This town has 3 restaurants (1 is a bar) so options are quite limited here. Cozy Corner is a good place regardless of the location, though. The prices are quite fair and the portions are huge. They had a Monte Cristo on the menu so I had to try it (they are hard to find). It was pretty good. Not much ambiance here to speak of. Just a TV running old classic shows (Leave It To Beaver, etc) .

Great little quaint diner, good service and food that didn't disappoint. Everything was fixed well and as we expected, stop by if you're in the area!

There was nothing fancy about it, but the burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly as were the fries.

Know that I am a city boy and this is in rural Indiana. Two thousand people live in Cloverdale. We stopped on our way to a sprint car race not far from here. There are just not many dining options. While I do not think usual clientele or others would be put off, there were some signs outside that warned you of their conservative political beliefs, warning you to not enter if this offends you. I did not. I went in and did not feel uncomfortable my the hospitality. Ambiance is basic. There is nothing fancy, but then again, it was just fine. I may seem prejudiced, but this comment is sincere and meant to be purely complimentary. My friend, from rural Indiana agreed. "This place brought to mind that it is where you go after the hay is stacked, the cows are in the barn, you are hungry and can get your fill of good food, cheap." The daily specials posted suggested I come back. Service bringing our order was slow, but our server apologized and explained a kitchen issue. No worries. We both ordered the quintessential Indiana sandwich - Pork Tenderloin. I got the grilled and he got the fried. Never in my life have I seen a meal called a "sandwich" that looked like this. The tenderloin was as big as a dinner plate. The bun looked a decoration more than the basis for a sandwich. The meat was easily twice or three times the diameter of the ornamental bun. Neither of us could even eat half. Deferring to my Hoosier native, he declared this one of the best tenderloins he ever had. Unfortunately, my grilled version was a bit dry. We have made tenderloins at home in TN. I cannot for the life of me figure out how they pounded that cut of meat into the shape they served.

I feel terrible being the first to review and giving such a low rating, but I think it's warranted…read more The only reason this isn't a one star review is that they sell non-food and pre-packaged items. This place is FILTHLY. Health department, if you are reading this, run, don't walk, to inspect this place. The person behind the counter seemed either a bit out of it or just disengaged when we were there. I asked to try one of the flavors and he seemed completely confused like asking to try a sample was unheard of. He hemmed and hawed, looking at the ample supply of plastic spoons in front of him before turning and locating a cup (for drinks, not ice cream) and dumping in a few bitefuls that he then gave to me...with a plastic spoon. It worked in my favor that it took a bit of time, because it gave me the opportunity to look around. The counter was sticky despite their being open less than an hour. There was dust visible on several pieces of kitchen equipment. Granted I have a bit of a sensitive nose, but I immediately had the odor of freezer burn waft my way when he opened the case to scoop out my ice cream. With that smell and considering the state of everything else, who knows how long that ice cream was there and whether it was sanitary. I thanked him for the sample, pretended to take a bite, then threw everything away and left. My need for ice cream didn't eclipse my need to avoid salmonella. On the plus side, it's a large store with plenty of interesting items for purchase that won't make you puke your guts out. I was just too grossed out to stick around to explore them.
