I took my son and daughter to Gerrie's today. It was our first time there. Each of us ordered a different Italian soda. I got the black raspberry, my son ordered almond vanilla, and my daughter had the prickly pear. They were all delicious! We had toasted ravioli and crab stuffed mushrooms as appetizers. Oh my god! Sooo GOOD!! Not to mention the awesome breadsticks! For entrees, we had the lobster ravioli, chicken Marsala, and the blackened chicken Alfredo. We all enjoyed our meal immensely. We were a little disappointed that they were out of cannolis, as that was the main reason we chose to go there, but they had cannoli cake... which was truly delightful. You can really tell that everything is made in house. The staff were very pleasant, and our waitress was very friendly and answered our many questions. The restaurant was clean and cozy. Two mild criticisms: *I wish I knew to ask for them to omit the sprinkles on top of the whipped cream on the Italian soda. It did make it pretty, but was odd when ending up in your mouth via straw. Maybe a light dusting of colored sugar would be better. *My chicken, while delicious, was a tad dry. I think it probably could've rested a little longer before slicing. Don't go. I have recommend this place to many, won't anymore not sure I will try to go here again, which is sad, the food is great, but serve is lacking. Back in May when I went there for a Saturday lunch was seated right away, but took forever to get waited on. Then tonight meet family there from Terre Haute, walked in told a 30 minute wait, now there is 2 booth for 4 open, another corner table just needed cleaned that probably could seat 4 to 6 this is in lower lever. Then in the upper, there is a 2 topper I think, another 4 topper, and 2 6 toppers and another 6 topper came open. But still not seating people, I watch a gentleman that was alone not wait around and couple of 4 groups and couple 2 groups also end up leaving, we finally a group of 4 after waiting more then the 30 minutes. It is like the waitresses can only handle 1 table or group at a time. Sorry I work waitressing in a family own/ran establishment and you better be able to handle several and I many like 5 or 10 tables and large group at the same time. Never been so disappointed. Great! Definitely worth the drive from Terre Haute. I got lobster ravioli and we got bruschetta as an appetizer. The bruschetta is a whole experience. If you tend to like caprese salad this is a must get! The lobster ravioli was delicious. I didn't eat a ton because I ate so much of the bruschetta but it warmed up well! Service was great! We stumbled across Gerrie's on our way to Chicago and are glad we did! My girlfriend ordered the fish and chips and I had the Italian combo sandwich. Her fish and chips are the best we've had since moving to the Midwest from California. The batter was perfect! It was well seasoned, crispy, and not greasy at all. The fish was also well seasoned and moist. My sandwich was delicious. The bread is obviously made fresh in house and it has a generous helping of ham, salami, and thick pepperoni. Their coleslaw is really good too and makes me think it's what Colonel Sanders had in mind when he added it to his restaurant's menu! I look forward to trying the Chicken Parmesan dinner! read more

Typically I don't review places if we don't dine in. Based on food quality I'm making an exception. I hope the kitchen was just having a bad night. I ordered takeout, the chicken parmigiana, my wife the lasagna, and an appetizer of bruschetta. My parmigiana; first the chicken was cotton ball dry, possibly it continued to cook on the 25 minute drive home? Saying this the sauce somehow had a funky burnt taste, possibly they scraped the bottom of the pan as my wife's lasagna was the same. Both are now filling our trash can. I was visiting family in the area and they suggested Gerri's for dinner on a Friday night. I grew up in a small town and now live in a city, so I actually get super excited about visiting small town favorites. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Friday and they were very busy. A good sign. We were greeted immediately, seated immediately and they were so friendly. Our server came right away and answered many questions we had about the menu. The menu is plentiful with so many options. The mushrooms and fried cheese looked amazing, but the portions were huge and more than two people could eat with a meal. That said, we opted to skip an appetizer and just went with two meals instead. We ordered the Veal and Chicken Parmesan. Both came with a side salad that was HUGE, breadsticks with marinara sauce and pasta on the side. It was so much food that I was nearly full when the main entree arrived. This meant I had lunch for the next day as well! Overall good experience. Service was great. Excellent price for what you get. I've definitely had better Parmesan dishes, so I would give the food taste a C, but the quantity and service an easy A. Like I said previously, the side salad is huge. Added bonus, the house made balsamic is delicious. On colder nights, don't sit by he front door and windows. I myself have connections with the establishment, owners, and even working there. But, in my non biased opinion this is without a doubt the best restaurant in the Clinton area. To start off I usually go with the Fried Ravioli which is crispy yet creamy. Then, my go to meal is the Blackened Chicken Alfredo that comes with Garlic Bread and a Side Salad. For dessert the Peanut Butter Pie is so rich and delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is inviting and decorative. The staff is very friendly and appreciative. Haven't been here is years. We were a party of 3. The salads looked fabulous and were delicious. They had no problem putting all the topping on the side for me. The meatball sandwich and the mostaccioli with Alfredo was delicious! Next time I will add grilled chicken. The portions were good and made 2 meals, which helps offset the initial cost. The service and staff were great. We ordered chicken Parmesan and lasagna. They bring out a couple of bread sticks and marinara, then your salad. Salad was good, nice touch with mandarin oranges. Loved the neighborhood atmosphere inside Gerrie's. You get the feeling it hasn't changed much in decades....and there is something romantic about that. I stopped in during the town's Italian Festival. I ordered some ziti with meatballs which came with a breadstick, salad, and a glass of Chianti. Everything tasted delicious. The only small suggestion i would make is this: Ziti is a smooth pasta and either needs to be baked or served with a very thick sauce. Standard marinara just slips right off it....use mostacolli to pick up more of the sauce. But thats small potatoes. The taste was great, the service was fast and friendly, and the price was very reasonable. I would go again. read more

Gerrie's is one of the nicer restaurants in Clinton. Service is great and fast. I came here with a big group of people and they were very accommodating. They have a variety of sandwiches, pastas, chicken, and pizza. Everything about this place is just supersized. The breadsticks are about a foot long and delicious. I'm not sure why their bread is so addicting since it's unseasoned, but sometimes the simpler, the better. I had the chicken parmesan, which comes with breaded chicken and spaghetti. I wish there was less chicken and more pasta. The chicken was a bit tough and came with too much breading. The spaghetti was great! I probably won't be back in Clinton, IN, but of all of the restaurants I've been to here, this has been my favorite! read more

I have been enjoying Gerri's food since I was a little girl, so I was lost when her first business, the submarine shop closed. But hallelujah, she opened this restaurant and I can resume enjoying her food. I have not tried everything on the menu yet, but I love the roast beef submarine sandwich. Everything on the sandwich is special right down to the sauce. Even when I tried to make it at home it never tasted as good as Gerri's. I also enjoy her Caprese and greek salad. I found her caprese salad unique with the pickled red bell peppers, but it is a very good addition to the tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil that are included in the traditional caprese salad. The eggplant parmesan is AMAZING!! I like it better than the olive garden's. The breading on the eggplant is perfect. Finally, my favorite dessert, the napoleon. Also, excellent and you do not feel too guilty after the indulgence. Overall, this restaurant is my favorite because the food is wonderful and always has been in all of Clinton. I live 15 minutes away in another town, but I happily drive the next town over whenever I want good, homemade Italian. I think most of the items are made from scratch and are prepared in a more healthy way. For example, the breading on the eggplant parmesan I commented on previously is not too greasy and actually does not make me upset my stomach like a lot of fried food, so she must have a special preparation. read more
