Very nice B&B. Nice location. Friendly (albeit aloof) "staff". Breakfast very good! By far the nicest place to stay in St Marys.

Man did they hit the nail right on the head!…read more I just spent the last 4 days at First Fork Lodge and it could hardly have been better. A beautiful, comfortable B&B (it's an actual bed and breakfast) in a beautiful setting. First: Sandy and Dave were So welcoming. They made a big breakfast every morning. They were great company when I wanted company, they left me room when I wanted some quiet, they had directions and suggestions, it was like staying with family (if you like your family, that is). The house: a big, historic country home. CLEAN. Beautiful screened porch, super-comfortable sitting rooms, and the bedrooms are each themed -- it's a fun place. Mine (the Barn room) nailed the 3 c's of a good room: clean, comfortable and quiet. The setting: surrounded by the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. Quiet. Walking trails and a stream right next to the property. Lots of wildlife. Half hour from Cherry Springs State Park -- it's a dark sky park (Google it, it's a national treasure, super family-friendly, and free. If it's not on your bucket list, stop what you're doing and write it down at once. I'll wait...) There's plenty of fishing nearby -- like, a 5-minute walk. (Which reminds me, they have fishing flies for sale, for every time of year and every local fish.) Good hunting all around too. Drive up to the top of the mountain (ask Dave, the directions are easy) and spend a few hours hearing nothing but the wind in the trees, birds and cicadas. There are small towns nearby for dinner, convenience stores, gas stations etc. There are other points of interest around but the park, the scenery and the quiet are plenty of reason to visit. Great place for a few peaceful days, great place for a romantic getaway. Great place. I'll be back. Bonus tip: the cell service in the area is not 100%, which is a great excuse for ignoring the phone and focusing on your relaxation. Bonus tip #2, ask Dave to bake apple turnovers. 1104 Costello Rd., Austin PA 814-647-8644 www.firstforklodgellc.com

We were attending a baby shower hosted at Maple Shade Mansion, and decided to stay there for our visit. Best decision ever. I am a hotel/B&B/accommodation fanatic. We are always traveling, and our stays are always my job to book. This is by far one of the best B&Bs I have ever had the privilege of staying at. No detail is overlooked, and the service from Karl and Sharon was unmatched. They completely take pride in the Inn and their service of it, and it is very well felt. From our late arrival landing in Pittsburgh, we were greeted with the most amazing welcome. From the evening reception - to the most amazing, multi-course breakfast, it was all superb. My friend and I had booked the Squire Suite. She stayed in the Hugh, and I in the Anna. I wish I could have packed up the bathroom to bring home. That tub was PERFECT! The bed and linens so comfy! And I was obsessed with all of their variety of glassware, plates and other serving dishes. For the shower, we were treated to a spectacular 5 course meal, with no detail overlooked. If you are looking at Maple Shade Mansion for an event - you are in great hands! One morning breakfast consisted of a parfait, followed by an amazing egg soufflé. The next morning we had berries, followed by delicious strawberry waffles. I could go on and on, but will leave it at - WOW! When I got home, I told my husband I am working on an excuse to get back to Brockway again sometime soon! This truly was every spectacular experience I've ever had at many B&Bs all combined under one roof. Thank you for a wonderful visit! We will see you again soon! Hopefully in the warmer months to fully enjoy the grounds, porches and flowers!

We've stayed at Deer Creek Inn and Winery about once a year since 2021, when I first discovered it…read moreshortly after the pandemic. At that time, it felt like a true bed-and-breakfast experience with thoughtful personal touches (guests were welcomed with a bottle of wine, breakfast was full and clearly made with care, and the overall atmosphere felt warm and attentive). Over the past couple of years, especially since the addition of their second location, I've noticed some changes in the overall experience. The level of personal interaction feels more limited than it used to, and check-in and general hospitality have become more minimal. I do understand how difficult it can be to find and retain good staff in the hospitality industry, and I appreciate the effort that goes into running a business like this. The biggest change for me has been the food and dining experience. They are no longer offering a bottle of wine in the room, but a glass of wine ordered at the bar. Breakfast, which used to be a real highlight is now much more basic and doesn't feel as thoughtfully prepared as it once did. Pricing has also increased, while the overall food offerings have decreased in both variety and quality. One of our favorite extras used to be the charcuterie platter for two, which we would order one each stay and enjoy in our room. We've stopped ordering it because both the portion size and product quality no longer felt consistent with the price or with our earlier experiences. Overall, I still like Deer Creek Inn, our favorite rooms are the Brooks Deluxe Suite and the Celebration room. We will continue to visit occasionally, but it no longer has quite the same special feel it once did for us, so I won't be going as often as I used to.

Too bad it was very cold-53 with occasional showers. The room is beautifully decorated-we stayed in "Winter in Paris" several downfalls are that the spiders the bed was not comfortable (We sleep on firm mattresses) and it was freezing-turned temp up to 75. They are celebrating their 15th birthday today. Good food. The Berry Sangria Slushy is really good! Overall it's a great place to visit! The little personal touches make it very welcoming
