Kennedie was a wonderful server. She was caught off guard when I asked her to choose between a couple of the main dishes. I was just hoping for Chef's Choice. She quickly asked good questions and later came back excited to share that she and Dave felt like I should try chicken francese. Wow...excellent choice by both of them. (I don't like wine so chicken Marsala was not their suggestion because it has a bit of wine flavoring, but I have had it and it's very good also). All indications are the staff are very cohesive and have great synergy. My wife was very content with her chicken caroza. We went on a Wednesday evening and it was fairly quiet. The recent nice weather and outdoor athletics might have kept the crowd down a little bit. But usually the place is packed. And, for good reasons. It's a wonderful (hidden) gem for Brazil. The place is clean and comfortable. Decorations and music are cool. Before departing, Dave took a few minutes to compare notes with our culinary experiences. He was excited to promote all small family owned businesses, as are we, that have great reputations. Don't hesitate to get out of your franchise restaurant mode and go to Piloni's. Placed a to go order Between 5:00-6:00pm. Everything about the experience was disappointing! The food was absolutely disgusting! Ordered Ravioli it appeared old and chewy, the spaghetti was over cooked the noodles were swollen and the meat in the marinara sauce was gray in color! The few slices of bread were half wrapped in the foil and looked like it came off of someones plate. The side salad was not fresh the lettuce was brown and wilted. This was our first experience at the Brazil location. Those working their shift apparently could have cared less about customer service and meal quality! We can do better! read more

Tried Piloni's for the 1st time today, FANTASTIC!!! We arrived shortly after opening and tried their lunch menu. The restaurant was extremely clean and very nice. We were seated in the comfiest booth I've ever sat it! Our waitress was wonderful, polite, and very attentive. The complimentary bread was delicious, and we ordered a side of homemade Alfredo for dipping!! We also ordered the tortellini and spaghetti with meat sauce and a meatball. All their pasta is homemade as well as their sauces! We will definitely be adding this to return. read more

Went to Rose Hulmans Graduation today. We figured everything in the area would be packed so we went ten miles out to Brazil. We were super lucky. They were almost fully booked but had one table left. Food and service was amazing. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very warm and welcoming. We started out with meat and cheese tray that was awesome. The fried ravioli were delicious. Everyone loved their food. No complaints at all. We thought about dessert but we were all too full. Everyone was super friendly and service was very fast and efficient. Our drunks were kept filled and empties removed. We will need to keep this on our list of go to when in the area. It says on the menu there is a slight charge to use a credit card. I don't love this practice but a lot more places are doing it. Blame our law makers. It was against the law to charge a service fee on credit cards till 2013. The practice of surcharging was largely outlawed for several decades until 2013 when a class action lawsuit permitted merchants in several U.S. states to implement surcharges in their businesses. There are four states that don't allow the surcharge. Complain to our law makers, not small businesses trying to keep cost down. read more

Food is good. Service is ok. A bit pricey. Pricing is not transparent. We got asked if we wanted soup or salad with our meal. We didn't realize there was an upcharge for the side. As a side, neither the soup nor the salad was worth it. I won't say we won't go back. BUT I'll know not to order a salad I didn't like. read more

Best restaurant in Brazil hands down. The owners and managers are fantastic and so personable. Everything is made from scratch. Fish is so fresh and better than any Indianapolis restaurant, truly. We spent $33 on the Mango Snapper and would have had to pay nearly $60+ anywhere else for it. Only downfall is that so many tables on top of each other, and sometimes they put just 2 people in a huge booth. Then when my family of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids) tried to dine (and could fit in a huge booth) we got turned away. Given, it was a Friday night. They said they could take 4 of us because they had a 4-top table, so we ended up having to separate and 3 people in my family went to a different restaurant. They were from out of town too and really wanted to try Piloni's. So that was a bummer. All that to say - if you want to try it, just go ahead and book a reservation so you don't get turned away. read more

