Choose CR Mechanical!!... don't even waste time calling others.... Honest, on time, informative and fair. What more could you ask for in a HVAC company. A friend turned me onto Craig with CR Mechanical for help with my AC. I had a tech from Assured Heating come out previously and he told me I needed a new AC, he could install one for about 7k he assured me, this was after he spent about 10 minutes outside looking at the unit. After some rambling he said he can make it work by changing out the dryer ( $1000+) but it wouldn't be guaranteed to last. He applied about 1/2lb of refrigerant and charged me $350. CR Mechanical came out the next day and not only did he go through the entire system, he explained everything that was going on. He found that the previous yahoo from Assured overcharged the system and explained that the drier wasn't the problem ; he proved this by taking temperature differential across system components. He determined that the A coil and orifice were likely the issues. All that troubleshooting and he charged less than half of what the other guy charged. He presented 3 options to move forward, I choose to replace the coil and he completed all the work for under $1500. Couldn't ask for a better technician and businessman. I actually had about 6 estimates ranging from used car salesman type-to way too brief-and ended up with 2 similar quotes-and Rick at CR bent over backwards to obtain our business. The entire process form sales, to planning, to installation and follow up after-including financing was explained in total-and emails were replied too almost immediately when I would come up with other silly questions! I scheduled an appointment for an AC tuneup last week. They told me what day they would be coming and they gave me a 2 hour window of when they would show up. They ended up never coming or even notifying me that they weren't going to make it. Wish there was a Negative Star option. They are an organized fraud and rip off company. Charging $110 per hour and that is when they leave their facility the clock starts. Then on top of that they charge $65 for the Truck..? So what were they planning ...???? going to the site on Foot ? Upon arrival the technician spent less than 15 min and said they will have to order the part, but I might be better off purchasing it myself as it would be cheaper as they add on a 35% mark-up, not to mention they get a discount from their supplier. So for this they charged me $337 ??? Just to tell me that the don't have the part and will have to order it and it would be cheaper for me to get it and then they can come out again to install it. They also included the time it will take for the driver to go back to the office..?????? So now if I call them back to install the guy said it would probably be another $450 plus depending on how long it might take to install the new part ? I would tell all my friends never to call this company read more

they did an excellent job, I had them worked on two projects, one install the outdoor ventilation door because birds get into it, they finished the job with reasonable price. Another project involved install the overhead microwave oven with the external ventilation, the tech finished the job in two hours. I will definitely recommend them to other people. read more

I am extremely frustrated with the outcome of my dealings with this company. We've had the same tech out three times for a non-working (three year old) AC. The first time we paid $100 for him to tell us we needed to change our filter. The second time he decided to thaw our line and caused extensive water damage to the unit below us (we still have an open insurance claim that will likely cost us our $1,000 deductible) and he merely added a pound of coolant. The third time he came out he added a "leak sealant" for $250. That was a week ago and as of last night, we are experiencing the exact same problem. As much as I want them to fix this issue for good (and not pay another service charge with another company), I can't trust them to actually fix the problem the next time they come out. We are expecting a baby any day and it's obviously important to have working climate control in the middle of summer. The only reason I gave them a second star is that they were reasonably quick to respond each time we had to call, we are just done calling. read more

These folks came highly recommended to me, so I decided to give them a try when I needed to replace three vent fans; their service tech Craig did not disappoint. He performed the work quickly, cleanly, and the bill was exactly what the estimate had been. He also pointed out some venting/piping issues in my attic due to various inadequacies on the part of my builder. Sense I purchase the Baskin Robbins at 2201 Broad Ripple Ave. in June, 2011 I have used CR Mechanical for all my Walk In Freezer repairs. During that time, I have had some good experiences and some not so good. On June 23rd, 2014 the service man said I needed a Fan Motor for the Evaporator Coil and ordered it. And on June 30th, 2014 he replaced the motor. Total for repair was $184.45 plus $359.59 for a total of $544.04.On 4/28/2015 I had another problem with the walk in, it keeps freezing up but not cooling. After about 2 hours, most of it on his cell talking to service explaining readings and following directions from someone he was talking to he advised me I needed an expansion valve but it would be OK for a while as they would have to order one. I paid the invoice but called and said I didn't want the valve at that time. Truth was, I didn't have the $89.00 hr. to pay for the trainee to try to repair the unit and the unit was cooling good, but still building up lots of Ice.I then called again as unit was getting warm again and on July 8th, 2015 after 2.5 hours, most of it on phone to service office, I assume, I was told the man that was out last time told him I needed a Expansion Valve. Too bad the service men do not have access to the file so they have a clue of past problems. He said he would go to shop and get it and return next day to replace.On July 9th, the service Technician returned after we open at 11 AM to work on the unit. After a short time, he had to walk down to the Hardware store to get an extension cord as he didn't have one in the $45.00 truck I paid for him to bring, that should have all the supplies and tools needed to do the repairs. Then he didn't have a striker or lighter to light his torch, so again, walk back to hardware to get a lighter, again at $89.00 per hour. At least now he can put on the valve. So he put the valve on and charged line. Ops, didn't get a good solder and it's leaking so must redo. Ops again, laid down the torch and flame blew up the lighter, hole in side of lighter, but got the connection to hold ok. Unit still not going down to temp, but it will, just take some time he tells me. Then he leaves prior to the end of my day at 5 PM although he was still setting in the parking lot when I leave. Although he was only here less than 6 hours, still charged for 8 hours, and about 40+ minutes of that was to go 2 trips walking to the hardware. read more
