This place worked really perfectly for us for our weekend trip to Meow Wolf. We got a pretty spectacular rate, with parking and their breakfast burritos included! Their water was easily accessible at the front. I like the decor here and the staff were all really friendly. I think the only downside is the sound proofing is quite poor here. We kept getting woken up by people walking down the hallway and hearing folks talking by their doors. That did not make for a good night's sleep. I'm somewhere between recommending this place to a friend and not saying anything at all. This is a great 'value for money' budget hotel, about 10-15 minutes drive from Santa Fe plaza. Our room was clean, bed was comfortable, although the bathroom could use an update. The AC/heater does not have a temperature control monitor so you can only turn the dial to heat or cool fan modes which may end up making the room too hot or cold. The room was equipped with all basic amenities including TV, coffee maker and toiletries. The morning breakfast was decent including bagels, muffins, instant oats, apples and burritos. They also had coffee and hot water in the lobby area throughout the day but it happened to be empty whenever we went to get some. Hello I am presently staying at the Coyote South in Santa Fe. On my check in day I was warmly greeted by a lovely lady named Zarelle. She is extremely professional. Her expertise set me in the right direction. I am warmly greeted every evening by Ramsey who has assisted me with any necessities I may need. His cheerful demeanor makes me feel welcome. The entire ambience of the hotel is friendly and welcoming. A real pleasure for an out of town guest. Jose the General Manager made every effort to satisfy every need of my stay. I am very grateful for all his help. I cannot say enough of the cleaning staff Rosie who heads the staff is extremely professional, satisfying all the necessary assistance of a first class hotel. The rooms are extremely comfortable, exceptionally, clean and pleasant. This place was such a great find! Fantastic location; easily accessible from the airport and right next to a bus stop to take a bus into Old Town; if u don't feel like dealing w/the traffic. They also offer a shuttle to Old Town. Lots of ample prkg, clean rooms, friendly staff, super quick/easy check in via email & touch screens, and OMG the bfast! Bfast burritos and to-go packets of Cholula, need I say more!? My room was super quiet, so no complaints. Also absolutely luved the decor and the myth painted on the lobby wall. Coyote South is one of those places that almost works. Imagine Hotel Transylvania meets Hotel California, set in the Southwest... but make it a fixer-upper. There's definitely some charm here--quirky style, a little edge, and a lot of potential. But the reality is the place needs some love. The carpet is tired, the finish work feels rushed, and the overall cleanliness could be better. It's not gross, but it's not exactly crisp either. Breakfast included? Only if you eat sausage. No vegetarian burritos all out of them. Coffeemaker in our room was broken. No hand soap! Trash can at front entrance was overflowing w garbage. Staff was the worst! Avoid at all costs! I requested a partial refund to buy breakfast and the woman at the front desk said that I was lying and there were vegetarian breakfast burritos as she had just gotten one! If you're taking your service animal here, know that the indigenous woman who works up front is both intolerant and unwilling to even learn how wrong she is. I have been staying here during an incredibly traumatic divorce. I am scared and unsafe. Most of the staff is incredibly nice, the indigenous woman with the ridiculous false lashes who works nights is incredibly rude. I have two service animals with paperwork that assist with my epilepsy. Legally, service animals are not pets. When you books a reservation, they ask if you have pets. I do not have pets. Upon entering the hotel, I asked if they wanted a copy of my paperwork. They said no. A few days into my stay, one of my cats threw up some kibble on my bedspread. I brought it up to the woman working the desk, and said I needed a new bedspread. She demanded the old one back as if I were going to hoard it, and demanded to know the reason it was dirty (which, I've worked in hotels... maybe don't ask?). I told her my service animal threw up. She expressed verbally that she didn't think cats could be service animals in a nasty way. Whatever, be ignorant. They do and I don't have to prove that to you. I brought her the blanket, which had a small orange blotch. She said she called the manager and they were going to be charging me 3 days of a pet fee. I should be thankful it wasn't the whole stay, she said, but they were going to charge 3 days for the blanket. I said well, these aren't pets. You can't charge a pet fee. That's why I offered you the paperwork at the beginning of my stay. "Ma'am, that's how it's coded. It's a pet fee. You're getting it. Be thankful you're not getting the whole thing." And she just kept repeating herself and raising her voice and getting ruder and ruder. And I kept pointing out, in a variety of ways, that these aren't pets. You were told this, were offered documentation, and rejected it. This is housing, albeit short term, and my animals are prescribed to live with me. I'm happy to pay for any DAMAGE incurred (the stain) but you can't just charge me for my animals existence as "pets". I finally told her she was being rude, and raising her voice wasn't helping. She gave the classic abuser line, "Oh, I haven't raised my voice. If you wanna see me yell - " Yeah. I left my marriage for that attitude. So I asked her if she needed me to sign anything, nope, and I left the situation. She retaliated and never gave me a blanket back. Update: at the end of my stay at Coyote South. I never got another blanket, even though I asked. Slept without one for four nights. That same woman worked every night until the end of my stay. She made rude comments to me at every opportunity, just needless things like "management wants all of your keys except for one". Like, why? She just made my stay difficult and was a persistent bully. read more

