Excellent homemade food. The pork tenderloin was delicious and oh so big. And we did not forget the pies. Made from scratch daily! My favorite is Lemon Meringue and it did not disappoint. I was in Cloverdale Indiana for an event at the racetrack. I saw decent reviews so we decided to try it. I think the reviews were from locals. I didn't take pictures but I got the meatloaf and it looked exactly like the picture on their menu. There was no gravy on it and I was asked if I wanted ketchup. I am not a ketchup on meatloaf kind of guy so I used the gravy from my mashed potato's. It was still dried most likely due to it being heated up on a grill because it had a crust on both sides. My wife had breakfast and the bacon has been sitting all day and probably reheated. The food was cheap like 25ish for the both of us but if I am ever there again, it will not be my first choice. My aunt got 1/2 order of the beef manhattan she said the meat was tender and there was a lot in the manhattan however her mashed potatoes were cold as well. Selected it from a quick Yelp search while out on 70 W (which really should be renamed Mid-America Raceway...feels weird being passed easily when you are doing 5 over the 70 MPH limit). We really enjoyed the local family big kitchen atmosphere. It is the kind of place where a niece gets recruited from church to be the hostess for the lunch rush. We found out she is USAF ROTC and plans to be a JAG...sharing that as that's how quickly we , total strangers, became part of Lou's family. The food was solid, and simple like something you would get at an aunt's house. My wife got a club that was pretty decent. I got a patty melt. The fries were good, although a slightly smaller portion than I expected given the vibe...but actually the right amount. I guess I will eventually learn to trust that others know stuff. We would definitely stop in again if in the area. It is right off Interstate exit...a few turns and bang you are in the dirt parking lot. After leaving Cataract Falls on a Monday evening we were looking for a place to call in an order for pick up & take back to our AirB&B. That's when we found Lou's Diner. We looked at the menus on Yelp. I called to place an order. The lady on the phone said it would be about 20 minutes (which was perfect because it was going to take us 15 minutes to get there). The parking lot was packed but luckily there were a few spots open. I parked & walked in. There was a specific area for pick up orders. I went to the window. I could see several large groups of people at tables eating. They all looked like they were having a good time. A lady came over & asked for my name. Our food came out as she was giving me the total. Both ladies were super nice. Mom & I both ordered cheeseburgers. I ordered fries with mine & mom ordered onion rings. Our burgers were very tasty. The fries were good - nothing crazy. But those onion rings? Incredible. They were perfectly crispy & delicious. We talked about driving back just to get another order. If you ever need a place to eat in Cloverdale, Lou's Diner is pretty good, for sandwiches and fried sides. Our grandson got the single cheeseburger and I got the Reuben, which were both good. Hubby got the tenderloin, and it was EXCELLENT, and HUGE! The fries were very thick and just so-so. Onion rings and fried mushrooms were VERY good! Some of the booth seat are old and worn and duct-taped - but other than that, the place looks nice inside - very clean, and decorated super-cute. Our waitress was cheerful and attentive, quick to notice drinks getting low and to refill them. Top-notch service. For a small town "hole-in-the wall," it was really a pleasant meal. Small hometown diner. We were near by doing a family event and stopped in for a bite to eat before traveling back home. Great atmosphere. The menu is kept small and simple which is nice to not be overwhelmed with a ton of options. I ordered the breaded tenderloin with onion rings and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the amount was well worth the price. Each waitress was smiling and serving. Helping each other out with not only customers but their fellow coworkers. You wouldn't know it was here. Thank you Yelp! It's clearly where the Coverdale, population 2100, locals eat. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in the door. It's cozy diner, nothing fancy. The booth seat has tears patched together with duct tape but they were comfy! I didn't sink into them or have anything poking me where it shouldn't. The waitress was pleasant and happy to help me decide what to eat. Everything on the menu is home style. Meatloaf, pork tenderloin, club sandwich. Nothing fancy. My pork tenderloin came out on a 16" plate! I ate over half and my to go box was still a full dinner portion!! Insane. My husband ordered the meatloaf and it didn't need any ketchup or gravy. So, we went to a horse show last weekend, and Lou's was right there on the same road. I had already checked out Yelp, and had my mind set on the tenderloin sandwich. It was truly spectacular...fresh pork tenderloin, flattened to big as the plate size, crispy fried goodness, with a pretty great bun too (although the tenderloin was 3x bigger than the bun ). Even though I truly think it would be enough to feed 3 people, I made it through half and packed up the rest so I would have room for homemade pie!! I ended up with homemade cake instead, which was just like my mom would make, and she was an excellent baker. Tasted my friend's coconut cream pie, which was also luscious, and a taste of her real fried chicken (none of that fast food stuff at Lou's). Good food, good service. This is a little hometown diner with homemade food. We got the pulled pork sandwich and the pork tenderloin. Both were good but the pork tenderloin is the way to go. I think our food somehow sat to be delivered for quite sometime. The food was cold when brought to the table. Waitress was pleasant, but never asked how our food was, so I think she knew it had been sitting for quite awhile before we got it. What's not to love about Lou's? The atmosphere is like stepping back into a 50's diner. I would love to try their other food, but every time, I end up getting their breaded tenderloin. They're just too good to pass up! They're huge, tender and delicious! I order an extra bun and fixings, but I get at least 3 meals from it. This time I ordered their hand-breaded, fried mushrooms instead of fries. They were amazing! It was a generous order. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Lou's prices are very reasonable. The furnishings are extremely basic but there was a nice hometown feel. I ordered the fried chicken salad and my husband got the tenderloin sandwich. One of the other servers was extremely loud and unprofessional as we waited and waited and got hungrier and hungrier. It was almost an hour before we got our food. And they weren't busy. Very disappointed in the service AGAIN and we will not be returning. Either the waitress never comes OR we sit for 30-40 mins for food when other tables have ordered, eaten and paid their bill. Other customers said it has occurred to them before. Today was the last straw and we walked out having never received of food. My wife and I take a few long distance road trips each year, and finding good road food can often be a challenge. When we approached the Cloverdale exit, the blue signs showed us the usual fare; Subway, McDonalds, etc. However, we checked with Yelp and saw that they had this highly rated diner in town. You have to drive all the way through the tiny town, turn right, and find it behind a sizable auto repair shop. You pretty much have to know that it's there. The building is quite nondescript; the outer walls covered in ribbed steel.and sporting signs such as "Politically Incorrect store - Merry Christmas" and "If it offends you, you're welcome to leave." So we entered, sat down, and perused the menu. I was a bit concerned, as three were pictures of the food in the menu, much like a Denny's. I ordered the deluxe club sandwich and my wife ordered the four piece chicken tenders meal. Now, I judge restaurants by their club sandwiches and I have to say, theirs was excellent. My wife ordered the 4-piece chicken tender meal. The chicken was fried and very good, but she could only finish one tender. She ate another later that day, and we both ate the final two pieces after returning to our home in New Mexico (we had a cooler). The service was very friendly and the restaurant was clearly frequented by the locals. This restaurant was a welcome change from standard interstate exit fare.
