Incredibly spacious, comfortable hybrid cabin/motel rooms that allow you to experience the splendor of Colorado and the outdoors, with the comforts of an urbanite. Separate living room for workaholics who need a little privacy away from the party; gigantic, fully-equipped restrooms; and lovely balconies with decked out seating areas to have coffee and reflect on life make this property a slam dunk for any party. More than reasonably priced, especially in the Rocky Mountain National Park area; where there are lots of either overly pricy or questionably renovated properties (if not both). Further, if you book during a peak time in which AmEx and Rakuten promotions align, while having Gold or above status with Expedia, the value goes through the roof. I would have nothing negative to say about the property either way, but that the price is as attractive as it is, only serves to really reinforce stayability for every party, for every occasion. Breakfast is small but complimentary and was not expected. They have hard-boiled eggs for the health nutty traveler; which, if you plan to eat out anyways to maximize trying local offerings, as I tend to do, is still beneficial in that restaurants rarely give enough protein or protein per carb/fat. Not a mutually exclusive breakfast, it is a great supplement for the fitness enthusiast who all-too-often is belabored by inadequate nutrition while traveling. There are certain aspects of the rooms which may be a bit dated, but if observed closely, you will notice that it's a work in progress; I have no doubt the owner and staff are doing a great job, and they likely acquired the property in worse condition. That is not to say that there are certain elements of the property which are in good to excellent / above grade condition. Given all the above, I say this simply as mention rather than as detriment; to inform the audience rather than critique or offset the value consideration of a stay. Still superb. Lastly, on the occasion I visited, I was blessed to see a herd of elk outside of my balcony the morning I woke up. My pictures do not adequately capture the size and splendor of the herd. We had a lovely stay here. The room was a decent size, we "splurged" and upgraded to the room with a balcony. I wish the fire had been to another side, but it was still great, and definitely worth it! The price was very reasonable. Parking was a breeze, and the location is very convenient. On the downside, the sheets could stand to be replaced, or at least bleached a lot! The pillows were too soft for me, but that's not a big deal. We loved that the bathroom had a fan and a window! I recently stayed at this hotel. It's not fancy but it's convenient and clean. The staff was so nice. The breakfast in the morning was nice and easy. The rooms had a mini fridge and coffee maker. Plugs for devices are by the bed and by the desk. I found the bed and pillows to be very comfortable. Estes Park was such a lovely vacation spot and if I get to return, I'd definitely stay here again. We had two issues connected to our stay at the hotel. Neither was the fault of hotel staff or the room. We simply made mistakes on our end. The staff however was so nice and helped solve our problems. read more

To anyone who is looking to stay here with a pet -- make sure that you ask before booking a room about *all* of the potential pet charges. We ended up effectively chained to our room because you can't leave your pet alone, no matter how silent they are, for *any* period of time. So if you wanted to walk your dog, drop them off at the room, and then go grab dinner with your partner for 90 minutes, forget it. There's a fee for that. $100, I believe. The quality and cleanliness of the room in which we stayed wasn't worth nearly what they are charging here. I know it's all about the location ... but if I we can't leave our room without taking our senior dog with us, we don't really get to see much of the location, do we? There's also a fee for animals that bark. Luckily, because our dog is silent, we weren't charged anything. But I have to laugh that the office staff leaves for the day as early as they do, and it's just the guests remaining overnight. There were plenty of dogs barking well past midnight. But that disruption fee somehow *doesn't* go into the pockets of the guests who were actually there when the barking was happening. Massive ripoff, could not recommend any less, especially if you have a pet. read more

While searching for a reasonably-priced place to stay in Estes Park, a friend and I came across Coyote Mountain Lodge recently. The price looked right, the location looked right, and we decided to book. Located on Big Thompson Rd (one of the main drags in town), Coyote Mountain Lodge has all the retro charm of an old motel on the exterior, while most of the rooms have been renovated inside. We grabbed our keys, unpacked, and stayed for a few days. The place was clean, the bed was reasonably comfortable, it was quiet at night (for the most part -- it got cold the second night and a radiator clicked on and off all night; bring earplugs to sleep through that) and the breakfast was decent in the morning. It was mainly bagels, muffins, cereal and some waffles (that always ended up sticking to the waffle iron), with coffee, milk, and juice in the side. There is a pool and a hot tub, which proved nice one day after a long hike, and a fire pit, which we didn't take advantage of, but should have. If you just need the basics while in Estes Park, Coyote Mountain Lodge May be just the place for you as well. read more

