After having spent a considerable amount of time meeting with and evaluating a number of…read moreestablished plumbers to do a considerable amount of work at our home, including adding a large section of new copper piping, installing a Reverse Osmosis filtration system, installing a new water heater and also a hot water circular pump...for instant hot water throughout our home, we ended up convinced that Cahill Plumbing was not only a company of the highest integrity that could be relied upon, both now and over the months and years ahead, but that their team of licensed plumbers had the resources, knowledge and skill to do the right things the right way. We have had many of our projects completed now...with several more about to get underway and I am happy to report that we are 100% happy with our choice as well as all of the work that has been completed so far. On the day before the project got underway, Cahill's Plumbing Director, Andy Visconti...a man in whom we have complete confidence, called to review what his team would do and who he had dispatched to do the job. Three plumbers, two licensed and one journeyman, arrived on time, covered their boots, explained their strategy in detail, answered all of our questions and then worked efficiently all day, stopping only to answer any question I might have had and provide me with a detailed progress report. If they experienced anything unforeseen, which is bound to happen in projects of this size, they called it to my attention and explained their workaround solution. It was fascinating to witness their teamwork and creativity. Disclaimer: I should state that I had no prior relationship, either personal or professional, with Cahill or any of their employees, including those who did such excellent work at our home last week: Tyler, who managed the project...and besides being a kind and very friendly young man, is excellent at what he does; Austin, Tyler's very capable assistant and Matt, the rookie, neither of whom ever appeared to stop to take a breath. Working together, they were a formidable team you could rely on and trust. Bottom Line If you need any plumbing done at your home, be it a large or small project, you'd be wise to give Cahill a chance to do the right things, right! We rate Cahill FIVE STARS and are very happy and confident to have them available to be 'our plumbers' from now on! Cahill is a company you can trust and be confident in. Mm...did I mention how fair and reasonable their pricing was? It was! He is an incredible tradesman and always our preferred choice where his services are warranted. We, however, live in Winnetka and this is outside "Armando's" service area. He, however, recommended HT Strenger to us and we are extremely happy that he did. We experienced a leak behind a kitchen wall that another vendor purported to fix yet to no avail so this was a re-do. David of Strenger reported precisely on time and opened the wall as if he was instead a laproscopic surgeon, unlike the previous failed vendor whose access hole/port was four times larger and created a mess that required the acquisition of a drywaller and several hours of collective inconvenience. The first failed plumbing contractor billed in 15 minute increments and, if I am not mistaken, so did Strenger, with the difference being the former's "efficacy coefficient" was zero. Stenger's work lacked the haphazard, sloppy and careless inputs of the first acquistion, one of those "always on the radio" suppliers whose name a collegue supplied, and who regretfully I called, as the job seemed perfunctory to say the least. Unfortunately, my belief of the strong inverse correlation that exists between a company's propensity to run obnoxious radio ads and its tendency to screw up the simplest job remains. Neither my wife nor I believed it necessary to ask a real plumber for a more proximate recommendation ("Armando, who would you hire if you lived up here" was indeed the targeted vernacular) but such is the world in which we now live. Another reviewer apparently thought it strange that the company requests "five star" reviews post completion. David made the same request but I construed this not as a plea of desperation inasmuch as affirmation that one would be forthcoming IF and only IF, we felt comfortable rendering such. Strenger's management, unlike the radio advertisers, seemingly understand that loyality, and the ability to thus eschew spending thousands of dollars or whatever these others pay on psychobabble laden. platitude filled ads, comes from telling customers what you will do and for how much, doing it as promised and then billing appropriately. We now have two favorite household plumbers with Strenger being our preferred provider up north. It's just a shame, however, that it takes typically two suppliers, both requiring remuneration, to acquire one good outcome. Strenger made write all that was wrong and I am very grateful for its excellent work. You will be too.

