This place has so much, it's almost a little intimidating. They do have a pretty unbeatable selection of seeds, sprouts, trees, shrubs, soil, fertilizer, and supplies. I really appreciated the signs in the tomato area. That helped me decide which option would work best for our garden. Pro tip: grab one of their catalogs at the front of the store & use the coupons in the back of the catalog.

I was hankering for the flowers and veggies of fall- bring on the Brussels, ornamental kale, pansies, mustard greens, sage, you name it. After stumbling upon coxes plant farm and review by Wanda M. I couldn't get it out of my mind. We tracked 40 minutes west of downtown Indy to visit this massive plant farm. And by massive, I mean that it is the largest plant store in the state of Indiana. It's a treasure chest for a lawn and garden enthusiast with everything from seeds in pots to a variety of shovels, shrubs, hanging baskets and more. It's located about 5 miles west of Plainfield. I was impressed by their offering of fall/cold weather vegetable seeds and starts. I ended up buying a variety of kales, herbs, cabbages, pansies and a few other plants to fill the porch with autumn cheer. I Donely wear their plants reasonably priced but they were very healthy looking. Inside the building you'll find everything from compost, fertilizers, hoses, and all the necessities for a fruitful garden. The staff was friendly and helpful during our midday visit.

This is the place to go in the spring! Tons of plants. Things I can't find elsewhere. They grow their own plants too. We bought two carts full of annuals and could have found more. Prices were great. Somethings very inexpensive. I would recommend they work on the checkout procedure. We had to take all the plants, put them up on the counter and then back in our carts. Very time consuming and unnecessary.

We stopped in today on a fluke having gotten caught in a huge back up of traffic on I-70, so we jumped over to 40 and stopped in to Cox Nursery. My folks are from Terre Haute and have been here before, for me it was my first visit. They have been seeking a pinkish color tri-color beech and thought to pop in because we just happened to be driving by. I was blown away by the size of this place, knowing it is kind of tucked in the middle of nowhere in rural Indiana. They have an endless assortment of trees, plants and flowers. Clearly they are marketing to large commercial clients as well based on the amount of stock on hand, but how great as just a single customer, we can shop here too. I give 5 stars relatively infrequently, but based on amount of stock, organization, quality....this place gets my vote. Chances are they have what you are seeking. We did find our pinkish color tri-color beech we were seeking. They are a bit rare, but they had 5 in stock. Make note that delivery charges run $50 for the first ten miles and approximately $.50 for every mile thereafter. If you are seeking to DIY and spruce up your yard, buy a new lawn mower or want a great wooden Amish lawn patio chair, stop in.

Wow! Cox Plant Farm is a huge nursery with everything you could possible want for your landscaping and gardening needs. Selection and prices are unbeatable. Their tomato plants were huge, some already producing fruit. Lettuce was so full and vibrant. I also bought a large package of sunflower seeds and a smaller pack of wildflowers to plant this year.. Service was impeccable! I had several questions about different items and the staff was friendly and informative. They made great suggestions and took time to help me figure out some solutions for my yard. That alone made it worth the trip!

Decor for my porch. Matches another sign I have out here.

Loved this placed! Visited last weekend. This is a huge nursery. They have not only have live plants but also seeds, tools, garden decor, Ceramic flower pots and also keepsakes and gifts for funerals. There is so much more and so many plants to choose from. The drive from Brownsburg was a little long but was well enjoyed! Came home with a decoration for my porch!

I love Cox's Plant Farm because I know I'll find what I need here and it's family owned! They focus on customer service and always helpful when I have questions. Just look for the folks with the Cox's Plant Farm logo on their shirts. I had a gal help me for close to 1/2 hour yesterday until we found what I wanted. Don't let the crowd scare you off. They have 8 cashiers and they move the lines quickly. The greenhouse is full of beautiful individual annuals along with many hanging baskets (mine were $21.99), garden plants and herbs. Perennials are also currently plentiful in the greenhouse. The annual greenhouse has several rooms so make sure to move room to room and from greenhouse to greenhouse. One greenhouse for annuals and one for perennials. In the main area of the store are bulbs, seeds, gardening tools, patio swings, gloves, gazing balls, many statues of different sizes plus more. I highly suggest you browse. Outdoors you'll find a large variety of trees, roses and shrubs. All trees and shrubs are guaranteed for one year. Cox's will deliver and plant you're tree, for an additional cost, if you need assistant or just hate digging. The trees and shrubs we've purchased have all done very well over the years. Leave the jackets in the car as you'll be quite warm in the greenhouses. Take the time to visit most of the isles, greenhouses and what's available outdoors. The plant carts are located along the left side of the annual greenhouse entrance. The restroom is located indoors at the end of the statue isle to the right of the door that goes outdoor. Enjoy your visit.

Always able to find the typical plants ie...Petunia, Marigolds, Geraniums. Plus unique plants like Love Lies Bleeding, Mexican Sunflowers, Licorice Plant. Lots of summer bulbs, garden tools and Tchotchke for your yard and home. Take your time and look down the many rows and look up for hanging things. Busy busy place and ladies doing their best to ring things up and get you going. Wish they were closer to Indy but it gives is a chance to go get pizza with the folks in Putnam County.

This is THE PLACE to go for any kind of gardening needs! They have everything! They have all kinds of flowers, plants, bushes, trees, gardening supplies, etc. Each year I bring my mom here to let her pick out some plants/flowers for Mother's Day. She loves this place. My wife and I love walking around this place, which is huge, to see all the different kinds of plants/flowers they have. Every year we try to make at least one trip here.

Do u have any landscape fabric?

I didn't see it any but their supply store is huge. They probably do.

    Do they have house plants?

This time of year the selection is basically hanging baskets plus some aloe plants. In the Spring the selection is larger. Their a great place when you need shrubs, bushes, perennial and spring annuals.

If you are someone who likes getting 'back to basics' or more in touch with the natural parts of your life, then you will like visiting Hobbit Gardens. Okay, just so you know, you won't find anything related to the book series about the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings here. The owner is a fan of the books from here grade school days and liked the connection of the characters to the world around them. The owner opened the shop and herb garden when she moved to the Indy area. All the herbs she sells in her store are grown on the grounds. Not only can you buy herbs, but you can learn about growing them, learn about drying them, about making decorative wreaths, about their medicinal and health values. She offers classes (see her website) to students as well as adults. When you visit, there is limited parking on the gravel drive. The owner owns both the shop and the house, so you can park wherever you see gravel. Because it was late into fall during our visit, most of the herbs outside were already harvested, but she still had fresh herbs potted inside the shop so you could see about getting some of those. To be honest, I didn't make any purchases because I frankly don't use herbs for anything other than for cooking. My wife asked a lot of questions and because she did, I learned a lot more than I would have. So, I can't give you any pricing on the products. Sorry. But Constance is a pleasure to speak with and she has been immersed in learning about all the uses of herbs for decades. While there we chatted with her as we walked through the gardens and into the shop. There are special events on the property whenever a solstice or a new year starts. There is even a Sweat Lodge on site towards the back of the property that can be reserved for special occasions. I have to admit I am not sure if I would ever be interested in reserving it, but I found it interesting. The space seems inviting and just walking about and smelling the fragrances left us feeling relaxed and calm...more in touch with nature. If you feel like learning more and want to do something out of the ordinary, give Constance a call or check her out at one of the Farmers' Markets (She attends the Winter's Market at the Indy CCIC starting in mid-November if you don't feel like driving to the far west side. My wife and I enjoyed our visit and the opportunity to learn something new. Review #3815