Went for breakfast and door was locked at 8:30 and about 6 people waiting for them to open. Never did get breakfast. Went back later and a sign on the door read "be back later". There was a guy inside on the couch playing on his device. Tried to check out this am. Again no one in the office at 8:00. Finally a woman drove up and seemed to be irritated that I was waiting for someone to open the office. Won't go back to this motel. read more

Huge fan of this lodge. Stayed here the last two nights and was mind blown to see brand new furnishings, clean atmosphere and such a comfortable stay. The young woman working front desk was gracious upon checkin and the gentleman upon checkout was the same. Very low rate, which I only got for a last minute trip there. Typically, I stay in pricier hotels due to comfortability and accommodations but I cannot recommend this lodge enough to literally anyone!!! read more

Overall I enjoyed my stay. The room was just what we needed. Bed was comfortable, we had a nice mountain view, and room was clean. The hotel was only about 15 minutes from RMNP (which was the main reason for my stay). The internet was spotty though and very slow. The breakfast was very basic- waffles, cereal, bagels. It's the type of place where management just doesn't care if you were happy and want to come back. On the plus side: room was clean and the bed comfortable. The negatives: awful coffee, a generally mediocre breakfast, inattentive staff, no lamp near the sofa. On our third morning we were told by the management that the hotel "had lost its license" and didn't have any real breakfast. When I asked for a refund, they said "we provided you with food." They provided packaged waffles and Pringles potato chips. There are so many other places in Estes Park (all of which are close to the center (it's not a small area)); don't waste your time with this one. read more

The room was clean, it had a refrigerator and microwave, and a very comfy bed. Great views from the room. Hotels need Yelp love too, so I try to highlight on them when traveling to other cities. Scored a sweet price for a stay in this quaint lodge in Estes Park, Colorado! Coyote Mountain Lodge had me locked in on the price since our stay was during Memorial Day weekend and all the hotels/lodges in the area were a higher than normal price. We got a room for less than $100/night, which is hard to find these days! We requested a renovated room on the second floor, which we got (yea!). While our back window did face the road, the window panes must have been thick because we heard relatively no traffic noise. The renovated rooms exceeded my expectations! Super comfy bed, nice tv, and the bathroom was sparkly clean and new. My only qualms about the room: the tiny bathroom and there is no closet in the room. We stayed for two nights and most of the time was spent outside the room, so that didn't bother us. They are light on amenities - complimentary coffee/tea in the mornings, a pool/hot tub, and wifi. Who needs lots of amenities though when you have the beautiful mountains to explore! The few staff at the lodge that we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The views outside the lodge are incredible (views of Rocky Mountain National Park) and sometimes elk come wandering in the back of the property. They have regular keys to the rooms here, which was kind of a fun touch since most room keys are cards nowadays. The location is convenient as it is a two minute drive from downtown Estes Park. Again, for the price, this lodge is a winner! read more

I don't normally write reviews, in fact it's probably been 6-8 years since my last review. However, the service, fees and insane amount of wrong information on Coyote Mountain Lodge made it to where I have to write a review. Below are the issues we experienced here: Their personal website where we booked the reservation and the email confirmation of the fees stated $10/night/dog. When we arrived we were told it was $20 and that the website and email is wrong but there's nothing they can do. Two different employees told me the manager or owner would call me to resolve and I never heard from anyone. I asked 3 times. Nothing here was ever fixed. Their confirmation email also stated check in starts at 3pm. My wife and I had reservations for our anniversary at the Dunraven at 4pm. I called before driving to Estes to make sure the room would be ready by 3pm. I was told the email is wrong and check in is at 4 and it would cost $20 to make it a available by 3pm. I thought this was ridiculous and also told them about our reservation and was told they would ask the manager if they could waive the fee. We get to the place at 2:45pm and they didn't charge us because the room wasn't ready until 4:05. We had to cancel our reservation at the Dunraven and they had no more openings. This did not make a great start to our anniversary. These next two are minor to me compared to the service, lies and fees, but the bed and pillows are not comfortable at all. My wife and I both had back/neck issues after sleeping here for two nights. Also, the outdoor furniture had 4 chairs but only one had a cushion make the rest too uncomfortable to use. I'm giving this place two stars to be fair. I thought the room was clean, nice bathroom and the balcony was large. I want to give 1 star for how horrible the experience was but we would actually stay here again had they not lied on multiple things via website booking and email confirmation and also zero sense or care of customer service. read more

