Shitty experience. service was horrible & they assumed we were intoxicated because we were hyping up our coworkers who were dancing on the bar with them. We went here on a Sunday night after showing our friend from out of town the river walk. Really didn't know what to expect other than something like the movie maybe. After about 5-10 mins we were hooked. Our friend from out of town decided she wanted to do some shots and dance on the bar top.. and she did.. the whole night. The atmosphere was entertaining. The bouncers/security were all very nice and professional. It's a great time for anyone who wants to have some entertainment and have a beer. Where do the tourists go? Coyote Ugly of course! I live in Austin so technically I'm a tourist to San Antonio. No judgement I suppose. The bar was hopping around 9-10pm on a Saturday night. It took awhile to get a drink. We ordered double vodkas with diet and they couldn't do this. Umm what??? So they gave us a diet and vodka with an extra shot of vodka. Strange indeed. Since this is your response to my comment, that I am lying, then I will get other colleagues who witnessed her conduct to make reviews about that night. Third, when I approached the bar, I asked why the songs were skipped and if I could pick two new ones. Your "manager" started the conversation with "don't scream at me." Went here at the insistence of gbf*, so here was our motley crew...gbf, my b/f, me and two beautiful straight women. Not sure what to expect but the movie made things look a LOT better (but then again I totally heart Maria Bello, though Piper Perabo is just "meh") Anyway, let me break down the percentages: Skeeved 30%- Some of the girls dancing on the bar didn't look like they lived a particularly healthy lifestyle. Why did the one girl have scabs on her knees? Also the kind of sexy blonde whose husband kept paying $20 for the bartender and her to do body shots. Amused 37%- The middle aged lady in the mom jeans and loose blouse totally rocked. She was a good dancer. I bet in high school she could turn all the boys' heads! Also, the bartender who was the DJ (she had the remote control in her hand and controlled the CD player), did you really just play "YMCA"? Am I at my aunt's wedding? Depressed 25%- Some of the dudes in the crowd looked like this was the pinnacle of their interaction with women. Yeah, that's not going to work out so much for you in the real world. Just because you pay $20 for those body shots, those women are still probably not going out with you. Repulsed 8%- Sorry, full-figured girl in the obscenely short romper. You're a decent dancer and you're kinda cute and you did have nice hair (on your head) but really, please in the future think twice if you're wearing a romper THAT short and dancing on a bar. The entire world should not be your gynecologist. Please also note, you will hear them screaming "body shots" at least 3,452 times if you are in the bar for more than 10 minutes. You know the backstory- girls dance on the bar, pour water on each other, try to sell you body shots and essentially are trying to get you to part with you hard earned money. My main reason for the rating I gave this establishment is because at the door they failed to mention, with each straight drink or beer you have to purchase a food item. Had they made us aware of that we would have never paid to go into this run down place. If there are restrictions because of COVID I understand but you need to inform your patrons upon entry. read more

Went for happy hour (until 9pm) where domestic beers are $2 and wells are $3. Extremely loud inside and the girls were dancing and singing on the bar. Despite all the abnormally high number of "1 star" reviews Coyote Ugly has (60 out of 122 reviews at this time), I'd beg to differ and say its more of a 2 to 3 star establishment. It all depends if they're having the shot competitions and the bar shows. My girl and I like walking by and popping in to have a drink and take part in their games. Sometimes they guys are asked to do these trivial games and the ladies are sometimes asked to get up on the bar. Which ever it is, we're all about it and jump on in. In this case we would rate it a 3 star. This last time no such game took place so we reluctantly rate it a 2 star. Most of the experience was good. The door guys were friendly, the bartenders were engaging and fun, with the exception of one of them. She hated her job but I was still somehow entertaining like watching a slow motion train wreck. I can't imagine what a place like this pays for insurance by inviting drunk women to dance on the bar but whatever. When it was time to close, the staff became rude, literally pushing us out the door with not so much as a two minute warning to chug the beers we just bought. Not good. There was a brawl in the front where a patron attacked one of the ladies taking the money. There were only 2 bartenders while on a pub crawl with a ton of patrons. Then a friend of ours met us there, he had one drink and they lost his credit card. We have always wanted to visit this location. We finally got our chance on Monday. They have amazing happy hour specials that can be found on their website. If you don't like large crowds I suggest going on Monday or Tuesday night. It was perfect the girls were tons of fun and loved when you interacted with them. Okay, so we went on a week night, but still, I expect coyote ugly to be a coyote ugly all the time! Well, I have been to a few Coyote Uglys (New Orleans, New York, and even Moscow) and I have to say that this one was by far the worst. The bartenders were fine, but there was just something about the atmosphere and local clientele that was just a little sketchy. First, it is dark and Dungeon-like--ok. Moscow is dark too but really upbeat--which adds to the sketchy feel. Secondly, while I was there in the afternoon a few customers played some hip hop style songs on the jukebox that didn't really go with the Coyote Ugly vibe. Finally, it just seemed to lack the fun factor which comes with most Coyote Uglys, but what little I have read about the owner, I am sure that she will be on this place in a heartbeat, for everyone says she is a shrewd business woman with a hands on approach. I really hope that they get things together here for Coyote Ugly is usually a lot of fun. read more
