Honest, clear and helpful. We stayed at the Rainier Cabin and there is nothing I would change, literally nothing. The cabin was inviting and warm, including the freshly picked flowers that were on the kitchen island when we arrived. It was spacious, well planned out and the kitchen was a dream. Downstairs bathroom has a hammered copper tub, great little treat! Upstairs had a river stone shower with two heads (3 if you could the hand held option) that helped after a day of exploring. Between the a/c and the ceiling fan we didn't feel the heat from the oddly hot days (every day in middle 90's and humid!). Outside there is a covered log kitchen area with a grill, adobe oven and picnic table. There is also a wonderful front covered porch and your own hot tub! You can take a short walk and be on the Cowlitz River I cannot emphasize enough how CLEAN this cabin was, as in I couldn't find any dirt. I usually spend some amount of time cleaning up something but there was literally nothing to be cleaned. Shows the tremendous pride the owners take in ensuring their cabin is truly ready. We stayed in the Rainer Cabin again as we love having the huge porch & rocking chairs with a backyard and fire pit--the mountains as the backporch view. My girls enjoy the small goldfish pond & fountain just outside the kitchen windows which provides a lovely water sound for evening dinners. There is a grill (made our steaks perfect) and second chimney-style fire place under a shelter with a picnic table for outside barbecuing. Everything is clean and stocked with all necessities (including most toiletries, dish soap/sponge & laundry detergent!). It's also just a quick stroll from the river that runs behind it. The bushes lining the woods and long driveway were full of huckleberries, black raspberries, thimble berries, blue berries and cherry trees (last August we picked our fill of blackberries). My 10 year old and 1.5 year old daughters delighted in morning berry-picking. They now have chickens near the garden (enclosed & separate); which my kids utterly enjoyed feeding with Danielle. From the garden, we picked lemon balm for evening tea, artichokes and broccoli for dinner, and even snagged a few fresh strawberries. D & R have created a paradise getaway perfect for all ages and especially wonderful for our family of 4. At night, after the kids were snoozing, (we brought our baby monitor cameras) my husband & I enjoyed stargazing from the hot tub just feet away from the cabin. Mt Rainier Nat. Forest is just about 30 mins drive so we took a couple days to hike and sightsee. Packwood, a charming little town 5-10 mins away, offers a few restaurants, a market, & our favorite--a café (The Mountain Goat Café). Danielle & Rob fully furnish the cabins with everything you need (with incredible attention to details) for a cozy getaway as well as a kind and understanding attitude with the focus on providing a place of rest and retreat for their clients. After a 20 mile hike around the Indian Wilderness area, I relaxed in the jacuzzi tub and then had a comfortable sleep in the cabin. The next morning I watch the sunrise over Mount Adams and then worked for a couple hours on the good wifi. There was a small kitchenette in the room to warm the food I brought from home. There is also pizza place across the parking lot. The cabins were extremely quiet and dog friendly. What a great place to relax for 3 days this fall. I'll be back again!

The four bedrooms were set up perfectly for our family that only includes one pre-teen. This place is excellent and well worth the money. It is a private, secluded lodge situated in a spot that is right before the entrance to Mt Rainier. The stream running through the backyard created a serene environment and the hot tub was perfectly set against it. Be careful with that hot tub in the snow - once you get in, you may not be able to get out! :) There are some disadvantages that you should know about. The water pressure in the bathroom was very weak. The power went off 3x, we called the numbers listed in the book and they eventually returned our calls a few hours later. Beautiful location, beautiful cabin, wonderful weekend!

Unfortunately, once we arrived, we noticed a note on the front of the dishwasher that said "out of service". Okay, no biggie... *trying to be understanding as things happen*. Entered the cabin further and noticed pretty peculiar smells throughout (I thought, well, its a cabin in the PNW, so I imagine it may smell peculiar and soggy from time to time). As I tried to reason that the cabin was worth the $370ish we spent per night, I was proven more and more during our stay as to why that wasn't the case... Tried to turn on the fireplace in the main house, doesn't work. Shower spout is falling off, possibly black mold in the smaller bathroom located by the front door, walls are extremely dirty (especially in high touch areas and behind the garbage cans). Cobwebs in the corners, dead bugs hanging from the light fixtures, igniter on the BBQ doesn't work, couches were sticky and smelled odd, white towels were noticably dirty even though they were washed, beds were so uncomfortable and horrible that we left a day early... The good part of this trip is that we did spend time as a family and played some pool, hiked Mt. Rainier, and enjoyed some down time. Pool table was a great thing to have access to during our stay. The creek in the back is very beautiful in the early morning/late afternoon...but that's about it. I would not return and would not recommend others to stay here & spend this type of money per night until the owners choose to put some TLC into the place to improve its current state. Also, if you are looking for a secluded place to stay, this one isn't it. The Lazy Bears cabin is located in a small-ish community/HOA with many neighbors nearby.

The log-hewn furniture feels solid, the lampshades were whimsical, even the coasters and decorations were on theme: bears in the woods. The kitchen gadgets were high end. The teas and coffees provided were not cheap standard shelf fillers, rather thoughtfully prepared and chosen. The cooking oil provided was obviously selected for quality and health. Add to this excellent electrical work in the cabins, cooling fans, lots of hooks for wet towels from the hot tub, support for WiFi, and you feel as if all possible eventualities --including power outages-- have been given forethought and workarounds clearly communicated to guests. It's the ethic of care for the wellbeing of the guest that had me impressed right off the bat, and this made the exquisite nature setting on the creekside feel seamless and restful. When someone has figured out all the details, you can go ahead and just relax at the cabin. My parents visiting from abroad had a great time here. All we did was just relax and enjoy the cabin. The deer and the blue jays were a special treat. This place is doing it right. You can never go wrong with staying here. However, it is a little expensive and there are no such things as cancellations. So it does seem hard to get a booking because it is so popular here. And I myself would worry about how to book when no cancellations are allowable. The cabins are slightly compact also, can be a bit tight if you pack in the full allowable guest load. Rainier National Park entrance. As soon as we parked to check-in, Bob and Joe (Owners/Managers) made us feel welcome. The cabin we had was great. It was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The views were wonderful. It was so peaceful and quiet. A great place to relax and re-energize. While there, Bob and Joe shared their knowledge of Mt. Rainier and the surrounding area. Telling us the best places to eat, all about the mountain, where to go for pictures, trails to walk, best places to see wildlife, and so much more. They had a campfire one night and provided everything we needed to make Smores. Many of the guests came out to the campfire, enjoying the smores, the conversation, and the stars. It turned out that one couple had stayed there several times before. At the time we were there, the park required vehicles to carry snow chains. They rent chains at the lodge for half the price of the places you can rent them in town. Unfortunately, they didn't have our tire size but immediately offered to go purchase a set for us to rent. By far, Stone Creek lodge was the best place we stayed during our trip. If headed to the National Park or the Ashford area, we highly recommend Stone Creek Lodge.
