Cox's also has equipment, tools, accessories, and all of the gardening necessities your heart desires! The flowers were hearty colorful and the quality for the price is hands down 5 out of five! There was a very tall man working in the shrub area who approached me for help and showed me exactly what I came for and explained how to take care of it. He also pointed out that they have a one year guarantee on their perennials for one price or you could pay the lower fee and take the plant as is. The snag I ran into with my family was how rude the front end staff was. We were glared at and not greeted. Then when it was time to cash out my mom asked one of the cashiers if she was open. The cashier rolled her eyes made a face and said yeah as though the last thing she wanted to do was cash us out. Her attitude was incredibly rude and disgusting!! The cashier that cashed me out wasn't much better. She didn't take the time to explain the difference between the 1yr guarantee and the as is price she just charged me the higher price without regard. Over all it's a great store for all of your planting needs they just need some customer service support intervention ASAP!! I would go again. I just hope the front end staff is nicer!

Hobbit Gardens

If you are one of those people who like learning something new throughout your entire life, you can…read morelearn a lot from visiting the Hobbit Gardens in Fillmore (west of Danville and at frequent farmers' markets.) If you are someone who likes getting 'back to basics' or more in touch with the natural parts of your life, then you will like visiting Hobbit Gardens. Okay, just so you know, you won't find anything related to the book series about the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings here. The owner is a fan of the books from here grade school days and liked the connection of the characters to the world around them. The owner opened the shop and herb garden when she moved to the Indy area. All the herbs she sells in her store are grown on the grounds. Not only can you buy herbs, but you can learn about growing them, learn about drying them, about making decorative wreaths, about their medicinal and health values. She offers classes (see her website) to students as well as adults. When you visit, there is limited parking on the gravel drive. The owner owns both the shop and the house, so you can park wherever you see gravel. Because it was late into fall during our visit, most of the herbs outside were already harvested, but she still had fresh herbs potted inside the shop so you could see about getting some of those. To be honest, I didn't make any purchases because I frankly don't use herbs for anything other than for cooking. My wife asked a lot of questions and because she did, I learned a lot more than I would have. So, I can't give you any pricing on the products. Sorry. But Constance is a pleasure to speak with and she has been immersed in learning about all the uses of herbs for decades. While there we chatted with her as we walked through the gardens and into the shop. There are special events on the property whenever a solstice or a new year starts. There is even a Sweat Lodge on site towards the back of the property that can be reserved for special occasions. I have to admit I am not sure if I would ever be interested in reserving it, but I found it interesting. The space seems inviting and just walking about and smelling the fragrances left us feeling relaxed and calm...more in touch with nature. If you feel like learning more and want to do something out of the ordinary, give Constance a call or check her out at one of the Farmers' Markets (She attends the Winter's Market at the Indy CCIC starting in mid-November if you don't feel like driving to the far west side. My wife and I enjoyed our visit and the opportunity to learn something new. Review #3815

I spent a lot of time wandering around and trying to decide exactly what I wanted and came home with some pretty greenery for my front porch. I also got a tiny indoor succulent that I have in a macrame hanging pot, away from my cats. Their porch geese were super cute and came both painted and unpainted. Great selection of trees and shrubs too if you are looking for those.

I had to go in to ask about some bushes we were interested in and wanted to see if they had more or were getting more. The two women working the register were extremely rude and disrespectful. They were more concerned about cutting cardboard and making faces and gossiping. I finally got one's attention as the other continued to talk over me and I was just asking for help. She told me she couldn't help me and the other gave me a weird look as I was disrupting their gossip time. The prices were a bit high, but we wanted to support local. If you pride yourself in the quality in what you carry. Where is the quality customer services? We put back what we already picked and the list of everything we needed back. We already had several thousand dollars worth of things and needed help with the rest. We went to support different a local nursery that deserved the business. If you aren't here for the customer and you didn't know we were going to spend $7-$12k. Act better. Be better. Do better. No response needed. You said enough today with your employees actions.

Go to Center Street, turn behind the strip center and you'll find a parking area directly behind the building. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and selection they carry. All current home decor and styles that work for many homes. They carry small furniture such as small dining sets, many cabinets, credenzas, accent chairs, a day bed, bookshelves plus pillows, wall decor, lamps, unique accessories, jewelry and signs to name just a few things. Several bathroom vanities ranging in size from 24" to 72" were in the shop. Several cabinets that appeared they could be customized as a bathroom vanity. Nice mixture of furniture paint colors and styles. When I was in the first time she was working with a contractor and a furniture painter to customize a cabinet for a client. It appears this is something they do if you need a specific piece or color. She also will keep an eye out for individual items you are searching for. The woman, the owner?, was very friendly but I didn't get a chance to ask many questions. Just basically what I was looking for that day but she didn't have anything similar. However, many other items that would add a fresh look for Spring and Summer. Lots of cool home decor, great displays and ideas. I'm in the market for a new bath vanity and a few additional items so I'll be back in the near future.

It has a farm house style for a lot of the items; there's even a mounted deer's head on the wall. It has a different sense of space than most home decor places. There are definitely lots of furniture pieces that take up most of the floor space. But if you decorate in this style, it pays to look at all the shelves since they are loaded with goodies that you don't see in the big box places. Note: If you stop by, there are some cool historic photos of old Plainfield on the walls. Pleasant shop with friendly service that doesn't bother you while you browse. Review #2601