We booked 3 nights at the coyote mountain lodge during the 4th of July for our first family vacation. The accommodations that we booked were the King Suite. The balcony with the mountain view, we believed would be perfect for our 2 boys to watch the Elk and Deer graze. When we got there, my husband checked in while I and the boys waited in the car. The "suite" they attempted to give us was room 220. On their website, the suites that we booked are numbered 701 - 705. My husband instantly knew something was wrong. After looking at the "suite", my husband went back to the front desk. It was not what we booked. They said that there was a "over booking" issue. They offered to put us in the Condo for the night, with the promise that we could move into our actual accommodations the next day after people checked out. Our night in the condo was wonderful. The private balcony had a beautiful view. The boys enjoyed all the space that it provided. The hotel's breakfast consisted of yogurt being left out on the counter, mini boxes of cereal and packaged muffins. Disappointing start of the morning. The next day, my husband went back to the front desk and talked with the hotel manager. They informed him that the "suite 220" was the only accommodation available. As it was the 4th of July and we couldnt afford to stay at another hotel and the management knew that. We were forced to move to room 220. A cramped "suite" with views of the pool and highway in the back and views of a rooftop in the front. When you pay over $900 for a hotel room, you expect what you pay for. We paid for mountain views and space! This was a bait and switch and to put in plainly, Fraud! They have offered a half refund for our stay. Still wanting on it to this day. Save yourself the money and find some other place to stay. This place is run by crooks. read more

We drove up from Colorado Springs to stay in Estes Park on October 9 for my husband's birthday. We checked in and went to our room, 126. It was located under the metal stairs. We went in and the room was so small we couldn't even open the door without hitting the bed. It was supposed to be a king but it was actually a queen-sized bed. The furniture was old and the carpet was dirty. Someone upstairs was scraping on the floor. It was like they turned the janitor's closet into a bedroom. There was a 15" TV in the corner, and a tiny refrigerator on the floor. We asked for a different room and the very rude front desk guy said they were booked. We asked how that was since the parking lot was empty. My husband told him it was his birthday and the guy just said "so." We asked for a refund and he said they don't give refunds. My husband was so upset that we drove all the way back home (3 hours). What a disappointment. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

BUYER BEWARE! The photos on their website are misleading. Our room was dirty and small. No closet, no table and chairs. Old and beat-up furniture. Apparently they have a newer building and that is what you see, but not what you get. When we asked for a refund after we saw the room (so we could go elsewhere) they refused. The good: The rooms are spacious, well-equipped with amenities, pet-friendly, and have a gorgeous view of the mountains. Staff was friendly at check-in. The bad: I came here with the express purpose of remotely doing a conference from my room. The first day I was here, the electricity and internet were both down for about an hour in the morning. Apparently, it was the City of Estes Park--not the hotel--responsible for this. These things happen, but it was frustrating nonetheless. The second day, the maintenance crew was parked in front of my room and doing work in all of the surrounding units for the entire day. It was loud. All. Day. The room was filled with paint fumes at one point. The crew was just doing their job, but the hotel was virtually empty so it was a bit confusing as to why I could not have been assigned a room not in the immediate vicinity of all the improvements happening while I was there. Finally, people do not clean up after their dogs in the nearby grassy area. Though disgusting, I am guessing this is because the only nearby dumpster where one could dispose of the droppings is locked. read more