Brazil, Indiana is not known to be a culinary Mecca, but Piloni's might change that reputation. I would go so far as to say that this is a "destination" restaurant. The building the restaurant occupies is the old phone building for Brazil...and they've kept some of this "past" in the building...points for that. Service was top notch. Our server was prompt, friendly, and on point. The food...my goodness. I had the coulotte steak (never even seen this cut in Indianapolis unless getting picanha at Fogo), an arugula salad, shrimp cocktail, asparagus, and the risotto. Truthfully speaking, the risotto was the best I've ever had...and I've eaten at some pretty "fancy" places in my life. The steak was cooked perfectly and was packed with flavor. The salad was perfectly balanced...the asparagus perfectly seasoned. Tiramisu for dessert capped it off. For this price point, I've rarely, if ever, found a meal that was so perfect. I would drive the hour from Indy simply to get the risotto, again. HIGHLY recommend. I hope this place sticks around and does well...cause they are checking every box. read more

Absolutely phenomenal experience! Wonderful and classy environment with delicious food, and a fantastic atmosphere! Our waitress, Monica, was so kind and helpful! I recommend trying the Truffle Fries appetizer (truly the best fries I've ever had!) Make sure to try the cheese sauce and or the homemade ranch with them! Wow the bread was a great pleaser. Then ordered our drinks and food. Waitress came back and said no Brussel sprouts so made adjustment and chose broccoli. Brought my espresso martini. Disappointed to find no beans (because they don't use true espresso) no foam and no espresso (don't use real coffee) but the food was fabulous. Glad to taste homemade pasta and sauces. The summary says the chef has 20 years experience? Well, they need to put down the salt shaker, then. Granted, dining out isn't cheap anymore, but for these prices (which a friend in CA called "California pricing") it wasn't worth it. We ordered the 6 oz. sirloin dinners. The steaks were good, tender, and cooked rare as ordered. But they were a bit salty. The dinners include grilled broccoli, which was OK, but 4 florets is hardly a side. The risotto was gooey and scorched, and far too salty. Also, the presentation literally was a half-empty plate and said: "Hope you're not that hungry." The 1/2 order of fettuccine Alfredo was beyond al dente. It was just plain under-cooked and some of the noodles were just raw inside. The more you chew it, the bigger it gets. Tasted "off" and very salty. Sent that back. The seafood appetizer we started off with was good. The raw garlic/vinegar dip sounds awful, but it's great! I'd buy that by the bottle. Seafood was not too breaded and not hard, as I expected. But... salty. It's hard to get a garden salad wrong, but there was nothing impressive about it. Kraft dressing, I think. At right at $88 plus tip for 2 people, it certainly wasn't worth it. The owner was polite about the whole thing, though. Again, the steaks were good, but would have been perfect with a bit less salt. Certainly better meat than Logan's Ribeye in Terre Haute. Service was good and prompt, both busboy and waitress. Honestly, though, I can't see this place staying in Brazil for very long. Last Saturday I got the chance to experience dining at the new Piloni's Italian restaurant in Brazil with my husband. This feels like you have briefly left little Brazil, and stepped into a cozy Italian restaurant in a bigger city. The wait wasn't more than a few minutes, with us being walk-ins, for seating at a table. The interior is really nice and comfortable with rich dark wood details and beautiful wall murals, plus a wide selection of drinks from the bar. The entrance features neat artifacts from the building's origin as a telephone office. Our meal was delicious and portions were healthy, with bread for dipping up the delicious wine sauce from my entree of Fungi (chicken and mushrooms over spaghetti). My meal had so much food that 1/2 of it got boxed up, for a second meal for lunch on Sunday. Ben had a nice healthy sized salad and side of fettuccine Alfredo. Service was friendly and excellent. We were too full to even think about trying a dessert, but most definitely we will be going back. We are happy to welcome Piloni's to Brazil! read more

