My girlfriend and used this as a stopping point on our way to a wedding. The Royal Inn is an older property with charm. The rooms are large, but the bathrooms and the rooms in general do need some upgrading. The rooms were clean, however, the traps in the tubs had not been cleaned at all. The Royal Inn is a convenient, affordable, and relaxing place to stay. The room was a little dated, and the air conditioner wasn't working yet, but other than that I still got a good nights sleep. Maybe the best part of the Royal Inn is the restaurant. A huge assortment of dishes to please everyone's palette. I had the prime rib, with sides of vegetables, salad, spaghetti, and bread with a special dipping oil recipe. It was more than delicious, it was amazing! The service was impeccable. I got to meet the owner, Eddy, and Brian, the pretty-much-everything person. I will definitely be back for all you can eat steak & shrimp on Thursdays, and to spend the night when I need a good place to stay. read more

This place is awful by any standards for a hotel. Can't speak for the restaurant. I'm terribly disappointed that Booking.Com even has this as an option. Let's run down the list: Pros: 1) Location to Benezette to see the elks was convenient enough (about 17 miles); therefore, we opted for this place. 2) Shower was hot. 3) Bed was comfortable enough. 4) Flat screen TV with free cable tv. Cons: 1) I did expect 1950's décor so that alone didn't deter me. However, it was so old and tired and decrepit with other flaws that one can tell the owners barely spent a nickel putting money back into this place. 2) Missing light bulb from strip above bath mirror. 3) Horrible lighting such that I wasn't even able to read a book even when I moved one of the table lamps. 4) Many stains on the ceiling tiles in both the bedroom area and shower area. 5) Lots of black flying fly-like insects in the bathroom. 6) I had to try to dry my hair using a different outlet than the one nearest the bath mirror because the outlets were upside down and my hairdryer wouldn't stay plugged in they were so loose. 7) Free continental breakfast was the barest of minimums to even call it that. It did include bread for toast, packaged vending machine quality pastry, packaged OJ, coffee, cereal. 9) Numbers 2 thru 6 just gave me the feeling that if I looked too closely, I wouldn't want to on the cleanliness aspect so I didn't. Bottom line: I wish I had paid more for better accommodations elsewhere and next time I will. read more

I ordered the surf and turf with the steak cooked medium. After 2 hours the food came out and my steak was raw. Not understood but raw, still cold in the middle. I sent it back to be cooked properly and they brought it back 15 minutes later and it was still uncooked. At this point we were there nearly 2 and a half hours ago I told them to cook it well done and bring it out in a To-go. 5 minutes later it came out finally cooked medium. They deducted $10 from the bill, but that doesn't seem enough... 0 stars, we won't be going back. read more

Showed up in Ridgway several hours before my friends and needed dinner. Climbed boot jack hill to the Royal Inn because Wednesday is all you can eat crab leg night I was told. Mediocre food is the best I can say. Crab legs were very small and the beer glasses look like diner glasses. Very unappealing to drink a beer from these glasses. Pretty pricey also for the type of food served. Not sure where else to eat in this town but try somewhere else. Ho hum. read more

My boyfriend and i stayed here on our way up to Niagara Falls. We arrived very late at night, but getting in was no problem. The room was very basic (furnishings looked like they dated back to the 70s), but everything was clean and well taken care of. The room was cozy and we had a great night's rest. In the morning check out was a breeze and they had a layout of free pastries and juice that we enjoyed. The place was simple, but enjoyable and overall a good value. I wish we could have stayed around to check out the tavern. read more

My boyfriend and I got snowed in here on our way back from Christmas vacation. The hotel is definitely no-frills, so don't expect down comforters, a Whirlpool bath or modern decor. The price for the room was fair and after a white-knuckle drive through 3 feet of snow we were ecstatic to check in and relax. The restaurant was nice enough to stay open a bit late for us, and the food was very good if a bit pricey. We both had the blue cheese burger and it was pretty damned good. Huge homemade patties, juicy and cooked perfectly. The staff is really where the Royal Inn shines. Following dinner we retired to the small lounge and enjoyed some beers. The staff was very welcoming and chatty, making an otherwise stressful day end on a high note. We pass this place every time we head home to visit my parents and we had such a good experience we plan to drop in next time we're by. read more