Up on the mountain on Estes Park Colorado, in the middle March, 11 degrees, the room did not have a heater. I did not know this because when I checked in I dropped my things off and left for a few hours. When I returned to the room around 8pm, it was freezing. I called front desk and no one was answering. Turns out the closed reception at 530. They had a tiny space heater in the room but at 11 degrees, it was only enough to warm my hands, not the whole room. Because no one was answering and I didn't want to freeze, I checked in at a different hotel back in town an hour and a half from Coyote Lodge. The following morning I called The Lodge to let them know that there was a problem the night before and that I would like to be checked out of the room and that the key was in the room and that I'd like to get my money back. They refused to do so. According to them I should have called the maintenance line that was written on the piece of paper they gave me upon check-in. First of all to me the maintenance phone number meant that I must call them if something was broken or not working right. Second of all, there was no heater! But they are insisting that because they gave me a maintenance phone number and I did not call it that night and that the issue could have been fixed had I called, they will not give me my money back. This is unbelievably wrong. I tried to speak to the manager a couple of times but they wouldn't give the phone to the manager. I was very polite too even though I was frustrated and they still wouldn't do the right thing. I will never recommend this place to anyone. And I will make sure I do everything that I can to make travelers aware of this poor business practice. read more

Stayed here last month for a short vaca. The rooms that are not yet renovated are okay, but when we went into the bathroom, we quickly realized my boyfriend literally would not be able to take a shower, they are very, very tiny stand up showers. Fortunately, we were able to upgrade to one of the newer rooms, which are very nice! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was larger and the shower had tons of room! I also like that they have the old school keys for your room, versus the electronic card entry, random thing to notice, but I appreciated it...felt more...rustic? ;) It is quiet, you have plenty of basic channels on the TV (but who the heck cares about that when you're in the beautiful Rocky Mountains!), also, if you go across the street to the neighborhood with the nice houses, we got our own little private Elk show! The houses and the view in their are incredible, check it out! I am giving it 4 stars because the air conditioner units in the window are not the best, loud, and they take quite awhile to cool the room. Also, at night, the sign (at least during our stay) did not light up whatsoever, not even a spotlight was on it. This hotel is a very steep and quick turn off and is difficult to see even during the daytime. We had to go down a few streets to turn around, and ended up having a cop tail us all the way to the door of our hotel...which was odd. I understand he probably wanted to make sure nobody was driving while intoxicated, but it made us uneasy and could have been easily avoided, had we seen our hotel in the first place. Overall we had a wonderful stay, it is a great little cozy hotel for the price. When we return to Estes, we will most likely stay here again. read more

My in-laws and I just stayed here over the weekend. It was the first time there for my wife and I and the second time for my in-laws. We ended up getting one of the Condos, and we really enjoyed our stay. The condo was very nice, and clean. And the fact that it was a full kitchen was very nice. The staff was also very friendly and attentive to our needs. And it's a great location if you're wanting to fish Estes Lake, just up the road from Fisherman's Nook. read more

Clean. That's about all I can say about this. We went during busy tourist season in July. The town was very busy with lots tourists. Picked this place bc there weren't a lot of vacancies and had no choice at last minute. They described it as a remodeled room with brand new bed. The bed was on the soft side if you like firm beds. The bathroom was tiny and had a shower that was hardly bigger than a standup shower. No counter space available at all. Shelf above the toilet. Yuck. The temperature inside the room had the typical motel wall heater - and was not responsive. We were cold the whole night and blanket was top sheet and the bed spread so we were freezing. The room was like something you'd expect at a motorside motel. It was crap. And DEFINITELY not worth the near $300 for one night we were charged. What a rip off. read more

Stephen King fans - really anyone - must take to tour! Elk adorn the town....anywhere they please! Gorgeous views! They have a Safeway, but if you need a department store or Target, Boulder is only a 30 minute drive down the highway. The rooms are clean and spacious. Sheets and towels are clean and no over-bleached smell so may places have. Estes Park is over 7,000 ft in elevation. If you are susceptible to altitude sickness, be prepared to take a couple of days to acclimate. read more

