We stay at the springs in borrego with our RV a few times a year and always have to come to the Coyote grill!.. the food is as excellent as the service as is the view! Highly recommend.. always a real treat!!

Another fabulous evening. Ramon and all of the staff were great, as always. My filet was so tender, like butter. We loved Steve Hunter on the piano, playing festive holiday music. Highly recommended.

Came to break Springs for a two day get away from San Diego, made reservations at this steakhouse that was located in hotel. We were immediately greeted and seated, and the staff were there were beyond attentive. We started with crabcakes and Aji tuna. I did the four course meal with the steak tips and she ordered the ribeye, and the food was very good. It was a very quiet hotel when we were there in the ambience in the restaurant with sort of romantic. If we're in the neighborhood, we definitely would be back.

My rating: 3.5 Coyote Steakhouse had been on my list for a while and during a winter visit to Borrego, we finally checked it off. The experience was pleasant, but was somehow slightly lacking and not the 'high end steakhouse' experience that I'd imagined. Read on for my full review... WE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE PRIX-FIXE MENU The restaurant is located in a mid-century modern hotel. You walk through the attractive lobby to the check-in desk. We arrived before 6pm to take advantage of the reduced priced prix-fixe dinner, which consisted of a limited choice of an appetizer, main entrée and desert. The food was decent, although portions are moderate. I thought the mash potato was salty. Presentation was attractive, although we did note both of our desert bowls were chipped in more than one place. ATMOSPHERE The dining room is dimly lit with darkly painted walls and a stone wall feature. It was festively decorated for the holidays while we were there. Since we noted in the reservation that we were celebrating, they decorated the table with confetti and a table-top tinsel decor, which was a nice touch. There was soft music playing. The dining room was quite quiet when we were there and lacked a bit of atmosphere. SERVICE The service is adequate and friendly, although it was not quite as polished or 'high-end' as I was expecting for a steakhouse. Not sure if it was because we visited on an evening during the holiday season, but the whole hotel, lobby and restaurant felt a little dead and lifeless, lacking atmosphere. PARKING There is complimentary parking outside the hotel, although note that the ground is desert sand, so be prepared for your shoes to get really dusty! CASH DISCOUNT There is a 3% discount for paying in cash. I wish we'd known that before visiting. CONCLUSION We enjoyed the food and I'm glad we finally tried the restaurant, but I'm not sure I would rush back. We did visit their sister restaurant 'Red Ocotillo' for breakfast, which was excellent. Helpful?

    Lobster thermadore-beyond excellent!

We had the good fortune to dine at The Coyote Steakhouse on New Year's Eve. The service was excellent and the food even better! We had complimentary sparkling wine as well as all the hats, noisemakers, and holiday decorations made the evening special. My husband has six and turf and I enjoyed a wonderful lobster thermadore. Highly recommend the steakhouse!

Celebrated my son's 43rd birthday golfing trip. Found this restaurant on Yelp. We were at the tail end oh their season but they greeted our group with complimentary sparkling wine and a fabulous menu and with wonderful service. Steaks and seafood were first class Highly recommend

We enjoyed this restaurant for the first time tonight. We were celebrating my grandma's 88th birthday, and the restaurant went all out: noise makers, confetti, and a birthday hat. We each received a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to start... another surprise to add to the birthday goodies. The servers Ramon and Saul were top notch. They checked on us regularly and made sure everything was perfect. They were attentive but did not check in too often. The food was solid and the prix fixe menu before 6pm is a really good deal! The crab cake was my favorite thing. Thank you Ramon and Saul for making this evening a special one!

    Charming Ramon behind the bar.

Everything was fresh and the candied pecans added in were delicious and added a nice crunch to the salad. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and they were perfecto! It was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. I enjoyed my lunch out on the patio deck facing north east. I had the view of the hills and got to watch people drive into or leave Borrego Springs. Some of the planks on the floors and side rails were starting to show their age or had been damaged. Overall, a great experience at the joint. I look forward to having another bite at the restaurant when I camp here again in 2025.

She recommended a milk punch cocktail that incorporated Sotol, which is kind of like tequila but instead of fermenting agave, it ferments Dasylirion and is made only in Chihuahua. Then she recommended a cocktail that leverages a Mexican produced corn liquor in a Negroni but with gin subbed with mezcal. Both of these cocktails are bartenders choice and not on the menu, but the fact that they can execute such innovative cocktails so we'll speaks to the level of dedication bartenders at this bar have. Renee even gave pointers as to where I might be able to buy some of the bottles they use and for a few other bars of similar caliber to visit nearby. We also tried one of their stronger signature cocktails, and they definitely don't hold back -- there's a reason they limit those drinks to two per person! Both drinks were creative and well-crafted. The bartenders clearly know their craft, and the drink presentation was outstanding. Service was good, although not especially memorable, which is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5.