If you're looking for fine dining the Royal Inn Restaurant is one of the very finest in the area. This was our first time here. The menu selection is outstanding, the food is excellent, the staff friendly, professional and fun to talk with. When the owner saw that our daughter's wheelchair couldn't fit through the ladies room door he said that he would get a carpenter there to fix that. You couldn't ask for more. I had the French onion soup as an appetizer, all you can eat steak and shrimp (only $20.00) and turtle cheesecake for desert and everything was excellent ..... all of the deserts are absolutely incredible! The steaks were succulent and the butterfly shrimp were large. Everyone's meal was top notch. I wish I could give this restaurant more than a 5 star review! :) We'll be back! read more

Our recent stay was very disappointing. This place could use a big overhaul! The room smelled musty and stale. Cobwebs near the ceiling in sink area. Electric tape around air conditioner, water stains on ceiling tile. No hair dryer in rooms. Had to go to desk for an iron and board-iron was scorched and burned on the sole plate. The WiFi was spotty at best. read more

Wow. This place is gross and smelly. The room keys are old fashioned skeleton keys. That should've been an indicator. My bed had some dead bugs, probably waiting on other bugs to eat them. The carpet looked blood stained and under the pillow cases were stains. I was hungry and went to eat. With the condition of the room, I don't know why I expected much of anything but I could've eaten a butter sandwich. Orders were shrimp and chicken. Chicken was warm but not fully cooked, I'm pretty sure biting into raw chicken made the night bad being in the bathroom and feeling sick to my stomach. My plate had crust on it from another diner, so when I sent the chicken back and mentioned the dirty plate, the older lady was irritated and peeved. The shrimp were ok but my potato, as I opened the foil, looked good but was so overcooked. I honestly believe it was leftover from early in the day or the night before. My husband and I travel and sometimes need to stop before our destination. Keep on trucking! Don't waste time or money here. When I asked the chicken be removed from the bill, the old waitress rolled her eyes and said I'll see. Just don't go here! read more

This is the place to go if you are trying to impress someone you met on craigslist. Everyone will find something on the huge selection of food and beverages, but the quality is just alright especially for the price. Definitely one of the better options in Ridgway, PA, but that doesn't really say much. I would go again, just because you can't find that many fine dining meals around the area and that is why I believe the pricing is a little steep for the quality. Royal Hotel in Ridgway PA. The rooms are clean, the staff is accommodating. They quickly gave us a refrigerator and a wifi booster when we expressed concern. The parking lot is huge, we were able to park our small trailer for a day, without issues. There is a family style restaurant in the hotel. It looks like there's a lot of oil field company's that use this place. It's conveniently located minutes from downtown Ridgway. I recommend these accommodations. read more

No stars would be great. It's been 6 months since our last visit, we were hoping they changed their ways. Imagine my shock when I saw they now charge $34.99 for the crab legs. Same deal as usual, perfect legs on the first plate, total s**t after that. Green meat and the same odd smell. I don't get it, I really don't. My other half said he would be embarrassed to serve these. The people at the table next to us were just as disgusted. For about $90 for two people with drinks and tip, screw that. Very impressed with the staff. We hosted a dinner in July for 37 family members and friends to celebrate our Wedding in April. We are from Miami so we had to coordinate everything from Miami. The Coordinator was topnotch and the evening went perfect. we served a choice of Prime Rib or Chicken Marsala--not one complaint from anybody reference the food or service. We had our own cake delivered earlier in the day and we did some minor decorating. Again Service, Food, Ambience was superb. read more