Wonderful motel at a great price. With a 10 min drive to the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance - you can't beat it. We got one of the new renovated rooms, with two queen beds that were amazingly comfortable. The room smelled clean, as did the sheets, and the remodeled bathroom was spotless. Free WiFi, as well as direct tv in the room is always a bonus. They have a pool open during summer hours, and a hot tub open year round until 10pm. Free tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the office and a nice lounge. The owner was amazingly nice and friendly and also told us that they are always pet friendly (they will even dog sit for you while you go to the park!). read more

Stayed in 125. The bathroom door does not shut. You can tell this has been a problem for a while because the paint is chipped off the side from people trying to close it. The soap/shampoo/conditioner is all the same. If you ask the desk they'll give you a bar of soap and a thing of shampoo. First night went to go to sleep found a hair tie that was not mine in the sheets. The sheets did seem clean though. You can hear the people above you walking around. The staff is really nice. Coffee in the room is not good. Everything was just done the cheapest way possible, which would have been ok if the room was cheaper than others in the area. If I come back and it's the only room in town, I'd stay here. But probably wouldn't stay again otherwise read more

This is an older motel that's obviously being remodeled. Being. The new paint stops about a foot from the top of the exterior walls and looks like it's been that way for a while. The heating and cooling systems are ancient but adequate. The bed was comfortable and the linens were crisp and clean. The pillows were comfortable and there were 6 of them / a must on a king sized bed, so that was great. There is a small table and two chairs and a mini fridge and microwave. The bathroom was clean. It was a pleasant stay and everything was adequate. For $130 a night? I can't get on board with the price. This is a $69 room anywhere else and even in this resort town, maybe $99. The wifi is absolutely horrendous. The TV is only about half the size it should be for the room. The towels aren't commercial hotel grade. The drapes are old and shabby. All of this would be fine for $30-$40 less. I get that this is a resort town. I get you're going to pay more. Like I said - even taking that into consideration, this is a $99 room. Upgrade the wifi, the heating units, the towels, the TV, the drapes and finish the paint job...then you can charge a bit more. read more

We were staying in Estes Park for one night and ended up staying at the Coyote Mountain Lodge. We arrived around 6pm and left around 7am the next morning. Upon arrival, we were told that we should report any problems with amenities by 8pm, since the handymen left after that. We didn't notice any trouble. The rooms were clean and beds neatly made. There is a huge window which lets in a lot of sunlight. The bathroom was clean and spacious. We had some trouble figuring out the thermostat in the room. It was either too hot or too cold. For part of the night, we had to leave both the heater and the cooler on to regulate the temperature. The provide coffee in the morning, but we had left by the time they had started serving coffee. One suggestion would be start the coffee earlier in the day. Also, they have a $100 fine for losing the key. We observed that the keydrop box did not have any lock on it, so we were a little apprehensive leaving the room key there. Nothing happened, but a lock on the keydrop box would have given us more peace of mind. read more

Over two hours later, still no one. Went out to shop and go to the national park. Came back and the room still hadn't cooled down. Called the FD and was informed someone was coming by. 30 minutes later, still no one. Mind you it's after 8PM and we're exhausted. Drove hours just to get here, been out shopping and touring the park. Still waiting. Finally called the FD and spoke to Stephanie told me no one was coming because someone already did this morning and there's nothing else they could do except the fan they gave us earlier. And that our room wasn't the only one with this issue. Couldn't move us even earlier today because they were sold out. Didn't even offer a break in the rate to compensate us for the trouble. read more

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. Extremely reasonable prices, clean, comfortable rooms, and a view to die for! We stayed here at the end of May 2017 and it was still snowy. Elk footprints outside our door every morning! Our 6 year old daughter stayed with us and got to see snow for the first time- it was magical. I loved that our mountain view suite had a huge outdoor patio that we could play on and sip coffee while enjoying the view. Such a great trip, such a great place to stay. WE WILL BE BACK!!!! We scheduled online to get 6 rooms for a portion of our wedding party. The other members of our family also reserved rooms so we could all be together. Admittedly the rooms were a good deal online, so we came to hotel to confirm in person. When we came up to in November we confirmed the reservation in person, and the Coyote employee said we had nothing to worry about. Today, the day of our reservation the hotel canceled our rooms without even calling us directly. We called this morning when we got into Denver, they did not give us a call back. We arrived at the Coyote at 3:30pm, still without them calling us back, and they were unwilling to work with us. Since they cancelled the day of. they were unwilling to let our other wedding party to change their reservations to stay somewhere else. We feel trapped and taken advantage of, which I think we all agree is a horrible feeling , especially on a special day. The price online to rebook was cheaper than what the "best they could do". To top it off there was hair in the toilet and in the sink of one of the rooms . read more

