Ate there 4 times in 3 days, and regret nothing. I really appreciate that you can get whatever you want for breakfast, no being forced to get a weird combo. I had their country fried steak with sausage gravy, eggs and potatoes, and it made my week. I don't think anybody else I was with disliked anything they ordered either, and every day I was pumped to go back. Worthy of 5 stars for sure.

Here is quite a story for you. My husband booked the Buttonwood in for me because it was the only…read morehotel around in Emporium that was open and taking guests and it was an emergency. It was the last hotel on my list, having been born and raised in Emporium, and I knew it's reputation. But, I needed to get to Emporium. I had a family member that was in final stages of life. So I did it. What I walked into was a hotel room that looked like it was part of a Hollywood scene for an ax murder screenplay. There was black mold on the inside of the windows, Rust in the bathroom on the floor by the toilet.... Rust inside the shower. And the bed. Oh the bed. I checked out a day early because I could no longer stomach the bed. The bed smelled like someone had puked all over it. When I checked out and told Amanda about this, she told me under no uncertain terms that I would not be getting a refund for the day I checked out. It's in the print she said. Now if you look at the print, even with reading glasses, you can't read it. It is so small you would need a high density magnifying glass to read it. There is no check in or check out times listed anywhere for this hotel. there is no coffee anywhere in this hotel. They do offer a refrigerator in a microwave. And beds that apparently smell like puke. I can honestly tell you that because it was the only hotel I could get at that point, I didn't want to complain. I was only in that room to pause and sleep while my family member was transitioning between life and death. This is a heavy subject for me and not one I normally would ever share online. But the way Amanda treated me was heinous. This whole family does not care about their hotel. Or their guests. They should not be in a business that faces people. So I may as well spill the beans. there are supposed to be an extra lock on the door that protects people. It's the little safety lock on the door that is supposed to give a person extra protection. Half of it was broken off. I really didn't feel safe, but my only option was to have stayed in St. Mary's, which was 20 miles away. Here's my recommendation. If you have time to plan a trip to Emporium, stay at a bed-and-breakfast if you can. There are some that are around town, and some that are outside of town. Please do not stay at the Buttonwood Inn. It's not safe, it's not health safe, and I don't know how the health department does not shut this entire place down. And by the way, this is all in my humble opinion. :-)

Absolutely beautiful property, many amenities for guests to enjoy and the two corgis running around was a lovely bonus if you ask my 8 year old daughter. We enjoyed sitting on the covered porch of the farmhouse and playing board games while we waited for dusk. Breakfast was delicious - plenty of options to meet every palate. Lots of cute goodies in the gift shop as well. Price was very reasonable, especially for the service provided. We would love to stay again one day!

It is the most peaceful place and we loved staying there. There is a shared living room, kitchen, and wrap around porch. We spent hours on the porch as we don't have any outdoor space at our home in the city. We met sooo many nice people who were staying there and we all hung out on the porch together each day. We arrived on a Sunday night and learned from other guests that no places are open for dining on Sundays, so we went to the local food store and bought steaks and other side dishes and cooked out on the gas grill area. Like everyone is saying in their reviews, the breakfast is spectacular. We also bought a ton of homemade jam, salsa, and honey in the gift shop. It was quite reasonably priced. In terms of exercising, I didn't really feel safe biking or running from the bnb as the roads have no shoulder and the large trucks speed down the road, but my bf biked from there every day. I walked the steep hilly dirt road across the street and drove to safer places to run/bike. Everything is a pretty far drive away, but I think that is normal life for this part of the state and we just enjoyed the scenery of country life on our drives. I def would stay here again next time if I come back to this area.