Went there for the first time this evening and it was all around a terrible experience. I called at 4 pm to make reservations for 3 adults at 6 and was told I didn't need reservations for less than 6 people but to call back at 5 to be put on the waitlist. I tried calling back at 5 multiple times and the phone either rang busy or just kept ringing with no one answering. We decided to go there anyway and was told there was a 30 minute wait. We waited the full 30 minutes for a table. After we were seated we waited another 30 minutes with no one acknowledging us. I waived over the hostess to ask who our server was supposed to be. She took our drink order and 10 minutes later a server with a poor attitude arrived to wait on us. The food wasn't very good either, not like the one in Terre Haute. I'm extremely disappointed and we will not go back. read more

My husband and I wanted to try a new restaurant in our town of Brazil, Indiana. We chose Pelonis it alian steakhouse . We both ordered a steak which was excellent. However when it came time to pay the manager said our card was declined. We were put in a very embarrassing situation. My husband had to leave the restaurant and get cash to pay our bill! On top of that our bill was $105 for two people.Tip: Never order from a menu that does not give prices! We followed up with our bank the next morning. We were told that our card was swiped in excess of 3 times which caused the bank to place a hold on our card! So, the steaks were good, everything else on the plate was gummy and gross! It is doubtful that we will return to Pelonis. read more

Took forever to place order. Server first took order on ticket pad then tablet and then came back to verify the ticket pad. Had 14 people in group and only 5 people got their order correct when bills finally came out, 30 plus minutes. Took close to an hour to finally get my ticket and pay. Another issue is this is one of the businesses that have the gall to charge a surcharge of 2.3% more for using credit cards. Have never understood why businesses think the consumer should pay for them doing business. Who is going to have cash when the average price is $25 for an entree without salad. I ate a delicious lunch of chicken Parmesan, and a friend had the beef lasagna and said it was the best she's ever had. Another friend had the chicken Alfredo. Personally I have went multiple times with my uncle and the food is always great, I tend to always try new things when going there, some I have definitely liked more then others but I tend to mostly get Italian foods rather then the steaks. The ambience is chill at the time we tend to go but sometimes it can be a little loud. Piloni's Steakhouse is housed in a charming old building near downtown Brazil, Indiana that used to be home to a telephone company. It has a lot of character supplemented by an actual phone booth, switchboard, and what appears to be old family photos. We went early to avoid a dense crowd but still found the restaurant to be so load with conversation and music that we could not hear the wait person or carry on a conversation. If you've been to Piloni's in Terre Haute (and you're lucky if you have), you know what this Piloni's has to offer in regards to the pastas, appetizers, and desserts. The menu shown on this app is not the one we were provided last Saturday night, but there is some overlap. The bruschetta was a bit of a disappointment -- the bread was soggy from a heavy pour of balsamic vinegar on the barely toasted bread and lacked any discernible basil chiffonade. We all ordered a steak with various sides. The house soup was described as a potato soup but was not like any potato soup we have ever seen as is was a broth based soup rather than the usual cream based version common to the Midwest. The Caesar salad had good flavor and seemed as if the dressing was house made. Homemade or upgraded croutons would have set this salad apart from other restaurants. My table mates ordered a loaded baked potato, the Mac-n-cheese, risotto, and grilled broccoli. The loaded baked potato had no butter, a small dollop of sour cream and giant pieces of crispy bacon with a few sprinkles of yellow cheese, unmelted. My friends did not appreciate the Mac-n-cheese, which was heavy on the garlic, but an addition of more cheese in the cheese sauce would have been stellar. The broccoli was (mercifully) not overcooked and was, indeed, grilled but lacked salt or any other seasoning. Our steaks were cooked to order but, overall lacked any flavor other than the char from the grill. The risotto was unusual and had a most unusual flavor profile which we all found unacceptable. Unfortunately, the risotto resembled a Knorr rice packet in flavor and texture. The cook did attempt to "dress it up" by adding some roasted carrots (not listed in the description), but it only served to muddy the already distasteful combination of flavors and textures. We will not return to this location due to the atmosphere and the lack of quality and flavor. We will continue to go to the Terre Haute location and order their absolutely delicious offerings. We encourage you to skip the steak and go to Piloni's in Terre Haute. The quality of appetizers, pasta dishes, and desserts are far and away above the Steakhouse location. read more