The door was warped and wouldn't close without pushing on it with your arm. Floors are warped (tripped on the last step going from first floor to the breakfast area). Hubby and I stayed here last night. The paint jobs are beautiful but the actual motel is really dirty. There was hair in the bathtub and the tile floor in the bathroom was disgusting. The bathtub has large stained places in 2 areas. The carpet is so dirty that my clean feet are black on the bottom. The comforter has a red stain. It's just gross. And we've only seen "kids" running it. The house keeper, and both front desk people are extremely young. They charge a $100 incidental fee too.. just so you know. We won't stay here again. read more

Dirty rooms in a very sketchy area. I've stayed in a lot of sketchy areas and hotels and even with that, I wasn't willing to stay here. First room they gave me had not been cleaned at all. Looked like guests just left. Second room was the one from pics. Dirty, some kind of bug on the sheets, dirty sheets, AC smelled moldy when I turned it on. Building completely surrounded by homeless that looked like meth addicts as well. I just left and found a new place to stay. The good: Coyote South is in a good location and it's affordable, with a beautiful lobby and amazing homemade breakfast burritos! We're grateful it's pet friendly. Now the bad: the ground floor (pet central) is dark and sorely in need of maintenance and updating. The back door is a spider web of cracks. There were cracks in the sink. However, I unfortunately had the experience of seeing and killing a cockroach in my room. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk, I was told I would be contacted again after an investigation (I had failed to take a picture as my immediate urge was to kill the roach and throw it away; the staff member said she would check for it in my trash can). I was never contacted back and my follow up communications were not responded to. Stayed for one night recently and had a great experience. The location is outside of the historic area and it's on kind of a busy commercial street, but has convenient free parking. The lobby is striking and beautiful, and the corridors and rooms feature local art. The breakfast is up the stairs and behind a closed door that opens to a sunny space with a balcony, and it is SO DELICIOUS. Not only was the breakfast burrito fresh made (and quite large and filling), but the yogurt was fresh too and there were good toppings provided including cinnamon and pepitas. read more

Revising my review upwards after they moved us to the 2nd floor which was quiet! If you can get a room on the second floor it's definitely worth staying here, but the problem is that they put some people without pets on the dog floor (first floor) and you may not have a choice if full. The breakfast was delicious- especially the homemade breakfast burritos!!! Would rate a 5 if they kept the non-pet guests fully separate from guests with pets, but they do not. Its been a few years since I have stayed in a hotel, and things have really changed not for the good. Two night stay. First of all I am disabled. There was no one at the front desk, just a kiosk screen that you had to use to check in and out, and make your own room keys. The room assignment is already done and there is no changing it. My room was at least 50 yards away down the hall from the lobby. The room was very small with only one chair. The bed and pillows were hard and uncomfortable. There was nothing in the room to tell of what the hotel had to offer, I had to walk back to the front dest to find a sheet that told of what the hotel offered. There was no room service, no room cleaning, fresh towels, daily soap or anything. The breakfast was a breakfast burrito and on the second floor. The shower had no grab bars and the floor was very slippery. Needles to say this was the most disappointing two nights I have ever spent in a hotel. read more