First…read moreI talk to a guy there and explain the situation and send pictures and am told me I'll need a camera inspection before doing a pipe repair, and the camera inspection will be $600. OK no worries, let's do it. So then they come out to do the inspection, take a look and tell me I don't need the camera inspection after all. OK great. Then they charge me $200 for coming over for 10 minutes and telling me that....OK. So the guy tells me it will be a couple of thousand dollars to dig down into the basement floor and fix the pipe, and I'm like oh that's not too bad. He says he'll send a quote over. So five days pass and I still don't have the quote after reaching out to them twice to ask for it eventually the quote comes in, and to my surprise it's over $5000. And at that point, I give up.

Tech grabbed an adapter to run a proper c-wire to my smart thermostat and fixed my issue. Tech basically only charged me for the materials and an hour of labor. Tech sold me on a service plan to do seasonal AC cleanings and general maintenance and inspections, and rolled the service fee into the plan. This is smart, sensible service on every level. The service plan also promises free visits as scheduled, and the only additional costs will be equipment should something need to be replaced. Again, totally sensible. I want my HVAC system to last, so I'm happy to have a reliable company for service and inspection.

On 7/21 I noticed a sewage smell and heard dripping in the crawl space. We discovered a layer of sewage and the pipe clean out cover on the floor. Contacted Duane Blanton and technicians arrived. After shining a flashlight in the crawl space (not entering) they insisted the compression fitting had "blown off" and it was our fault...telling us WE were told to replace what they installed on 4/22 on our own (Who requires a client to "fix" his repair?) and we should have rooted our pipe again. They insisted the compression cap was designed to "blow off" under pressure. Technicians left saying there was nothing they could do. No attempt to rectify, repair, or assist with clean up and damage. We crawled through the sewage and found the fitting. It was NOT a compression fitting, but thick plumbers putty around a metal cap NOT designed to seal the pipe clean out. We contacted customer service again and managers were gone for the day. On 7/22, a different plumbing company repaired the pipe with a proper compression fitting as it had indeed been a noncoded compliant "fix" Duane Blanton originally installed. Our home reeked of sewage, we had to clean/sanitize the space and throw out contaminated belongs. We continued to email and call Duane Blanton with photos and video on 7/22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, each time being told a manger would contact us. Finally...on 7/29 (David D) called asking if we still needed help; 8 days after the damage was done. His solution was to refund us for the initial April payment. No acknowledgement of the clean-up required, or compensation for property lost. They ignored the damage and moved on. Duane Blanton is NO LONGER a family owned business but a corporation that won't stand behind their work. If they make a mistake...consequences are your problem...it literally stinks!

My family's been using them and it's been progressively worse to the point I had to get the IL Attorney General's office and the BBB involved. Whether it's HVAC maintainence or roofing they've been nothing but trouble and downright abusive. Most recently they put $3000 on an elderly family member's credit card for a routine A/C check with no parts or repairs, then said he could get the money back if he bought a whole new system from them. (A/C checks are about $100 national avg.) Prior to that they misdiagnosed a furnace part (draft inducer) as having high amps and about to fail at any time, recommended a new furnace. The furnace and draft inducer have been fine 14 years since they said that. Before that they did a sloppy roof job by actually nailing shingles over the old shingles, much easier for an unskilled roofer except that the old shingles start rotting between the new shingles and the membrane. Please find a more reputable company like Cahill, etc. for furnace or a/c maintenance and anyone else for roof work.

We called back & left a message asking them to return and help us out. I imagine they were busy on that day as it was 84 degrees, it's been a week without any follow up. After returning from a long day at work (to be followed by another early morning), I was able to solve the problem! It turns out the work was left un-finished, and the HVAC would not function due to some electrical tape. I'm not an expert, but may I politely suggest using better quality tape next time, or putting the MF'ing furnace back together. Thankfully, I was able to complete the job late the same night by removing the electrical tape placed over the safety switch, and then used a screwdriver to reassemble the cover, which then closes the safety switch. Still haven't heard back from my 2nd follow-up call and the photos I'd provided. In reviewing the bill I see I only paid for a diagnostic and the materials, but I think they should make it explicit if the customer is expected to help out with labor. Maybe shop around?
