said the chicken fried steak was OK, but in the South we deep fry our chicken fried steak as opposed to cooking it on a griddle as they did. It just doesn't have the same crispy texture on the griddle. Also, the gravy wasn't seasoned so it was very bland. My husband really liked his hamburger steak and was particularly pleased it wasn't overly salted. The restaurant has been in business for 43 years. You don't stay in business that long without pleasing the palate of the locals. Obviously they do that. We just do things differently in the South, such as grilling our steaks instead of broiling them - so it's a matter of what you prefer. It's a nice place that is clean and comfortable, where you can get a decent meal. Just don't expect Southern flavor and you'll be fine. read more

I went to this restaurant last week, as I was staying down the road and needed something for dinner. The interior is exactly as everyone before me here has described...pulled from the 1950's lounge era with low seats that spin and have strange arms on them. I saw at least one table drags chairs from a different part of the restaurant that looked to be a lot more comfortable for eating... making me wish I had done the same. I ordered the wings as an appetizer, and it came in a giant cone contraption with a small ramekin sticking out the side of it holding ranch dressing. No question as to which dressing you are going to get with these wings...it will be ranch, and that is it. The wings themselves are deep fried but do have a decent kick to them, so no complaints there. I also ordered a steak with a baked potato. I had already seen what would happen if you ordered the string fries as the side... you get a ton of them covering your steak or whatever you happen to order, and you basically must eat the fries first before you can dig yourself down to the real meal...Fries are a side, folks...not the main course! My steak, while it came medium rare as requested, was kind of bland. Basically it seems that they do not season the steaks at all when cooking them. So...why the three stars? The seating for the place is just horrendous. Please invest in some chairs that weren't made in the 1950's! Also, the steak was simply bland and unseasoned... :( read more

Cool place with a unique, old-town atmosphere. They have lots of seating, but my wife and I must have come during a lull as there were only a couple other people here. We really enjoyed the loaf of homemade bread and garlic butter they brought out at the beginning of the meal. And the side salads had peppers, eggs, and homemade ranch. Great quality! Stopped by on a Friday night at 8:30 p.m. and the restaurant was practically empty. About 10 of us (separate parties) were "waiting to be seated" and weren't greeted by the staff when we walked in and it seemed like the staff was working harder to not make eye contact (avoiding getting customers to serve) then to welcome us into the restaurant. After waiting 10 minutes in the waiting area (still no greeting, etc.) we ended up leaving and taking our business elsewhere. I was a bit nervous on this one. I've seen it on my drives from salt lake to Moab and thought it looked "interesting". So we stopped in and gave it a try. First off, the place is dated, don't get your hopes up with some trendy new decour. Swivle chairs, old tables and a dance floor. Our waitress was gem, super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Everything seem home cooked and fresh including the bread. I had the chicken noodle soup..it was great, fresh hunks of chicken and nice size noodles and carrots. You WILL stand out if you're not a Wellington/Price native in this place. But that's okay, they still treat you right. Both times I've been here I've been seated in a side room, away from the main lounge area which is filled with people who I would guess are the regulars. Service is still really friendly and attentive, however--no complaints there. Menu fare is about what you'd expect for a place called the Cowboy Club in rural Utah--a lot of steak, burgers, some seafood (curiously), a loaf of white bread for the table, etc. Portion sizes are gargantuan. When they ask what side you want with your entree, the only acceptable answer is the curly fries. I'm not going to ruin the surprise by explaining why. But suffice it to say that when I apologized to the waitress for taking a picture of them, she said, "Oh, people do that all the time." If you're on the way to/from the desert, there are billboards for practically every place in Price or Wellington besides this one. I discovered it years ago the old-fashioned way--it was dark, late, and no one had a smartphone to read Yelp reviews. We are from our-of-state, and wanted to stop at a local place to eat. This place has Excellent food! I had the half sandwich with a cup of soup. My half roast beef sandwich was delicious, with plenty of meat and veggies. The cup of soup, chicken chili Verde, was more of a bowl than a cup and it was delicious. Hubby got the hamburger with onion rings and said it was really good, along with the coffee.Casual atmosphere and the music the cook was listening to was perfect, Zac Brown, Johnny Cash, etc. May stop by on the was back to the airport! This is such a cute little restaurant! We came here on our way back from Goblin Valley and were famished. It's an interesting set up inside, there's a bar and two dining rooms with antique leather seats. Definitely an "old-timey" vibe going on here. The food was delicious and the portions were more than generous. Seriously, I ordered the green chilli omelette and I had enough leftover for two extra meals. I have been coming here for awhile, this past week was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. My steak arrived to the table about 70% fat. This has never happened to me at this place, and I have only ordered the same dish every time I've eaten there. When I mentioned it to the waitress she came back from the kitchen, after speaking to the owner, saying that they wouldn't be replacing my steak and could instead just charge me for soup and salad. I wasn't mad at her, or the rule she was forced to lay down. I was upset at the owner visibly from my table talking about me disapprovingly across the room. So I asked to speak with them, to which she came to my table and just got super rude and inappropriate. I then explained my disappointment and told her I wouldn't be returning. It's a shame when one sour soul has to ruin an establishment you've loved. It's even worse when faced with awful customer service because of something they could have easily fixed without being distasteful and down right mean. Do not come here read more

Stopped in for a late breakfast on our way from Salt Lake City to Moab. Wife had the french toast combo and I had a ham n cheese omelette. Everything cameout hot, french toast was thick cut and battered perfectly the omelette was huge for the price and came with a good portion of hash browns as well as a couple of pancakes that were light and fluffy at over a quater of an inch thick. Giving one star because the bread was good but besides that, the whole experience was awful. Our food took dramatically longer than we were told it would, and they brought my food out wrong twice. We were there for over two hours and saw tables that had not been bussed, we waited at least an hour for our water, and the food was cold and not flavorful once it arrived. When we told our waitress, she said management would not do anything to try to better the situation. The management was disrespectful.