I'm here on a travel nurse assignment and my 12 week rental isn't available til next weekend. I poured over booking.com for the most reasonably priced and positively reviewed property and COYOTE SOUTH was the winner. It's spacious and comfortable and most of all convenient to my facility for the next three months. I look forward to updating this review as my stay continues. Stay posted. Update ~ first night very comfy. No shocking noises or disturbances. Great shower temps and pressure. Coffee maker new but not the best but it will suffice. Additional staff Angelique and Megan are also to be commended for their professionalism and friendliness. One of the worst hotels I've stayed in. Walls are paper thin. We had a 2 year old across the hall being verbally abused and he was screaming for hours so we reported it to the front desk and they didn't do anything. There were also dogs barking all night. Additionally, the staff is rude and unhelpful. You walk in and no one greets you. You are expected to check in yourself and make your own keys. Skip this hotel and try another. Sketchy neighborhood with homeless all around. The room was filthy and had white stains all over the carpet. There was hair all over the tub, just gross. read more

Coyote South is our go-to home when in Santa Fe. It's a good, clean hotel. Nothing luxurious but affordable and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. They don't have daily room service for longer stays but we've never needed it. They are quick to provide fresh towels as needed. Only issue we've had is the gap at the bottom of the door is almost an inch. At night, putting a towel down keeps the hallway conversations at a distance. I have to mention the breakfasts. Very nice for an economy hotel. The fresh breakfast burritos and yogurt bar are a treat. We've met a number of interesting people in the breakfast room. read more

I stayed here in January, on my return trip home from AZ, and I have found the hotel I will always be staying at when in Santa Fe! I had stayed at a different hotel in Santa Fe, on my way to AZ, and it was ok, just a basic hotel. Coyote South is SUPER cute, I loved the decor, and my room was very comfortable, and was a better price per night than the other hotel! You MUST try the breakfast burritos, they are fantastic! And I'm very picky about breakfast burritos. I had to change my reservation date, due to an emergency vehicle repair in AZ, and they were very understanding and accommodated my request, even though I booked it through a 3rd party site (never will do that again!) and was past the allowable cancellation date. When I rebooked the room, I booked directly on their website. I have already recommended Coyote South to my snowbird family, that usually stays elsewhere in Santa Fe. They have a dog, and have a hard time finding affordable dog friendly places to stay. BTW, did I mention that this hotel is pet friendly? I highly recommend a stay at Coyote South! read more

A marriage of cultures. This little hotel may not look like much from the outside. However, once you walk through those standard glass doors which are already cracked an inch or so -- a soft gesture to come in -- you'll immediately be transported to a tranquil haven. If you have any needs, the staff is here for you. This is not my first stay here, and I reserved my room in person a little too early to check in, so I left for a couple hours to allow the room to be cleaned after its previous guest and before I can be let in. A little later, as I checked into my room, the young person at the desk expressed a concern the room had not yet been cleaned (their system indicated so); they asked me to let them know if anything needed to be done. The room had indeed been cleaned! So not only had my room been cleaned -- the front desk also wanted to ensure I was happy with its condition before I stayed in it. Seriously, If you need something, all you have to do is ask. Traveling through Santa Fe? Stay here. Live in Santa Fe? Stay here. On vacation and need a place to relax after your adventure times? Stay here. Honestly, with me, the only thing I ask is that you respect its roots. This place is special; treat it like you would your own heritage. We felt completely unsafe when we saw that the screen on the window and safety lock were broken, especially because the room was located just above ground level. The room was disgusting; a large stain on the bed filthy carpeting and cloudy dirty table tops. Thank goodness Eva was understanding and let us cancel with full refund. The room I was given initially smelled weird, the sheets were dirty and the window looked broken and questionable... i tried to leave and ask for a refund the next day, but they upgraded me and that room also had questionable sheets with hairs on them. I asked for new sheets and these again had hairs on them. Maybe there's issues with their laundry. The pictures definitely didn't look like the first room I stayed in, but the second room was better... won't stay here again. read more