So we flew from LAX to Buffalo, NY, which allowed us to visit Niagara Falls (stunning) and then take a quick drive south to Bradford, PA (home of Zippo lighters). The first thing one notices when entering this part of Pennsylvania is how well-kept the homes and farms are. And when you turn onto the access road to the Glendorn Lodge, you see their farm-to-table patch of a vegetable farm. Once through the gate, the drive is a couple of miles to the main lodge and check-in. The staff are so wonderful and polite, calling us by our last names, which is very formal but a nice touch! Our home, cabin, was lovely beyond description. The master bedroom was stunning, the screened-in porch was perfect for 10 to 12 people hanging out (ideal for a family reunion), and we had an outdoor fireplace/pit blazing and roasting marshmallows for the kids. The next morning, we rode bicycles that you keep at your cabin home. We went out on a small lake with paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, etc. We also played volleyball and had lunch catered and delivered to the lake - fantastic service. The next day we played tennis, swam, basketball and even shot skeet! As our time at Glendorn came to a close, we reflected on the unparalleled service and the deep sense of relaxation we experienced throughout our stay. The staff truly went above and beyond, ensuring every detail was perfect, and their personalized approach made us feel like cherished guests rather than just visitors. To cap off our trip, we took a leisurely drive back toward Buffalo, savoring the memories of Niagara Falls and our time at the resort. We left Glendorn with our spirits lifted, ready to cherish the beauty of nature and the luxury of wonderful hospitality. If you ever find yourself in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania, I highly recommend Glendorn for an unforgettable retreat. So when a family member approached me and asked me if I wanted to stay at this inn, I was surprised; but, after learning more, I excitedly said yes. This was the right decision and led to a fantastic and relaxing weekend away from the city. This nature inn sits in Bald Eagle State Park and has 16 guest rooms, a handful of meeting room/library spaces, and is absolutely beautiful. The rooms on one side of the inn overlook a lake, with the other side facing a cluster of trees. My relative and I ended up facing the trees, but we were totally fine with that - especially since the fall foliage was starting to set in. We were on the 2nd floor, so we were able to enjoy the view from a private balcony throughout the weekend; it looked like the 1st floor rooms had little patios instead, so no matter what, guest rooms have some sort of outdoor seating. Normally, guests would all be able to enjoy a communal patio and fire pit here. Granted, some other guests (as it appeared that a large group came here together) did go ahead and enjoy this space. My relative and I did not because avoiding people is a must these days, but still, what we saw of these spaces looked great. Definitely something to remember for the future. Speaking of avoiding people - it's 2020, so naturally, my relative and I were focused on what the inn is doing to protect guests. The answer is, plenty! Cleaning and sanitizing the inn is a big thing, naturally. The small size of the inn definitely helps, as it's not particularly big and doesn't lend itself to the gathering of huge crowds. Masks are a must and for the most part, this rule was adhered to; I passed by a couple of guests that I think just forgot theirs momentarily, but staff definitely took the rule seriously. Their dining room is currently closed - all meals are prepped and offered as take-out or delivery. Fortunately, the rooms include a fridge, so it was super easy for my relative and me to bring snacks and store our leftovers so that we were stocked and well-fed all weekend. Also, while you can request items that you need for your room, daily turn-down service is not happening right now - that way, only guests are in their rooms during their stay. The result was that I felt extremely relaxed while I was in the inn, knowing that my space and health was being respected and taken seriously. A couple of notes - the mattresses here were admittedly very hard and uncomfortable, and while they didn't ruin our stay, it's still nice to have my comfy soft bed back. I don't really hold this against the inn though since, frankly, I think all hotel beds are uncomfortable by default. Speaking of things I don't hold against them - this is a nature inn, so you better expect some of the local wildlife to try to get into your room. When I first opened my balcony door some stinkbugs fell onto me because they had gathered around the door frame - whoops! The good news is that the door itself was very well sealed, so the little jerks couldn't get in when the door was closed. Again, I don't hold that against the inn at all, seeing as it's set right in a state park. Still, I think it's fair to remind other guests and readers that when you visit a nature park, you better be ready to experience everything nature throws at you. If any of this sounded like something you would enjoy, I encourage you to visit the inn's website to learn more about staying here; there is a lot of information there about a range of other topics, such as how the entire facility is designed to be ecologically sound, what to expect when you visit during different seasons, and what sorts of outdoor fun awaits you in the surrounding nature park. I definitely recommend this beautiful inn as a getaway option - now and in the future; and I hope to be back one day to enjoy more of the surrounding area!