My daughter & I stayed here on our travels to Rocky Mt. National park. The office people are very down to earth, kind & listen. They go out of the way to make your stay comfortable. I also have 2 Bernese mt. Dogs one a service dog. They accommodated & welcomed our dogs as much as us. The rooms are old style ( like when I was a kid in the late 60's) but up to date & clean. Beds are comfy. It's very quiet. Beautiful view with a porch to sit out in & admire the views. Plus there is a wonderful walk to a beautiful lake or you can stroll on a walking path that takes you to town. It was a wonderful place to stay after being in the road from Ny, before we began journeying into camping at the national park. Plus the cost was better than most in the area. Clean comfy room, pleasant staff, beautiful view great price you can't go wrong with this place. We plan on staying when we go back next summer read more

The employees were really kind and wonderful. Super helpful with The maps and telling me about different hikes with beautiful views that I can check out. I visited from New York and only had a day in the area so I could use all the help I could get and had no shortage of that- even the best breakfast to get! The room was super cold up there so be prepared to LAYER UP! The bed was tough, definitely no Hilton, but was clean, no strange smell, had shampoos and such, television, great employees, so can't complain and can't expect much for under $120. read more

February 14th 2020 Found hair in the bed in 2 separate rooms and on the bathroom on the sink and in the shower. I wouldn't recommend this place it doesn't look like the photos as it is out dated compared to looking more modern and upon our arrival we were made aware that the hot tub is out of service. This place was exactly what I expected - a private version of a Motel 6. We stayed in a one room King Bed for one night. ($159 plus tax). Estes Park was completely sold out this evening. A bit of perspective - I travel for a living (management consultant) and have spent something like 100+ nights on the road per year for the past 20 years or so. I've seen it all form the penzions and gasthausen in Germany, to the rickety old motels on New Zealand's south island, to flea infested rat holes in India and the Middle East. I'm used to staying in mid to upper range hotels (Marriott, Sheraton, Hiltons, Westin etc.) so I'm penning (typing?) this as an experienced traveler. Room - Brown pile carpet - clean and vacuumed. A light weight window air conditioner that struggled to keep the room at a comfortable temperature. Tiny Formica sink with the usual low-end soap and shampoo/conditioner. Extremely tight shower/tub/toilet with a vinyl see through floral patterned shower curtain, an '80s era shower head, and mix and match handles and spout. Thin, but serviceable towels and washcloths that didn't reek of bleach. You could see daylight under the door to the room, and the security latch looked like it was ADA compliant, except we were on the second floor with only stairs to get there. Minimal road noise as we we on the second floor with windows out onto the roadway. I think the ground floor would have none. The HUGE plus was a very comfortable bed and high count cotton sheets. I'm very particular in this regard - anything with polyester makes it almost impossible to sleep. One thing to stress, lest it get lost in the detail - the room was very well cleaned - from the shag carpet, to dusting, to the bathroom and shower Service - We only stayed the one night so cannot comment on the room service other than the room was spotless and fresh smelling when we arrived. Arrivals / Departures - we had to wait about 5 minutes for the one desk clerk to return to the front office - she'd been helping a guest. Took about 2-3 minutes to check in - really efficient, friendly and helpful. Asked about nearby places to eat and she had a few to mention - within walking distance which was great as we had no desire to drive back into town that evening. Departure was a little kludgey - they're closed until 7 am and we wanted to get an early start. I suppose had we asked they would have accommodated us with a key drop off option. In summary - this place is EXACTLY what it advertises itself as - and they're pretty good at it. The one thing that really matters - a good bed - they've invested in. If you're expecting the Ritz-Carlton - go somewhere else. If you're looking for a place to rest your weary feet and get a decent night's sleep after a full day of hiking the Rocky Mountain National Park in relative comfort - this is a great choice. read more
